No, we don't want to do anything to rock the boat. Apart from her, we like living here and now that DH understands what she's doing its a lot easier for me to handle. Luckily he's completely not interested - the problem is that he is good looking and friendly - but he doesn't know that he's good looking and she misinterprets the friendliness. We have almost stopped socialising with them now - we only ever invite them here or accept invitations there when its a BBQ with other people present.
I almost forgot to say, I went into a running shop yesterday evening and bought my first pair of proper running shoes . The guy wanted me to run on a treadmill in front of him, and I was so embarrassed with my arse wobbling all over the place! He was very friendly though and made no comments/looks about me being too overweight to do this, which I know was unlikely, but I still expected it for some reason.
My hairdresser also asked if I'd lost weight, I know he was just being smarmy because of his job, but it still felt good. With my fab new hairdo, I just waltzed through town with my hair bouncing up and down, my stomach held in and a smile on my face - fantastic.
I find running shops the most intimidating place, but the staff in them are usually so lovely. I was actually sweating buckets the first time I went to buy trainers, and I didn't really want to go in at all!
I'm getting more used to running shops now, although I still ordered my last trainers off the internet rather than going in there... The worrying thing is that I tend to find more than I want to buy in a running shop than in a normal shop at the moment! Kylie can vouch for how excited I get when I see a shop selling running stuff...
It will be quiet round here next week with Frus in France and Kylie in Aus!
I popped into a leaving do on the way home from work but couldn't be bothered with drinking without eating so came home, went to stock up on veg and I'm settling in front of the tv for the evening. I've got a couple of longish runs over the weekend (I think it's 7 and 13 miles) so I don't want to be hungover! It's worrying when I'd rather run than drink... I planned my meals this morning so I had my shopping list handy on the way home. Lots of nice food to look forward to over the weekend now
I really must put some stuff on ebay this weekend and do some cleaning and tidying. Dull but necessary.
I've been looking at flights too, will have to wait til after Oz though. I can't wait, I am scarily excited. Got a 10k planned for the beginning of September in Glasgow as part of my training. I wanted to do a 5k in August, at the beginning of August, but I can't find one locally, and I think the travelling budget is getting a little stretched
I'm nearly packed, well apart from the ironing staring at me. I managed to find all my bits of documentation and that's all packed. And my running stuff!
I was terrified going into the running shop. I really hated the whole experience, apart from the lady helping me. She was really nice. I'm going to go and get fitted again after I come back (if I can't talk the mother into buying me some running shoes in Oz hehehehe).
I love going into sports shops. Nothing nicer than a new tank top and a nice pair of gym trousers!
Oh god I have eaten everything in sight today. On Friday's the drug reps bring
in loads of goodies. I have eaten like a pig, I have taken this food fest into
the evening. No exercise just the stress of my two boys constantly fighting
added to that the youngest fella has his friend staying, and work being a bit crap too. A long story which I won't bore you with.
I havent been to the gym in almost two weeks which is very unlike me. I have
walked though but not enough to break a sweat!!!
Have a lovely time back home Kykaree, and Frustrated enjoy France have a fantastic time come back to us safely.
I intend letting it all hang out in my garden this weekend, and eating only healthy food.
Right, 6 miles at marathon pace done on the . 10k to be accurate. The sun seems to be trying to come out so hopefully if I get some inside jobs done I can sit in the garden this afternoon and veg out a bit.
Right... try again.... (every time I've visited 3FC today my 'puter has crashed!)
All you runners have got me feeling lazy so, after I've finished this 12 week BfL Challenge (which will be at the end of next week) I'm going to introduce some running in to my cardio schedule. I'll probably fall flat on my face! It'll just be treadmill stuff at the gym at first because the dogs won't let me run when I'm with them (they panic).
In fact I'm having a big shake up of my whole timetable generally - I thought re-arranging my exercise would be easy then I realised that I'm also working a couple of afternoon each week, plus possibly doing some of that work at home, then theres my eBay selling, then DH told me he's going to have a permanent shift change (not nights, thank goodness), I've also committed myself to do some one-to-one with three young adults with reading and writing difficulties AND, because of the birthday bike, I'm now able to get to the gym and swimming pool on my own - so I can do a decent lower body workouts there and get in some swimming for one of my cardio workouts.
Then, just when I thought I'd got it all settled in to a do-able timetable, I found out that theres a new twice a week circuit training class being started quite close to where I live. Its being funded through the organisation I'm going to be working for but the organisers are voluntary. Rumour has it that the woman who has volunteered to teach the classes is a newly retired top fitness consultant from 'darn sarf' who has retired to this area and has gotten bored with gardening. I don't much like working in groups so I might not want to do the class but I've got a LOAD of questions I would love some answers to - and they're only charging £1.50 a lesson to cover costs.
Just to make my upper body workouts a little more challenging I've decided to split them in to two parts, a) chest & shoulders on Mondays and b) back, triceps and biceps on Saturdays. I'm probably wrong about this but I'm hoping I'll be able to work the muscles a little harder if I don't do such long workouts.
Oh - and I accidentally signed up for a yoga class as well.
I've ahd a lovely day, pretty quiet. I went and had my haircut this morning. I hate having my haircut!!! But the hairdresser I went to was lovely, and now I have a nice little crop. I am astounded by the shape of my face, it's completely changed......... I've been so busy these past few months I totally let my hair go. I shall have to be a good girl and keep on top of it!
I'm all packed, even down to the flying saucers that I'm taking for my niece! LOL
Now just the Brazil v. Australia game to get through tomorrow, and I'm on my way. I am getting very excited and nervous!!! Can we keep our fingers crossed that the new Health and Fitness is out in time for my plane trip!!!
Sarah - that sounds like a fantastic varied exercise programme!
I went out for what was meant to be a 12 mile run this morning, it turned into more of an 11.6 mile run/walk, I still managed it in 2 hours which wasn't bad, but there were times when I was just walking because I didn't feel like running rather than because I actually needed a walk break. I expected to go a bit slower because I had to read my route off a map (exploring new territory on footpaths like the Dales Way and the Leeds Country Way), and I had to open and close gates, climb over stiles etc. Hopefully it's just a one off and I'll feel more up for actually running for my next long run next Sunday - that one's meant to be 14 miles. I made it up to Harewood House and the Emmerdale set which I was quite pleased with, and it was nice to run through fields rather than round housing estates!
I'm tired now, I'm going over for the rugby in Wigan at seven, I was considering a bit of a day out on the way, but I don't know if I can be bothered. I might just pop into the Trafford Centre to see if they have the top I want and leave it at that. The weather isn't that great over here anyway, warm but not particularly sunny.
I've been swimming this morning, and had roast beef for lunch, yum! I'm getting all nervous now. This time tomorrow I'll be on a plane somewhere over the middle east!
