Awwwwwww *cuddles* - do you get them all sitting on you together like a big doggy bundle? Group doggy hug! :goodvibes:
|
Sarah,
No, it doesn't sound daft at all. I think our K9 friends are more on the human scale that we give them credit for. When the horrible man threw a big rock at Lew, he was very brave and stood up for himself and me... he's very protective of me, so he growled but once the man walked away shouting obsenities, poor Lew was shuddering like anything. Took him a few days to perk up. And when Dave and J play fight, Lew gets all wound up and protective cos he thinks someone is going to hurt someone...I tell them to pack it in, but because they're boys, they don't bloody listen until I point out how much they're upsetting poor old Lew. Had a really lovely walk this morning...dogs are pooped. It's getting breezy out now, so I'm about to hang another line of washing out...hope someone remembers to get it in later, I'm working until half seven. I had a lovely telly night last night...repeats of all my usual shows were on so I came across Mrs. Bucket, one I've not actually seen and after that it was 'allo allo' I was wetting myself... I love the English policeman who tires to 'speak' french... and then after that it was the vicar of dibley and it was the 2000 Christmas special, one of my all time favs :) |
Heee! I love allo allo! I used to watch it all the time when I was a kiddy! Then we saw it on sky at the PIL's over Christmas!

2 frus - it is not the doggy group hug you should be questioning but what is going on in Sarah Ann's post office - obviously a 'hotbed' of passion! All those old guys reeking of pine, bringing seedlings etc etc - where will it end?!
|
Sounds like Sarah's got it pretty good to me - admirers, free carrots, doggy cuddles - who could ask for more?
|
Morning everyone.
Sarah the okra was very nice. It was deep fried and crunchy on the outside. I don't normally like okra as it's slimy but it was nice cooked like that. Chris I won't be sending any pictures of me in a swimsuit, suffice to say it's teal with a skirt and a tie on the side. Just imagine it :p 24 very good as always Jack saving the world with a few twists thrown in. |
Hello everyone
I've not posted for a couple of days. Have read all your posts and kept up with your news but as pathetic as it sounds I really havent had the strength to type. At the beginning of the week I didn't feel that well either but I'm fine now. My mother's blood pressure is sky high she went with her CPN to the GP who said his electronic machine was broken so didn't even bother to take it with the manual one or find another that worked. I bought a machine home from work and found it to be 184/119. I am taking her myself to the GP tomorrow and see what he intends doing. I am just worried that my mother will get a stroke. My father is good he went to have his check up for his Prostate Cancer he waited two hours for his appointment for the Urologist to say Patrick how are you feeling after your radiotherapy my father says fine so your man says I will see you in three months after you've had a blood test. My father says no you won't you will see me in six months. My father said to me that after travelling 10 miles to get to the hospital he has no notion of doing that every three months when he knows his GP can monitor his PSA. Thennnnnnnn he shows me a letter asking him to make yet another appointment for a colonoscopy and he says to me phone them and tell them to stick their colonoscopy up there a..... oh what a good mood he is in. Anyway I telephoned them and didn't use his words but the procedure is now cancelled. Last night two of my friends and I walked Ken. He had a bit of an accident on Friday. My friend is having an extension built anyway the builders were doing the footings she stayed in with Ken when they had finished she said can I let my dog into the garden they said no problem we will cover the footings up anyway. My friend goes to get her children from school drops them at their various activities comes home and find Ken in the footings practically setting in the cement he was up to his head almost in it and she couldn't get him out. Eventually she did but Ken will not go anywhere near them now. Poor old Ken. I have been a greedy girl all week. Its made me feel lousy fat and bloated. I have exercised twice though and walked but I can feel the extra pounds around my middle. I am going to have another fresh start tomorrow. Its scary the way you can get back into bad habits so quickly. Well I can anyway. Not much else happening really. I got very boring . Take good care my friends. Michele |
I seem to have been quiet too. I've been trying to make the most of the nice weather, I went for a walk in the park on the way home yesterday, today I walked from work to running club (3 miles) and then ran 7.5 miles with the club. Then I came home and had hot cross buns :D I was running pretty much with the boys this time, I did notice that at one point I had a group of them running just behind me, which may be a nice confidence boost. Not for my running ability, but because blokes are notorious for hanging around just behind a shapely lycra clad bottom ;)
Anyway, nearly bedtime now so this is a bit of a fly by post. Hopefully I'll have more time to catch up tomorrow. |

Well yesterday I got home and ate the house again! Actually I wasn't toooo bad but I felt out of control. I had 2 dinners! :o I had a huge bowl of veggies, 2 stuffing balls and a hot cross bun, then DH came home and I shared a cheese pizza with him, then we had ice cream  I am such a greedy muppet! Plus then I couldn't stop thinking about food... :tantrum: I'm not too worried because I think this is something I'm going to have to get used to with IE and having "normal" food in the house. Usually brain says, "Nope, no way can you eat pizza on a WEEK DAY!" But I think with IE brain goes, "Hey hey! PIZZA! Let's eat!" Meh! So I am trying to do better today. I think I will manage it. I asked DH to take the chocolate raisins to work and he said, "No you should be able to enjoy them." and he doesn't think they'll do me much harm... I guess they're a fruit serving! :lol3: So I did have a bit of a chat with DH about my mental eating last night and he still loves me  :D And I think I made progress from my usual eat the house, because I realised that I wanted to eat more, but I just didn't. Ever been doing something completely different and all the nice food just starts singing to you? It was like that! Before DH came home I was answering, but after my 2nd dinner I was reading my book and it was still singing but I just said no. :) So I guess I'd better get to the gym and go kickboxing today! Part of me is bummed about my knee. :p And part of me is just a bit blah! Anyway... I didn't mean to go on so much, but there you go! Mich - sounds horrid about the poor dog in the concrete. I wouldda had a HUGE slanging match with the builders. Ho hum, got a nice day today - gym and kickboxing. I'm using my new Givi box that goes on the back of the bike. It's HUGE! :D |

Michele -  OMG, poor you - how dreadful about the doctor not taking any notice about your Mum's BP - that is a REALLY high reading - is there any chance of changing doctors? Its so frustrating when a doctor calls you in for an appointment and you wait for ages only to have the whole thing over and done with in two seconds. I think that doctors forget that their patients are people with lives and not just something to keep them occupied for the 8 hours a day that they are at work. grrrrrr! Ooohhhhh and poor Ken - I bet he's hurting as well because concrete can burn on sensitive skins. Jen - TWO dinners!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!! Although I don't think a bowl of just veggies would contain enough calories to be classed as a dinner in its own right. I think part of a pizza with a bowl of veggies.... is an okay dinner. I'll be right glad when they stop selling hot cross buns on special offer - they are my downfall at the moment. Helen - I've got this mental picture of all these lads running behind you gazing at your rear end and then falling over a kerb or something because they aren't watching where they're going. CG - Hmmmm I might give okra a try. I was talking to DH and he says it only goes slimey when its overcooked. Chris - Aren't dogs strange?? George has always been very protective of me, if we are out walking and a male jogger runs towards me George always stands diagonally in front of me so if the jogger goes to attack me George can get him first. He also doesn't like it when DH and I have a tickly play fight - he gets all upset and one time grabbed hold of DH's (brand new) expensive top and pulled him away from me - and ripped a hole in it! DH was just about to tell him off when I said he shouldn't because George was only (as he sees it) doing his job. Jen - a doggy cuddle in this house is one dog at a time on your lap - OR one (or both) of us lies down on a rug and all three dogs curl up around us with just their heads, shoulders and front paws resting on us. I don't think I could manage all three at one time sitting on me - I'd get squished. I learned my lesson very early on not to try and give Ellie a cuddle while she's standing up, she gets so in to it that she leans on me then goes kind of floppy at the knees and we both fall over. Anyway, yesterday DH came home early and took E and F out so I could spend an hour giving George a cuddle and fuss - I groomed him and did some training - and a bit of up on hind legs dancing (his front paws in my hands) which he particularly loves. He was more himself afterwards but still seemed a bit hesitant about his walk this morning though. DH says that the carrots I was given are 'pony carrots' whatever they are(they taste okay  ) He told me that AFTER I spent ages yesterday cleaning, cooking and mashing them for freezing (for soup base or to go in mixed root mash). The kale was absolutely yum :p Peacock - Definitely a hotbed of passion. The old boys and their flirting - really makes my work shifts fly past - although the pine toilet cleaner aftershave/cologne stuff was so pungent that it made our eyes water. I saw one of my co-workers yesterday and she told me that my boss got  that they don't bring anything in for her..... Not a lot I can do about it. That woman is a pain in the :o |
Aww Georgy dancing :D
I was going to suggest carrot soup with your gifts... Either that or carrot cake :o  Yes 2 dinners, one of veg and another of pizza probably not too bad on the grand scale of things! :) |
I'm trying to avoid cake.... once I have it in the house I can't stop eating it..... I am SO weak willed.
|
You could do like Helen and freeze it. :)
|
Seriously - I am so weak willed that I'd eat it frozen so its best not to have it in the house.
Just trying to put together my menu plan for next week (so I can arrange my Sainsbury order) and I need some nice and easy ideas for lunches. Anybody?? Preferably about 250 to 300 calories - nothing that involves cooking??? :) |
I've got a Food Doctor bagel with beef, hummous and cucumber for lunch  That's my favourite. Also prosciutto, mozzarella and a fig :T another good lunch, and low-carb (if that matters :dunno: ) Stuffed pittas - chicken & salads hummous with carrots, cucmber and turkey slices :T 0% greek yoghurts with nuts & cranberries (a nice snack/pud) Oooh and I'm looking at doing home-made falafels sometime soon... I got a recipe book with them in :D |
