Weight Loss and Clothes Sizes
Now here's a poser for you all. I know some of you are seasoned dieters and I was wondering what you all found was the average weight loss per dress size? I'm 5'11 and finding that I am dropping a dress size every 25 lbs or so and I was just wondering if this is the same for all?
Also do you find that when you get into the smaller dress sizes (10-16 per se) does the difference between sizes get smaller? Thirdly (don't all fall asleep) do you all have weights that you aim for to be a certain sized i.e. Size 16 - 170lbs etc etc..... |
Well I have lost 3 and half stone (well 4 really counting the loss before sw (I keep forgetting that  ) and have gone from size 30 to size 24 trousers and 26 tops. I think a stone is meant to be dropping one size but it all depends.
I do think certain weights equal certain sizes just from people in my family being same height (5ft 4) to me I think size 18 = 12 stone and stuff. But we all wear clothes too big for us anyway. ;) I have gone from wanting to be size 18 to 16 now though as other people I go to sw with have achieved it. |
That's quite interesting - I mean I'm taller and I've lost just less than you (forgetting the curry and vodka induced weight gain this week oops! ;) ) But you've come down about the same in size as me. I was 26 top and bottom and now I'm 22 on the bottom and probably a 21 (if possible) on the top. I'm aiming for about 12 stone which I'm taking as around a size 16/18 going by another girl in my office.
I know it all depends on genetics and build but its interesting to know... |
im 5'11 and a size 18 just now at 14st

I'm 5'2" and weigh 11 stone exactly now. I can wear a size 14 in most ranges but still 16 in others. I was told at Weight Watchers (when I used to go) that 7lb was a dress size but I don't think that is true. I would like to go to a size 10 ideally (before kids I was one of those sickeningly thin people that I now hate - lol and would wear size 8 and they were still big on me). I would settle for a size 12 though.

Heya I've lost 17lb from 11st7 to 10st4 and I find it pretty hard to tell if I've dropped a dress size since shops seem to vary so much. I was on the odd 12 lots of 14s and a lot of 16s before and now I have mostly stopped having to get 16s. i think it depends on the style of the clothes and where you lose the weight from. For me its about particular items of clothing that are sitting in my wardrobe- another couple of lb will get me into my old ball outfit!!

7lb! God I wish that was right!
|
I think it all depends on the individual :dunno: we're not all the same shape are we? i'm an hourglass and lose weight all over so 10lbs loss is about a dress size for me.

Whenever I've lost weight before I've found that to drop a size I have to lose around a stone. It's hard to say though because I think when I was bigger I wasn't wearing as big a size as I actually needed because I was trying to kid myself probably.
At the moment, I'm 5'7", 13 stone 2.5, hourglass shape and 14-16 UK size. Ideally I'd love to be a 12 but we all have our little dreams don't we? :o) |
My sister has gone from size 16/14 - 12 (10?) last 3 months. See I have to live with thin people

Do you know what I think would be soooo handy? If there was a website that you could put your height, weight, build and "problem" areas into and it would computer generate a pic of what you would look like as a Size 10 or whatever. It would give you such a boost. I would love to know what my shape will be when I reach my target weight because the last time I was there I was a horribly healthy 15 year old.

I think if you go into the Lane Bryant clothes site, you can do a model based on yourself. They sell large womens clothes, so it shows what you'd look like in their styles, a bit like dressing the paper dolls from way back when. But I know you can put your weight in and your sort of hair style and face shape, I did it ages ago and was horrified as to what I really looked like at my fattest weight. Haven't been there for a while, I'll see if I can find it again if you like :)
