Exersize 2003 - part 2

The old thread was miles long and made for mundane reading so I started a new one. :cb:

I have made a new exercise plan, :) half and hour a day for the next week, nothing strenous, just enough to get me moving and shifting some of this bulk. Includes surprisingly my bike, walking and some gentle aerobics, once Ray back to working normal shifts I might even escape for a swim.

Last night I cycled 1 mile to the local co-op and then cycled the mile back with the additional weight of a rucksack full food on my back.

This morning I got up and walked 2.5 miles in the sunshine. :)

:dizzy: :dizzy: Feel amazing :dizzy: :dizzy:

Amanda Panda 08-16-2003 05:14 PM

Good on you Carol - I bet all that exercise will really boost your weight loss.

I am only on my second week of dieting and haven't really incorporated exercise into my plan yet. I did manage to do 25 minutes on my exercise bike once last week and I'll try to do a few more sessions this week. I'm so overweight at the moment that any exercise I take is going to benefit me!:strong:

I've got a full years gym membership but what with this hot weather I've not been able to face going. The silly thing is that I put off going all the time, but after I've been I feel great!:cb: :cb: :cb:

I think I'm just not used to taking any exercise at the moment and I need to establish a regular routine. But like I say, any exercise at the moment is good!

Here's to a good week!:hat:

Amanda xx

Smiling Sal 08-17-2003 04:26 AM

I would like to go to the gym, but with a husband that works shifts and the boys to run after it's hard to find the time.

The local gym is too expensive for me, but the council sport centres run evening sessions in the weights room at the local sports centre up until 9 you can go in and use the equipment and they have staff in there advise you. But not much use if Ray isn't in until 8:30, would just get changed and then it would be time to come back out.

Would love to swim more too, but am stuck in the same time warp. Ray works most weekends so although I can take the boys swimming with me, it is more of a splash around than the work out I want and need.

Enough moaning, aerobics today and some serious tidying up.

Yo-Yo Dee 08-23-2003 07:58 AM

My exercise regime consisted of walking most of the week (mostly between pubs but there you go ;)

Tomorrow I'm booked for a full gym session with a friend of mine who's also a yo-yo dieter and like me enjoys a drink  but she's now at goal and looks fantastic and is sooo inspiring to be around (she always has been tho') so I've taken the plunge now and not left it as I normally do until a good week after I've returned from holiday!

The article on the front of 3 fat chicks re exercise is very encouraging to anyone who thinks they haven't done any "real" exercise.

See you later

Dee

Smiling Sal 08-24-2003 03:58 PM

Walked around a bit today, nothing to strenous but we strolled for about 2 miles - better than nothing

Smiling Sal 08-26-2003 08:48 AM

Just walked a mile - not far but enough :)

Amanda Panda 08-26-2003 01:36 PM

STOP PRESS!

I went to the gym today!

I've been struggling to get down there for weeks and today I finally stopped listening to all my excuses and went. And I feel great!

I did 20 mins on the bike, 20 minutes on the treadmill, all the weights and 20 situps. I really enjoyed myself and definately felt those endorphins flowing!:cb: :cb: :cb:

I feel good because of the energy it gave me, but also because I normally feel guilty for not going, so today there is no guilt because I got my butt into gear and went!

I'm going to go again later in the week.

Amandaxx:angel:

Yo-Yo Dee 08-27-2003 01:47 PM

:bravo: Well Done Amanda - keep it going

I've been today as I've not been as good as I intended this week so I decided to change my routine, here it is:

22 minutes xskier level 3 = 301 calories
27 minutes fat burner level on treadmill = 150 calories
? minutes (forgot to look but nearly 10 minutes) cycling = 50 calories (yeah 10 lousy minutes for 50 cals!!!!!!)
few weights and then took the dog out for 45 minutes :drill:

So today's been pretty active also stuck rigid to the old eating plan  weigh in tomorrow!

Hubby's cracked a rib (falling over aforementioned dog...) so he's out of the gym but I've been asking around and apparently he's ok to do the recumbent cycle so we're going tomorrow!!

Hope all are well

Dee

Amanda Panda 08-27-2003 04:43 PM

:yikes: Ouch! I ache today.......think I overdid it a bit at the gym yesterday. Having a rest day today, but definately going to the gym on Friday as I've got an appointment to have a training programme set.

Yo Yo Dee: Good luck with the weigh in:crossed: I never worry too much about the calorie count on gym machines because they are all set to assume an average weight of the user. If you are alot heavier than 'average' then you will be burning more calories than it says because of your extra weight. The only accurate ones are where you programme your actual weight in. Does that make sense?

Keep on moving everyone:cb: :cb: :cb:

Amanda xx

Yo-Yo Dee 08-27-2003 05:07 PM

Hiya Amanda hot bath with loads of chamomile and basil for those aching bones.

Oh I never used to either but we've got all this new high techy stuff in (I'm finally getting something back from the local authorities they've spent an absolute fortune) and it's all programmed to your individual weight - frightening really :fr::eek:

I got into a dress today (meaning I zipped it up!) that I haven't worn for over 2 years..... it's going it's really going

Nighty night

:D Way-to-go!!!Well done on getting into that dress. I hope it was one of your favourites the first time round.
Sympathies to hubby.... was the dog alright?
Keep going everyone, keep it up and the markets will crash 'cos we'll all be borrowing too much on the credit cards to fit out our new wardrobes! :^: ;)

Amanda Panda 08-28-2003 05:19 PM

:bravo: Well done yo-yo dee on fitting into your dress! That must feel great. How much weight have you lost?

The machines where you can programme your weight in sound very flashy, and must cost a bit, my council can't even afford to grit the roads when it snows!( no joke!)

I feel alot better today, and did 30 minutes on the exercise bike at home. I've got an appointment at the gym tomorrow so all in all it's not been a bad week exercise wise - considering I'm just getting started.

We'll get there:dancer: :flow2: :dancer:

Amanda xx

Yo-Yo Dee 08-29-2003 08:33 AM

Good girl Amanda - I bet you're too young to remember the Nautilus machinery... they were absolute monsters!!!! it sort of was you're own personal trainer but you couldn't argue with it!!!! drove me mad

Anyway seeing as it's my last weekend b4 I start back at work I'm going to try and sort out my house (bet something distracts me) into some semblance of order

keep it up

Dee

Tulip-Fairy 08-29-2003 12:28 PM

You exercise Queens you!!!!:cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp:

Your all going great guns.......what's your secret??

I am managing to do a 10 minute exercise routine first thing in the morning and have done it all week, :cb: :cb: and have walked or used the stairs wherever i can...but don't you find the more you exercise the more hungry you feel?? I do! :?:

I used to go to aqua aerobics a while back but stopped going [can't remember the excuse i used!! lol] But as soon as the kids are back to school i'm going to start going again!!

Here's to continued exercising!!! :hat:

Smiling Sal 08-29-2003 12:57 PM

Walked the mile to Stirling again at lunchtime today, it's uphill on the way back does that burn more calories, sure it does.

Yo-Yo Dee 08-29-2003 05:04 PM

Certainly does also cardio workout too.... Well Done Carol

How's your cycling going?

Didn't I say I'd get distracted well I did! Ah well the road to ****'s paved with good intentions!!! :)

I'm hoping to get the gym tomorrow.

Thank you Tulip Fairy... I used to find that I got hungry then it stopped I suppose it was due to the amount of water I was drinking but I'm not sure. I'm one of those people who can't eat before exercising.

Walked the dog today (as usual) but decided as it was quite cool to go up on the low hills that surround the town which was good for both of us.

Keep well all

Dee

Tulip-Fairy 08-30-2003 05:37 PM

Well i did my 10 mins workout this morning then after dinner i went for a bike ride for an HOUR!!! It felt so good, but i bet i'll be aching in the morning!!!

Smiling Sal 08-31-2003 05:32 AM

Am jealous Tulip Fairy, I want to go out on my bike, but the boys aren't up for it and Ray is working. Will hopefully manage a walk later on

Tulip-Fairy 08-31-2003 04:18 PM

I bet your not jealous of my "saddle sore bottom" Carol :( it's sooo bad that i could only do 10 mins tops this afternoon!!!

It has been a while since i used it [the bike not my bottom!! - lol];) I need to buy a big soft comfy saddle for my bike, i feel like i've been on a horse for a week :dz:

Yo-Yo Dee 09-01-2003 01:23 PM

OUCH! one of the reasons I haven't been on my bike is because it needs a good old fashioned wide saddle for my wide bottom! Well done.

Been the gym today went yesterday but I was too hungover (tsk I know!) I was nearly sick- how embarrassing would that have been :o

So it's a new month and a new challenge for me to not drink any alcohol all month and see if it makes any difference to my weight loss also workout more. I'M BACK AT WORK TODAY AND IT HURT!!!!:rollpin: :stars: :comp: :yikes: fortunately I'm being eased back this week I'm only doing 4 hours a day - I came out dizzy :dizzy: oh to be rich and not have to go to work....

Carol walking will have to do at the moment until the boys want to go out on their bikes too. Swing those arms and walk briskly and it will feel like you've had a good workout.

Right I'm off to do some dreaded ironing... boring!!!

Dee

Tulip-Fairy 09-02-2003 02:17 AM

I feel too dizzy :dizzy: to do my morning exercises today!! I went out last night for our end of summer party and had way too much wine :hat:!! I feel like i'm gonna be sick or faint :faint: so me thinks exercise is not a good idea!!

I have got to try to cut the aclohol out, it's my greatest downfall, my diet is'nt too bad is the dreaded drink that's the problem!!!

oh my head :stars:

Smiling Sal 09-02-2003 10:26 AM

The dreaded drink is my downfall too.

I walked 1.8 miles last night and 1.3 this lunchtime. Takes me to over 3 miles, am determined to walk 10 miles before next Monday

Yo-Yo Dee 09-02-2003 03:45 PM

Fantastic :cp: and it's just as good as running!! you only need to do 7 more which is achievable before monday

Back at the gym with a vengance now I've sobered up (any one reading these threads would think we had a problem!!) It's hard when the sun's shining people invite you to a Barby the wine flows and next news it's the morning after and you feel terrible and then you can't exercise 'cos you're going to be sick or fall off the equipment - I think that's what did me Sunday and I thought right stuff that for a game I want to get as much benefit out of my cheap gym visits before I have to pay full price - hence my challenge to myself.

I'm rabbiting again :D

Keep it going we are getting :strong:

Dee

FionaH 09-02-2003 04:22 PM

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has trouble keeping away from the booze!

At least I know I don't have to join AA, just confess on here!

Carol, I've been walkin a lot this week, I've bought a new swanky CD walkman that doesnt skip when I walk, made a CD of fast songs, and off I go! I walk fast enough that I can feel the tops of my legs working.

As the weather has been ok this week, I've been walking during my lunch break at work, instead of sitting in the office stuffing my face!

I can't believe what an angel I'm being!

Amanda Panda 09-02-2003 06:12 PM

Hi folks!

I went to the gym yesterday - did 20 mins on the bike, 20 mins on the treadmill and 5 mins on the rower - I find the rower soooo hard, 5 minutes is all I can do at the moment! Also did weights and about 80 situps (with an ab-cradle) and certainly felt my stomach muscles working for the first time in a long while!.

Today I went shopping and walked around for about 2 hours - better than nothing!

Keep on moving people

Amanda xx

Tulip-Fairy 09-03-2003 10:57 AM

Well it took me all day Sunday to recover from Saturday  will i never learn?? [probs not!! :D ]

Due to hangover situation i had to have an emergency take away burger meal and large fizzy pop to soak up the rest of the alcohol in my blood stream - it was a near death situation i can tell you:s:

But to make amends i got up this morning and did my excercise from yesterday and the ones for today, so i'm back on track now....does that count??:?: I do hope so!

Bad news is though that i've put on a pound!!!! which is to be expected as the burger was at least half of that!!! :D :D :D

and on to tomorrow..............!

Smiling Sal 09-03-2003 03:15 PM

Don't get disheartened Tulip, one dodgy weekend doesn't break a healthly lifestyle and I should know. I just love to party.

Walked 1.5 miles today, in a strop. So was walking very fast and very angrily with the andrealin (sp?) pumping. nearly half way to my 10 mile goal

Smiling Sal 09-07-2003 10:28 AM

Have managed 8 miles of my 10 miles challenge - much better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Next week I will get closer to that magic ten miles.

Took the boys swimming today, usually means I don't get a swim more of a splash around, today was different though. We went up the deep end so they could jump and dive in and I tread water to make sure they are OK, steve is only 5, but a better swimming than me. Then they wanted to play on the flumes, so I let them but I stayed and swam in the pool, did 20 lengths of the 25m pool. They were really impressed when they came back and I got some unexpected exercise.

Have an exercise plan for next week, sounds scary, I am going to swim once for 40 minutes, walk at least twice for 20 minutes and do 30 minutes of aerobics twice as well.

Not sure what I am going to do when, but the swimming will probably be on Friday evening and the aerobics and walking will mean a few early mornings, but where there is a will there is a way.

I need to increase my metabolism to get this weight shifting, it's worled before and it will work this time.

Tulip-Fairy 09-07-2003 05:58 PM

Well done carol, you seem really motivated.. I wish i could keep my motivation going. My daughter was ill last week and i got hardly any exercise done and ate a lot more than i should have done, i'm feeling fat, flat and flagging at the moment!!!

I am going to do my 10mins workout in the morning with an extra 2 lots to make up for what i missed at the weekend then i intend to walk or cycle for 20 mins every day next week!
Fingers crossed i stick to it!

Yo-Yo Dee 09-08-2003 08:00 AM

:cp: Well done Carol on your level of activity!! Never mind TF you can't be supermum and do everything at once.... At least you're still motivated.

I didn't achieve my challenge this month (i.e. no alcohol this month) but I did get to the gym 5 times last week. I'm going again tonight and starting again on my challenge. :drill: :rollpin:

Dee

Smiling Sal 09-08-2003 12:46 PM

Haven't done any 'serious' exercise today, have done a lot of house work, so haven't sat on my butt all day

Tulip-Fairy 09-08-2003 05:04 PM

I haven't done any either...but i did sit on my butt all day, my work has been mostly pc based today!!

Better make more of an effort tomorrow...I slept in this morning so i will have to set the alarm a bit earlier tomorrow!!

Yo-Yo Dee 09-09-2003 03:11 PM

:drill: got my serious exercise head on at the moment - been again tonight... I will get into the 12 stone range! :drill:

I was reading on another forum that if you exercise in the morning before you eat anything apparently it contributes to burning off 30% more fat... I shall give it go in a couple of weeks :D

Right off for a shower - sorry about the smell girls!!!

I've read that too yo-yo! It's supposed to be the best time to exercise as your refreshed from sleep and gives your system a good old kick start, especially when you follow it with (a shower!!) a good breakfast. Suppose to set you up for the day!! I have been doing it like ths for 3 weeks now (bar the odd abstinance!!) and it's working!

Have done some housework today that worked me up into a sweat, i plan to walk for 20 mins today also! :crossed:

Yo-Yo Dee 09-10-2003 10:59 AM

:high: way to go Tulip Fairy!!!! Excellent start to the day I have postponed my start as I intend to walk to work  which is 4 miles we have a shower at work and I will take my breakfast with me (I usually do). I haven't started it yet as I'm still on p/t hours and I would have to catch public transport home which is iffy at the best of times  so I'm driving at the moment w/c 21 I think that's when I've geared myself up for it!

Just walked the dog on our 5 mile trek we usually do that one a couple of times a week - it's turned into a lovely afternoon here.

Gym again tonight :drill:

Oh boy am I tired

What a brilliant tip :) I am going to try that too.

Well I have just come back from a spinning session at the gym. It is my first in a couple of years so I am already aching :stars:
It feels good though. Not sure I'll feel like that in the morning.

I am planning an hour long walk in the morning and another tomorrow evening. Complete with baby weight ;) (buggy and baby).

Well done everyone :)

Tulip-Fairy 09-11-2003 02:49 PM

spinning?????

I just had to ask....what is spinning?? Obviously something to do with exercise & the gym but what??????

I did my 20 mins walk yesterday but you put me to shame Yo-Yo Dee...4 MILES!!! that's brilliant same with you Missy_moomoo an hour is great too!

I am really pushed for time at the moment, although it should ease off in a week or two, so will be able to do a little bit more then!:^:

Yo-Yo Dee 09-11-2003 03:43 PM

:faint: spinning missy moo moo well done - it's something I can't do because of my knees.... TF it's exercising on a bike very cardio good fun if you can do it.

Gym again today - missed yesterday even tho' I took the dog his long walk I missed going the gym. I'm now into my next phase up the tempo a bit :drill:

Dee

Smiling Sal 09-12-2003 06:40 AM

You lot are fit !!!!

Ok here's what I've doen this week

Tues morning - 30 minutes areobics vid
lunchtime - 1.5 mile walk

Wed morning - 2 mile walk
lunchtime - 1 mile stroll
evening - swim with Sean, did serious 10 lengths

Thursday - ached like ****, stayed in bed in the morning
lucnhtime - walked 1.5 miles

Today I am going to walk into Stirling at lunchtime and am swimming tonight.

Have heard about the exercise in the morning thing before, it does work. This morning on the TV one of the weight lsos tips was 15 minutes of making love in the morning is better than 30 minutes work out in the afternoon

Yo-Yo Dee 09-12-2003 09:51 AM

I think I'll pass on the last tip  :D
