Have we started a new thread and I'm the only one that hasn't found the breadcrumbs?

Fly-by  I'm just sprinting through here. Came in to drop off MIL to visit with SIL for a few days. My sister and her daughter, my DGS and mum are at the cottage and anther sister and niece expected so I'd best just pack up the few little items I want to take and hit the road again. Wandered a little off the straight and narrow the last couple of days but will clamber back onto the wagon and not do too much damage meanwhile.
I took the moms on a tour of the north shore yesterday. Stopped at Dalvay beach -- the water was incredible, big surf. I love the ocean! I'm going to make a point of getting to the main beaches as much as I can for the duration of my holiday. Lots of :queen:s on walkabout... I'll try to get back in again but dial-up connection is not reliable. Love to all! |
haven't been feeling too well lately, but starting to feel a bit better now. antibiotic for bronchitis seems to be kicking in. punkin, so sorry to hear about your kitty! glad your recent trip to visit your folks was a good one, kaylets. to everyone on holiday trips, hope they are as pleasant as can be. well, thinking of you all. take care.

Hope you feel better soon, wsw - gotta be ready to enjoy the fall weather coming up. Had a good day yesterday - starting to feel better too with slight increase in thyroid med. Plus getting more rest trying to shake mono effects. Getting there.

Hi all! I'm back! Only put on 2 pounds..one of which is gone...which is amazing...the low amount I mean. I was eating and drinking booze more, but I was also doing a lot of gardening and walking up there. Guess they almost balanced out! So back on the wagon with my butt firmly planted for the following 21 day goals.
Tally: No food after 8 pm, *(will strive for 7 but you know how that can be). Vitamin * Walk the road 15x in the 21 days. 2 drinks/week max. Onto day 2! Anagram, glad to hear the meds are kicking in. Geesh...mono? That stuff can knock you out! Arabella...have a great time at the cottage....I did. Take time for you. Punkin, sorry to hear about your kitty :grouphug:. They do know what they know though! Glad your visit with Beany went well... Wsw hope you get over the respiratory thingy....summer "colds" are the worst! Firefly...good to see you. A maintain in the long run and 1  gone since you've visited here...is a wonderful thing! Sounds like you had a good time in Hawaii! Clutha? You're doing great! Kaylets...I too go back to work today...yay. Kinda like the non-work status. Can only see a few posts from here, so I can't remember who else I've missed....meno-mind. to all....especially all the MIA's... Eydie? Wildfire? how're you doin? The gardens look very good here...all the new plants appear to be thriving. I need to get out and water at the barn though...I'm sure the tomatoes need a drink! I don't start until later today, so I will be able to get a few things done around the house....so gotta boogey! |
Morning all,
WSW, I'm sorry you found a bug. I hope you're feeling better soon. Welcome home Ceara, I found a couple pounds this week too. Ick! Well, it's been an eventful week. Threw my back out Saturday morning getting ready to attend a local Celtic festival. All I did was reach for my hair dryer. It's getting better, but still touchy so no exercise. THEN, because my life hasn't been drama-filled enough (the Gods are playing games with me, I just know it!) the idiot behind my house decided to torch his place Monday night (long story, rental + alcohol + crazy dude = torched house). My Mom woke me up at 12:30am and told me I had a fire behind my house. I called 911 and figured I'd better get ready to evacuate. So, that's what I did - loaded the car with cats and valuables, some clothes and then started spraying my house, pump house and surrounding vegetation down with water and just watched and waited. Thankfully our awesome, amazing, super hero status fire department got the flames under control, but I was up until 3:30am Tuesday morning and still feeling the effects today (tho I finally slept last night). The fire was about 150-200 yards from the back of my house. Too close. Hoping for a peaceful rest of the week. ****, rest of the YEAR. I think I've had enough trauma, drama, extraordinary events occur to last me a lifetime! I was up 2 pounds this week. No big shock, but assuming I'm safe from any more elderly feline's passing, backs going out, company visiting, crazy neighbors with gasoline and matches, I should be good to go this week! :\ Smooches all, shall return later! Terri |
Green for GO! Onto day 3...gotta go change that siggy!...and that other pesky  is gone. I need to walk.
Tally: No food after 8 pm ** Vitamin ** Walk the road 2 drinks/week Yesterday was quite hectic....didn't get out to the barn to check on the plants...will do today. I work earlier and longer today...so I have a smaller continuous chunk of time. I did get some of the dog combed...will continue today. Arabella....how's the ocean? Have been ruminating...d'you think that the WI was cancelled because of Civic Holiday Monday? It is a stat. Anagram...come back...you're following a fake trail of crumbs through a strange forest somewhere....what out for the evil diet demons out there. They lurk! Punkin! Good to see you on a Wednesday :?: That is quite the neighbour you have/had. Will he move away now? Where's Kat, and Kaylets :?: Must be the time of year...everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off....I know I am. Well gotta fly...Ds has strep throat and I'm not sure if he's going to work or if he fell back asleep...he snores... |
Morning all and happy Friday eve!
Ceara, Goddess willing, the neighbor will be moving away - to jail! Arson is a felony, and I hope they lock his hiney up for a good while. Nothin' else exciting going on 'round here. More construction in the office so more time off the computer and not doing what I should be doing. Looking forward to the weekend. A nice, quiet, worry-free weekend!!!! Terri |
Back from the beyonds...
Hi all, I'm back! I've missed you all and really need to do a LOT of catch up reading. Seems like once vacation was over, life came roaring back with a vengence and I haven't had much time to sit and devote to a good long post.
Thank You to ceara for luring me out of the forest! ;) I really don't have a lot of time right now, if I want to make it to my WW meeting and get off the to the Plays in the Park performance of Cats that I've been waiting to see! BUT...in a nutshell: Vacation was great...the beach house was lovely, well appointed, beachy...only problem was no AC, which really isn't a problem, what with ocean breezes and all, UNLESS YOU HAVE A HEAT WAVE TO RIVAL THE FIRES OF ****! :flame:  :flame: Yowza, did we have some hot days there, made worse by the fact that it seemed to draw these obnoxious beach flies out in droves to torture us. Sprays did not work. These flies apparently LOVE the taste of OFF. There was no sitting on the beach those days. My daughter and I would go straight into the water, which was wonderful, by the way, and just stay there. Apparently the flies don't like the ocean. The heatwave/fly seige lasted about three days, and the rest of the time the weather was perfect, so I shouldn't complain. much In other news, I managed to lose two pounds while I was there, so I'm thrilled about that! Weigh in tonight, can't wait! I haven't read anything yet on the thread. I have that 'all or nothing' problem, so hopefully tonight (after the show) I can park it here with a nice cup of tea and catch up on everyone's exploits! Have a great night all! It's good to be back among friends.... |
Breakfast date with friend this am...and am going to pull some weeds for a half hour before I go. Did make it out to the back last night...geesh. I wish the plants grew as fast as the weeds do! Watered, so that is why I want to weed...I may stand a chance of getting the roots outta the ground this morning!
Another day on the wagon....splinters are doable... to all...gotta go! |
OKAY....GREEN for go...and one of these days I WILL walk...geesh! This last week, I've "lost" the mornings I thought I was free! And today it is raining...maybe tonight after work.
Tally: No food after 8 pm **** Vitamin **** Walk the road 2 drinks/week -**- Short postie....hope all the MIA's are having fun on their vacations.... Sure is quiet in the palace! |
G'mornin' all...
:coffee:
There, that's better....now...where to start? Okay, weigh in was successful, only their scale showed only .6 off, whereas my scale showed a loverly 2lbs off. Nevertheless, it was weight OFF, after a vacation, so I was properly congratulated for my efforts. Those efforts, by the way, need to be swung into some serious action now that vacation is over. I have not exercised since coming home last Saturday. Except for last night, (as part of the day 1 determination) when I went for a walk with my doggy. She loves when I'm determined. Speaking of determination...I'm going to be taking some classes this fall. There is fairly serious concern around here that my hospital might close it's doors. Apparently the governor's attempts to close the casinos (by shutting down state services) didn't really yield much in the way of cash flow, so now he's looking to close 25 hospitals in New Jersey. Ours is one of the smallest in this county, so there is some concern. I figured I'd better acquire a few marketable skills to go along with my experience, which is limited pretty much to what I currently do. I'm actually not dreading losing my job...I haven't been unemployed since I was 16.....a l o n g, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. I have never collected unemployment, but I am willing to learn! Actually, I'm looking at this as a way to change, whatever the outcome may be at work. I'm really not happy there anymore, but have just been too complacent/stagnant/LAZY to do anything about it. I'm excited to be taking classes! Am planning on taking a Medical Billing/Coding class...they say I need to take Medical Terminology I & II first. I'll challenge that and hopefully can start the coding class right away. I'm also going to take a computer literacy class. Never too late to learn something new, right? So, that's what's happening with me. Oh! Did I tell you that my cholesterol went from 235 down to 208? I'm feeling mighty good about that. :carrot: My LDL (bad cholesterol) also went down, as did my hgA1C, which can determine diabetes. So, I'm sticking with this good eatin'! ceara! GREEN FOR GO! I like it...I've been cruising along at YELLOW (cautiously) for a while now, time to put the pedal to the metal and roar through that green light! That said, this is day TWO for me. I intend to finish this block for once and for all! (haven't finished one yet) Here are my goals: *Follow WW flex points *Exercise daily *64 oz water daily Keeping this nice and easy this time around. I would love to sit here for another hour or so to do individual replies, but the sunshine and weeds are calling to me. I know you'll understand. Have a great day all....Go do something that makes you smile! |
um...hello?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
...a lone tumbleweed rolls by... ...crickets... ....Kat sadly began to relate her story to herself, seeing as the thread appeared to be devoid of life....let's listen in: So here I am at work, feeling particularly chipper and cheerful. I will attribute this to the all the endorphins I set free today...gardening for several hours. Motivated by ceara's tales of mulching, I unloaded the big bag of cedar mulch that's been sitting on my patio since May. After, of course, much weeding. Wow that felt good, and looked so pretty when I was done. Anyway...I'm at work, feeling very accomplished, exercised, a wee bit slimmer in my scrub jacket and just, in general, in a very positive frame of mind...feelin' real good about my efforts. I'm putting a patient's chart together, and go to enter the diagnosis into the computer when I see listed as one of the diagnoses: Massive Obesity. Wow, how much could this person possibly weigh, with it described that way, I wondered. HOW MUCH? YOU WANNA KNOW HOW MUCH? I'LL TELL YOU HOW MUCH: ONE POUND MORE THAN MY CURRENT WEIGHT, THAT'S HOW MUCH! hmmph. My endorphins just crashed and burned. |
Hello all....
so sorry to be away so long... don't even know for sure how long its been.... Job got very crazed as another coworker came in at noon on a Thursday and said "tomorrow's my last day".... and the next day, handed me all of her pending projects and off she went. I expected to be told on Monday who I should give the work to... but you guessed it... its still w/ me ... some was just quick filing but most of it needs research and phone calls. Which didn't bode well for a filing backlog I had in a drawer. Finally, one day in a traffic jam, an idea on how to resolve much of my backlog dawned on me. So I brought it all home and spent an evening sorting and alphabetizing and then nearly all of day creating spreadsheets. Amazing how fast things come together when you are working on them at home w/o interruptions. I got up a few times from the computer to move laundry around and even took a 2 hr phone call but for the most part, I spent a good 6 hrs today. Mind you, this was a backlog which is why it took so long. I now am nearly done which is a great feeling and am now much, much more comfortable w/ the systems needed to create the reports. In fact, I figued out 2 or 3 alternate reports which seemed to be simpler to read and use. Which goes to show me, its not always that we don't learn things well, its how much time we can actually practice what we've learned. Meanwhile, in the midst of the drama of the office......which is really mostly my reaction to two people in less than a month walking out w/ o more than a couple days notice and...... no one to replace them...... I have been off the wagon, in the ditch, and if truth be told.... RELISHING IT..... Found the chocolate in the director's office.....hopefully, the office will be occupied the next few days as I detox..... DH had a laser procedure on the back wall of his retina in an effort to stop bleeding. The procedure was painless, he was able to drive himself home w/ dark glasses as only one eye was dilated. It will be aprx 2-3 mos before the eye doctor can tell if the procedure was a success. I was at home w/ the a/c repairman as they replaced the compressor to our heat pump/a/c system. I am awaiting the bill. We were told the compressor itself cost $900..... I can't wait to see what the labor for 2.5 hrs will be. Ah well. We had no choice as the heat and a/c are interconnected. Goes to show you... the minute you have a few $$ ahead..... Sorry to hear that you really do have mono Anagram.... How long is your recovery? I remember it used to be almost 3 mos back in the mists of time.... And WSW, sorry to hear about your bronchitis.... I know someone else who just was diagnosed w/ strepp throat.... seems like we're all trying to do too much! so.... how is everyone?  |
Hello Queenlies
We had quite a shock over the weekend. On Saturday morning, Douglas' sister-in-law called from Toledo to say that his younger brother had had a fatal heart attack. They'd just come home from a camping trip and she slept in that morning. When she woke, she thought Keith had gotten up but then, when she was making the bed thought the sheets were caught on something and, when she investigated what it was that was holding the bedding down, found him on the floor on his side of the bed. Gone. She said he was smiling. I can't imagine what this is like for Mimi --he really was her life. I've never known a more devoted couple. Keith was the one member of his family that Douglas hadn't been actively worried about. Just goes to show you, it's often not the things you expect -- life really likes to blindside you. His 91-year-old mother is still motoring on. Cancer all through her lungs and on her brain, just lost a son, and still... I guess it's her ability to keep going that's ... kept her going, all these years. I'm at the cottage this week too, working part-time. Still, since MIL's gone back it's already more relaxing than last week. Next year if I manage to rent a cottage and if MIL is still around I'm going to tell Douglas that he's not to invite his mother on my vacation in advance of making arrangements. Punkin, I know those weird kind of muscle strains very well. I think they've got to be virus-related or something. Just too weird -- I know I've reached for a kleenex and had my back go out. Hope you're better soon! Kaylets, yup, amazing what we can do without the distractions, huh. I know if I ever summon the courage to close out e-mail and not check it for a couple of hours at a time my productivity will go way up. You know, if you answer it they just respond and you never get ahead. Anagram, hope you're getting some strength back. I'm so glad that you got to the bottom of it anyway. WSW, hope the bug leaves you! Katrinabgood, you are inspirational! Wow, a loss on vacation -- you're my hero. :encore: As for that patient -- well! I'm sure they must be shorter than you and have more fat/less muscle  In any case, you are cruisin' and on your way! I had not a great week, diet-wise, last week. Woke up feeling more ready to reengage in the battle this morning. K, must do some work. Love to all... |
