Pity Party ~ All Invited

:carrot:IT'S A PITY PARTY:cb: You are all invited!

OK ~ Here is why I am throwing my own pity party. I tried to lose weight last week, something I don't do often. I did not lose a pound! Not one stinkin' pound...although I didn't gain any...but I ~

#1 Did not eat 1 Klondike bar

#2 Ate only..pretty much anyway...Good things (stuff GLORY would want ;))

#3 Got a "short" haircut

#4 Doubled flossed my teeth...TWICE a day

#5 Wore only "light" colored clothing

#6 Kept track of my beers...or at least as long as I could still count

#7 Did not snack at all after dinner

#8 Ate breakfast of oatmeal and turkey bacon

#9 Snacked only on carrots :carrot: and celery

# 10 Leaned to the low side of the digital scale

AND I DID NOT LOSE 1 NOT 1 FREAKIN' POUND!

DO I DESERVE A PITY PARTY? IF I DO WILL YOU COME?

walking2lose 07-31-2007 12:02 AM

Gary, don't fret. I'm positive it's because of your muscles - they weigh more than fat, right? ;) At least your teeth are healthy

EZMONEY 07-31-2007 12:04 AM

CLAIRE you are all :val1: ;)

JayEll 07-31-2007 07:01 AM

Ha! You crack me up, EZ! All that and you didn't lose a pound? Life is just so unfair!

Jay

HeatherAngel 07-31-2007 10:08 AM

Wow - I'm so impressed that you double-flossed your teeth, that I don't MIND that you didn't lose a pound... now go stand in front of the mirror and blind yourself with your own smile - you won't even SEE the rest of you! :lol3:

Heather :D

PS - You are very welcome - that one was free! ;)

KAR73 07-31-2007 11:47 AM

Even though Gary you didn't lose any weight. You might have lost some inches. Do your clothes fit any better?

EGR 07-31-2007 12:04 PM

Oh man, if you had just clipped your toenails! That would have done it for sure!!

lumifan4ever 07-31-2007 12:07 PM

That must be why i didn't lose a single pound this week....I didn't lean on the low side of the digital scale. I am going to have to go home and try that tonight. Then, certainly, i'll see at least one pound gone!!!

alinnell 07-31-2007 12:09 PM

Gary~give it another day (and try, just try, to go that day without your wonderful beer). I'm sure you'll see a change!!!

feelingroovy 07-31-2007 02:50 PM

Yup! I hear ya loud and clear! I'm in the same boat! Been working out consistently, eating well, doing everything right. Okay, an occasional glass of wine....but that's it. Lost zip this week and zip two weeks in a row in July. The only loss was for one week out of 4. What's up with that!? MAN!!!! I'm not happy but I'm not quitting. I did lose a few inches but my clothes still fit basically the same.

Oh!! I'll have to try leaning on the low side of the scale tonight too. Wish I had thought of that. ;)

Thanks Heather....was it FAT free ;)

I'm afraid to look, it wasn't that big to begin with ;)

A good lean to the back left corner of ours gets ya about a pound and a quarter :)

OH SURE ALLISON ~ Why don't I just pry that wine glass outta your hand and see what happens ;)

You got it GROOVY ~ also by putting the scale in front of a fan you can take advantage of the wind chill factor ~ can mean up to another quarter lost!

EZMONEY 08-01-2007 12:38 AM

OK ~ so this morning I weighed in at 199.5 :carrot:

Going with the flow of not giving up I did a few things to guarantee a loss on that scale in the morning ~

#1 NO CHEESE :cheese: today

#2 Salad for dinner

#3 Cleaned ears with Q-Tips

#4 Bought Bud LIGHT!

#5 I am now wearing low cut socks instead of over the calf

#6 Threw the comb in my pocket away ~ Like I really ever used it anyway ;)

#7 Walked briskly through the potato chip isle at the store

#8 Fed food off my plate, to my my goldens retrievers under the table ~ Angie just loves it when I do this ....:nono:

#9 Lost at least a pound :rofl::lol3: LAUGHING :lol3::rofl::lol: at the replies to my MENOPAUSE THREAD

#10 RAN 5 miles IN MY HEAD!

Poor Gary ;)

Well now, there's your problem! You've got to wear dark clothing. For one thing, everyone at least looks thinner in black (and, in the end, isn't about how we look, not the number on the scale). :s: Plus dark clothing absorbs sunlight, which makes you hot, which makes you sweat out all that water you are surely retaining that is preventing your true weight from registering on the scale. ;)

leah_0600 08-01-2007 06:11 AM

Gary, you are too funny!

ALLISON! Great job!! :woohoo: You didn't switch to those summer maragritas during the week now did ya? ;)

Sure SHANANIGANS rub it in when I'm down! I need another one now to ease the pain of this abuse ;)

mom2cole 08-01-2007 08:01 PM

Ok, here is what you are doing wrong. You have to weigh yourself first thing in the morning, naked, before you shower, and after you have had your morining BM and you are guarenteed to lose at least a pound or two! :D

EZMONEY 08-01-2007 08:09 PM

Thanks for the help mom2cole! But shouldn't I weigh in after I eat my Banana Muffin?

EZMONEY 08-01-2007 08:31 PM

Well I am feeling a little better today. I weighed in at 199.5 again this morning so, no gain. But no loss either, after all that hard work yesterday.

I was going to SURPRISE everyone at the party but I can't keep it in any longer ~ Angie and I have a new treadmill, we made room for it by giving our daughter our cross trainer since she was the only one that used it on a regular basis. So in all honesty I should be feeling :( sorry :( for myself because I did 35 minutes and 2.5 miles on it yesterday to break it in. :carrot:

I have done outstanding on my eating so far today...I will have to say that Angie is making tacos tonight so...well...overeating is probably going to take place...BUT...I will try to keep it in check.

Things I tried today to help me lose weight ~

#1 Tried that hair conditioner that makes your hair light and refreshing...humm...maybe that was the beer commercial :chin:

#2 Held my breath throughout the day to make me lightheaded :dizzy:

#3 Wore those boxers with the "butt" wore out that Angie keeps throwing away...thank goodness I empty the trash!

#4 Trimmed up that nose and ear hair

#5 Took out all the tools out of my truck I didn't need today in case I had to go by the scales.

Well ~ Back to party planning!

C-YA!

Nope, no Margarita--a couple martinis though. But tonight I'm proud to say I'm 100% dry! It's tough, though, working 10-12 hours, coming home to fix dinner for the family--I want to sit down and relax first (or at least have a glass of wine while I'm cooking). But I'll make it!

tomandkara 08-02-2007 02:14 AM

Gary, I seriously can't tell if you're completely tongue-in-cheek or if you're speaking literally. Either way, I'm getting a giggle out of this thread.

How's the new treadmill? How did you pick it out?

Kara

trooworld 08-02-2007 11:48 AM

:rofl:Gary, I must say that this thread totally cracks me up and I need it. I have been having probs getting back on track, but if I could just see the scales move, it would help me. I will try to implement as many of your tricks as possible and I am SURE I will see a pound or two lost. ;) :D Thanks for making my day.

Jen415 08-02-2007 04:53 PM

I know why you didn't lose, Gary....

--you forgot to pluck your ear and nose hair
--you probably used after shave
--and for that matter, deodorant

All that crap would definitely make you gain weight! (Don't ask me how I know!) ;)

sotypical 08-02-2007 07:22 PM

maybe you need to try standing on one leg?

How's the new treadmill? How did you pick it out? TRUTH ~ It is awesome, I will post the WHAT/WHEN/WHERE on it in the exercise area of the threads later tonight.

She laughed and said no clothes are not optional I said well then might as well leave on the shoes lol

I know you were talking to momtocole...but the last time I took off my wedding ring, Angie took off hers...I don't take mine off anymore ;) Oh, and about hair clips - do you need hair?

Hey JEN ~ I did mention that I "trimmed" my nose and ear hair...does plucking hurt much? As far as my after shave, I have been told that Old Spice IS NOT real after shave. As far as deodorant goes, we have a family "joke" that goes something like "How do I smell, baby?"...the story goes back a few years ago when a guy was hitting on my sister in law...he was drunk as a skunk and kept getting "ALL SEXY" up to her saying "how do I smell" oh, and he was dressed as ELVIS!

I don't know what to say gals but it IS NOT getting any better! I figured after a week and a half of dieting that I would be a waif of a man by now

On Monday July 23rd I weighed in at 201.2 pounds ~ today 11 days later I weighed in at 200.0 Now I do realize that is a LOSS, a loss of 1.2 pounds....BUT...alll the work I did...if YOU only knew...well I guess you do!

Seriously not 1 Klondike bar ~ popcorn 1 night only...no butter ~ breakfast every morning ~ healthy lunch and snacks ~ just a couple of beers after work...well, maybe MORE than a couple...BUT...BUT...still...1.2 pounds...go figure.

I even did treadmill work...more today...

Angie and I got a new treadmill this week (check exercise equipment thread tonight for info) So I did, 2.5 miles Tuesday, 3.5 miles yesterday and 2 times today for a total of 1 hour 40 minutes and 1,000 calories lost (I do know that isn't accurate) and 5.7 treadmill miles :carrot:

I am expecting a BIG loss on that :goodscale tomorrow! Anyway I am running out of "Helpful Hints" and I do appreciate the help gals with yours! But today I will leave you with a couple of new ones ~

#1 I switched into a smaller shoe

#2 Did not wear my hat at work

#3 Took JEN'S advice on no deodorant - side bar ~lost my working partner

#4 Carried around a coupon for $2 off on Heineken "light" beer in case I stopped at the store

#5 Last night I rubbed my skin with alcohol to remove any excess oils...OK...what actually happened was...I was in shorts and spilled beer on my lap and legs...by the time I cleaned up the mess my legs were pretty smooth ;)

That's all I got!!!!!!!!!!

BlueToBlue 08-03-2007 03:38 AM

[QUOTE=EZMONEY;1799438]Thanks for the info BARBARA, you guys are always THINKING up there by our state capitol!

Hey! I'm in the bay area; I have nothing to do with those folks in Sacramento (and especially not the one in the governor's office).

veggielover 08-03-2007 10:02 AM

IS THIS THE PARTY GARY? I DIDN'T LOSE ONE STINKIN' LB EITHER, and I don't even drink beer. ;)

katallan 08-03-2007 10:48 AM

Gary, thanks for letting me come to your party! I have had a wonderful time this morning! I have been laughing so much my coworkers came to my office to ask what was so funny! Guess I better get back to work ! :(

alinnell 08-03-2007 10:55 AM

Gary~1.2 pounds in 11 days? That's nothing to laugh at! Keep at it, don't give up, you can do it!!!!

Yep VEGGIE this is the party...what a pity isn't it? You are sure WELCOME to stay...but don't plan on losing any more weight either...at least until I come up with some better "games" to burn off those calories. Well if you're not gonna drink that beer, can I have it?

You are quite welcome KATALLAN! In fact bring the whole office, I have plenty of rice cakes I am trying to unload! :)

You are so right ALLISON ~ nothing to :rofl::lol3: at....I am still :( crying in my beer. Don't you get IT ALLISON? 1.2 pounds...that's just a TWEENKIE away from back to scratch! I don't have the luxury you do of being able to lose 1 pound everytime you leave the air conditioning and walk to your car, it hasn't gotten over 80 here all summer ;)

EZMONEY 08-03-2007 12:24 PM

Checking in with :hat: party plans early, since I took the day off from work. I weighed in at 200.0 pounds this morning...same as yesterday. I don't understand becasue yesterday I ~

Ate a healthy breakfast of oatmeal and turkey bacon ~ had a snack of some wheat crackers ~ a turkey, lettuce and tomato sandwich on flatbrerad and a yogurt for lunch ~ granola bar snack ~ burritos with leftover chicken and flank steak from the tacos the night before ( probably 1 more burrito than I needed ~ needed I said...NOT WANTED!...I WANTED 2 more! But no chips. I did have an extra scoop of pinto beans in one burrito though instead of flank steak...but I figure I took care of that this morning ;)

I went for an hour walk and 3.6 miles on the treadmill this morning....feeling like I am "workin' it" But then Angie ran the dogs for 3 1/2 miles this morning and is off at yoga now....sh'e hard to live up to...wink

I would stand on the oppisite leg then you write with? I know I favor my right leg (because I am right handed) so I would assume it has more muscle then my lazy left leg, so I stand on my left leg when I weigh ;)

But seriously though, 1.2 pounds in 11 days is awesome... I have some how manged to gain that in 11 days!

Ah yes COURTNIE, the " 'ol lazy leg" syndrome! I have heard of that...well kinda...Angie is always call me a "LAZY..ummm..BUTT ;) I have taken your advice and I have switched to those cheaper lighter pens. I don't remember the brand name but they are the ones you can eat I guess. Around my house it goes something like this ~ Knucklehead nephew "Uncle Gary, can you buy me some more ink pens for school?" (like he really uses them  I'm "like" "I just bought you 20 pens a month ago! What are you :fr: freakin' :fr: doing? EATING them?"

But seriously though, 1.2 pounds in 11 days is awesome... I have some how manged to gain that in 11 days!

HA! You know if I had to have a choice beer, it'd be Coors Light. Usually with buffalo wings. ;) Like Shananagans said, if you'd like MY WATER, I'll be more than happy to hand it over. :D Along with my wings. Well, maybe just 1 wing before I hand it over to you. :o

OK So the PITY continues...it looked like a pretty good day. I did the treadmill for 3.1 miles this morning, ate healthy all day, did another 3.1 on the treadmill late this afternoon. That is 2 5K's in one day!

My daughter stopped by with some free time before a bikini wax, she decides to try out the new treadmill. As she is trying it out, I am telling her my woe is me story on how all I have lost in 11 days is 1.2 pounds. Now keep in mind my daughter graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors from college, is getting ready to start her second year of grad school towards her Masters, is a research anaylst for a company that works with NAVY SEALS and Fighter pilots ~ pretty much can tell you all about kinetics...anyway she comes up with this.."Well Daddy, don't get too upset just yet, it takes 3,500 calories to burn off 1 pound, it will take time."

Needless to say once she mentioned 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound, my mind went to ~

Ma~Nam~a~Nah ~ doo ~ doo ~ da ~ doo doo ~ Ma ~ Nam ~ A~ Na~ doo doo doo ~ doo OVER and OVER!

tomandkara 08-04-2007 04:07 AM

Gary, it's hot as hades here with the humidity to boot and I'm retaining water because of it. At least that's what I'm blaming my non-existant loss on. In fact, in July I *gained* four pounds. And that's with running five miles twice a week, walking about four miles a day, eating 1500 calories or less a day, and being motivated. So stop whining about your 1.2 pound loss :) 'cuz I'd trade you no-over-eighty-degree-days AND a 1.2 pound loss for this mess I'm in!

Kara
