A new month.A new start
here is an article that talks about what we all know but never hurts to read it again

WALK FOR FITNESS

The only way to lose fat is for the body to burn more calories that
it takes in. That simple concept is the key to any weight loss
program. No miracle diet will change this principle. Eating more
carbohydrates than protein or vice versa is not the magic cure for
losing weight. You can even gain weight eating low fat foods if
you exceed the calories necessary to maintain your weight.

Regular aerobic exercise will boost your overall metabolism. Your body
will burn extra calories during the exercise and well after the
exercise is over. Boosting your metabolism is like eating less food.
Aerobic exercise should be done a minimum of 20 minutes, 3 days each
week. The faster the pace, the more calories you will burn. Keep the
pace brisk to get full benefit. Walking 20 to 40 minutes a day,
3 - 5 days each week should be your goal.

If you've haven't been exercising lately, start off walking one day
a week for 15 minutes. Gradually increase the days and duration as
you adjust to the new routine. A regular schedule of walking will
cause your body to burn substantially more calories in the long-term.

Make it Fun

Make your exercise routine interesting. Go to your favorite park, beach or
walk in the neighborhood. Make the routine easy and accessible so you won't
quit. Try walking at the same time of day. An early morning walk is a good
way to begin the day before a hectic schedule distract and steals your time.
Pick two or three places to walk so you can change the route and keep it
interesting. Try walking during your lunch break. Combining a consistent
walking routine with a good diet will make you look and feel better.

The benefits of walking:

(1) Increase metabolism
(2) Reduces body weight
(3) Easy on the joints
(4) Can be done by yourself or with others
(5) Good time to communicate with spouse while both are walking

(6) Can be done anywhere
(7) Can be done anytime (early morning, lunch time, evenings, weekends)
(8) Not stressful on the body so you enjoy it more
(9) You feel better after a fast pace walk

have a good day,Good week and fantastic Month :

Thanks Eleni! I really needed that. Nicholas just woke up for his bottle. I said I was going to check the board and go back to sleep. But now I am going to hit the tv and find one of those aerobic shows they always have one. Thanks for the encouragement. Well, I am off to a healthier me......... Bye Penny

Well weigh in last night up the 1.5 I lost last week. So I'm making a few more changes. Using the book for one.
A tops member let me borrow it last night. Going by what it has in it.
And getting ready to go for a walk.
Take care,
Thanks Eleni needed that.
ps. only one that gained this week.

Default Weigh tonight!

I know I'll probably lose because it's my first week on track. You always tend to lose big on that week. What I'm already thinking about is next week. Focus on that instead of tonight.

Wish me luck!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been here this week until now. I am doing great. I survived the weekend with all the temptations at the parties. I brought my own chef salad on sunday to my neice's baptism party and didn't touch any food there. I had junk in front of me all day. But then I left because I was hungry for dinner. So I was so proud of myself. No cake there either. Yeah for me.

Penny,

You are doing great. A nap? What is that? Wish I had time for that. Glad you decided to exercise instead of sleep. Keep up the great work. You will have a loss this week again I know it.

Wendy,

That is okay you are still doing great. I had a 3/4 lb gain last week. But I am going to lose this week. I am doing everything right and my scale is down 3 lbs. So I am happy about that. I get weighed in at the doctors today so we will see if I can add any colored stones to my candy dish this time. Last time I had to take one out. I didn't like doing that.

Amy,

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction and you are on track. Keep up the great work.

I was so excited yesterday. I bought a new pair of dress pants that I so badly needed because I didn't have any that fit they were tooooo big. I bought a size 12. I was so happy. I wanted to do that by easter but oh well at least I am there now. Right? I am going strong now and I am not going to stop. Hopefully. I know what I have to do.

Eleni,

Thanks for the article. I started walking everyday with my sister at 8am yesterday. So we will be going everyday. So I am doing that now for 30 min instead of the aerobics and I will see what happens. Something good is coming of it because my scale is down. And yes I don't care where you are on the path to good health it is always hard. That is why we get off track because we are sick of working so hard at this everyday. But keep up the great work. You are doing great and I know you will have a loss this week. Don't forget to walk.

Everyone have a great day.

I never said I was taking a nap this morning. It was 6 am and I was going to go back to bed for an hour. But Instead I tried something new. I did yoga that was on tv. It is alot harder than I thought it would be. You have to be very flexible and stable. I did ok with it but still like aerobics better. Hope everyone is doing great today! Penny

Hello Everyone!

I am doing fairly well with the eating but I might go in with a gain tomorrow. Had one day where I totally forgot about drinking my water. Couldn't believe I had done that, but I had coffee all day which is not good. Won't be able to stay for the meeting but at least I will face that 'metal monster'!

Eleni, Thanks for the walking article. That is the only thing I can do right now. Getting out is another story. Have to wait until someone is at the house, but I am trying to do it most days.

Penny, yoga, huh? Think I'll pass and do the walking and aerobics again when I can. Years ago I tried some of the yoga stretches without proper instruction and messed up my knees. Sounds like you are doing OK.

Sherri, I bet it's nice to get out and walk where you are at. Glad you are OP and sounding positive as to your goal. WOW, Congratulations on getting into those size 12's. Weigh-to-go Girl!!!!!

Amy T, great going for being on track!!!! Try to concentrate on one day at a time. Keep those goals small and realistic. A bunch of small ones add up to great successes. Keep coming here for additional support. We're a great group, if I can speak for everyone!

wrbedell, Glad you borrowed the book. It helped me a bunch when I first joined and I go back to it at times when I need to be reminded of things....especially portion sizes. Don't worry about being the only one that gained. There will probably be a week where you will be the only one that lost and everyone else gains. Those weeks feel good to the soul.

Hope everyone else has had a good Tuesday. Will report in sometime after weigh-in tomorrow. Take care....don't forget that water like I did.

Tops Hugs,
Summer
