Some people are SO thoughtless! I am sure that you could have found something to comment about in their appearance but chose to be a nice person and didn't.... so why do people always seem to think they can make comments about our weight.

(Sore point - sorry for rant!)

Incidentally I am babysitting a 5 year old for the woman next door for a few days (rash of unknown origin stops child from attending school) - any way this child is a bit on the plain side and a bit on the big side and cries a huge amount (pretend crying) AND she has the personality of a gorilla with toothache - but her mother doesn't help - she actually told me in front of the gorilla that she (the gorilla) is a 'disgustingly fat' and that a few days with me on my diet will do her good!!!! What a horrible thing to say in front of her.

I am practicing my new psychology training on this child and it is NOT working! Maybe it only works with traumatised children.

Well done Tracy

TQ, the person probably thought they were saying the right thing, some people are just so thoughtless. I have a friend who has no tact whatsoever. She recently said to another friend of ours who is a little on the large side "oh, given up dieting then?". I was very embarrassed but glad she didn't say it to me!

I know its easy to say and I don't want to sound judgemental but I really don't like to see overweight children, especially young children anyway. Surely the parents can exercise some (not complete I know) control over what their children eat? There is a girl down the road from me who is only 13 or 14 and she weighs 21 stone already. I think with a mother like that, the gorilla with the toothache is going to struggle hard to overcome a weight problem.

Well done TQ. Keep up the good work I've gained again this week, 3lbs! It must have been that 16 point tuna roll, I swear! I've actually been having a lot of trouble apart (from the tuna day), getting up to my minimum points for the day so I think that may have something to do with it too?
Anyhow, here's keeping posotive and hoping for a loss next week.
Well done to all who have or do lose this week and to all of us that haven't, chin up, we'll be ok and do better next week.
Chris.

Never mind Morrisons, TQ, JUST DO IT - and then stand back and admire all your hard work.

Well done on that two and three quarter pounds!!!!

Chris - you could be right that you're not eating enough. A couple of weeks ago I gained a couple of pounds even though I had stuck rigidly to 1500 cals and had done lots of exercise and I posted for some help from Stef who said I should increase my calories so that I am left with 1500 to 'live' on after I have deducted the amount I have burned off in exercise, but its so difficult to do. I increased my calories to 2000 for a few days and quickly lost the fake gain and another pound but I just felt plain strange eating so much so I reduced my calories back to 1750. I know I should be eating more right now because of the amount I exercise (usually between 400 and 700 cals a day) - but I feel such a pig if I go over 1750 cals. (All very psychological and strange this.....) If you find the answer please let me know....

Good to hear from you Chi Chi! Dunno whats happening, just make a fresh start and carry on regardless, keep up the exercise and keep a track of everything you are eating and I am sure there will be a loss next week.

Your holiday will be here soon, just aim for progress not perfection.

Hi all

Top O' the mornin to ya!!! I'm back from my trip to Dublin.

What an experience, loved it but shattered. Wasn't it kind of me to volunteer to do the whiskey tasting in the Jameson Distillery? Well, come on, somebody had to do it.!! I got a certificate, so now I'm certified!!!!!!

Guinness (vile stuff), Irish breakfasts an all....... gained 1.1/2lbs at weigh in last night. I don't think that is too bad considering.

OK have committed myself to getting rid of at least a stone by 31st May, so I have to do it now.

Watch this space

Welcome back Jano! Glad to see you love Ireland as much as me. I love Guinness, unfortunately for me, its loaded with calories

Chi Chi, perhaps you are building muscle with your trips to the gym? That weighs more than fat. How long until your holiday now?

Welcome back, Jan!

Yes.... I'm a bit partial to a pint of Guinness or Murphy's occasionally (well... its only 'occasionally' nowadays!)

Chi Chi - try writing down and working out the calories in everything that you eat for a few days.

If you are doing a lot of exercise then you need to check that AFTER you have deducted the calories you have burned off in exercise you are left with enough calories for your basal metabolic requirement (probably around 1500).
