Mouse- sorry I forgot Imp was a he and not a she. Will he forgive me?
I am happy to hear that you understand the principles of cat ownership. Thought for a wee bit there that Imp was not doing his job keeping you in line. Have you ever tried the recombinant bike? (sp?) That appears as though it is not stressful to leg joints, and I have a friend with foot problems who swears by hers. So sorry about the rain. It is no better here in southen NY.

Update on Ds and the regents.....picked up the registration form and also found out that his teacher is offering a review course for a few days before the retest. He did pass the course, just failed the test.....(got an 83 on the final). I will speak with the teacher tomorrow and see what she says.

Gotta go finish taming the paper monster!

Evening All,
I am sorry to say that we don't have the rain in Southern Ohio like you all do. But my sister lives only 1 1/2 hours away in WV and they have all kinds of flooding and rain going on there.
Robyn, glad to hear that you finally found the pair of shorts you needed. Bet it felt great to find out that you are a size smaller too! Keep up the good work! By the time you have to go school clothes shopping, you will probably be down another size. Congrats on the 1 pound loss too. That is wonderful. Hope your kitchen cleaning is going well for you.
Mouse, sorry to hear about all the rain you are getting. Hope you were able to take a nap this afternoon. Could you try walking on an even ground for short spans of time? Or an excerise bike?
Ginny, sorry to hear about your ds's failed regents test. So how long is summer school and when does he take the test again? I am hoping that you are feeling better from your TOM.
Things have gotten a little bit better here. I just gave my dh the cold shoulder for a few days and he finally asked me what was wrong. I told him about the way I was treated at the pool and he said that he isn't allow to kiss me at school when he comes to visit me, so I shouldn't be kissing him at the pool when he is working. But I asked how that rule is different for his dd. He couldn't give me an answer. I thought if there was to be no kissing of any kind at a work place that should apply to everyone.
I had plans to go workout at Curves today. But my dh told me this morning that today was lawn mowing day. So I push mowed the yard for 3 1/2 hours. So I think that is good enough excerise for one day. It had only taken me 2 1/2 hours in the past. But today was the first time it has gotten mowed since June 13th, so it was thick in spots. I am hoping that it will show up on the scale tomorrow evening when I weigh in at TOPS.
Well I am going to go and reply to a few emails that I have been putting off. Talk to you all later. Have a great evening.
Kerry

Sorry for the very quick run in and exit earlier...ie, my rain comment... the lightening came fast and furious and I was in a rush to get the machine turned off!

Gin, sorry to hear about your son and the test. How devestating for everyone! When does the review and retest happen?! Just what you needed....something else to cause stress! ARghhh! (((hugs)))

Kerry, hope all goes well for you at TOPS! Pushing the mower for THAT long sorta overshadows the time at Curves! Yes! I'm happy that I found the shorts....and I'm thrilled that they are smaller! Thank you for your encouraging words!

Mouse, I have NO ideas for you for exercise, I'm afraid! Recumbent bike? (Is that spelled correctly?) Youre a Mouse out of water...... Know it is making you crazy! ...and the rest of this week doesn't look too good ...weather wise!

Kitchen isn't done. BUT I'm making progress! I got some other paperwork stuff done for the BoyScout Troop...and of course I messed around with some school stuff for next year! What an idiot I am! LOL.... I'm addicted to this junk, I guess!

The boys did their "studies" this morning with little to no arguments. Rather pleasant and surprising all rolled into one! The youngest continues to be the mouth about it....but I've explained that I'm the queen and he is GOING TO do it or not do anything else. PERIOD. We will see!

Gotta go see if I can clean up after dinner... JUST when I get the kitchen 1/2 way clean THEY WANT to eat! The nerve!

Take care! Thanks for all of the encouraging words!

Evening all.
I think Imp will forgive you, I'm not sure that he'll forgive me. He's been kinda mad at me all day because when he was meowing non-stop I told him to shut-up. He did let me pick him up and pet him, but didn't stay long and hasn't come back since.
As for the bike: I have tried the recumbent bikes at my gym (well, the one I work at), but it really hurt after just a few minutes. I've also tried walking: I can walk short distances, and do walk to grocery shop, get around the school, run errands, to and from parking lot or around the house, but I don't think I can do it fast enough or long enough to make any difference.
We have had 1.6 inches of rain today, which is less than in the past few days fortunately, but... I think it is still raining. Its hard to tell right now because it is dark out, and I don't think it is pouring anymore... just raining.

Sorry to hear that what I thought was correct....biking and walking aren't good options for our Mousie. Swimming or exercising in the water seems to be nearly your only option.... Unless....you did some sort of weight training at home.... and don't scream...have you looked into any of the videos for people who are ielderly or are in a wheelchair? My mom has a very difficult time standing / walking. She borrowed one of those videos from a friend. She felt as if she was at least doing something.... but then.... She now has a large hot tub and does exercises each evening (that it isn't raining...ahem!) in there! I know it is so frustating. My mom was once into high impact aerobics! "Being like this" makes her nuts!
Just trying to think of things to get you moving!

Heading to bed...soon! take care, mmmmmeee

I did lift weights at the gym. And, I have looked at the DVDs for those with physical problems. They didn't look very promising, especially given that I've never really liked aerobics. That is the other problem, of course. I used to like to walk... and would do that willingly. But other than that, lifting weights or swimming, I dislike most forms of exercise. I did play volleyball in high school, and was on a team; I also played briefly in college (the team schedule conflicted with my math class however, and I had to leave).
I blame this, in large part, on most of my gym teachers during school. Many of them were rude and allowed those with better athletic ability to pick on those of us that weren't as coordinated. I am terribly uncoordinated; I always have been. My mom tried many different activities; I liked gymnastics until we moved from tumbling to things that required me to climb heights or jump over stationary objects. A gym teacher darned near ruined swimming for me (okay, she did ruin lap swimming for me for many years) by telling me that I was the worst swimmer she'd ever seen. It took me YEARS to be brave enough to go anywhere near a gym.
The radar looks like it might be clearing up, so maybe I can get to the pool tomorrow around lunchtime.

You've stirred up some old unpleasant memories! Very OLD! LOL I've harbored bad feelings about PE teachers for FOREVER. You are right. Instead of working with / helping strengthen those with less than GREAT skills..... The effort / time was spent letting the natural born JOCKS do their thing while the rest of us were divided up via self esteem building methods.... My personal favorite PE game is DodgeBall. Put the weak in a closed circle and have the strong pulverize them! I have NEVER EVER forced that game with my students. I did learn from my early dodge ball games to be very quiet...fly under the radar....move as little as possible....you will nearly be as invisible as you feel. Happy memories. I'll spare you the story from 8th grade of them forcing me up on the balance beam.... had to walk it AND do a foreward roll..... if you FORCE the gawky, uncoordinated fat kid to do it...perhaps she will turn into Nadia or Olga and realize that she DOES love gymnastics or perhaps she will talk about the event 199 years later and still get tears in her eyes from the memories of the humiliation! Gee.....I must go now...I've got balance beams to fall off of in front of my wonderfully kind and compassionate 8th grade peers...
Sign me Olga!

Oh, yea, Robyn. My gym teachers in high school were so bad that I started coming up with reasons that I couldn't take gym. My doctor finally let me sign up for adaptive PE where we walked, lifted weights, and swam.
Anyway, it is pouring again as I type. I don't know if it is storming with it, but it is sure pouring.
I should have stayed awake at 6:00 a.m. and gone swimming then.

-------------------------------
ARRRRRRGH! Its pouring here again! And I haven't gone swimming yet. I'm so ticked off. It just came down so hard here it actually soaked my balcony (very unusual since the balcony is totally covered!). We've had 1.3 inches of rain today, and more than 10 inches since Friday. There might be some sun in sight though... Let's hope. I'm going to go find a nice flood puddle and swim in that if I don't get to a pool soon!

Evening Ladies,
Sorry to hear that the rain is still coming down in buckets for you, Mouse. I did get a kick out of your comment about going to find a rain puddle to swim in before long if you can't make it to the pool. I hope you will be able to go tomorrow. I know what it feels like when you can't get any exercise in. I went through that faze for about two months while we were in the process of moving. It could drive a person nuts. I can agree with you on the PE teachers whole heartly. I was never a very out-going person sportswise, because God didn't deem me worthly in that way. So I hated gym starting in middle school and all the way through high school. Now I regret not being more atheltic back then and not playing a team sport. Maybe I wouldn't be a fat person working so hard to get fit and healthier. Hope you can find an exercise that you can do when you can't go swimming.
Robyn, I thought of you today when I went to Curves. I did make it in this afternoon. I was the only one working out until half way through my second lap around the circut. I had a nice chat with the new girl working there. So how are your abs today? Are you still sore? So did the boys do their studies today with no problems? I am working with my one stepson and he thought I was killing him making him read with me outloud for a half hour today. I told him that if he wanted to get any better at reading then he needed to work with on it a little bit each day. I said that you little sneak got out of it for a good week and half. So are you getting excited about your trip to Flordia in a few weeks? Did you know that if you wanted to you could get a travel pass and workout at a Curves in Flordia if there is one near where you are going to be staying? That is just a suggestion. Did you finish your kitchen cleaning yet?
Ginny, how are you feeling today? I hope a little bit better. How did the chat go with your ds's teacher today? Did you get the paper monster tamed yesterday? I hope you were able to enjoy some very much needed Ginny time today.
I did loss 3 pounds tonight at TOPS and was my group's weekly best loser. So that was a great motivator. I am hoping that when I go back in two weeks to have another loss. We are not meeting next Tuesday due to the July 4th holiday.
Well I better go and put the Avon orders I got tonight on my Avon order sheet. Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a great evening.

A short hello......and many thanks for putting up with the spelling challenged me (hey, some days you have it, and some you don't). Still busy. Today I had my annual physical, rushed thru that to get to WW (up a #, but I am retaining all kinds of water due to PMS), then rushed like a nut to get Mr Happy signed up for the retake of the regents. After many conversations with all involved (his school, our district and the school offering the regents and review class) we all agreed that he only has to retake the test. Seems that Mr Testosterone could not read the directions on the test properly and that is why he failed. (got that after speaking to the woman who graded his test). Aw crap.......you mean you can't get a HS diploma in baseball? Robyn I am sure you understand all the nonsense phone calls I had to make dealing with different schools etc.......... And I got him out of summer school. Gee, thanks Mom. Ungrateful brat.

Mouse- somehow, someday you will get some swimming time in. Hopefully the sun came out, it finally did here in NY (but it is so humid).

And I completely sympathize with all the stories about PE teachers. I only had one that was at all nice to non athletic types such as myself. I hated gym too. Kerry- yup I think 3.5 hours of mowing is a workout too!! Congrats on the 3# loss. Robyn- you get that kitchen clean?????

I am so tired. Still have not had a day to myself.......tomorrow I am getting my hair cut.....some badly needed time relaxing.See ya!

Happy SUNNY Thursday to you folks! How is everyone doing?

This morning I woke up when DH went off to work and went back to reading! .....reading a trashy novel! GOTTA love summer time! Read for a while....dozed back off to sleep for about an hour and then pulled myself out of bed and went to Curves! I had the whole place to myself for about 1/2 the time....and then some others joined. I still feel like an outsider there as I don't know a soul...... But I am enjoying going.....and well, I *am* going! Kerry, I asked about the travel pass for my time in Florida...and it seems that because I joined on a "Teacher/Summer" deal thing, that I'm not allowed to have a pass...(but I could sign up for a full year and then get that option...um, Not now, but thanks! I may join once my summer thing runs out...but I'm not going to do it now!) So...I am just going to have to do my own thing while on this trip! My friend who is meeting me there is a health nut...so I don't think that I will get too far from doing SOMETHING! Thanks for caring enough to mention it, Kerry! There is a lot that I don't know about Curves....and I'm rather reluctant to ask!

Tomorrow I take the oldest to one of his many specialist appointments.... Gin, I've been thinking of you as I spent 45 minutes on the phone this morning....just verifying appointments and referrals... and begging the pediatricians office to write a new referral as the old one expired 8 days ago....... this appointment was rescheduled by the specialist back in April.....and I asked about the referral then...was reassured that it would still be good... today I called just to be sure...(meant to do it yesterday!) .....Tomorrow would have been a HORRIBLE day had we traveled all that way only to be told that the referral had expired.... SO. 45 minutes well spent......frustrating...but at least he will get to see the doctor tomorrow!

Gin, my heart felt SIGHS of compassion for you! Phone calls and frustrations later you discover that there was a problem with understanding the directions of the exam!?! CURSES! How frustrating. So. Thank goodness, he doesn't have to endure summer school......but now the pressure is on for him to pass this test! He will! You're a good mom for helping him with this mess......

Mouse, are you in the pool yet? The pool is THE place to be! The humidity is so horrible here! You can cut the air with a knife! The puppy wants to be outside....but then wants in...poor baby! I'm letting her in and out as she wants as it has been SO long since she got to play outdoors! Hope that you are getting to swim now!

Kerry, hope all is going well with you and your dss that you are reading with this summer. My oldest has gotten caught up in his novel and is not resisting his reading time. My youngest on the other hand wants to know why he has to do "stupid" stuff this summer. He is getting his work done ...against his will AND mannnnnn can he make his assignments LAST a LONGGGGG time! BUT, I don't give up!

Gotta run. Orthodontist appointment......and then have to get over to the pediatricians office to pick up that referral....... and then fight with the kid over his "stupid stuff"!

Hope you all have a great day! Take care, meeeeeeee

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for sending the rain and thunderstorms to my neck of the woods last night. I had planned to go for a walk after dinner last night at the lake. But it start to rain and storm. So I came home read a book and watched America Got Talent. There are some crazy people out there that think they have talent that is worth $1 million. Today is a beautiful sunny day. I am hoping to get my walk in at the lake this afternoon with my one stepson. He needs to start walking and running more to get in shape for football season. The other one gets out of it for another week or so until his throat heals some more from getting his tonsils taken out last Friday.
Ginny, glad to hear that all your ds needs to do is take the exam over again. It sure must have been frustrating for you to find out that the only reason he failed is because he had a difficult time understanding the directions. Hope you enjoy your much needed Ginny time today! Other than getting your haircut, whatelse did you do for your self today? As for that pound gain, you will take that off next week and then some.
Robyn, sorry you can't get a travel pass. That stinks! I did make it to Curves three times this week. I am hoping to go either tomorrow or Saturday morning or both too. What kinds of questions do you still have about Curves? Make I could answer them or I could ask the ladies at my Curves for you. My sds did ask to read this morning after he did his vision therapy. So that is plus in his favor. We did start a much more challenging book for him to read. So I am hoping that by the end of it, he is able to read it a lot better than he did this morning. Hope your doctor appointments today and tomorrow go well!
Mouse were you able to get some swimming time in yet? I hope you were able to.
Hi Pam. We miss you. Hope all is well with you!
Well I need to go and get ready for my walk with my sds.
Talk to you all later.

Robyn- so is this a good trashy novel or a bad one? Hope you are enjoying it and I am very happy for you that you are getting some down time in! Oh, I hear ya with the Dr appts........what I left out the other day, is that I am also in the throes of Dr appt misery. Made appts for Dd to have her stress fracture reevaluated just before she goes into her fall ball season, Ds (Mr Testosterone) to have his pre- school physical, and Dd for another sonogram and visit with the urologist (think she will need surgery this time....we will see). I spent a good hour doing all that two days ago, and because NOBODY, or I should say none of the patients want to go for any of these appointments, I got no thanks , just scowls and frowns. Gee, Mom for all you do, this Bud's for you.......yeah right. Glad you got to Curves this am.
Sounds as though you are starting to like it! Hey, when do you leave for sunny Florida?

Kerry- I am so glad for you that you got to Curves 3X this week. Working out with your stepson for football (walking with him) sounds good too, something to break up the routine a bit. I did not know you had a tonsilectomy in the house? How is he feeling? (and is he a good patient?)
Sorry about the rain. Hope it is a one day event for you.

Made it thru today. My hair cut was great- the stylist I have been using for years and I are pretty friendly with each other-think I was sort of her personal sounding board this am. Family problems etc....she is a great lady and I am glad I was there to listen to her. We have a lot in common.
Then a major Walmart haul. Thankfully I had no kids......so I got a lot accomplished and left a ton of money there. But it was necessary-about once every 3 months I do one of these blow out Walmart trips and during the school year I don't have the time to do so. Now with all the kids home the food should last a day......hopefully two ( just kidding). The two little boys have a baseball game tonite. I might go if the spirit moves me.........naw, I am not that insane.
Gotta go. See ya!

TGIF!!! Need I say more ladies!
I was a busy gal this morning. I went to get my paycheck, to the bank and Curves. While I was at Curves I decided to use the treadmill for a nice brisk 2 mile walk. Sure beat going outside in the heat and doing it. LOL
Ginny, glad that you got some much needed "Ginny Time" yesterday. As for my stepson he makes a bad patient. He had his tonsils taken out last Friday and he was moping around yesterday whining and crying about his ear hurting. But once his mom got here to pick him up he wanted to go out to eat for dinner. Which my dh and I laughed about because he was only able to eat one hot dog cut up yesterday for lunch and two pieces of watermelon at his grandma's. But he could only drink about 4 oz. of his Gatorade. His mom told him that he needed to eat and drink more or he would make himself sicker. So he is milking his surgery for all he can. Other than that he can breathe better so I guess that is a plus.
Robyn, hope your specialist appointments go well today. Where you able to squeeze in a visit to Curves this morning? I was the only one there for a little bit and then the floodgates opened and there were 7 or 8 people working out when I was finishing up. I am hoping to get back in there tomorrow morning. But that all depends on what time I get home tonight. We are suppose to be going out with one of our friends for dinner to BW3's and I don't know whatelse we will end up doing. Hope your weigh-in tomorrow goes well for you.
Mouse, how are you? You didn't take a swim in a rain puddle and float away on us did you? I hope you were able to get into the gym to go swimming.
Well I better go and get my bills written out and get my fat butt in gear and get a shower for the day. Talk to you all later.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kerry
