Bummed I tell you bummed. I ordered this cute vegan shirt (cow-hugger) and it's too snug! They did warn that the sizes run small but you know I'm hard-headed and went ahead and ordered it. It's sitting on top of my dresser as motivation right now!

THE Heather 10-11-2008 02:53 PM

Hey! At least you have motivation!

Sometimes that's all we need :D

iriswhispers 10-11-2008 11:09 PM

aww... sounds like an awesome shirt, though! I'm sure you'll be able to wear it soon. =)

JulieJ08 10-12-2008 12:21 PM

At least today's breakfast was great :). Not only really yummy (whole/multigrain pancakes, fresh strawberries, Greek yogurt with a little maple syrup, vanilla & cinnamon in it), but easy too, because I had leftover pancakes frozen in the freezer.

Yesterday's breakfast was a disaster. Trader Joe's Super Firm tofu is too firm for scrambled eggs (ate them anyway, of course, and they'll be good in a warp today). I burnt my sweet potato fries and had to throw them out. Made toast instead, wondered why it was taking so long ... toaster wasn't plugged in. Other stuff I've repressed already.

Mmm, there's still yogurt in the bowl, must go lick it out ;).

JulieJ 1 1/2 lbs loss! :cheer2: Kindy 1 lb gone! :cheer2: Chickpea 1 1/2 lbs for you! :cheer2:

Everyones doing great, and if we have maintained, lost a little or lost a lot that is wonderfuL! If we have gained... maybe its our body just trying to slow us down :) We can do it!

1/2 pound loss for me :) I know I could be trying harder, but since I'm newly vegan I don't want to rush anything. Oh well, as long as I lose something! I might need to kick my butt soon, I ordered a corset to wear for halloween, and ordered Large, then after I ordered realized I might need a XL. So we'll see! FATCHICKBGONE glad your cute shirt is motivation, I might be in the same boat soon! ;)

jasmine987 10-13-2008 12:37 PM

So sorry about my tardiness! I am down 3lbs

Fat Chick B Gone 10-13-2008 01:02 PM

I'm at 204.4 - BAH up front last week. Could I please just get below 200??? Please, pretty please? Seriously someone wire my mouth shut and strap me to a treadmill for a day or two - that's all it would take!

jillnicole03 10-13-2008 01:54 PM

Thank you for your weigh-ins... we still have some others they need to weigh in as well! :)

BGONE.. You can make onederland I know you can!!

Sheila53 10-13-2008 10:27 PM

157.5 for me.

jillnicole03 10-14-2008 09:31 AM

Hey Sheila! Thanks for your weigh in :) How have you been doing!!

iriswhispers 10-14-2008 01:50 PM

mmm... i just got a recipe for vegan mac and cheese made w/ nutritional yeast. My co-worker was eating it for lunch the other day and it smelled sooo good, so I asked for the recipe. I can't wait to try it - but probably not till the weekend.

jillnicole03 10-15-2008 08:07 AM

I've never used nutritional yeast, but thats sounds yummy :) Let us know how it turns out.

Darby1 10-15-2008 09:46 AM

Hey there, I'm just checking in.

Heather-your t-shirt sounds cute! You'll be wearing it in no time!

Iris-I love vegan mac & cheese. I probably make it once a week. It's easy and delicious!

jillnicole-nutritional yeast is wonderful for making cheesy-type sauces. It's got B-vitamins in it too that vegans have a hard time getting, so it's good for us.

I've been awful these past few days. I haven't worked out and I definitely haven't been eating right. I'm scared to get on the scale on Friday!

On Saturday we're supposed to go to Boulder and have lunch. I get to decide where we eat and I'm having a tough time. There's a burger place that's all plant-based and organic. But I just found out there's a Chinese restaurant that has it's own vegan menu. There are about 28 vegetarian or veg-friendly restaurants in Boulder, according to HappyCow. In my crummy town there are 4 (and those only have one or two veg-options) which is strange because we have 2 colleges and kind of a hippie vibe in some parts of town.

Anyway, if I'm going out to eat on Saturday I need to go work out!

Have a great day!

erinmagill 10-15-2008 12:48 PM

ooops! Im very late, but Im now 230...down 8lbs!

jillnicole03 10-15-2008 01:26 PM

Great job Erin! :cheer2:

Our next weigh in is on Friday, so be ready! :) We officially have 16 days until halloween and 3 fridays!

jillnicole03 10-16-2008 08:07 AM

Hey everyone! Good morning :)

So yesterday I had some brussel sprouts and usually pre-vegan I would eat them in cheese sauce. So I was thinking of my ideas. They ended up turning out soooooooooooooo good! So I thought I'd share.

First I steamed them for about a minute and 30 seconds. Just by taking the frozen brussel sprouts and putting them in a microwaveable bowl with a lid. While they were heating up I put Tbls of Olive Oil in a small pan, chopped up fresh garlic in to small chunks but not too small and added it to the oil, salt and crushed red pepper also. I then put my brussel sprouts in and let them 'fry' for about 10 minutes. Stirring frequently. At the very end I added a Tbls of Garlic Hosein sauce (in the asian food aisle) then left it in th epan another minute.

Oh my goodness, it was really quick and easy and SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!

Fat Chick B Gone 10-16-2008 01:44 PM

ohhh those sound good Jill. I'm still learning to appreciate brussel sprouts and normally put a tomato sauce over them.

jillnicole03 10-17-2008 08:11 AM

Hello Ladies! Thank Goodness It's FRIDAY!!!! :) That's for sure!

TODAY IS WEIGH IN!!! YUP ALREADY ANOTHER WEIGH IN!!

So weigh in as soon as you can :) We have 1 more Friday, and the week after that it is our final Halloween Weigh in!! Then of course we can have a new challenge if everyone is up for it ;)

ME/JILL:
Last week 175
This week 173

Yay finally busted through my 1/2 lb loss a week... 2 lbs this week :) I think all the walking I did at the Scarowinds Amusement Park helped! Hope everyone else did well, but of course if you gained or you lost never quit, always try, and always 3fc!

Fat Chick B Gone 10-17-2008 10:18 AM

Jill - I have a season pass to Carowinds and went to Scarowinds a few weekends ago - you do get your walking in!!

I'm down to 202.4 today which is only a 6lb loss for this challenge but I'm feeling my mojo coming back which is more important. I also went closet shopping (I do so about every 6 weeks) and even though my weight hasn't changed much I was pleasantly surprised about some things I could fit into now :)

JulieJ08 10-17-2008 10:28 AM

151.5 today. Slow, but I can live with that. I'm just thrilled that I'm actually still losing after I stopped counting calories. :)

And guess what?! Today was my last day of C25K!!! I can hardly believe it. *Lots* of running progress left to make, but dang, it all feels so doable now. :carrot:

jillnicole03 10-17-2008 11:57 AM

You ladies are doing great! Slow is hard for us to deal with, but great for our body and keeping it off long term! :) :cheer2:

EVERYONE ELSE DONT FORGET TO WEIGH IN :)

jillnicole03 10-17-2008 01:28 PM

Okay I love sharing what I eat with you all :) Cuzz I'm odd lol So I had a red potato today with vegenaise (vegan mayo) mixed with some buffalo sauce. Really good! Love finding new things I like.

jasmine987 10-17-2008 09:07 PM

yumm never thought of adding buffalo sauce. I made the same but added dill instead still quite yummy.

Anyways I am the same I was hoping to drop a few pounds

270

KindyMom 10-17-2008 09:39 PM

Today I am 157.5. I have been inspired lately by watching "You Are What You Eat" on BBC America. Does anyone else watch that?

iriswhispers 10-18-2008 02:00 AM

friday already? wow... this week went fast. I'm still not stepping on the scale - part of loving myself and trying to be healthy right now is not letting myself focus on how much I weigh.

weird but after reading some of your recent posts i could really go for some brussels sprouts... they're not my favorite but i haven't had them in a long time and they sound VERY appetizing the way you prepared them!

rock on ladies, keep at it - halloween is almost here!

kierr 10-18-2008 09:20 AM

I'm down another pound, 208. The weight loss has slowed but it is still coming off. :)

jillnicole03 10-18-2008 09:27 AM

JASMINE... I usually add dill! How funny :) Love dill potato salad mmmm..... but this time I tried the buffalo sauce.. yumm.

KINDyMom... That sounds like something I'd love to watch! I don't know if we have that channel, I'll have to check!

IRIS... no problem that you're not weighing,, definitely pick up some brussel sprouts! :) How's everything else been with you lately?

KIERR.. Yay 1 lb :) Thats great!

FOR ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO GET IN ON THE FRIDAY WEIGH IN.. I WILL POST MONDAY MORNING. :)

CHICKpea3241 10-18-2008 10:40 AM

Hii Girls!!

You all are doing great!
When I weighed in yesterday I was 146. I think some of us are losing slow is probaly because our bodies are at a comfortable level. Well atleast I think thats whats goin on w/ me. BUt definitely on a positive note....I have a past of juggling 10 lbs up and down (almost everytime i would lose, i would be at that weight for maybe a week then gain it right back..I know its the typical yo yo) but since joining you girls i've pretty much stayed the same. So I thankyou all for always being there for support:grouphug:

Hope u all have a fabulous weekend!

KindyMom 10-18-2008 11:35 AM

jillnicole03, if you don't have BBC America, you can find some of the shows on YouTube. Just search for "You Are What You Eat BBC" and you will get a lot of episodes.

erinmagill 10-18-2008 09:12 PM

Last week I was 230, this week 228.....8 more pounds! I have high hopes!

rdw1 10-19-2008 09:19 AM

Hi girls- I have been gone for so long its like there is no catching up with yall! Thats ok though- I am sure there will always be another challenge... I just saw where you were thinking on how to eat your brussel sprouts jill and I was remembering when I was a kid my mom always used to make them with a nutritional yeast gravy that suprisingly enough was pretty good! and very healthy!

jillnicole03 10-19-2008 11:23 AM

CHICKpea... Good for you, sometimes just staying the same weight can be the most difficult!!

Kindymom... I didnt even think of youtube! Thank you! :)

ERIN... you can do it!! We know you can! :cheer2:

RDW/RIKKI.... Mmm that sounds yummy! Even if you arn't losing you can still always post! I think after our halloween challenge we can do a christmas challenge. Dont forget about us!!

HOPE YOU ALL ARE HAVING A GREAT WEEKEND :)

iriswhispers 10-19-2008 02:31 PM

quick question... I want to try this recipe for vegan mac& cheese my coworker gave me. It's made with nutritional yeast. Where in the grocery store would I find that?

I'm doing okay, as I mentioned, letting the scale collect dust for awhile and trying to focus on getting healthy. I started putting stickers on my wall calendar for good days (nothing like a little grade-school style motivation) and I can say that I had 4 good days this week. Really I should say 5 because the fact that I ate a few cookies Friday at a social event isn't the end of the world.

enjoy the rest of your weekend!

jillnicole03 10-19-2008 05:05 PM

Iris you can do it I know you can! I have no clue where you'd find nutritional yeast, I'm always walking around the grocery store like a idiot lol in circles.. trying to find anything!!! They hide things I swear! lol

rdw1 10-19-2008 06:41 PM

I always get it at the local healthfood store or from the co-op.... I think maybe it would be in the health food section of the grocery, not sure though!

I will keep posting and popping in occasionally! I am gearing up to start fresh with South beach tomorrow! Lots of good food bought this afternoon for the week! I will definitely be in for a Christmas challenge! I am still challenging myself for halloween just after gaining from the wedding and honeymoon my goal is to be back under 200! Sheesh!

iriswhispers 10-19-2008 09:11 PM

The store I usually shop at is a big health food store... but I have no idea where the nutritional yeast would be located! I tried looking all over last time I was there, thought about asking but I have some anxiety issues and I just couldn't.

JulieJ08 10-19-2008 09:31 PM

I bought it for the first time at Wholefoods - it was in the vitamin and supplement area. Big can, like the ones protein powder comes in.

Skinny Teen 10-20-2008 06:45 AM

Hey! I'm new here! Thought I'd give the challenge a go.
I'm a lacto-vegetarian. Been that way for 3 months! I started doing it for the animals, but discovered I lost 5 pounds without trying.

One day I'll drop the milk and become vegan. :3

Fat Chick B Gone 10-20-2008 08:41 AM

Nooch (nutritional yeast) - I've only found it in the "health" food stores. I buy it in the bulk bins because it's quite a bit cheaper there. You can also order it online.

Welcome skinny teen!

Have a good day all!
