I've escaped up here so I can't eat anymore of the kids tea...

Chin up TQ - remember yo've done so well and it does get harder the more you lose.

Chris - congratulation on the compliment from your work colleague - it's all worth it when someone notices isn't it?

Carol - well done for not drinking at the wedding - we had friends over for a curry on Sat night and instead of take-away I nipped up to M&S and got some low fat ones (they were delicious) BUT after 3 diet cokes (and several burps later - euch! sorry - too much info there) I was 'talked' into having a small glass of wine which turned into 4 and then I had vodka and coke....

I've had a good day today BUT I have eaten my dinner at 5.30 (with the kids) and I know that tonight in front of the telly the greedy demons are going to be nagging me... HELP!!

tupperware queen 10-07-2002 01:04 PM

Them greedy demons had better stay well away Melissa or they will have me to answer to, I am battling with the GD's and they are not going to win!!  :s: :s:

BritinNJ 10-07-2002 03:53 PM

Fight those GD's off with raw veggies or free soup girls :)

Smiling Sal 10-07-2002 04:48 PM

Was so busy polishing my halo there that I clicked on next thread instead of post reply

Hope those GD stayed away, nothing worse than the munchies. I think it's when you've ran out of points or calories and you know you shouldn't have anything else that your mind goes into to overtime and you just want to eat and eat and eat.

I have been an angel - I have to say it no one else will. I have only had 3 alcoholic drinks all week - never in a long time have I drunk so little booze. I know I still have a long way to go but at the moment the way I feel is amazing. Last Wed I have a can of cider and then on Friday I had 2 large glasses of wine, but that has been all. The wedding was easy because I was driving, don't think I would have been so good if I had been at home with friends delaney - these are the breaks.

I am going away next week to Ayr and will no doubt end up drinking everynight so I need to abstain until then, all for the sake of my waist line. One friend asked why worry about your waist line, to which I replied I would quite like one to worry about. Not a lot she could say to that.

Had an indian last night, we left it too late to cook a meal. I had tandori chicken with a medium sauce. I only ate half the rice and a small dollop of the sauce and again couldn't stop feeling so proud of myself. They do say that pride comes before a fall so I'll need to watch where I put my feet.

Managed to go for a 4 mile (approx) walk yesterday afternoon and out again at lunchtime today. I am looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow, I will not let myself be disappointed with what the scales say. Because I know I have broken new ground this week, drinking, walking and eating wise.

Shame I can't do micracles on the house work front, but then Rome wasn't built in a day ....

Delaney 10-08-2002 03:41 AM

Wow - Carol - keep up the good work. Weigh in for me tomorrow too and I'm looking forward to it also (what did you say about pride before a fall?)

It's my Grandfathter's 80th birthday party on Sunday and I'm going to see some aunt's, cousins etc that I haven't seen for about 5 years. My parent's are throwing the party and they've got the caterers in - so I know the foods going to be great and I just know I'm going to lapse in a major way...

Smiling Sal 10-08-2002 03:35 PM

I'm going to have problems this weekend too, Long weekend in a caravan at the old butlins site in Ayr. Will be good fun but will be difficult to be almost healthy and eat well. I am going to make up some zero points soup on Thursday before we go so I can have that at lunchtime or one evening if I have a big lunch. My lot will want to eat out of the chipshop every night we are away and usually I do too, only this time will be different. Tescos usually have some ready made salads, ham or prawns or the type, which I usually grudge paying the money for, but this time I am going to splash out and take one with me. There is already a WW meal in my freezer so I am making sensible plans, I just gotta stick to them.

Have had a good day. Am allowed to eat 24 points for the next week, so I'll need to get back to my planning. One thing I have learnt over this last week is that my family loves bagels. I brought a pack and froze them and managed to get one out of them I think, the rest dissappeared into the toaster and then got covered in my laughing cow spreader cheese when I wsan't looking

Need to go work out what I can eat tomorrow and try and plan the rest of the week loosely. I will be drinking at the weekend which will throw my dry spell. But how often do we go on holiday ????

Need to get some exercise done this week as well. I am enjoying my walking and I will be swimming at the weekend but I would like to try and fit something else in, I'm just not sure what.

Am a tired teddy again tonight, haven't shaken off my really late night yet. But I need to go write the invitations to Steves birthday party. A mothers work is never done.

BritinNJ 10-08-2002 04:57 PM

How many points is a bagel for you over there? We have them at four here...so they don't get eaten by many WW members. However, crumpets, yes...crumpets...of the British variety, are only one point :) And we can get them here so I am a happy bunny about that one.
Carol, you sound as if you have everything planned for your holiday, you'll do good, I just know it, and if you do have a few chips, that's ok too. Have a great break.

Delaney 10-08-2002 06:12 PM

I'm not keen on bagels, they always seem dry to me, but I eat crumpets by the skip-load!!

Carol - do you save points up for the weekend? I've never done that but have saved 1 point a day this week so I can eat more or less what I like on Sunday (Grandad's party) not sure if that's going to work though????

I'm going to bed now and I'm absolutely starving...

BritinNJ 10-08-2002 09:36 PM

Melissa, I save points, we are told we can save five a day, so by the end of week it makes for eating something scrummy like cheesecakes, ice cream sundaes, or booze.....mind you, they also say that if you don't use them, the weight drops off faster, but I've yet to test that theory as I do like a little treat every now and then. I'm not actually having a very healthy day food wise today, but I don't think I've gone over my points. I have a very sore gum and nose from having a root canal done last week. I'm popping pain pills like mad but am trying to keep to soft foods for eating...and they're not as low fat as usual.
Ok, going now, to watch Changing rooms before bed....it's chilly here tonight, proper Autum weather :) I love it. N-night.

teel 10-09-2002 07:30 AM

Hello to all...Iam Teel from Suffolk in England  I have just found this site and I think it is fantastic!I love the thought of e-mail support and there seems to be heaps of information here too. I am 38,single no children but a Westie of 5years called Holly.
I have struggled with being fat it seems all of my life...but in June 2001 I found I HAD to do some serious work on the overload when I was diagnosed with heart failure due to viral cardio myopathy. My heart is functioning at 26% it's optimum capacity and the optimum treatment is a transplant.
I need to lose at least 21lbs before I am accepted on the plan if and when necessary...and although it took me six months to lose 14lbs, I seem to have plateaud and I have not lost an ounce all year....HELP!
Iam also an insulin dependant diabetic, just to complicate matters.
So, if there is any one out there with some great ideas, support or just a great shove to get me started again, I would love to know...love and peace from Teel xx:grouphug:

Delaney 10-09-2002 11:33 AM

Welcome Teel - you've come to the right place, I've been here for well over a year (only lost 24lbs mind you) but you'll get some motivation and support and usually the odd laugh as well...

Chris - it's turned autumnal here too, bit too cold for my liking. I'm sorry to hear you're still suffering from your root canal work. The last thing you should worry about is your weight when you can only eat soft foods and are in pain!

WW for me tonight and for the first time I'm dreading it - my scales say I've lost 2lb (always use those for the weekly weigh in on here) but her's always weigh different and for some reason I'm really dreading it!

Never mind, salsa class tonight - YIPPEE :cb: :dancer: I look more like the 1st one!!!

teel 10-09-2002 12:20 PM

Hello Melissa
.....salsa???...isn't that some sort of dip for crudites...?....ooops sorry, very bad joke, but my excuse is I have been to see my "therapist" today having spent 18weeks in a private psychiatric unit this year, and I need a lol....love from Teel

Smiling Sal 10-09-2002 01:25 PM

hi Teel, we all like a laugh here

Is too much like autumn up here too, have had to put the heating on and it's nearly dark and it's only 6:30.

I'm trying to save 3 points a day for my weekend away. I'm not sure what the offical line is on saving points for the weekend I know you can do it, think it is 4 points you can save everyday.

Bagels come in at 3 points and toasted with spreader cheese and cucumber my lot think they are delicious

Have got a bit of a sore throat. I need to take the boys swimming tonight. The exercise will probably make me feel better, but yet again I will be avoiding the chips afterwards. Will be harder tonight as Ray is going to, no chance of the boys being naughty and me refusing to buy them chips as a punishment if Ray is there. Will have a sandwich, salad and soup waiting for when I get home, only way to get round it. if I don't prepare the food before I go I will just buy chips, but if I prepare it I won't want to waste it.

That's my theory anyway

tupperware queen 10-09-2002 01:48 PM

Very chilly here in Enfield bbbbbrrrrrrrrrrr!! going to make some zero point soup to ward off the chills!!! Wrap up warm ladies !!

Delaney 10-09-2002 05:36 PM

Hi all - well as I said I was dreading WW tonight and her scales said only half pound loss - I realise it is a loss but not big enough for my liking. She asked me about how many points I've been having and when I said 24 she pointed out that I was to be on 26 and why wasn't I eating the full amount? When I said it was because I wanted speedier weight loss I got a right old stare and told to go away this week, fill in the tracker and do not have less than 26! She seems to think I've just not eaten enough, (if truth be told I've gone to bed REALLY hungry about 4 nights this week) therefore, my body has gone into 'starvation mode' (ha ha) and is storing the food I'm actually eating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure about that one but will eat 26 this week and see what happens.

My Mum's taking me shopping tomorrow to treat me to new clothes as mine are falling off me and I refuse to buy any more until I'm a size 18!! To be honest I think she just doesn't want me to embarrass her at my Grandfather's 80th on Sunday - if I let her chose my clothes though it could be a bit scary!!! Wish me luck...
