Oh Melissa I feel for you, I know just what you mean. We are having a surprise 75th birthday for my mum on 26th October and there are always 'those' conversations when we have a get together.
I have just realised I won't be able to go to WW for the next 2 weeks as I will be in yorkshire both weekends. My sister is coming home from canada on Friday for a surprise visit, I am going to have to be strong, I had a bad day yesterday choc, wine you name it. Does you good every so often though!!

Soraya :) , good to see you here, hope all is going well with you and things are starting to look up!!

 hello gals...melissa, I know what you mean about snide remarks..father ALWAYS does it to me..."you're fatter than ever..." is very popular and so is "are you sure you don't want that potato, desert etc.,..are you ill ?".:nono: it just does not do.I try and work on a cutting reply but never seem to find one!
 never mind m' dear...I'll be thinking of you and everyone else during the week.

Ta Ta love from me.:grouphug:

I have managed to stay just under the 13st mark, but I guess I have been lucky so far!!
Soraya

Delaney I dont know how you cope if anyone said that to me I'd cry or hit them I'm such a wimp.

Topmonkey 10-13-2002 02:25 PM

Thanks for the welcome :)
Still way off track Im afraid - gave in to a bag of those posh crisps earlier this afternoon :o
Delaney, dont worry about your relatives, you go right ahead and enjoy yourself, you know you have done really well this year
love, Soraya xxx
PS, Veggie, thanks for telling me about Ali's website - Ali, you must feel really proud of yourself, well done :)

veggie 10-14-2002 01:30 PM

I'm lucky (?) as those posh crisps (sensations?) are not veggie so I can't have them ;)

Topmonkey 10-14-2002 05:17 PM

LOL, maybe I shouldnt say this Veggie but there was an article on Watchdog once about crisp flavours. Apparently, the 'meat' and 'chicken' flavours are actually artificial flavours, and its ok for vegetarians to eat them, but the other ones, like cheese & onion have actually got meat extracts in them!!!

veggie 10-14-2002 07:07 PM

I know thats why I can not eat walkers cheese and onion :( but can eat m&s beef.

Delaney 10-15-2002 03:54 AM

eh???

Delaney 10-15-2002 04:11 AM

I love crisps - I just tend not to have them in the house anymore as Dave and I would think nothing of polishing off several bags in one sitting! I have tried those Walkers Lites which are quite nice but I love M&S sea salt and thyme ones Mmmmmm

Thanks for all your support girls - my Grandad's party was ok - only 1 person said 'should you be eating that?' Although I did feel self conscious eating in front of everyone so I kept myself busy filling everyone's glasses, and making sure all the kids had a plate full and when everyone had left the table I had mine.

I was just sitting watching 'Blues Clues' with Sprog #2 and planning today's food when I realised I've actually not had as good a week as I perhaps thought I had... On Thursday Dave bought pizza home with him, Saturday MIL's big dinner and then last night I made a big family dinner - joint of beef, mash, the works - it was delicious but I ate too much - I'm alright when I have a low fat ready meal but if I actually have to dish the dinner up I just pig out!! REALLY mad with myself - I have to be very good today as it's weigh in tomorrow.

Yesterday I went up to Fosse Park (out of town shopping complex) I took loads of clothes into the changing room all a size 20 (bearing in mind I was a 28) tried them all on and enjoyed them fitting and then took them all off and put them all back - that's the 2nd week running I've done that - it really is a fun way of realising how much you've lost - sometimes getting on the scales my WW woman can say 'half a pound off my dear' and I'm gutted but in reality it's all adding up isn't it?

Going to see Sprog #1 playing in a netball match later and the weather is filthy - better get my sexy anorak out - YUK...

teel 10-15-2002 06:16 AM

Don't forget your wellies,Melissa!
I like your plan of trying clothes on....and WELL DONE for the brilliant weight loss.

What on earth is all this about veggies not being able to eat c & o crisps but the beef flavour ones are fine!
We just haven't got a clue what we are eating these days....

Smiling Sal 10-15-2002 08:29 AM

Hello I'm back from sunny (who am I kidding) Ayr. The weather wasn't too bad it only rained for 2 days out of the 4, so I think that classes it as a good weekend weather wise.

Food and booze - well that is another story, the full horror story goes as follows.

Sausage sandwich, 4 bottles of blossom hill wine, half a large bottle of baileys, Harry Ramsden sausage and chips, large piece of millionairres shortbread, wimpy burger of somekind and chips, salmon and cream cheese bagette, fish supper, hotdog, endless crisps and snack size mint aeros and penguins ............... I will have gained this week, have eaten enough over the weekend to last me an entire week. But that is what holidays are all about and now I move on,. The no points soup was a big hit, but I still matched what Ray ate, I should know by now I can't do that.

Today is a new day. Didn't get to WW as I got a lie in this morning and was still in bed when it was on - I know I am a lazy tyke. Need to go find another class to get weighed in so I know the full extent of the damage I have done .....

Peacock 10-15-2002 10:16 AM

Re the crisps- The "chicken" ones are veggie too (in Walkers anyway)

Topmonkey 10-15-2002 01:01 PM

Hi everyone
Glad the party went ok Delaney and thats a brilliant weight loss :) I think that clothes sizes are a much better indication than scales. I love trying on clothes too, very therapeutic, havent done it for a while though.
Carol, sounds like you had a good time in Ayr, love your attitude.
As for me, Im still struggling. I have to buy all this fattening food for dh, to get his weight up, and end up nibbling myself.

Delaney 10-16-2002 04:35 AM

Hi Topmonkey - I feel sorry for you having to have all that scrummy food in for DH. My DH has been eating the same food as me for about 8 weeks now (it was too much trouble making food for the kids, food for him and then me) he's lost 1 stone 1lb in that time whilst I've lost about 8lbs!!

Carol - just reading what you ate made my mouth water...

Off to the gym now as its weigh in tonight - aaarrrggggghhhhhh!!
