I'm so proud of you, EZ! You never gave up. You had some trying times, but you hung in there. That's very inspirational. My weightloss efforts aren't bearing any fruit lately, but I am using you as an example that if I keep it up, it can be done! Now it's time for a celebration party! I'll bring the beer!!!

I'm having a pity party myself today. I've been SO GOOD for a week now and the scale has moved just a TAD!! SIGH! I'm just going to be patient! How often do you weigh? I was weighing everyday and I've heard we should only weigh once or twice a week.

Have a great day!
Lori

Thanks LORI ~ I have been weighing every day...it is helping to keep me focused on ONE POUND AT A TIME. If you remember from before when we were together ;) I am one that says "FORGET about the scale ~ FOCUS on eating better and exercise...THAT is why the weight comes off...NOT by standing on a scale. BUT ~ for me, right now anyway, weighing everyday is really helping me to REMEMBER and get the extra energy for that treadmill 5K each day.

Now see, the only reason I can get into that pink cheerleader outfit is that I lost weight. ;)

Keep on keepin' on, EZ!

I was definitely pitying myself yesterday after giving in to the ultimate temptation of pizza and ice cream ;_; I've been trying so hard to stay on track but things have been so messed up emotionally I'm totally going back to using food as a comfort. So I decided to turn to 3FC for some encouragement before I began spiraling down.. before I ate any leftover pizza... and come across 'Pity Party'. I read through the entire thread this morning, and boy did it give me the smile back that's been missing for quite a while :) I can stick my tongue out at that pizza now and not think about it! (at least for today :D)

Gary--(i know your name cuz I've read it so many times in the posts-- I'm Bre btw! kind of new to the forums :) ) you are so very funny and good-hearted about your weight loss ups n' downs, and it truly made me happy to read through everyone's comments, supports, additional laughs, etc. So, thanks to everyone already at the pity party for giving me the encouragement boost I need to brush off yesterday and just look forward to today and the rest of the week!

BRE ~You have come to the right place! We always have room for more PARTY PEOPLE!! We will help you through this journey! I know that I am a LOOOSER because of my FRIENDS here!!

I should shouldn't I! :carrot:

Spanish Rice:

1 lb brown rice
1 green bell pepper, chopped
a few cloves of garlic, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tbs olive oil
1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
2 15 oz cans of water

So basically pour oil in pan, add rice and vegis, saute it a bit, then add tomato sauce and water, any seasonings you may like, sometimes I will throw in a 17 blend salt free seasoning. Cover with lid, medium heat for about 40 minutes. Check rice. It should be done soon!

Thanks Jasmine ~ Looks close to Angie's, I will check with her and tell you if it's different...she is off to the airport at the moment.

Yep...but tortilla chips aren't too bad...but what's up with 12 chips being 1 serving? That just has gotta be wrong! Just wrong! ;)

Hey VEGGIE I am so serious!

In fact my son and  daughter in law  took Angie and I to California Pizza kitchen last night and I got 2 BUD LIGHT drafts!! They actually had Henekein but it was a non-alcoholic beer I didn't even know that Henekein made...non alcoholic was just not gonna do ;)

As far as how many pounds I am looking to lose...the figure I came up with was 16 ~ that would put me at 185...I thought that was a "resonable" figure and do-able on my part, with some hard work and better choices.

Have a great week-end!

EZMONEY 08-25-2007 01:04 PM

Oh woe is me :(

As I previously mentioned, my son and  daughter in law  took Angie and I out for dinner last night. We went to California Pizza Kitchen, which is always very nice.

Now friday night is often :jeno: pizza :jeno: night at our house, if Angie and I don't go out for dinner.

I used to order a large pepperoni and a large :cheese: cheese ~ plus Angie's tomato, basil garlic one. This of course if it is just knuckle head nephew eating with us. He usually has a piece or two of pepperoni and 1 piece of Angie's tomato basil pizza.

I of course used to eat a combination of half the pepperoni and half the cheese pizza to create a whole pizza gone. I would wash that down with about a 6 pack of beer...being friday night and all...Plus I would still have left-over pizza for a brunch Saturday....um-um good

So what happened yesterday? Well I rushed home from work ~ OK ~ I am lying here...I live in southern California...we don't "rush" home from anywhere at 3:30 on a friday afternoon...especially going past 2 high schools, 2 middle schools and 2 elementary schools traffic to get to my house ~

Anyway, when I do finally get home, I jump on the treadmill and do 3.25 miles on it...WHY?...heck...NO CLUE!

Fast forward to dinner ~ waitress asks "Would you like to start with an appetizer?" She must know me ;) out of my mouth comes the word "SURE"...but it must have sounded like "NO thanks"...then she asks "would you like to start with drinks while you wait for your son and  daughter in law ?" I say "I will have an MGD" which I guess sounded like "BUD LIGHT" to her. Not wanting to be rude I didn't question her hearing when she came back empty handed on the appetizers and a Bud light...in a glass.

Well, I don't know what happened but my pepperoni pizza I ordered came out shrimp scampi pizza...the extra large size I requested came back California Pizza Kitchen size...small to medium. The 6 pack I asked for came back 4 beers short.

I lost A LOT of calories that I USED to have on a friday night :(

Oh...my PITY PARTY ain't over yet  When I stepped on the scale this morning I had even lost another half a pound since wednesday...193.2 to 192.6.....

:( Oh woe is me...I am such a looooser :(

Come to my PARTY :^:

Wow... that's something! But last time I checked CPK's pizza isn't as large as the ones we have in NYC!

Um... that, I believe, is bad service. I'm forgiving, but seriously, shrimp pizza? I would've just told her to take it back...

VEGGIE ~ they are not big at all...I usually get my pizza from a mom and pop place down on the corner...their large are...well...large!

I wish I could butI am too tired after all those miles.

Should have...I always "throw" the little fish back...humm...pizza size ...maybe that is why they called it shrimp pizza.

YEAH, A WEIGHT-LOSER! :carrot:

You are too kind :)

Good Non-Alcoholic Beers:

Buckler (Heineken)
Clausthaler
Clausthaler Amber
Haake Beck (Becks)
Kaliber (Guinness)
St. Pauli NA (St. Pauli Girl)

The last one is probably the best tasting, and Haake Beck is also good.

I would never bother to drink Sharps, O'Doul's, and other American N/A beers.

Of course, these are not calorie free... But less so than those with alcohol. St. Pauli NA has under 100 cals per 12 oz.

I love the taste of beer, but I don't drink alcohol.

Jay

EZMONEY 08-25-2007 03:47 PM

Yep, that was the name of the Heineken one JAY ~ Buckler. I had never heard of or seen it before, thanks.

veggielover 08-25-2007 04:51 PM

thanks Jay! I have NEVER seen non-alcoholic beer in my LIFE, in any bar or restaurant, and its probably because I've never seen these names ever... next time I will definitely ask when I'm at Buffalo Wild WIngs!

I know its probably not calorie free, but being alcohol free is a big bonus for me!! The taste minus the warmth (dont like that)

Oh woe is me again....;)

I had to have minor surgery yesterday on an area in my mouth. Some gum work and bone grafting. Wasn't too bad. But I had limited eating because it was done after breakfast and before lunch. Had to skip lunch because of the numbness, had a light breakfast of scrambled eggs so as not to damage the area. Wasn't hungry all day...and no pain.....but....

I had made a really nice turkey sandwich that I planned on eating for lunch, since I had all that time in the morning before my appointment. Couldn't do it :(...doc said no chewing!

I did get in an extra walk with my dogs, who rewarded Angie and I with a chewed up remote control for our DVD player, we discovered when we came back from Target....

Well anyway I stepped on the scale this morning and didn't know what to expect because I could not do my morning NUMBER 2 that I do EVERY morning...must be pain pill blockage ;)

However I weighed in at 190.2....circumstances or hard work....?

It sure will be a PITY if it those pounds come back today ;)

Welcome to my PITY PARTY! ;)

alinnell 08-28-2007 11:43 AM

Gary~My dad had that surgery, as well as DH. It's very painful (as I understand). I hope your mouth heals quickly. Soup and smoothies until then!

EZMONEY 08-28-2007 09:29 PM

Thanks ALLISON ~ it actually wasn't too bad.
