I dont think it is that easily predictable to be honest. I started this at just over 11 stone and I'm 5 ft 3 ish and I was in a size 12 but right at the heavier end of it I was having to fight to get my jeans on etc. Now I'm just about 9 and a half stone and i'm 10/12 on the bottom and a 10 on top but its only been shopping this past week that I;ve dropped a clothes size and I've lost 19lbs.
My friend weighs less than me and is the same height she is about 9 stone 3 and shes still in a 12 on top and a 14 on the bottom because I carry my weight on my hips and arms and tops of the legs, but she carries hers on her stomach and her bust and is tiny everywhere else.
I have a friend who is my weight except she is 5 ft 6 and she cant get into a 10 yet.

So its mystery to me how these sizes work it really is.

I must be unlucky then - lol. I am 5'2, 10st12 and yet sometimes struggle to get into a size 14. Most of my trousers are still a size 16.

Hello,

I've been lurking around, enjoying reading this board for a while but this is my first post - hope you're all well! I recently went from 11st 1 to 9st 10 - starting off at a size 12/14 and am now a 10/12. So that was 18lbs = one dress size for me! I think its definitely more to do with your underlying shape rather than your weight (although that obviously has something to do with it)! I'm an hour glass shape with really wide hips - my hip bones actually stick out (but thankfully my chest is also a decent size and balances them out) and I don't think I'll ever stand a chance of fitting those hip bones into anything less than a size 12 no matter how little I weigh!

On the other hand I have a friend who weighs about the same as I did originally and she fits easily into a size 10/12. She's a totally different shape to me - with small hips and thighs (very unfair) and carries all her weight on her stomach and chest. So, I figure it's definitely something to do with your body shape and not just weight.

I'm quite a similar build to you Strawberry, and I find my biggest problem is that my entire body is probably a size smaller than I am but because of my hips and boobs I have to go up a size which means they hang off my waist and around my lower thighs.

Of course the biggest problem is that I've had to give away all my size 24-26's and I can't afford new clothes, especially if I plan to be out of the 20-22's by Christmas!
