Happy Birthday Veggie
Sarah I've been reading all your fostering posts with interest, I don't believe I could do it personally but what you have said has definitely made me think about my kids. Last night Sprog #1 wouldn't do her homework, was screeching at me everytime I asked her to do something, insisted on eating her pudding in the living room even though I said she couldn't - the lists goes on. I thought about what you'd said about sitting down and talking calmly to children in an earlier post and thought about how I was behaving too - I decided to have a talk to her about why she was screeching at me, why she didn't want to do her homework etc and we ended up hugging and doing her homework together - I know that sounds all corny but it really felt better than threatening her with her father when he comes in and ending another day on an argument, she's only 6 for gods sake.
Carol - I hope you manage to get the swimming pool allergy under control. I always worry about the chemicals in swimming pools - I used to think I loved swimming because I actually love the exercise and not getting too hot and bothered like aerobics but I really have a problem with the hygiene of the places. Sprog #1 had a dreadful rash (like pimples) under her arms which itched and then turned into hard lumps, I took her to see GP who said she had mollusculum contagiasum which he told me was a very contagious childhood problem, and although it's harmless is caught from dirty places usually swimming pools (well she has swimming lessons in a grubby but local pool). Anyway, sprog #2 has now caught them from her sister and the pair of them look all scabby and horrid - how embarrasing.
Oh just seen the time - lunchtime - yippee food mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Phoebe Tae Bo is hard work – but very worth it. Lots of kicks & punches and twisting from the hips & shifting the body weight & circling arms & lunges, etc. etc. It is energetic – the tape runs for 27 mins, but I have to keep stopping for water breaks, usually takes me about 35/40 mins to do the work out. Last year I was fitter & could do the tape no problem. I am building myself back up to it this year. I will do it, I will do it.
Just back from a lovely walk. The sun is shining today so no excuses, get there and walk off a few cals, points, etc.
What kind of cake are you having Veggie. I’m dribbling just thinking about cake – am visualising a light sponge, with squooshy cream & strawberries. Yum, yum. Yours is probably nothing like my dream, but my ‘virtual’ cake tastes lovely with my lunch – if only.
Carol

Thanks Carol, I think I will order a Tae Bo tape from Amazon, I think I better order a basic one though, not the advanced
I just worked out that if I lose 2 lbs a week I will reach my target weight the day I go on holiday in September. That was a bit of an eye opener for me, what a wonderful going on holiday present that would be. The only flaw in the plan is losing 2 lbs every week!

No....... white chocolate and cherry gateau sprinkled with almonds with sort of white chocolate and kirsch truffle stuff in the middle. Yum! My friend makes this for dessert at every dinner party I ever go to at her house and its amazing.
Has anyone else read Suzanne, Jennifer and Amy's journals? I got really upset reading them this morning, especially Suzanne's. I don't know how she can be bothered to keep this website going considering the things that have happened to her.

Yes....I've got some goodies in the kitchen which are yelling at me to eat them.... its so HARD today!
Daughter from **** has come back - no explanation - just arrived about an hour ago with a large bag of jelly babies! Its nice to think she feels she can pop home whenever she wants - it would just be nice to know how long she is staying this time.
I'm so confused!

Hi Phoebe, yes I'd love to stop falling over. Last October as I was getting in my car from a 7-11 shop, I fell down as my ankle gave out, hurt very badly and plus felt a huge fool cos there were people watching me....they probably thought I was drunk...but felt better when I went to the docs with huge swollen ankle to be told I have arthritis in it so it could happen again...oh joy. As for the fall the other night when I dove headlong into the path onto my fat knees, when I told a friend about it, I said that Penny, my dog that I had hold of on the lead, moved quickly out the way, and she was lucky cos if I had landed on her, I'd have probably killed her, and my friend was in hyserical laughter by this time imagining me explaining that to the vet. Can you imagine? I killed my dog, cos I tripped and fell on her....oh no! What a thought!

Carol - I think I might give that tae bo video a go too - sometimes I get put off by a video being over an hour long so 30 mins sounds good to me.
Veggie - it's your birthday your allowed all that scrummy food - fajitas Mmmmmm - not had them this year so far and we used to have them at least once a week
It sounds like most of us have had days today where the goodies are calling us, me too - I had to go and read a book this afternoon to stop me scoffing the kids goody jar!!
Salsa tonight - yahoo - better go and get my dancing shoes on.

Hello Everyone
My appetite seems relatively back to normal today after a day of feeling miserable and deprived and totally empty yesterday. I can't figure out what's different on days when I get the 'hungers' like that. Does anyone know why they happen??????
Veggie - sounds to me like you picked exactly the right birthday menu!! Yum!!!! Back to dieting today though???????
Chris - your falls sound agonising - isn't there ANYTHING they can do to help you?
Melissa - fostering training is teaching us that EVERY action a child (or adult) does is a form of communication, we just have to develop the ability to figure out what they are communicating.
Easier said than done but where does that leave me right now - I've got a 23 year old who isn't explaining anything, but seems to have decided to move back here, hasn't actually given up her job or college but hasn't said she is going back, and is eating like there is no tomorrow and is sleeping a huge amount! Has anyone nearer her age got any ideas?? I don't actually want to ask outright because I don't want her to think she's not welcome, but I just NEED to know what's going on (cos I'm concerned).
I have FINALLY lost the 2lb I put on overnight between Monday and Tuesday - I just hope I can lose a pound before next Monday when I weigh myself. Fish pie with a white wine sauce tonight(no sour cream - sob!!) - very low in cals - and DD has promised to join me in a Power Yoga video session, plus my walk across the Moors, so I AM being good. I think I am paying the price for having been not-so-good last week, though!

I've just been to that website (I think Veggie told us about) the "am I morbidly obsese" one, well I've gone from morbidly obese to severely obese by losing 17lbs - yahoo
Sarah I'm pleased for you that your back to "normal" today I had a "want to eat everything in sight day" yesterday - I have no idea where they come from but my tummy was rumbling all day!!
I couldn't go to salsa last night my babysitter phoned and let me down at the last minute (dh is away in Ireland AGAIN) I was feeling so down I nearly cried, how pathetic is that?? But it's the only thing I look forward to all week, away from the kids, housework etc - dh has promised to be here next week so I can go then.
Sprog #2 has just taken all her clothes off again.....

delaney cant you have practise salsa session at home with the kids?i do the disco thing with my girls but my son sits on the sofa like a typical man to be and says we are all mad,i know tracey shaw has a salsa video out but i wont buy hers on principle i think its misleading people into believing she has worked hard and exercised to be slim whereas everyone knows shes a recovering anorexic! i know that seems harsh maybe i am, but id rather watch someone that has actually worked hard to be superfit and have a video out
