Another vote for sleep! Also, my calorie counting app on my iPod is a MUST. Makes counting so convenient I do it almost without thinking.

I love seeing so many people ranking sleep at the top of the list! Sleep! Everything can just fall right into place after an awesome night of sleep!

Honestly, aside from sleep and having a membership at a great gym within a few miles of my home....

I would not be able to lose weight without being SINGLE! When I start dating someone prior to reaching my goal and or if I don't have a considerable amount of maintenence time under my belt, I lose momentum. I'll spend less time at the gym, I'll eat poorly when out on a date, etc. And when a guy finds me attractive I'll slowly, but surely, say to myself, "I'm good where I am. I don't have to lose any more. This guy likes me as-is so I might as well have fun!".

So, yeah -- I wouldn't be successful, at least in the beginning, if I was hooked up! :-) It's a good thing I love my own company! And this time, I know I need to do this for MYSELF and keep doing it for MYSELF.

'nough said.

A good plan has been my best tool. I tried the wrong plans for too long.

mypyramidtracker.gov

I started using this even before I was trying to lose weight to increase my consumption of veg and fruit and logged both my intake and exercise on it through my entire weight loss. Interestingly I stopped logging 5 months ago and haven't dropped a single pound since!

My blood monitor.

It's what gives me the "heads-up" that high-carb eating spikes my blood sugar when I begin being complacent about carb-creep and whine to myself "I'm only PRE-diabetic... I can have a whole soft pretzel. It's still within my calories!"

(And by "heads-up" I really mean "clue-by-four" upside the head!)

Exercise. 3FC comes very close second.

The belief that losing weight without surgery or pills really is possible. For many years I thought that losing large amounts of weight and keeping it off was simply not possible. But it is!!

I've lost weight with/without everything I have now. I've lost weight with no gym, no 3FC, with Weight Watchers and without. I'm not sure. Right now I adore the my fitness pal app on my phone. It makes my life soooo much easier. Although I haven't lost an ounce in 2 weeks and I have no idea WHY, but that's neither here nor there. :P
