  • My husband works weekends so I'm usually stuck here on my own. He only started this new shift pattern about 2 months ago and I didn't realise how miserable it would be without him ever having a weekend off!

Nevermind, if I can make it out of bed by 7am I'll go and help out at the path clearing work party being held by English Nature at the nature reserve where I walk my dogs. Some of you single girls ought to try it - I'm the only woman and the only married person - all the other volunteers are hunky single men in their 20s and 30s!
  • Hmmmmm I'll remember that, should I ever be single LOL

Col used to work every Sunday, but he did have Saturdays off. It's pretty miserable being on your own all weekend. That's one of the reasons I do so much exercise, so that I am too busy to eat!!!

Work is madness today, I am going bananas!!!!!
  • where abouts is that I live near Doncaster and I've never seen any hunky men lol.
  • Its the English Nature Site of Special Scientific Interest on Thorne and Hatfield Moors. Its a huge area where peat was excavated on a commercial basis and now they're trying to rescue it and turn it back in to the raised peat bogs that it was years and years ago. If you live near Doncaster I would imagine that you get occasional leaflets about the Moors along with your freebie local newspaper - they are always trying to persuade people to visit the Moors.

Its a beautiful area - not some much at this time of the year, but its spectacular in the spring and summer when the rhododendrons, wild roses and plants that looks like cotton wool balls on twigs are in flower. You can walk for hours over there without bumping in to another person.

The commercial excavation has basically removed the plant layer and most of the peat layer. The peat bog type plants are very slow growing so its being invaded by faster growing non peat bog plants and trees which will prevent it turning back in to a raised peat bog so they are always trying to find volunteers to help clear the invading vegetation all the time. They try and arrange volunteer workparties at the weekends. In the week it seems to just be just English Nature staff working over there (who are actually really nice and pretty hunky as well!)
  • I'm really looking forward to the BB final! I'm so sad.
  • Yep you're sad, Sarah Anne is waxing lyrical about the beautiful moors, and you go and lower the tone with your house full of saddos!!! LOL

I have boycotted big brother this year!!!!

We went to Nandos tonight, they have a new chicken and couscous salad, and it was gorgeous and on plan! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee
  • I'm furious! I can talk about hills...and stuff! I just happen to love trash (but really good) tv as well.
  • Morning! I forgot to set my alarm - so no using a chain saw for me today. Shame - chainsaws are great for getting rid of anger and frustration and I could do with that after last night! My neighbours got home at 2am and then had a massive row in the road. They have been doing this about once a month for the last 4 years so I should be used to it by now but its always a shock being woken up by someone screaming abuse!

Who won BB? (Was it the final last night?) I haven't watched any of it either.
  • I only meant to go out for one or two drinks last night, one of my former colleagues is moving to London and it was her leaving do.

Roughly a bottle of wine and some chips later I somehow got home (can't remember getting on the bus but do remember getting off it four stops early because it was making me feel ill and walking the rest of the way) and then fell backwards into the bath.

I just can't drink like I used to

I'm feeling very lazy, as I'm normally back from my Saturday run by now, but I've arranged to meet up with someone this afternoon to run to make me do it. I've bought some new running gear, so I want to get out there and wear it!

Luckily I don't appear to be hungover
  • Oh, I've just remembered more details from last night. Someone said my arms are really toned and a couple of people I've not seen since I started didn't recognise me
  • Wahey, I'm not suprised, you look really different from when I first met you.

I'm sorry Ms Veggie I was only playing!!! BB surely is just as worthy as talking about hills!!!! Please accept my humble apologies

We're going into Manchester today, and I am being fed sushi, my favourite!!! Before going to the movies, and it's definitely going to be Munich (not quite Berlin LOL) as Walk the Line hasn't started yet, and I love Eric Bana!!!

Hey that's a thought, a Spielberg marathon about YP's run.........which actress would play YP?????
  • From the photo I'm thinking Sandra Bullock.

Mind you, bet she's not running the Berlin Marathon. They'd probably have to have a running double!

Unfortunately I don't think my Hollywood comparison would be so flattering at the mo.
  • One for the gmap fans...

I've just found www.runningahead.com and it's fab! You can use it as a running log, save your routes using something very similar to gmap and track all sorts of stats. Guess what I've been playing with all morning
  • Just been out for a run, I met up with Sue from the Tuesday running group and we did 2.25 miles before she ran out of steam. We walked back to her car then I did another 2.2 miles on my own going the long way home.

it was horrible running in the park though, it's a nice sunny day so there were far too many people with prams on a fairly narrow path so it was a bit stop start the pavements on the home were far nicer

I'm not a fan of this running in the afternoon thing though, I much prefer getting it done early (although that is dependent on blood alcohol levels!).

Time for a shower then I really must go to the supermarket before I run out of stuff to eat and have to resort to takeaway.
