Default Vegetarian Chicks Food Log

So there's a food log for the Vegans... but what about us vegetarians, lacto/ovo or either/or. Where can we own up to our mistakes and make smilies dance when we do awesome? Why can't we have a dancing carrot?!?!?!

Allrighty, so post if you want, don't if you don't.

So here's my stats for the day:

1 cup green tea
quesidilla with 1/2 can vegetarian refried beans, 1/4 cup reduced fat Mexican blend cheese, tomatillo sauce
1/2 c canned peaches
(I'm a college student, and I haven't gotten around to buying fresh fruit yet)

You can have all the dancing carrots you want!!!

I think there used to be a vegetarian food thread in the recent past...not sure where it is.

I hope you are able to get some fresh food soon (and that you eat more than what you posted in an entire day too ).

Oh geez, no, I ate more! I've been sick, so watching what I eat hasn't been top priority... and I went to the mall yesterday and had mall food.

For the rest of yesterday:
200 calorie smoothie from Tropical Smoothie
nachos
popcorn (like a handful)
fried rice
lo mein
mixed veggies

So yesterday not so good, and I haven't been awake for more than 20 min. So here's for this morning so far:
fruit smoothie with banana, peaches, skim milk and ice
water

yea, I know, ubt my throat hurts and apparently my bread molded without me knowing about it, or I would have had peanut butter toast. But its ok. I'm not super hungry and I don't feel like chewing anyways, lol.

:c arrot:

I just found this thread! You know, I was thinking the same thing about there needing to be a vegetarian food log thread and I'm glad you acted on it and actually made one!

Here's what I've had so far:

Breakfast -
1 slice homemade pumpkin bread - 226 cals
1 banana - 121 cals

Lunch (that I actually ate at 6:30 because I was busy) -
1/2 Amy's Pesto Pizza - 465 cals
1 Fabulous Organic Valencia Orange - 62 cals

Dinner - I don't know yet, but it looks like I need some veggies. I think I'll make a stir fry with some frozen mixed veggies and some tempeh, since I didn't think ahead to press my tofu. I'll update later on dinner.

Unless people get offended, we could perhaps combine efforts to make one big Vegetarian/Vegan Food Log.

Well, my food is always vegetarian So I can always post in both places!

I wouldn't say I am "offended" when the vegan food log isn't kept vegan...but that being said, I see a reason that the vegan food log should be for anyone who happens to have a vegan food day!

I do like the vegan food log to actually be vegan so people can see what a vegan eats, how much variety there is and how it can be done deliciously and in a balanced way, because some people don't think veganism can be good, fun and easy!

Good point.

Okay, so I left dinner kind of hanging in the open... so let me finish off my food day.

Dinner -
1 Cedarlane Couscous & Veggie Wrap - 220 cals

Evening Snack/Dessert -
1 cup Low-fat Strawberry Banana Kefir - 174 cals
1 cup fresh strawberries - 49 cals
1/3 cup fresh blueberries - 27 cals

So that brings my calorie total for the day to 1346. I did fine on calories, but I wish I would have gotten in more fiber and less sugar. I tried to get in more veggies, but didn't have the energy to actually put any effort into a meal. Oh well. Usually I get the majority of my veggies in at lunch with a veggie stuffed whole wheat pita, but they were out of the pitas at the store yesterday so I'll have to check back maybe tomorrow to see if they've got more in. It sucks how the grocery store being out of something can throw your whole groove off... haha

Lindsey, what level of calories do you stay within (and where were you at when you began?)? I ask because I have tried to eat anywhere between 1200 and 2100 at different times and weights, ya know?

SoulBliss, I've actually UPPED my calories as my weight loss journey has gone on. When I started out, I usually ate around 1250-1300 cals a day because I concentrated on eating TONS of veggies and low cal things. My weekly average might have been a little higher though because when I lived in Texas I usually ate out on the weekends at restaurants that didn't have nutritional information available. I tried to order healthy, but you never know what they add to some things...

Nowadays I usually eat around 1400 calories, depending on how hungry I am I might go a little higher or lower. It just depends. And on the weekends, I allow myself to have a treat if I want it. Like this weekend, for example, I made some pumpkin bread and had some for dessert.

Today's Food:

Breakfast -
1 slice Pepperidge Farm Honey Flax Bread - 100 cals
1 tbsp Peanut Butter & Co. Cinnamon Raisin Swirl PB - 80 cals
1 cup ff stonyfield farm strawberry yogurt - 130 cals

Lunch -
1 Garden Veggie Wrap from school - 419 cals

Snack -
1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese - 90 cals

Dinner -
1 Amy's Veggie Loaf frozen dinner - 280 cals
1 bag Steamfresh Singles Brussels Sprouts - 50 cals

Dessert (planned) -
1 cup lowfat strawberry banana kefir - 174 cals
1 plum

Total: 1353

I actually think I did really well today nutrition wise with protein and fiber. For some reason though I ate dinner really early because that wrap from lunch just did NOT hold me for some reason.

Wow, there's been a lot of convos without me!

I would've put the rest of yesterday up last night, but my the internet went out in my whole dorm. So here's the rest of yesterday:

Veggie pie (light cream of celery soup, mixed veggies, light cheese, frozen hash browns)
2 cups milk
2 cups water

That brings yesterday's calorie count up to 1710.5 cal, 31.8 gms/fat, 37.2 gms/fiber.

For today:

Breakfast
small apple
1 oz light cheese
spicy sushi roll
vegetable egg roll
Fruzion

Lunch:
bean burrito quesadilla
2 c salad
nectarine

Dinner:
3 oz cheese
1/2 can refried beans
whole grain Rice-a-Roni

Snack:
baked chips
light french onion dip

2808 calories, 70 gms/fat, 54.4 gms/fiber. I had no idea it was this bad today, but its been raining and I got soaked coming back from class. I've also been super tired today. Tomorrow I'm going to finally make it to the gym for some cardio, strength training, and a yoga class hopefully.

Ok, I had an 8 am class that I was almost late for, and then had to hit the bank to transfer money. Now I am back and about to head upstairs to cook myself some breakfast. So I'll go ahead and throw in the stats before I get outta here.

Breakfast:
1 c frozen hashbrowns
1 cup diced onions and tomatoes
1/4 c light shredded cheese
1/2 c Eggbeaters
small pear
2 c water
371 calories, 6.5 gms/fat, 7.5 gms/fiber

Oh yea, that's more like it.

Soulbliss: We should get together and cry in our food-posting loneliness, and bring in the dancing carrots!

I'm glad this thread got started, I can post here on my non-vegan days

I often don't post my menu because I eat the same stuff over and over again much of the time. It's kind of sad I guess, but keeping it simple helps me stick with better choices. Once in a while I still try new things though, I'm more likely to post those.
