Default RE: Whazzz up?

What's Up? That would be my weight!!! I became arrogant too quickly and did not chart my food intake this week. Add to the mix I did some birthday celebrating, and add 5 pounds. Ick. I'm determined, I"ll get right back on the plan.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Hi All,

Hal, I, too, know the feeling. Today was very good until I came home and then I just couldn't control myself and was eating everything in sight. I thank you for your prayers, and I am thinking positive that this is going to be the answer to Gene's problems.

Thanks for your posts ladies, because I needed to let someone know what I have been doing. It seems each morning I wake up thinking, "This is it, no more fooling around." And low and behold later in the same day I just seem to lose it. I bought one of those ladies' magazines "First" and in it has these ladies losing a whole lot of weight by eating what the Japanese call Shirataki noodles. Of course, you know, I managed to find them. I thought they would be in the dry spaghetti aisle, well, I was wrong, they were located in the refrigeration section. The lady told me we Americans do not like the smell of these noodles and suggested I first of all place them in cold water and then use a colendar and after that boil them for a few minutes in water and again drain them. And then I could put them in a tupperware container until I use them. I see in the article these ladies also give you a few hints. Perhaps tomorrow will be a new day and I will definitely try these noodles.

Thanks all for being here for me!

Hi chickies .... it's me again. I have been away from you for too long again!! I am going back to WW tonight. I have to get this eating in control again. I am getting worried that if I don't stop eating food that is bad for me then I will keep on doing my body harm and at 55 I should be looking after my health. So with your help I am going to make this work. ..... now where did I put that :willpower:
I have not even been walking as much as I should. I remember when my mum was living I walked for 2 miles at least every morning. Now I only do about 1 mile and I have to make myself do that!
So I will try and post most days and keep you updated and also find out how you are all doing........ is that THIN I SEE BACK?? ...... WOW ..... and a big to you Thin!
Gotta go now and maybe get a 2 mile walk in before work!!!!

Have a good day all ........ time for a Marston I think!

Go with it
Life can be great when you simply go with it. Instead of excessive worrying or endless analyzing, just make your choice and then move forward with it.
Your first instinct is often your best one, because it comes from your authentic self. When you start taking a lot of other conflicting opinions and perspectives into account, your options quickly shrink.

Certainly it pays to think things through, and to consider the advice of others. Just don't let it all dilute the passion that can energize your life.

Trying to make the perfect decision can often lead to no decision at all. Trying to avoid every mistake can be the biggest mistake, because you also avoid getting anything done.

Though you can plan for the future, you cannot precisely predict it. So go ahead with the best you have, and you'll be completely able to deal with whatever may happen.

Even though it has no guarantees, this day is an incredible opportunity. So step confidently, enthusiastically forward with a smile on your face and go with it.

Hello Ladies -

Been away for a few days and I see I have lots of catching up to do. I have been busy with work and EXERCISE. Yes I'm sticking to it. I workout MWF at 5:00am. Working out with a group of girls 5 of us, in a converted garage. We use hand weights, chair, mat, small step or use the outdoors. Of course if I tried at home by myself, I know I would not get the same results. It's past my bedtime, I have a 4:20am wake up call. I will post more this weekend.

Default RE: Here's smillin at ya.... Success...!!!!

Good Sunday afternoon Movers and Losers!

Frist off, it is so nice to see both Mooz and Thin back. We are 'family', just my sister's, brothers and me! To be sang to the Sly and The Family Stone song.

Good news on the weight lost saga, I lost 2.2 of the 4.6 pounds I gained last week. Bottom line, no charting = guaranted weight gain for me. You would think after all of these years, I would have learned the basics. Anyway, it is so nice to be back on the downslide once again. My teacher friend has now lost 36 pounds or 10% of his weight loss. He received the WW 10% key chain on Saturday, it was very cool. I know he counts everything that goes into his mouth. One day after school I gave him a WW Fruitie chew. You can have an entire package (about 10 of them) for one point. They have different fruit flavors. Anyway, as he popped it into his mouth he wanted to know how many points. It never occured to me to tell him. Telling... LOL

I've been reading the posts on another support thread for folks that are over 300 pounds. Girls, this posting rate is incredible, and I cannot keep up with them. They do have lots of good ideas, mostly on my least favorite topic exercise.

THIN: Good to hear from you again. What are you doing to start your weight loss saga again. I know maintenance is the worst part. I don't think I'll ever be maintenance, I'll always have to watch it.

Mooz: Thanks as always for the Marsten. How are your children? Hey I think Hal is coming your way again next March. Get ready! LOL

OneDay: I cannot believe, and am so proud of you. Exercise is key, we already know that. I appreciate the extra motivation from hearing about you, but goodness you are getting up a tad earlier than I could ever imagine. I get up an hour later, and that is tuff. What time is bed time? Hang in there, the results will be well worth it.

CatLover: How is Earl doing? You have not said much of late. I hope you are both doing well.

Shad: It's been a while, I hope the job you are on is not stressing you out. How long until you return home? Let's hear the daily adventures of Shad! You know I want to know about the food as you travel.

Nita: How is the home health care coming along? I hope it is opening doors of freedom for you to do things for you. It is difficult to find good help, and it is important that you monitor the quality of the care - continually.

I watched a strange movie late last night with Jennifer Anniston, "Friends With Money". It was strange all the way through, and ended thus-ly.

Hey guys Rachel Ray's new show starts tomorrow. I receive her magazine and am a big fan. She is really up to date with new ideas, not the same old thing. I hope we get it here, and I'll actually tape this show.

I have a personal day scheduled for Friday, I am excited. I have a good friend from out of state coming in Thursday eveing to visit. It's been 5 years since I've seen this person, and I am feeling older and naturally... heavier. Such is life.

So, I"m house cleaning, potting pretty white mums I snagged at WalJunk, and sweeping the deck to enjoy a summer dinner on the deck Thursday evening. Just say ahhhh....

I hope everyone has an OP week!

Hi Ladies,

It's so good to have Mooz and Thin back. I am right there with them. I really need to get motivated. I told Gene just now tomorrow I am dejunking our home with all non-diet foods. All of a sudden he seems to have lost his appetite, and therefore, more food is left for me to eat. Our in-home physical therapy is going quite well, however, the therapist discovered another serious problem. It seems Gene's diastolic reading is way too low. We have been monitoring it and it ranges anywhere from 44 to 56 and occasionally 62. We have an appointment with doc on Wed. As I stated before, I am back to my old habit of eating when I am stressed or frustrated.

I met one of my friends from the Y yesterday and she convinced me to try a 7:30 a.m. yoga class where you sit on a chair. Perhaps this will get me started. The weather is finally cooling off so quite soon I will be able to get on my treadmill in the garage. Because of eating too many carbs, it seems I have to take a nap almost every day. This is not good because then it is hard for me to fall asleep at night.

Hal, congratulations on your most recent weight loss! See, it does work--all we have to do is apply ourselves.

Take care all and have a wonderful Sunday!
Anita

Morning all,
Quick post as I am out to meet and greet again in a few minutes. Nothing much happening here really. Weather is fine and warming up - not that it ever got cold really (but the natives apparently think so). Yesterday I went up to Pennefather River and Beach. It was fun. 2 crazy characters who never stopped talking and never stopped taking the mickey out of each other, me and/or their delightful children. We had a brunch out on the beach and cavorted around in the 4x4 bush bashing and sand blasting. Lots of fun. Saw a croc - small only a couple of years old (still not trustworthy), lots of sea eagles, sand pipers, snapes, pelicans and herons, an Emu, a Wallaby and some of the most beautiful parrots I have ever seen. Saw some bush lakes (depressions in the ground which are constantly full of water for the animals etc.) Oh yes and we saw the tracks left by turtles coming up the beach to lay their eggs in the warm sand. Poor turtles - seems everything loves to eat the turtle eggs and the little turtles - man, pig, birds, etc. It is estimated that they lay around 200 eggs at a time but less than 3% survive to adulthood. There are some old WW11 planes (American Kittyhawks) that were crashlanded in the area. Apparently the pilots were on the way to New Guinea but got lost (no GPS in those days) and started back down the coastline into the Gulf. When they ran out of fuel, they had to ditch. The remnants are still there.
We got bogged in sand and belted through a lot of sapling trees. It was a lot of fun. The beach itself is about 40K long and you can drive its entire length to the mouth of the river.

Better go sort out the day

1day--wtg on the exercise!
Hal--good on the loss.

Earl doing quite well--sorry I hadn't updated. He walking without the cane, and thinks he won't need the handicapped tag next year Sees the dr a week from today. We both wish he'd had thiskind of help years ago, but I guess many of the techniques are now or at least not available out of a specialized neurological center.

NIta--praying for you and Gene.

Shad--interesting about the planes. My husband's favorite uncle was a pilot somewhere in that area--I know he visited Australia and liked it, but not sure where he actually flew.

Hello Ladies,

Nita - I hope you joined your friend at the Y. Yoga would be a great stress reliever for you. Glad the pt caught the low diastolic reading. Keeping you all in my prayers. Are you still working out at the other gym?

Shad - I'm so glad you share all your interesting sites with us. When I read your notes, I just hear that Aussie accent.

Cat - glad to hear Earl's doing good. How's working going?

Thin - I'm with Hal, I don't think i'll ever get to a maintenance place in my life. In my book any kind of exercise is a good thing. You just gotta do it!

Hal - Congrats on your 2.2 weight loss. What night and channel is Rachel Ray on? I know Paula Dean is also having a evening program. My wakeup time is 4:20am MWF and I try to get to bed by 9:30-9:45 Sun, T & Th. So far that hasn't happened. And the days I do exercise, I'm in bed by 9:30pm.

Mooz - thanks for the Marston quotes. WE missed them. Hope your having a OP day.

We'll ladies I've stayed with the program going on 2 weeks now, or 6 workouts. Got on the scale last friday and no loss, BUT it was also a week prior to TOM. My only food goal is to eat 2 fruits per day. That was it. I could still eat what I wanted. And believe it, eating 2 fruits per day is hard for me. The first week I noticed I still ate anything. This week it seems like I"m watching more of what I am eating. WE'll see. Her workouts vary, yesterday was just a weight circuit. And then of course ABS. Those about kill me. I'm really motivated to stay with this. I've noticed at work, I'm don't get as stressed as I usually do.

Default positive steps

I took two positive steps-- (1)I got a pedometer, and (2)I sent in an application for a program at the local co-op/health food store where the chef will help you with making healthier choices.

Hope you are all doing well.

Hi chickies .... just a quick call. I didn't make it to WW yet. I decided to start a word processing course and it is on a Tues night so I can't go to both!
I am trying to eat healthy. I have to go see about my Blood Pressure on Monday morning so maybe the nurse will shock me into getting healthy. She took my blood to do tests on it over a week ago and the results of it will be in too!
I will report back to you then ....
Have a good weekend all .....

What it means to you

Your actions are as effective as you want them to be. When there's a real and meaningful purpose behind what you do, that's when you'll do your best.
If you find yourself getting nowhere, take a look at why you're doing what you're doing. If the level of commitment is weak, the level of achievement will be weak, too.

You unquestionably have the potential for greatness. To realize that potential, make sure there's a strong connection between your purpose and your actions.

When you have a compelling reason why, not only will you be able to figure out how to make it happen. You'll also find within yourself the drive, the commitment and the persistence to see it through.

Whatever truly means something to you is what you will give the best of yourself to. And there is no greater beauty than when that happens.

Put those things you truly care about into action. And your actions will surely bring magnificent results.

Hello Ladies -

Had my weight in yesteday morning and I lost 2.4 lbs. I was hoping to see a bigger number, but I had to remind myself I"m also working with weights. Got some light showers this morning, which are badly needed here. I think our lake is 15ft low. Today taking it easy, a little to easy, been watching tv most of morning.

Cat - those were 2 great steps in the right direction. I have a pedometer around here to that I need to start wearing. I know when i'm in the office I don't take that many steps until I see how little I am walking. Then I try and up it.

Mooz - Hope you get some good results from your blood test. Are the kids back at school?
