Hello! We're a group of people who are here to encourage each other in our healthy eating and exercise struggles. Please join us!
Hi all! It sure has been quiet around here. Is everyone out enjoying themselves? I just came from a Grey Cup party. (For those of you who don't know - it's the Canadian equivalent to the Super Bowl) The team I was cheering for lost but we had a blast anyway. There were approx. 50 people at this party - mostly the youth from our church. I had only one piece of pizza and behaved myself for the most part.
Have a great week. Please post. We need you and also want to be there for you in your struggles.
Blessings!
I am praying that things are going well in your struggles this week. We had a wonderful thanksgiving DH father was here and we were told two months ago he would never make it to thanksgiving! Not only did he make it he is doing great!
Hi! Glad to hear that your Thanksgiving went well Sami. And Praise the Lord that you still have your FIL with you and that you were able to be together.
I'm still here struggling with my health/weight loss issues. I am eating properly but maybe too much of it. I also need to exercise and I can feel it in my body especially around my middle. I need to start journalling again.
Here's what I've eaten so far today:
Breakfast: 2 slices WW toast with 1 tbsp. P butter and 1 tbsp. jam. Coffee.
Lunch: 1 WW pita with 1 oz. ham, lettuce and cucumber. Salad with cucumbers and mushrooms and 1 tbsp. Italian dressing.
1 apple.
I do really well until after I get home. I'll let you know how I did tonight. I have some work to do when I get home so maybe I won't have time to get into things!!
Please come back all you who are missing and may be lurking out there. We need you!!
If you get a chance read today's Our Daily Bread devotional. It is so appropriate for those of us struggling.
As Hitler was mounting his attack against England during World War II, Winston Churchill was asked to speak to a group of discouraged Londoners. He uttered an eight-word encouragement: "Never give up! Never, never, never give up!"
There will be times when you'll be discouraged in your Christian walk, but you must never, never, never give up. If nothing else, your struggle against sin will cause you to turn to God again and again and cling to Him in your desperation.
In his book The Fight, John White writes, "It is the man or woman who gets up and fights again that is the true warrior . . . . Strengthen yourself with a powerful draught of the wine of Romans 8:1-4. Then get back into the fight before your muscles get stiff!"
What's required is dogged endurance, keeping at the task of obedience through the ebbs and flows, ups and downs, victories and losses in life. It is trying again, while knowing that God is working in you to accomplish His purposes (Philippians 1:6; 2:13). It is persistently pursuing God's will for your life till you stand before Him and your work is done.
God is wonderfully persistent too. He will never, never, never give up on you! —DHR
O Lord, You are faithful and always will be,
You never give up on working with me;
So as I am striving to serve You each day,
Help me to follow Your will and Your way. —Fitzhugh
Perseverance can tip the scales from failure to success.
Good morning,
Thank you Wilma for that Great Post! Things have gone a little crazey around here I had several days were I was in such pain I was almost take to the hospital. It felt like I was having a gallbladder attack but I had my gallbladder out 8yrs ago! I had some test ran and I am still waiting to hear the out come. Please keep My friend Tom in your prayers he has been out of work for 8 months and Mon he was put in the hospital he has a viral infection.
I praying that when I check back I will see some new replies!
Have a Blessed Day!
Sami
It looks like it's just you and me for now Sami! I hope everything is okay with everyone else. Please come back. We need you!!
I had a wonderful day yesterday. After church we went out for lunch with friends, went to get our tree and then had supper at friends. It was a nice relaxing day and a great kick off for the Christmas season.
I maintained my weight this week. My goal is to lose 10 lbs. or at least keep my weight stable throughout the winter. I behaved yesterday but allowed myself a small bowl of trifle. It was really rich and all I needed.
I have a very busy week so hopefully I can concentrate on doing instead of eating!
Have a great day! Please come back and post even if things aren't going well for you.
Hi!
Wilma and Sami, I do not know if you remember me but I used to post on this thread about 6 months ago. I have also been posting in another place, and well I just found it too hard to keep up with both! (I am short a few brain cells from thinking for my kids all the time! ) Anyway, the thread that I have been keeping up with has been so slow- as I see that it has been here.
I do not remember this time last year it being so quiet here, do you? Anyway, I do "check in" here from time to time, to see what is up with everyone. I am glad to see that you are both still here as I was blessed by your friendships earlier.
Are either of your churches having a special prayer service Tuedsay nite? (well, Wilma, I guess that it would not apply to you being up in Canada). Tuesday nite there will be a prayer meeting in the Rotunda between the Senate and House chambers in Washington DC. for a prayer meeting with President Bush and the Supreme Court. I do not like to get political here, but this is so monumental. It has been about 100 years since there has been a prayer meeting there!!!!! I am just so awed seeing the Lord at work here, and will be at my church tomorrow nite praying for my country, and peace in the world.
As far as me and my weight loss journey, I am back on WW and doing fairly well. I have lost over 10 pounds since mid October, and hope to get to 160 by Christmas. (although if I have another day like today, I will be lucky to maintain!!!! ).
Wilma, I am glad to here that you maintained last week. Not an easy thing to do this time of year!! And Sami, I will pray that your tests come out ok.
Have a good nite, and I hope that you do not mind that I checked in!
Ginny
Good Evening!
I was so happy to see some new Posts and ECmom I have missed you! Welcome back! The Dr office said they had my tests back and that they would call me today but guess what They didn't call! I guess that is a good sign it can't be that bad or they would be calling?
Wilma-It must smell wonderful in your house with that real tree. I really miss getting a real tree but I keep mine up for at least 5-6 weeks.
It has been really warm here in Indy and that is killing sales (I work retail) Who wants to do Christmas shopping when it is 75 out? Please keep Me in your prayers I am worried that they may downsize at my Job if things keep going like they are. I have not seen things this bad in a long time.
Hello! Good to see you again ECMOM! I do remember you and hope you stay with us. This post has been really slow lately and I really need the support especially this time of year. It sounds like you're off to a good start. Keep it up! I had not heard about the prayer meeting but we do pray for your country - for wisdom for the leaders. What happens in the US does affect us up here too!
Sami: I sure hope your tests turn out to be good news. I'll keep praying! It's amazing that the weather controls our emotions so much isn't it? I don't feel like shopping until there's a snow fall either. Do you want me to pray for snow?
We're putting our tree up tomorrow evening. It had a lot of frost on it and it needed to sit in the garage to dry off. I do love the smell in the house but the needles aren't the best part! I also will put up my village and nativity and get out the decorations. I love the cozy feeling I get this time of year.
I had a really good WOE yesterday. I think I finally have some control. Now if I can only get moving!
Southern Ontario checking in.
DD & myself are maintaining.
We seem to be stuck for the moment but if we can get through the holidays without gaining we'll be extremely pleased.
DD is @ 160 lbs. down from 180.
I @ 174 lbs. down from 198. The 2 of us would love to see that 130 mark once more. The clothes are fitting much nicier and at this time of the year, its great.
We've got a regular heat wave going on here, no snow in sight.
Lots of damp, drizzle, fog and temperatures in the 50 degree range. The kids aren't thrilled and neither are we mom's/grandma's/babysitter's, who detest "mud". I spent this morning grooming our horse Classy who loves to roll in this mud.
After 1 1/2 hrs. she looked much better thus the 2 little ones and myself, with goat Spunky tagging along, went for a walk up the sideroad. Quite the procession, we had passing cars laughing at this outing. Hard to believe with this weather that Christmas be drawing near. I am a Christmas lover! The tree is up, artificial of course as its up until after my January birthday. The kids sit in front and admire the many ornaments collected through out my years. This year, like all others, a new one will be added. I also purchase one for my DS (15 yrs.) and place them in a collection I began the Christmas he was born. Hopefully a future daughter-in-law will approve of our choices.
Well the DS and myself are heading out the door to his piano lessons now. Hugs to you all, and God Bless!
Good Evening!
Thanks for the kind welcome back!
Wilma- I can almost smell your tree down here in New York state!
We are getting a live tree this year for the first time in years, and I am looking foward to the wonderful smell! (and our 6 month old kitty trying to knock the tree over!)
Sami- any test results yet? I hope that your job is not affected by this slowdown of the economy, and that some more winter like weather shows up to boost sales! We have also had almost spring like weather. I miss the cold.
Joanne- Your tree sounds wonderful- do you collect any kind of special ornament? We had started a tradition like that with a new ornament each year, and it fell by the wayside. Wonderful news that you and DD are doing so well losing weight! I hear you about weighing 130#- but that was a bit of a hard weight for me to keep at age 25, and I am a few years older now- 3 kids later! I would be happy at 135.
Tomorrow is weigh in for me! For the most part, today I was "op", I let dinner slip a bit but the rest of the day I was under points, so I doubt that my extra eating put me over.
I did get to church tonite and spent almost an hour in prayer for my country and the world. Not too many showed up- but at the peak there were 5 of us praying (using 2 Chronicles 7:14 as a key scripture).
Gotta go. Have a peaceful nite!
Ginny
What a blessing we had 4 post in one day! Now that is an answer to a prayer! I have to say I have been terrible staying OP all the Christmas goodies are starting to show up everywhere! The Dr. didn't call today I will call Wens to see if they will tell me anything. When I called Friday they had the results but the Dr had not seen them yet so I had to wait for him to see them. My Neighbor came over today and wanted to see my house because her Kids had told her about all my decorations. My Cat has already knocked down my 3 ft tree once. I put up a tree in my livingroom and diningroom, sunroom, familyroom and three of the bedrooms. I love the cozy feel of Christmas!
Wilma-I guess I don't want to ask for snow but if God gives it to me I will be thankful!
Ginny-I think with the New threats out there we all better be praying. I know for a fact that they have call more reserves back to active duty. I wish they would tell us what to look for unstead of the open comment that they have reason to belive that there will be more attacks. How in NY doing now?
JoAnn-Wow you and your DD are Doing GREAT!!!! You have just gave me new hope to meet my goal! I can't wait until I can share such good news.
Your in my prayers stay strong in the Lord and this trail to shall pass!
Sami
Hi!
I just lost my post!!!!!!!!! So this will have to be short.
I weighed in this am and lost 2# (down to 162.5#).
Sami,I pray that your results are good from the MD. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. You are in His precious hands!
Have a great day.
Ginny
Hello all! It's so great to see you posting. I know there are more of you out there. Please come back!
EC: Way to go on your weight loss!! You're doing great! We weigh approximately the same. How tall are you? Our goals are approximately the same.
Sami: I'm praying for you. The doc will have good news for you! Let's make a goal to maintain our weight over Christmas. For me this means more exercise if I'm going to eat more.
Gutchie: You're doing great! I know what you mean about the mud. My entrance is so gross during that season. I feel like I can never keep it clean. I'm glad that our temperature has dropped and that we have snow. It's much cleaner!!
I love your tradition about collecting ornaments. I have done a little of that but have not been faithful. One thing I do is buy myself an angel each year. I usually get them on sale after Christmas so I have a new thing to look forward to the next year. It goes well with my nativity.
We had our care group Christmas party last night. It was a fun evening of playing games and eating (of course). We also had a nice prayer time.
My DS is into studying and exams in Bible School. Please pray for him. It's a tough time with having to concentrate on studying when there's all the festivities going on. He comes home for a 3 week break on the 15th. We're looking forward to having him at home.
Have a super day! Keep posting! You don't know what a boost it is for us when you do!!
Thanks for all the encouragement girls.
Staying on points isn't easy during this festive season.
But DD and myself will keep on, keeping on.
I collect all types of ornaments. We have those full of memories such as a Firefighting Helmet marking the days I once was a fire dispatcher with our local Volunteer Fire Department. Musical ornaments marking my DH & DS's love of music, our son playing piano into his 4th. year now. Ribbons & Bows in my favourite colour "red", ornaments made by DS & DD during 4-H projects,
ones the little one's have chewed while teething, and then those made by the kids travelling on my school bus during those 10 yrs. I drove school bus. Each ornament adorning our tree brings a "memory" of Christmas's past. Our Lord and Saviour is represented of course, by the golden little Church placed front and center. DS and I now looking for that new ornament of this season.
I'm off now doing laundry, dishes, and chasing little babysitting jobs. God Bless you all!
