Yes, but unless I shift some of this weight then the rest of my life is likely to be very short. Heart problems run in my family - at 50 I'm the only female in the last 3 generations of my Mum's side of the family not to have had a stroke or heart attack by this age - and its almost as bad on my father's side with nearly all of then not living beyond 60. I only really found this out when I did a family tree and noticed that everyone seems to die young.

I totally and completely agree that I have to live healthily for the rest of my life - but with a short term goal of losing a lot of weight.

The Low GI plan you follow now, that's more of a "lifestyle change" than a girly girl diet...... I think you and frus are talking the same language, just a different accent (I get that a lot!!! LOL)

On the new gym, the lighting is really soft, so no one can tell if you're red and sweaty!!! I sweat buckets!!!

I've been for a nice walk into our village, and decided to go to the library to pick up a book on weight training, but the library is now tiny and has NO NON FICTION!!! Can you believe that??????? They are building a new library which will be ready by the end of February, which February precisely that is, no one is saying. It is still a pile of rubble and mess on the footpath!

Sarah we are singing from the same hymn sheet I started out at 226, so I know where you're coming from (I think I will fill in my user CP thingy).

NO NON-FICTION I recommend Anita Bean's Strength Training book I've just bought it for mummy's birthday!

Oh poor Veggie

Yeh Frus thats what I do the first post works OK then when I post on a different thread I get that message i'll have to try 'go advanced' then

Wow you have been a yappy bunch but the main topic of conversation ( periods) does'nt affect me anymore i'm happy to say scales are showing a bit of a loss don't know why cuz i'm still eating pies and chocolate and drinking lager and I have'nt exercised at all might be just a fluke i'll see if it continues to go down next week hope so the "can't be bothered" diet sounds good to me weather is beautiful here blue skies and sun still a bit nippy but just looking out at the beautiful sky is enough to lift your mood

Kylie - did you get those running shoes sorted?

I started new Spanish class today, people seem far more committed than in my last class where there were people who didn't put any effort in and held everyone else up.

I've eaten too many treats today, it was my trainee's 30th so we had lots of cakes and nice stuff. BUT I did turn down free drinks after work because I didn't want to turn up pissed for the first week of Spanish (I usually leave that til the second week ), which I think entitled me to that extra slice of cake!

Good news, I got my t-shirt through for the Cancer Research 10k I'm doing in April. I asked for small (you have to be optimistic, and I already have an identical one in a bigger size which I knew I could wear if it didn't fit) AND IT FITS!

Not sorted yet, not gone to the big smoke!!! Still got four days left to do it!!!

Glad your Spanish class is better! You should be doing German though

I can't believe the state of our library, it used to be brilliant!!! I'm sure it will be brilliant again once it's built.......in 2010!!!

I ran a wee bit on the treadmill at the gym. the new gym is cool because they have about 20 treadmills, and one is in a quiet corner where you can't be seen. Helpful for really bad runners LOL

Just a pound lost this week. I think it was down to Jacket spuds and beans I've had practically every meal! I'm going to do like I did first week. See if I loose more next week. I'm just half a pound off my stone!

I was singled out in the class when the consultant asked if anyone was disappointed with their weight loss this week, my friends all pointed at me... My consultant asked the kinds of things i'd had... all I could really answer was Jacket Potato and beans! Once or twice, steak! She said was no good just eating that, I needed variety. I know this! But it's awkward, as the only thing work has suitable are the spuds and beans. I don't find time to cook anything before I leave for work and hate coming home and eating. Even though she said that as long as it's free food, it wouldn't really matter.

She's going to try and write up a plan for me, to try. Shift work is a pain in the bum to do a diet around. But she was thrilled to bits with my 1lb loss. Although she did say as I was walking in, the stone this week Amanda? But nope. Hanging on to that half a sodding pound! Hopefully next week i'll get that stone!

Everyone was commenting in the class and in work today, how my bum seems to be disappearing!! Funnily enough my mum said it to me on Saturday! So the weight at the moment seems to be coming off the bum and the boobs! LOL! I pray for the day it starts coming off my belly.

Consultants are annoying Sometimes they should just shut up

Cat your pies, chocolate and lager diet sounds good can I sign up to it? Or maybe I'm already on it...

Na, she's lovely... but to be singled out was a bit of a pain. I wish she had waited until afterwards, i'm not one for being looked at, I can seriously picture the room shrinking and everyone in my face!
Plus I've had the miseries for the past 2 days, blubbed like a baby yesterday in work. Ohhhhh dear. And after that 1lb loss, I nearly blubbed in class! Silly old cow I am.
God, but how close was I to having chocolate today, my friend was sat next to me in the breakout area in work, with a sodding crunchie, I could smell it... I craved it. I was good though.
BUT, I did buy the chocolate orange healthy extras bar from SW today, OMG how delicious are they! Taste like Terrys chocolate orange! I picked up what I thought was the cherry and almond ones too, but it's Mince Pie ones. Hmm, will give them a go I guess.

Hello all! Manda, just keep going - 1lb loss IS great.

YP well done with the SMALL! and the Spanish

Kykaree, get your shoes sorted missy You'll feel like a proper runner then!

Oh I had a really stupidly fun time kickboxing last night! First of all I was practising take-downs. I have bruises along the top of my foot, ankle and most of my shin - on both legs. And it hurts to walk! But I got to really give the psudo-black-belt a good kicking. He is such a knb!!!

THEN... I was sparring with a big muscley black guy *dribble* and I just fell on my arse! Just fell down, for no apparent reason! I fell, and thought "Oooh I've fallen, must get up..." But I tried to get up and I was still flying across the floor! I SWEAR I BOUNCED! Now I have a cushion.

So I'm black and blue and I'm going back for more punishment tomorrow! WOOOOHOOOOOO!

Oh and we're having a friend round for chinese tonight! So I guess the scales won't be kind tomorrow! Never mind! Then friends round for pizza on Saturday! Always on the go! At least I will know how many calories in the pizza!!!!

OOh poor 2 frus - that'll teach you to take on the big boys!

Homersmum - try not to feel too sensitive about "being picked on". After all if the rest were so perfect, why where they attending? Our consultant is quite firm and reminds us that by yo you dieting we will get nowhere (you know the 1lb off this week 1lb on that week), but those of us that stay have to be prepared to talk about our gains as well as our losses.

The only thing that is a pain is that she weighs everyone and so those of us that are staying have to wait for ages until she is finished. Knowing that not everyone stays she has to give pep talks to those who gain on the scales.

I don't mind staying as I think you get more out of your weekly £s and it can be useful and helpful.

Mind you after that my friend and I visit a Middle Eastern cafe - full of cakes! NO we don't indulge - actually although the cakes all scream EAT ME!! I reckon they look nicer than they are (although there are some I would like - such as meringues, viennese whirls, baklava etc).

Why is it that all the Arab looking ladies that go in there and eat cake are skinny?? Grrrrr.

Ooooh meringues!

I'm baking meringues this weekend - I have lots of egg whites! I'm going to make mine with Splenda though, and then EAT THEM ALL!
