I used to like the treadmill far more than running outside, but once I started running further I realised just how dull the treadmill is if you do any length of time on it. I'm OK for up to 30 - 40 minutes, but even though I can easily run for an hour, I tend to give up on the treadmill because I'm bored.
The same with outside though in a way, I usually run round a lake near me that's about 1.5 miles per loop, the problem is that if I decide I'm going to do 3 loops I do 2 and decide to give up because even though it's pretty it's repetitive. So today I ran as far away from home as I could and did a big circle once rather than doing a little circle three or four times.
