anagram-a belated happy birthday!!!!
arabella-thanks for the good idea about the ginger tea. sounds very soothing. ceara-congrats on the new puppy litter! and hello to katrinabgood, kaylets, and to all our royals. it's been an exhausting couple of days. i wasn't hurt, fortunately, but was in a car accident yesterday afternoon. i was rear-ended by a bus. very scary, and i am very sore today, but i know how lucky i am that i wasn't hurt. i definitely did not have to worry about eating too much today, but i think my appetite is coming back, so i want to commit to staying op tomorrow, and not use being sore as an excuse to not pay attention. i have been able to string some good days together remaining on task and don't want to blow that now. well, need to say nitey-nite. take care, all. |
Good Lord wsw! Glad you are OK....a bus?
Yes insanely busy...but the puppies are not here thank goodness...they are at the co-breeders' house. Have book club tonight...we are reading a biography...just pick one. I'm reading one about James Dean....so back I go! Maybe I'll walk today also....hmmm. |
*yawn* G'mornin' Queenlies
I took DH to the airport last night -- he's gone to London for the next 9 days. I'm glad of the chance to putter house and self into shape. I feel like everything, incl. moi meme, could use a little (read: a LOT) of TLC. The hiking weekend was great but exhausting and none of the usual pre-weekend or weekend tasks got done so ... catch-up time. Ah well, here we go. I'm going to do yoga in segments throughout the day and will stroll around the harbour and go to the second-hand bookstores later. Already planning an early night tonight  Last night after we left DH at the airport, DS and I went hunting for BD gifts for DGS, so I was traipsing around until after 9  Unheard of! And had been out to choir practice the night before.
I'm going low-glycemic index for a couple of weeks, a la South Beach induction. It always makes me feel so good I wonder why I ever stop. But I do. :chin: This is the easiest time to do it, while DH is away. And then back to WW core after the second week. Going to get that #20 lb. at WI on Monday, I am  This week the 2 pounds showed up at WI but the woman who weighed me in said that when you exercise far beyond usual intensity for a long time, muscles do sometimes retain water. Hoping it all goes in a whooooooshhhh! Ceara, I am heartily glad that you do not have 11 new pups in your house. That way madness lieth, I think. Of course, that's one of many routes... wsw, I'm so glad you're okay! But what a shock -- do take great and gentle care of yourself today. Yes, the ginger/honey is very soothing and the ginger really helps with any associated breathing problems. Hope you're feeling well soon! K, :queen:ies, I must do some work. Let's make this a good one! |
Hello luvlies....Happy Thursday! Who's ready for Fall? The Autumnal Equinox is almost upon us...time to celebrate the harvest and prepare for Winter's arrival. I love the Fall. I think I love each season best, just as it's getting started! Good thing I live in a temperate zone, there's always change to look forward to. Fall means glorious weather: cool days, blue, blue skies, changing leaves, sweaters, soup, apple and pumpkin picking, (and baking!) that smokey smell on a cool night, as folks get their fireplaces going again, the sound of geese honking overhead as they head south for the winter. All senses on overdrive. Yep, I'm ready...bye bye, Summer! It was great while it lasted!
Arabella, Wow, that sounds like a fantastic weekend! I love hiking, especially in the FALL! ( see above ;) ) I was going to comment that your muscles are so pumped up that it would show up as a gain, hang in there, the next weigh will be kinder! God's Stairmaster, indeed! :cp:  Hey, enjoy your solitude, sounds like you have it planned out nicely. :yoga: wsw...so glad to hear that you're okay...my god, a BUS? :yikes: <shudder> Sounds like your head's in the right place, not wanting to blow your streak of good days with stress eating following such trauma. :D ceara...So, how are the puppies? Did you get your walk in? Inquiring minds want to know..... Coming into the home stretch at work now...less than an hour to go. I have four new shrubs to plant, hoping to get them all in today. I went back to my loverly nursery on Monday with my sister. Picked up a dwarf burning bush, snowmound spirea, old fashioned lilac and an rhodedendron. Three of them I know where I planting, I've yet to determine where the lilac will go, though I have a nice empty corner in the back yard, in desperate need of something. So that's my exercise for today, I think, Tonight is WI. I'm not expecting anything grand, my enthusiasm seems to have waned a bit towards the latter part of this past week....methinks there's some PMS afoot...:chin: Hey, whatever will be, will be. I'm in charge here! It's up to ME to see wondrous things happen on the scale. I gotta remember that.... So, listen...I want you all to go out and have a great day. Do just one thing that you wouldn't normally do, maybe something that's good for you, or something that makes you smile or just feels good. Find something to celebrate. Sing out loud. Rejoice. Have fun! |
Another beautiful day in the (still) Summer Palace
Oh, it's gorgeous out there -- bright, clear, sunny. And Katrina's got me so fired-up I've got to get my butt out there and on my way to the gym! :strong: Catch you later, :queen:lies!
|
no walk yesterday, but I have today already! Now up for the vitamin and I will go out and do some yard work. Have a meeting tonight, which I've already done and printed the agenda for,..(yikes!) :yikes: and I work until 6....am going to put a pot of chili on for dinner.
So butt is in gear and at the moment is on the wagon. Will catch up later on posts! |
my appetite is back, but i did fine today sticking to my food plan. i didn't do my regular exercise, but am really sore and stiff, so may have to alter my exercising routine a bit for a little while. i have a rental car, which i got yesterday morning while my car is being repaired, but drving is making me a little gun-shy, i must say. i did what i needed to take care of, and no more than that, since i didn't want to be on the road much today. i guess it may take a little while til it feels "normal" again to be driving. when i was rear-ended by the bus on monday on the highway, i hadn't realized that it might take a while til i feel safe again behind the wheel. the bus driver had been driving too closely and too fast, and literally, boom!, drove into me. thinking about how lucky i am not to have been hurt badly in that accident really reminds me once again just how precious life is, and how fragile. i am also still very tensed up, and every time i see ambulances going by, it gives me a bit of a start. the paramedics strongly encouraged me to be checked out since i was in "a very little car, hit by a bus", so i gave in and did that. i had never been in an ambulance before and it was a little wierd, plus i was still so scared after the accident. i was released that evening, but just the time in the er felt much too long. my best friend (the one who is moving away to kenya for 2 years---ugh!! on the 9th) met me at the hospital and was such a great support that evening. well, suffice it to say, it has been a helluva week! i haven't been sleeping too well for the past few days, so hopefully tonight i will be able to finally feel a bit more relaxed, and get some good rest. well, that is the plan, anyway. hope everyone has a good evening. take care.

Hello girls its been awhile I am still struggling to get off 10lbs. more. Its not easy that is for sure.
wsw So sorry to hear about your accident do take care. That is a scary thing for sure. Arabella your so close to your goal. I have also tried the SB but for some reason can't stick to it long. I like my fruit and pasta so its hard for me to keep on their track. But it sure does make us realize what foods trigger us for more cravings. Good luck! Cearea your on the move with dinner in the oven too! Kat I have been gardening too its great exercise and the fall is such a good time to do it. Not so hot. This week I have been trying to do the stairs at work instead of the elevator, increase my water intake and park a ways out for more steps into my office. I am going to start to use my treadmill on saturday morning. If I can just get into a routine. I'd like to do it first thing in the morning but the noise would wake the hubby. I get up much earlier than he. Well have a great day girls. |
It's Friday! :cp: Breakfast out...parentals are back, so that'll be nice.
Club has a match on Sunday...dogs. It is supposed to rain :( but we will still be there. I have a lot of running around to do for it....supplies, photocopying etc to do...so I've gotta go and get meself organized! Tah! Have a great day ladies...nice to see you! |
Well I actually woggled yesterday....first time in ages. Woggled that is...I walk a lot and fairly fast. Self-talked meself into it! Time to up the intensity. Should do it again today between rain drops.
Have a great day! |
Just popping in for a minute...I'm expected to go help at the Boy Scout's fund raising car wash...in the rain.  Call me crazy for thinking that not too many funds will be raised.
Weigh in yielded a whopping 3.2 lbs off! I was stunned, at first my brain only allowed me to hear ".2" so I did a double take when the weigher said that I'd be getting another gold star for another 5# off....huh? So, that's a total of 15 off (but really 19!) I'm pumped! EXERCISE IS THE KEY. Yes, eating right is, of course, the main part of the equation, but without exercise, it's a much slower process. My words of bitter experience for the day. I finally got to the iris patch yesterday, and spent the better part of the day digging and weeding and dividing. I have a TON of rhizomes to re-plant. Anyone need any irises? Okay, gotta run, have a great Saturday, all! |
katrinabgood-congrats on that great weight loss!!
and hello to all our lovely royal kingdom. did ok yesterday op. you'd think that my body would get the idea that it is supposed to lose weight and not stay at the same number foreeeeeever, but the stubborn scale is still stuck. it's frustrating since i'm doing all the things which should be working. if i just hang in there, though, i know it will pay off eventually. well, i need to have some breakfast, and get some errands done. i am so sick of all the insurance stuff that seems never-ending, and this is for an accident that wasn't my fault! i am in paperwork ****! also my insurance company will only cover a rental for the amount of time the field adjuster estimated the repairs will take (12 days), and so there might be a big gap between when my car is actually available after repair and when i get my settlement(which may take 30-60 days). since i cannot afford to pay for the repairs(or keep a rental car) until i have the full settlement, i may be going car-less for a while. i still have another week of the rental (which my insurance co. covers), though, so i will see where things stand at the end of next week. i am just on overload from all this, and being sore all over isn't helping matters much. ah well! the good news is i have been really productive with de-cluttering the last couple of days, and that has felt good. i still have a bit more to go, but now i really can see the light at the end of the tunnel. it was gorgeous out the past couple of days! things are due to heat up a bit for the next couple of days, but just back to normal temps for this neck of the woods. well, on to the rest of my day. hope it's a good one for everyone. :) take care, all. |
Hello all!
Sorry to be gone so long but here too, non stop! WSW! I am so glad you weren't hurt in the car accident! And you're right, it is scary out there. I have started pulling over and letting people go around me when they act suspect. ESPECIALLY when they ride too close to the Royal Carriage!! Anagram, Happy Belated! Katrinabegood, you are a marvel to be planning gardening in the middle of the night... My hat's off to you. Woodnymph.... Yes, why do we want to come off the low glycemic? Its a conspiracy! Ceara-- oh my.....thats a lot of puppies!! Casmc.... we can do this!!! I flew to FL and back last weekend to keep my Dad company as my Mom was away. Goes to prove that telephone and email are fine but what you see with your own eyes is an entirely different matter. We spent most of the time just shooting the breeze, looking at pieces of tv shows, more talking and doing things like going to church and having a Sat night supper out. I think both my Dad and I realized that "not wanting to be a bother" and "Not wanting to offend" are not the worst things that can happen. Especially when both could be interperted as "not caring or not interested"..... I would've never wondered if I could be making my Dad feel like I thought he couldn't manage alone if I had known even 1/2 how much he was glad for my company. I know that's not grammatically correct but how many times do we think " I don't want to offend by asking if someone would like some help" and then find out later, that just being there was most wanted. And believe it or not, my royals, this has giving me new motivation. I don't feel obsessed but I have become motivated. Let's hope I can find the motivation tomorrow too! Anyone for tea? |
thanks, kaylets, me too! i have a doc appointment tomorrow morning with my internist because she wants to check me out just to make sure there is nothing more than the normal bruising and soreness, so i gave in and said i'd go. i definitely still have my rental car 'til the end of next week, so i can't use not having transportation as an excuse not to go. it was nice that you went to stay with your dad to keep him company last weekend. i'm sure that meant a lot to him. you are so right that most often what is called for is often "just being there."
i was very proud of myself for finishing up a huge project of organizing and de-cluttering a nook in my living room. i had been working on it little by little for a very long time, and had begun to wonder if i was ever going to hit bottom with it. i did finish it completely by the end of last evening! space is at a premium in my tiny condo, and everything really has to be essential, or else it is in the way. i went through a lot of old papers and other stuff, and weeded out and organized it, and it felt great! i definitely earned a gold star for that one. i also stayed op yesterday, and exercised. i thought surely the scale would have moved downward this morning as a reward, but alas, no, it is still the same. there just better be an awfully big weight loss after this insufferably long plateau i have been on. today, i am trying to take it easy, which i know i really need to do, but something i am not too good at. ah well, it's a process---. :) hope everyone has a good afternoon. |
Hello again!
wsw! I'm glad you're going to see the internist! Might was well rule things out and know everything is ok. As for gold stars, I think you deserve 5 or 6.... Decluttering, especially paper clutter, especially in little corner nooks is the hardest for me. I seem to only be motivated when I can see instant results...( hmmm, do I notice a theme ?)..... In fact, I made a big pile of trash at the curb and was very motivated as 2 armchairs are out there.... I even trimmed some branches and weeds to fill a few trash bags.... But then about 3 I started crashing! by 5 pm, it felt like 9 pm..... I managed to get a few things more done but today I wonder if I overdid it! We'll see what the trash company thinks! *************** Thought of the day : " You are rewarding a teacher poorly if you remain always a pupil." - Friedrich Nietzsche. Question of the day : "If you had to choose : Dishwasher or Clothes Dryer?" *************** Here we go Monday, here we go! Lets do this! |
