Right you miserable lot of soldiers time we got our butts into gear.
Everyone will assemble on the parade ground at 6:30 tomorrow morning for a 6 mile hike before breakfast - builds an appetite you know. Then it's off for the Iron Woman routine. We'll run 26 miles, cycle 50 and then swim 6 miles in a freezing cold loch. All this before lunch. After lunch we can beautify ourselves already for a night at the pictures - no popcorn !!!!! Then home early to be ready to do it all again on Sunday. No excuses accepted. Be there or be prepared to clean the toilets with your toothbrush. Sargent Major -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D'you know they really do the Iron thingy in Aberfeldy, Only it's for men as no sensible woman would get of bed on a cold Scottish August morning and swim 6 miles in the loch. Mad. The good news is I am getting my life back to normal next week. Well Mon / Tue / Wed anyway. Ray will be working nights the end of the week so I'll be able to leave work earlier as he'll be taking the boys to school / childminsers - oh happy days. It will probably only be a temporary change as he is still not happy there & is looking for something else but I'll enjoy have my evening back while I can. So now I'll be able to get out for a couple of evenings - I'll need to get that bike out of the garage and see if it needs any work. Exercise plan here I come. |
Private sicknote here, can i have leave tomorrow as I feel too unwell to participate!!:jig: :sheep:

Dear Sargent Major, Captain Baggy-Knickers here....
Sounds like a great idea, nothing like a dip in a freezing loch! I have an hour to get there from now, so if you don't see me, carry on without me..... Note to self: Buy some new knickers Talking about excersise, last night while I was bopping about on the mini trampoline, had a funny sensation round the bum area, to realise that my knickers had fallen down!!! I think it's time to go out and buy some new ones :) Luckily my sweat pants kept my dignity, plus everyone else was in bed so didn't see me grappling around trying to retrieve them. Sarah, Pen and Lew send their regards to George, they agree with him, they don't like the trampoline either, although I've not managed to fall on either one of them yet..........but give me time  |
Well! I always knew men were a different species, but that Iron Man thing sounds positively nuts!
Swim six miles..... it takes me 45 mins to swim ONE mile.... as for RUNNING 26 miles... the most I can manage is to JOG (on the rebounder) for 40 mins which I think is equivalent to about 3.5 to 4 miles - BUT 26 MILES!!! And forget the cycling.... I can feel that saddle for hours after I've gotten off the bloomin' thing. Why do this DO this to themselves???? Chris - I'm suffering big-knicker-itis as well! I keep forgetting to buy myself some new ones. I've only got 3 pairs that really fit nowadays and they aren't particularly 'practical' ones (if you know what I mean!!) Good news.... the local authority swimming pool and gym in the next village, which has been closed for refurbishment since we moved here, is re-opening this weekend AND ITS JUST ABOUT WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE! Only problem is that, before you use the gym, you have to have an fitness assessment first - so I might check the place out by going swimming a couple of times first. (Yes, I'm a coward!) |
New pool!
Our new pool opens on Monday, its a leisure centre too, I am going to go and try out the gym too and see what the prices are like, opening times etc. Today it is open to have tours, and free sessions tomorrow afternoon. I dont know if we will get there as we are looking after my friends 2 Jack Russells for the weekend. Should get plenty of exercise this weekend then eh!!
|
I just checked the local paper and ours is doing tours this weekend as well - and hour long swims for 50p (but I expect it will be packed). I thought I might try an early morning swim (if Kevin is on early hours) if not, then we will go along for the adults hour on Thursday. Ours is £2.70 for an adult swimming ticket - which is more expensive than the one at Goole, but we won't have the petrol costs, so I suppose it works out about the same.
I still kind of like the idea of the gym - but I wish I didn't have to have the assessment... |
Sarah go for that assessment - you know it's not to be as bad as you're imagining.
We have a gym at work and if I had the time I would love to go in either early mornings or evening afterwork but as I'm always running to pick up / drop off the boys I've never have the time. But part of the reason I haven't gone is like you I can't handle the initial assessment. In my case it would have to be done in front of people I know which would have been much worse. Now I'm working in the Glasgow office - temporary at the moment - they have a gym and if it becomes a permanent arrangement then I promise I too will bite the bullet and go for the assessment. I won't know about becoming permanent in Glasgow until July. You also have the added benefit that you'll be able to go during the day when it's quiet and probably cheaper. Go fo it Sarah. Another walk in hte sunshine is requried today - I think - just need to get Ray out of bed and then I'll stride off into the wild blueyonder. |
Carol, hope you have got the sunshine cos it aimt down here, cant believe the difference in the weather from last weekend!! The sky is black and it is looking very dodgy to say the least !! Brrr freezing too!
|
We have the sunshine but believe me it is baltic out there. No rain so far so maybe I am the lucky one
|
The sun has just put in an appearance but it is looking back over Bill's mothers....(no idea what that means but my mam says it a lot!!!!!)
|
Its brilliant sunshine here right now - but with a bit of an icy wind. We are due showers though - real April weather!
I know that saying TQ, (and I'm a Londoner) except that I was taught it to be - 'Its black over Will's mothers!' I wonder who Will or Bill was??? I'm still debating with myself about that fitness assessment. I know this is all a bit daft but I think I will wait until I can jog happily on the rebounder for 45 mins (you know... the point when you DON'T collapse in a sweaty red heap when you finally stop). Maybe that will give the newly opened leisure centre a good chance to calm down - apparently its packed out this morning! |
rebounder for me today, its very heavy rain here and the paths i walk at get very slippy when wet,:o omg at falling flat on face:o
so ill bounce until im bored:lol: shouldnt take long |
been walking the dogs...
so far have exercised by walking around b&q and then onto a more energetic dog walk!! havent been to see the new leisure centre yet as we couldn't be bothered queueing to get in the car park.........there was a massive queue though. Might bob down on my own later. (Owt for a bit of peace and quiet ha h a)
|
Wow! I've just come back from my usual walk and feel like I have run a marathon! Walking with this wind was OK - but walking against it on the way back.... my thigh muscles have turned to jelly!
My walking partner has decided that walking isn't for her - I didn't think she would try it again after last week. She says she might give it a try again when she has lost a bit of weight (sounds like my thoughts about the assessment at the gym!!) I think I'll do a bit of bouncing when my thigh muscles have recovered... I am trying to keep my exercise level well above 500 cals a day at the moment (not that it seems to make much difference to my weight WHAT amount of exercise I do). How's everyone else doing today?? |
I went to look at the new leisure centre yesterday and am debating whether to go and have an induction or not, I probably will but not sure when!!
Sarah the wind nearly blew me home i am not looking forward to going back to work after lunch it is frezing out there!! You are my hero(ine)!! Bet the dog loved it though, they never seem to mind do they?? Hope you all have a great week, me included!! |
