Got to a short WW meeting. Down 1.2#........somewhat of a shocker, as I had no idea how I fared. Kerry, I am getting my walks in-that is about all.
I am having trouble keeping my mouth shut- or open without food. Love that stress monster.........
So you have been to the hospital too? Sorry about sdss'
and his shoulder. Amazing that his mother did nothing.........once again, bless you for being you. And for the blessing you are in your step son's lives.
DOn't sweat the tiny gain. It can be all water........especially if your eating has been a bit off. Glad you got to Curves !
This week stinks. Monday, mammogram for me (routine stuff), today errands, tomorrow Dm's colonoscopy (remember she had colon cancer a year ago), Thursday, Dd's sonogram (renal, bladder) and Friday, the new addition to my repetoire- Dd (the 20 yr old) has to go back to the orthopedic specialist, she is still experiencing pain in the stress fracture......so big mouth mom called the Dr, and he wants to see her again. perhaps she will need a soft cast this time. Who knows. I am getting NOTHING done that I wanted to do this summer. House is still a zoo-and I am getting little time to myself.
Stinks. Couple that with some wonderful moods from Atilla and it has been a real rainout. Maybe next week all the doctor stuff will be done......and I can fall into some kind of routine. Nuff bellyachin. Nite!
Ginny I can feel your pain with going to the doctor's all week long. Tuesday I took my one stepson to the eye specialist and then today to the dentist. Only to find out that the kid has an infection in his gums from two baby teeth that are hanging on by a thread and two permanment teeth that are trying to come in all at the same spots. This poor baby has been complaining to his mom in the middle of the night crying for a couple weeks now that his teeth are killing him. Yet did she do anything about it NO! If she had told me on the phone yesterday while discussing the other stepson, we would have never known. Yesterday took the injured child to the orthpedic specialist to find out that he has a fracture in his shoulder, so he has to wear his sling for three weeks and then go back for another set of xrays. So I am so sick of going to doctor appointments and none of them are close to home. They are all either 30 or 60 minutes away from home. Then I have been a little upset with my spouse this week, because I babysit the kids during the day, cart them back and forth to their appointments, feed them lunch, make sure they read and make the one do his vision therapy while their daddy is at work. Plus try to keep the house straightened up, dishes washed along with the laundry. Only for him to come home from work to sleep the afternoon away, get up and take a shower and go hang out with our one friend until the ween hours of the morning. Last night we did go spend some time together but it was with our one friend, his brother and finance. But right before we went out bowling, he asked about my weigh in at TOPS and I told him that I had gained a half a pound only for him to go off and tell me that I am to stick to my diet and not treat myself every once in awhile. So I had a crappy evening. So that is how my week has been going?
Congrats on your 1.2 pound loss. That is great! I am proud of you. I hope you are having a better week than I am. I hope that it is just stress and that my nerves are shot from all the running that I have had to do. Hope you have been getting good news from all your doctor's appointments!
Well my dh just walked in the door. So I guess I better get off here and go talk to him. His friends must be busy tonight and that is why he has graced me with his presence.
Talk to you later. Have a great evening!
Kerry
Just you and me Kerry, but you are great company! I am sorry about your spouse (he has been THAT much of a creep that Dh doesn't fit! ). Aw, I understand. I have days like that where using the "dear" is painful. Well, lets see- at least he asked about your TOPS meeting (some credit for at least noticing you attend meetings). TOPS is a major program (as is WW) and not some fad thing. And I know nothing about it really, but am positive that a food treat/deviation from strict eating is allowed, probably encouraged, as long as it is controlled, not excessive and occasional. Hang in there..........remember all that you learn at meetings...rely big time on all the support you get from them. (I have people tell me I sound like a walking WW meeting at times). Sorry that Dh had to be such a creep with his admonishment, and in the future I would use some advice from a meeting as a response. (the WW response to not allowing a treat would be that food excursions are allowed, we can eat anything we like, just have to count the points and adjust the rest of the days eating accordingly). Hope I am not eating a dead horse here, I do so understand how it is to have a non dieting husband/family and have to live with the comments (my MIL is the queen of snotty comments). As far as you and your stepsons...crumb, their birth mother should be called in for child abuse. You are keeping those kids healthy, safe and educated. Where would they be without you? Hugs to you....and I have said it before, bless you for all you do for them.
My weekend has been ok. We saw Pirates last nite. It was pretty good- and it is really just a set up for the third and final movie. The entire plot and subplots are hanging.....and beg for resolution. Dh was busy this am with Ds's baseball game, then he went to his mother's. I had a mad scramble. Two weeks ago, my WW leader lent me her Flex and Core cookbook. Yesterday pm, I subbed on a short route for a coworker who had to go for chemotherapy and just before I left I asked Ds to clean up from the frozen pineapple he was eating. He inherited his listening skills from his father.....left the pineapple out...the ziplock bag fell over and was unzipped. Pineapple juice got all over Laura's cookbook. I was livid. I called the WW 800 # and at least learned that the book is still in print. This morning I drove to the WW center.....hoping that I could find a copy of the book to replace Laura's. thank goodness they had one.......so now I own a really nice smelling (love the smell of pineapple) Flex and Core cookbook, and Ds can live another day. (I was ready to kill him). I did get a nice walk in today- and my "step" count is at 10090 at the present. Gee, I hope this shows up on the scale.
I have babbled enough for one day.......nite! (miss you Robyn, Pam and Mouse!)
hello hello hello
I'm home! Exhausted and still giddy from the fun! Had a wonderful wonderful time! Enjoyed every moment away! Must unpack and get to my regular duties before the ants carry away the dawg and cat. The boys have eaten EVERYTHING so I must get my act together and make menus and get the groceries rather quickly! Will post link to my photos later. Know you all can't wait! hehehhee
I've not had the chance to read the posts that I've missed! From the sounds of Gin's last email....(((Kerry and Gin))))
Gotta run.........I've GOT to get some sleep! I need a vacation to recover from my vacation!
take care,

Hey trob and Melody! Did you find us? Please stay for a bit! They WILL be back....weekends are always slow on this thread! ....as are summers! Post and let me know that you are here!
mermaid, your link was right on target. i am so glad to find a group of teachers to chat with.
a little about me....i have taught for 17 yrs. started in kdg. and stayed there for 13 yrs. moved to 1st for one year and then back to kdg. for another two. i have just finished up my first year teaching art. i teach all of the 5th graders for our district and also teach 7 classes K-4 at two local elem. schools. i have discovered that my busy schedule during the school year is a big help to loosing weight. you know what that means don't you.....not doing so well while on summer break. i have set a mini goal for 10 pounds before school starts back again mid aug. thanks for letting me know about the group!!!
I'm glad that my link put you here with us! We get a few visitors...and then we have a few "regulars"! Things here during the weekend are quite slow! So, please check back often! You've GOT to meet my friends here who I rely on quite a bit! They understand "school stuff"!
About me.... well.... I am nearing my 20th year of teaching 1st grade. I think that this may actually be year 19 for me...will have to count it up ... I always say that "Paradise runs together so I've lost track!" But we are painfully near 20 for sure! 17 of my years were spent at one school (actually one of the schools that I attended as a child...) in the same room! After all those years and ALL of that security..... I decided to change school SYSTEMS to be closer to my home. I now teach grade 1 for the local school system and drive further than I did to my old school....but its all good! The change did WONDERS for me in so many ways! I love where I teach now! In fact, I just returned from a week in Florida at the National I Teach 1st conference....that the school sent me to! (Gotta love THAT!)
I'm the mom of 2 boys...11 and 14. I am married to my junior high school sweetheart who is a newly trained locksmith. We have a 20 year old kitty and a 5 month old puppy (who began going to training classes this afternoon!)
I am VERY sarcastic! ....and I talk (type) a LOTTTTTT! I have (or had before Florida, WolfgangPuck's and other tasty restruants!) shed 38 pounds and have at LEAST another 50 to go! I do WW when I'm not hanging out in Florida with my best friend (a 1st grade Florida teacher who met me at the conference and then played Louise to my Thelma for the remainder of the week!). Exercise and self discipline are two of my BIGGGGG areas of no control. I joined Curves this summer to move my big fat fanny! (I will return to Curves tomorrow morning! They are closed on Sundays here.)
Are you following any certain plan? What do you do for exercise?
um, like I said, I talk WAYYYY too much! Enough of me....
Glad to have you here!
it is nice to find another talker!! i too seem to have a lot to say. right now i am not following anything, although i did an 8 wk. ww at work program last spring. i lost 16 pounds and found 10 of since summer break. several years ago i lost my first 10 by going to the gym everyday for 1.5 hrs and then to water aerobics for an hour and then a 2.5 mile walk everynight. i loved all of the exercise and i didn't have to change the way i ate at all. BUT....things changed and all of that exercies no longer fits into my daily schedule. i have a 14 yr. old son and a 10 yr. old daughter who keep me very busy and when you throw in my husband of 17 yrs. and his new career as a phototgrapher mintues for just me are few and far between. i think that is why i do so much better when i am at school. i am so busy that i don't have time to eat and since i am in three buildings during each week i have not made lounge buddies yet, which is a good thing when you are trying to lose weight. i have started walking 1-2 times a day and then i do ab work at home with a exercise ball. as far as eating, i have not gotten that back under control just yet. if i can keep busy i am fine but once i slow down for even a minute i am in the kitchen looking for something to munch on.
in my spare time, (yeah, like i have a whole lot of that) i make fused glass jewelry and will be showing my work this fall. my family also likes to spend time hiking, although we have not made it out into the wooks in a long time. before my husband quit his real job, he did only wildlife and outdoor photos. now we have to pay the bills so he is doing a lot of portrait work and event photos. (you can see his stuff and learn a little more about us at www.lostvalleyphoto.com ) my son is also a "prof. photog" selling two prints to arkansas game and fish for use in their yearly calendars.
see, i told you that i like to talk/type!!
how cool that your school sent you to fl. for a conf. my school district will pick favorites and those people get to go and do whatever they want while the rest of us have to sit at home. it doesn't do much for team building.
well, i had better run for now. it is great to have you to talk to. thanks again to finding me!! trob
Just a drive thru visit..........Welcome Trob!!!!! I am a massive yackity yacker here too. And completely off the wall to boot. I look foward to getting to know you.
Welcome back Robyn!!!!! Missed you lots, my friend! Glad the trip was good.
Gotta go- trying to find something to eat out with my remaining 8 points. And I am starving. Not a good sign. See ya!
Hi Ladies,
Welcome to our group, Trob! Welcome back from your vacation, Robyn!
My name is Kerry. I have been teaching Special Education for the 8 years. My first year I was a perm. sub for a Special Education Dept for a County School system in NE Ohio. Then I taught 6th-8th grade LD/DH students in at an inner city school for 3 years in Central Ohio. Then I meet my dh and moved to Southern Ohio to marry him and now I teach MH to 7th and 8th graders for the County School District in the next county from me. I have three stepkids. My sdd is 10 years old and just discovered boys. She told me today that she wanted to ask one out to go to a movie with her next weekend. Guess who gets to drive and watch a movie with them? Moi. Then I have twin sds's who are 8 years old. I have spent my whole summer taking care of them while their dad and their mom is at work. Plus taking them back and forth to their doctor appointments and the library reading program. When I do get any free time I like to listen to music, read, watch movies, go workout at Curves, go for walks or spend time with my dh and our friends. So that is a little bit about me. I have to come on here and vent to my friends about the little or no support I get at home with my diet or helping take care of my stepkids. So I hope you don't mind me complaining everyonce in awhile.
Took the stepkids on a bus trip today to see the Cinnicatini Reds play the Colo. Rockies. It was a fun trip, but very hot there. We were setting in left field run out in the blasting hot sun. Now I am trying to work up a enough energy to take a shower to wash off the sweat and grime. My sdd sat with my nephew's girlfriend's son who she asked out to the movies. Then a little boy sitting behind my dh and I told me that he liked my sdd. God I don't know if I am ready for little boys to like her just yet. LOL
Well I am going to end this and go get cooled off somewhat. Talk to you all later. Have a great evening.
Kerry
Hey ya'll! Having a MOMENT here....... Tomorrow I take our oldest for his HighSchool Freshman orientation. WHO told this kid that he could go to HS? ...and when did HIS FATHER get OLD enough to have a Freshman in HS? Holey MOLEY........ I'm pretty sure that I could do without this HS stuff! He made DrumLine...Marching practice begins the first few days of August.... sighhhhhhhhhhhh! thanks for listening!
Robyn I know what you mean about your son going to HS and how it must make you feel knowing that he is growing up. Yesterday I went through the same thing over my sdd asking out the boy she really really likes to a movie next weekend. Plus finding out that another boy has a crush on her. She is only 10 years old. I reminder meeting her when she was still in kindergarten. Now she is going into the fifth grade and starting to grow up way to fast for me. Tell your son congrats on making drumline. That is a major accomplishment. Will he just play at the football games or do they play for basketball games too? What grade will your youngest be in next year? Glad you had a great vacation. Have you started to recover from it yet.
Ginny how is your week starting off? I hope it has gotten off to a good start. I woke up this morning with cramps, backache and a really nasty headache. So I have been lounging around the house taking it easy so far. So has your son redeemed himself over the cookbook deal yet? Glad you were able to find another one to replace your friends copy. Hope you don't have to do the doctor appointment circuit this week. I don't have to go anywhere this week that I know of yet. Yeah! How did your oldest dd's appointment turn out on Friday?
Trob, if you haven't noticed we are all talkers here, so you came to the right place. I forgot to tell you last night that I am just watching what I eat and drink. I try to stay away from fattening foods, sweets and junk food. Plus limit the amount of diet pop that I drink. I am the co-leader for my local TOPS group. It is a weight loss support group. But I had to go off my diet yesterday at the ball game since there was really no healthy food choices there. I did see where they sold garden salads but I refused to pay 8 bucks to eat a saladthat was the size of a side salad at Wendy's. Now I will pay that price at a restuarant for a grilled chicken or steak salad, but not at a Red game. I did check out your dh's website. He does beautiful work. You must be very proud of him. I can relate to your comment about being able to stick to your diet during the school year, because you are always busy. But during the summer I find it especially hard since I have more free time and have access to food all the time. Especially my stepkids snacks. LOL Plus during the school year I do a two mile walking video each morning before I go to school. Then 3 or 4 nights a week I go workout at Curves. But this summer, my workouts are usually just going to Curves since I normally am busy being taxi cab driver to the kids appointments that their mom makes for them and then lets me take them. Plus trying to get my one stepson to do some school work so he won't be so far behind in third grade this coming school year. He has problems with his eye muscles being very weak. We just found this out at the end of last school year. I would love to lose some more weight before the end of the summer.
Hi to Mouse and Pam. I hope everything is okay with you gals. We miss chatting with you. The heavy rains a few weeks ago didn't sweep you up and take you away in some flood waters did it?
Well I am going to sign off here for now. I think I am starting to feel a little bit better. I probably should do something to do other than sitting around reading. LOL
Have a great day!
Kerry
P.S. Does any of your school's have a weight loss challenge between the staff? My school did a Biggest Loser contest last year for 12 or 13 weeks in the spring. We are wanting to start something at the beginning of the school year. I am just looking for some new ideas.
KAR73, i teach at three different schools and my sister teaches at another. my main school is full of a bunch of skinny minis so they don't do any weight loss stuff. one of the other schoools that i teach at did a biggest loser, but i didn't join in. i am only there 1 1/2 days a week so it wasn't really worth it to me. i did join an 8 wk ww group at my sisters school and did great. i am going to try to come up with something this year probably just among people at several schools.
Robyn- my condolences. I have survived HS twice, and it is hard to believe that Ds is a senior in HS (my second survival, coming to an end). One of the things I can say about HS.......besides that it brings all the fun and interesting stuff like drivers licenses, dating etc.......is that the time flies. It is the fastest 4 years of your life. Tomorrow, or it will seem that way, you will be looking at colleges. Welcome back. Congrats on Marching band to your Ds too. A very fun experience, in my book.
Kerry-oh that darned preadolescent stuff starts too darned soon. A 10 yr old with a crush? Unfortunately for me, I can see changes in my 10 yr old...and I am not liking them one bit. I miss my little girl......Hope you get some time in for yourself today and a nice long workout at Curves.
Got my treadmill misery in this am. Guess all this working out stuff is working. I have had 2 people comment that I look so much thinner. Wish the stupid scale went down to go with it! I have been wearing my pedometer for over a week now, getting my 10,00 steps in daily. Ok, yesterday I did not get 10,000 in but all other days I did. Blew it with some stress eating last nite. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........
Gotta scoot and get something done here. I feel so lazy today. Take care!
Well I am feeling better from my PMS crap. So I guess I must scoot out the door to Curves. Then I will come home and enjoy a nice relaxing shower. It is too hot to do anything else today. This is a first day off that I have had for a couple weeks from babysitting. So I don't plan on doing anything for anyone but me. For example, my dh wanted me to drop off my sds's vision therapy stuff to his mom at her work and I said no. If she wants it that bad she can try to catch me at home after she gets off work. I am done making live easy on her. Especially after last week's broken shoulder and tooth infection incidences. If she is the kids mom she needs to start acting like a parent more than I do. I think I will spend the afternoon after my shower by reading and watching tv. I did watch two movies over the weekend. The Family Stone and Failure to Lauch. Both were excellent chic flicks as my male friend who works at the video store called them.
Glad you were able to get your treadmill time in this morning. I can't wait until we can buy our own house and then I can think about getting a treadmill. I love using the one at Curves when I have the time and don't have to wait to get on it. Glad people are starting to notice a skinnier Ginny. I bet that makes you feel good!
Trob, do you know how the one school did their biggest loser contest? We divided up into teams of 4 people and would weigh in on Fridays. Everyone paid 2 bucks. One going for the winning team for that week and the other buck for the team at the end of the contest who lost the most weight during the contest. But the team I was on wasn't really motivated to lose weight and that just didn't help me none. So I am thinking maybe we need to do something more individual this coming year.
Well enough chatting from me right now. I better go to Curves before I let the time slip away and then not be able to go workout. Then the scales will really show my ballpark hot dog, popcorn and lemon ice chill from yesterday's ball game tomorrow night at TOPS.
Talk to you later!
Kerry
