I have been.......
............to the gym!! at last i made it, and it was worth the effort, I am shattered but will sleep with a big grin tonight.
i am enjoying my new job, it is very busy and the time flies, I am very much in the early learning stages but am going to try my best, thats all i can do isn't it!! I have just had a long soak in the bath, i am going to ache tomorrow , i just know it!! |
Swimming tonight
Not been very pleasant though, full of 'big' kids throwing footballs around etc, bah humbug!! Not fast enough for super club class swimmers in lanes so have to wade through families enjoying themselves..grrrrrrrrr.grumpy TQ
Swam for 30 minutes though so shurrup and get on with it eh lasses!! Soon be winter though and no one will want to swim then!! Come on cant only be me doing some exercise surely, tell us all about it!! |
OK as from Monday my exercise regime will be back on form. I will be back to walking every lunchtime for the 30 minues, come rain or shine
Do want to get back to my swimming, me too not fast enough for the speed lane, know exactly what you are going on about TQ. Unless I'm there with my boys, then I want all the room for a carry on. So to Monday and walking. Really want to start tomorrow, but that all depends on what time Ray gets in from work. Am going to re-organise my room tomorrow - will burn lots of cals. |
Carol - I remeber when you were walking in your lunch before and the weight was really falling off wasn't it?
Well as you probably know I joined a gym 2 weeks ago - I am going as and when I can but as Sprog #2 is ill with this awful impetigo she's not at nursery and therefore I canna get to the gym as often as I'd like. However, when I do go I do 15/20 mins on the bike to warm up, 5 mins on the rowing machine, 15/20 mins fast walking on the running machine and then 3 mins on the stepper before I fall off and stagger around... when Sprog #2 is back at nursery I'll book my induction for the weights (daren't use them yet 'til I know how to use them properly, arn't I sensible??). Then I go down to the pool and do about 20 lengths (small pool) then 20 mins in the jacuzzi falling asleep - they actually turned the lights off in the pool area the other night at 9pm as they thought everyone had gone home and there was me sitting in this jacuzzi screaming... Yesterday I signed up for aerobics at my local college every Monday morning (doesn't start until end Sept though) it was only £15 up until Christmas that's not bad is it? I only hope I won't be too bad at it - not jumped around like a crazy person for some months. Is that alright for you TQ? :D |
You will do for me Melissa, i failed on the swimming front this morning, stayed up chatting to a neighbour till the early hours, drinking..........diet coke!! Anyway i was too tired but am going to the gym tomorrow!!
|
I am about to go and start moving wardrobes and drawer units round the bedroom. Ray has promised to be in by 6pm so I will be able to walk this evening.
Is this enough exercise for today ??????? Melissa well done on the gym, I used to circuit training - many years ago with a friend - don't think I could even do one of the activities now let alone a full circuit - not sure I'd want to now. Good luck on the aerobics - I'll stick to the walking for a couple of weeks before I dust off any of the videos, a friend (same one I used to do circuits with) has my favourite Lorraine Kelly tape - that was how demotivated I got over the summer - time to go get back I think |
Any tips from anyone on how to get rid of my flabby tummy - are crunches the best thing? (I hate them, so please say no!)
|
Nicky - I know this isn't very exciting but something I was told about is to suck in your tummy ALL THE TIME - it really strengthens your muscles and people have been saying to me that I look much better for it... I told you it wasn't very exciting didn't I???
|
This is very good news - but I've been trying it and it's not as easy as it sounds. It must work on the same basis as the pelvic floor excercises they get you to do when you are pregnant, and those were difficult to start with, so I am just going to persevere. Anything to get out of doing the dreaded crunches! ;-)
|
Cruches - Is Stef still around?
I hate crunches but I do them, but someone told me recently that the ones where you raise you shoulder off the floor aren't the best type to do! Has anyone else heard this and if so, what's the alternative? Stef - help please!

:dizzy: :dizzy: NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH :dizzy: :dizzy:
I went for a walk tonight with Ray, we walked down by the river Carron along by a path I hadn't seen before, I reckon we walked about 3 miles, Ray who is usually more acurate at guestimating these things than me reckons it was nearer 3.5 miles. Who am I to quibble about 0.5 of a mile ??? We were away for about an hour and walked back quiet fast as the light was fading and the boys had stayed behind with friends and we wanted to be home before they came in when it got dark - Ray was trying to talk me into a glass of wine in the pub, but that would have undone all my good work - did I really say that ?????? Here's to doign somethign else tomorrow |
Have had a very active day, up and down those stairs several times and I went for a lovely walk in the autumn sunshine at lunchtime. I have done about 2 minutes of stretching (it's a start) and tonight I go swimming with Steven while Sean has his swimming lesson.
Is going to be challenge doing it all again tomorrow - except the swimming that is - will need to do something else instead of that. Unless someone wants to pop round and babysit while I go by myself that is !! |
Been for my walk at lunchtime. Made a pact with myself to walk to the postoffice and back. I had a letter to post but had to go further than the local postbox. Only climbed the stairs a few time, but better than none.
I am hoping to sneak away for a swim tomorrow by myself so I can have a serious workout. Just need to check Ray will be in from work at a reasonable time so I can get there and back without the boys noticing |
Managed the walk again today, in the rain, but not the swim. have explained it all over on the 'hello from one fat chick in England thread" ...............
Am going out tomorrow night so I'll need to dance my feet off for some exercise |
