Well its friday today. so it's been exactly 1 week today, that i started my new eating plan (Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules). I know you're not meant to weigh yourself, but i love doing it, so i've been tracking my weight all week.
Last friday I was 173lbs, and today I am 169lbs. (last thursday i realised my digital scales were totally wrong and were giving me random numbers each time i stepped on it, so went to manual scales and to my horror realised i had not lose any weight - so started again at 174lbs)

I just finished my periods a few days ago, so most of the loss is probably just water weight, but i am taking it regardless lol

I do feel lighter, and my clothes feel a teeny tiny bit looser. not much. but i do feel a difference in my body, i feel like i have more energy. and i dont feel like i am on a diet.

i'm very happy with this new eating programe :)

Thanks girls for joining in on this thread, its really helped me!! you all are so inspiring and motivating !

wow, 5 pounds! I'm jealous, my scale hasn't budged all week  Even if most of your loss was water weight I'm sure there was a pound or so of fat lost in there too, congrats!

Good job on the weight loss Echo!! I *just* got back to 163 (it was 163.1 last week, this AM it's 163.9 but whatever I'll take it!). It took me 1.5 weeks to recover from the weekend. Sighage. I'll take comfort in the fact that my veggie straw binge didn't throw me off too much. :p My diet has been going well calorie-wise today, but not food group wise. I used to eat healthier last week. Here's the rundown for today:

Breffix - veggie straws

Snack - 1 pear

Lunch - 1 healthy choice chicken marinara meal. I only used 1 tsp of the sauce that comes with it and I removed the cheese. I also followed Echo's plan and ate slowly. Annnnddddd I'm full!! I was also planning on boiling up some ravioli but I won't now. :) I feel good that I managed to control my portions.

Snack - grapes/watermelon/pear

Dinner - veggie stir fry with chinese noodles. Usually, I make way more noodles than the veggies call for, so this time I will cut my portion of noodles in half and pile on the veggies. Also, I'll eat slowly. :)

Exercise - cleaning the apt today. That always makes me break out in a sweat. :p Then tonight, will be going to either play tennis or go for a walk.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with one of my good friends so I'm excited about that! We're going to have lunch and I've made up my mind to eat slowly and not to finish everything on my plate. :)

Aw, thanks guys. I have a ways to go, and today I've gained another pound, Lord this is so hard and discouraging!
I just know when I go overboard on carbs I blow up, and my cravings kick back in again.

Today I've had one string cheese so far, we'll see how today goes. Weekends are always tough!

I can't tell you how much I relate to this. Carbs are my downfall and I just balloon if I over-do it, which is very easy. I'm trying to take it slow and incorporate more veggies and fruits into my diet and say no to the carbs as much as possible. I get upset when I see a lb increase and I have been on plan. Boo to weight loss.

Keep your chin up!! I always have to give myself a talking-to when I'm on the verge of giving up.

update to earlier post:

I ended up having my 5 ravioli anyway because I was hungry 2 hours after my frozen meal. I ate that slowly though, took me 20 minutes. I was full after. I need to clean, shower & wash my hair, and then get started on dinner, so I shouldnt' be eating anything else until later tonight. :)

I've been such a lazy bum lately! I can't believe it's nearly 3 and I haven't even started cleaning the place. I used to start at 11 and end at 1 and have the rest of the day to myself and now look at me. Being a lump. Grrr! Ok, that's it. I'm leaving and I'm not logging back until I have finished my chores for today!!

Have a good day all!

if you go by technique of only eating when you're hungry, eating slowly and then stopping when you are comfortably full and satisfied, dont be suprised if you are hungry 3 hours later! i find i am eating less per meal, but i get hungry after 3 hours and then i eat again! :dizzy:

and i love carbs too!! :p if left to my own devises thats all i would eat hahaha but like you trying to incorporate more salads, and veg and fruit, and occassionaly treating myself to carbs, when i am really craving it

Hi Hydra! :welcome3: nice to have you join us :cheer:

Sunnigummi 08-22-2009 06:52 AM

Well done, Cape! I absolutely CANNOT resist b-day cake, so good for you! I have this mentality that it's once a year (no matter whose birthday it is :p) so I would totally help myself. Oh well, every superhero needs a weakness. :D

Hi Hydra! :)

My confession for today:

Breffix - Cream of wheat pancake (don't judge, it's super tasty!), 1 cup of tea with a tsp of sugar

Snack - Grapes

Lunch - Yay! Meeting my buddy for lunch at a greek/lebanese place and have decided on getting the veggie platter. It comes with spanakopita, a salad, hummus and tsatziki (sp?). Should be good stuff.

Snack - Grapes?

Dinner - dunno yet. I'm guessing rice and two curries...

Oh snap, forgot the exercise. I'll be playing tennis for an hour or so this evening.

Cape Breton Chick 08-22-2009 08:41 AM

Morning Ladies and thanks! I was proud lol haha....and I just want to say Echo and Sunni... you guys are doing phenominal! Way to go on the exercise! I am hoping to start running again soon, but I figured that I needed to get my meal habits into a regime first then once i had that nailed into just habit then I would add more exercise.. my job is alot of on my feet and lifting and moving so I know I get activity throughout the day, but I need to step it up now I think to my workouts, am planning on doing turbo jam, 30 day shred and of course get back to running...I do have P90X but am going to wait until I am better shape and use it to tone all the "leftovers" lol I had lost 5.2 pounds last week, but this week (i couldnt resist aad i weighed early... i do not usually weigh until Sunday morning)..anyway yea.. am up 2 pnds... so yea.. I am not getting discouraged because I know that with the grace of God I am going to get this done, and be the healthy woman I was created to be.. but its still a bummer... but with the incorporation of exercise and continuing to eat as I have been I think I will be okay! Wish me luck...and again you guys are incredible and lots of luck this coming week!!!

awww thank you Cape! that's so nice of you to say!! :)

Yep that's the spirit , not to feel discouraged, its perfectly normal for weight to go up and down! besides you lost so much last week.

Good luck! and that's a really good idea to get into exercise when you are mentally ready and prepared. and since you're already so active at work, the extra exercise you do, will really sky rocket your metabolism! and you will be burning even more fat! :broc:

ps awesome you have p90x also!! :exercise:

Sunnigummi 08-22-2009 10:11 AM

Thanks Cape! I feel like I've not been doing as much as I should lately. I'm not working at the moment, so I don't have "work activity" like you do. I used to have quite a bit of exercise when I was in school, but unfortch I have to make my own exercise now. :) Don't worry about the 2 lb gain. It's just water weight from your party last night. That's happened to me so often now, I know it but it doesn't make me any less upset when I see a gain. :hug:It will drop in no time!

Chit chat question: why are the backs of my thighs so rough and itchy? I've never had rough skin before. Not counting the time I got seriously sunburned and my skin was recovering...anyone else facing this problem? It's so random! My hubby has this asinine theory that it's cause the fat's going away so it's not as smooth as it should be. :dz: Sometimes, I really wonder about him...

my confession..

exercise - day 5 of p90x.
- 40 minutes of legs and back p90x workout.

breakfast:
1 toast with olive spread magarine. with a little mince lamb.
1 cracker with cheese.

3 dates with a large glass of water.
2 small bowls of fruit salad.

total time taken for the entire meal = 40 minutes (took abit of break between appetizer and main meal)

feeling - slightly over-full. ooopsy hehe.

100ml of 7up (half a martini glass hehe)

total number of steps taken - 10,293 steps.

i am now going to have dessert of 2 kit kat fingers, i've been craving them for weeks!

hope you ladies had a fabulous day!

Sunnigummi 08-22-2009 06:27 PM

Echo, I'm impressed! 10K steps!! I only use my pedometer when I go on my evening walks and for me, I am almost breaking into 8K with my 3.5 mile walks (some days). I can't imagine hitting 10K!! Way to go!!!:carrot:

I am SOOOOOO proud of myself today!! I thought for sure I'd gorge on my lunch seeing as phyllo dough creations are another one of my superhero weaknesses. Anyhoo, the portion sizes were actually appropriate. I had two tablespoons worth of hummus and tsatsiki (whatever) that I ate maybe a teaspoon of each. The spanakopita was a 4X5 piece that I ate 1/2 of and I ate most of my greek salad (lettuce, tomato wedge, slice of cucumber, delicious kalamata olive, feta cheese). I wasn't even hungry! I didn't feel like I was forcing myself to stop. My friend and I were having an excellent conversation and I felt good about the steps I had taken with my healthy eating and weight loss so I was comfortable with stopping when I was full. I was just so elated at that. The owner who waited on us asked me if I wanted anything else because I hadn't eaten anything. That's a first! Usually because I polish my plate and look like I could go for another, :p. Anyway, I was SOOO happy with myself. Crap, I don't mean to brag. I've just never exhibited self-control (voluntarily and happily) when eating out before. Could have also been that the food was delicious and fresh-looking/tasting.

Dinner tonight is Subway. I'm definitely getting my hour of tennis in because I want my seafood subway (lossa mayo hee hee and my fave fake crab. I like it.)! I found out a 6" seafood sub is 800 cals by itself so I really need to exercise and create some deficit.

Alrighty girls, happy to see all of you are making progress!! Talk to you when I'm enjoying my mayo...I mean seafood sub. Heh.

Hydra 08-23-2009 12:40 AM

Thanks Echo!

coffee
creamer

diet dr.pepper

amish baked beans

lunch was a chicken sandwich, cranberry n 7 and 100 cal bag of cheetos
then i went to the cabin at the beach....
had a cpl glasses of red wine... cpl glasses of Smirinoff Ice coolers...(my sister and I would split a cooler each time)

*** We have Hurricane Bill heading straight for us later this afternoon... the sky is awfully grey and it is eerily calm out there right now... lots of wind and rain... we may only get hit by a tropical storm from it.. but yea should be an interesting afternoon and evening once it hits lol... hope i least keep power...

Well ladies.. I hope you all are having a great day so far.. I ma going to go and make some breakfast and cook up some chicken breast now in case of a power outage so that I will have something on hand worse case scenario.. hugs all ttys!

Be safe, chicky!! I'll be praying for you, hoping all you get is some rain. Power outtages are NOT fun. Sigh, well it looked like it was headed straight for Bermuda and at the last minute changed course, so maybe you'll have the same experience? Here's hoping!

HUGS!!

Sunnigummi 08-23-2009 05:48 PM

Gosh, Cape, I'm really hoping you're not too affected by Bill.

Here's my food confession:

Breffix - a handful of veggie straws. I know, I know, it's terribly unhealthy but they're gone now. Finally finished, so I'll get back to my normal breffixes starting tomorrow.

Lunch - Chicken jalfrezi (curried vegetables with chopped up chicken breast) and 1/2 cup (I'm guessing?) cooked white rice, 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt. 10 veggie straws. Um. The bag is officially gone now. :^:

Dinner - Black bean quesadillas. Black beans, corn, fresh tomato, green bell pepper, spice, salt. Whole wheat flour tortillas. Mine will have feta cheese.

My exercise confession:

Yesterday, we got rained out after 20 mins of tennis. Came back up and found out 10 mins later the rain stopped but we had already gotten dinner by then. Thanks, weather. :dizzy: Today, we're going out for 45 mins - 1 hr of tennis. Hopefully, we won't get rained out. :)

Well last night after dinner, I was knackered!! I may have been abit too over zealous in upping my step counter lol. so it really hit me after dinner. But because I was going to have home made pizza for dinner, I wanted to increase my step count.

my confession from yesterday:

exercise - 30 minutes of kenpo X (p90x):boxing:

breakfast - 1 french toast.
---

40 minute walk in the garden (leisurely sunday stroll lol).

general walking around the house throughout the day.

dinner -

1 large glass of water and 1 date.

then after an hour or so 3 slices of home made pizza :jeno:

I should have stopped eating after 2 slices! and even 2 and half, but I was being piggy and it was so delicious, I over ate and ended up eating 3 slices! Which I felt guilty afterwards, but its okay, its a slip up and is to be accepted according to Paul Mckenna.

I also had 2 glasses of 7up. which was very nice with the pizza hehe.

But today at dinner time, really going to stop eating when i am comfortably full and satisfied.

total number of steps taken yesterday 15,801 steps. - BUT it's not 100% accurate - but i really dont care about that - as i am more interested in seeing relative increase or decrease of steps. I keep it on as soon as i get up in the morning, and have it on me the entire day. I know that it is probably over-estimating, but I use it more as a relative number rather than an accurate number of steps.

i've been monitoring the number of steps in an excel spreadsheet all this week. and i can see that the lowest number of steps i took was last monday - 5832 steps, and the highest was yesterday and yesterday i did feel it at night time, as the heel of my feet were hurting haha. :running: even though was just walking normally throughout the day at a leisurely pace.

I think its a good pedometer. and i have noticed i will make more of an effort to move around the house more, just so i can "up" the number of steps on the read out, so its a good motivational device hehe.

have a good day girls!! see you later on tonight for todays confession

Cape, glad to hear you're alright and didn't suffer too much at the hands of Bill. You still managed to watch what you ate, so kudos!! :carrot:I know it would've been very tough for me in that situation. :)

Wowza, Echo! I've noticed that since you first starting posting on this thread your food intake has more than halved! That's amazing that you're not feeling starved and miserable and that you're satisfied with how much you're eating. That's great! :D Also, good job on the steps! I was reeling when I saw the new number... ;)

As for me, well this morning I weighed in at 164.2 (yesterday was 163.9 and the day before was 163.4). You know where I'm going with this. Actually, I'm happy I'm not seeing 165 and 166. I was seeing them for the LONGEST time. It's just that I made the mistake of setting my Vegas trip as my deadline for a mini-goal. I'm 4 lbs away which I didn't think would be that tough and it's starting to look tough. Boo. BUT I made the decision to keep plugging away. It's so funny that I just starting seeing a slew of posts from other chickies saying they were frustrated with how long it's taking...seemed to mirror my thoughts exactly. :p

I don't have much to confess since it's only 9 AM for me... will post again later tonight

Breffix: 3 fresh figs (YUM)

Yeah that's it for now. Will have a cup of tea in a bit.

Chit chat time: I met up with my friend a couple of days ago and she looked good! She's always been a little "bottom-heavy" but her upper body is ridiculously toned. When I saw her, her legs were looking way more toned - must've been from all her running she's been doing lately. For once, I wasn't jealous that someone I know was losing weight. I thought about it and I realized it was probably because I was taking care of myself and doing something about my weight. Instead of being huffy that everyone has it "so easy" and I was cursed to be fat, I was actually counting calories, watching what I ate and enjoying what I ate. I think that's made me a happy person. Well, genuinely happy person. I wish I could've said something to her, but I know she wouldn't like me commenting as it would make her think "what are you saying I was fat before?" So I said nothing. Oh well...

 to everyone. Have a good day!!
