Good Afternoon, Flowers! For once I didn't have to stay for the in-service this afternoon. I did stay an extra hour and a half to make copies and clean off the top of my desk. I had planned to do that yesterday, but the bomb threat brought a screeching halt to my plans. We are going to a surprise 60th get together later this afternoon/tonight. . .will be another 2 hour drive but that's ok. The excitement for today was that last night around 11, there was an explosion at one of the teacher's "on-the-lake" house. Her husband had just gotten home so they don't know if the car had anything to do with it or not, but it took out the garage, cars, and one end of their house. Fortunately they were not hurt.

"Gma" -- I don't think anyone who is convicted of child or domestic rape/abuse should be allowed to work in the public eye. Just my opinion though. I think there is much more of that than anyone realizes. We had a news anchor charged with domestic abuse and found guilty; he was moved from the 6pm slot to the 6am news. Big deal! He is now divorced, but I just can't help but think of the charges whenever I see him on TV. I want to put a valance over my vertical blinds which are extra long over the french doors. I don't know if I can't special order the length or maybe have to piece to separate ones together. I don't like the head rail that is there and after 10 years have decided to do something else. I wish I would have stuck to my original plan and put in a sliding door. Several years ago we had a couple of bomb threats called in over the phone. Both times we had to walk to the end of the football field and get on buses to go to the middle school. Now we don't have enough buses to transport everyone, nor is there enough room at the middle school for all of us. I guess I wasn't too worried yesterday because the DUMB kid was bragging to another IA and he would have blown up right along with the rest of us. Besides that, he isn't smart enough to make a bomb. But we had to evacuate just to be safe. This same kid was caught with marijuana last semester and should have been sent away then.

I need to get my laundry started. Tomorrow is my day to work in the hospital gift shop and on Sunday, the kids and grandkids will be here to celebrate Amanda's birthday. Bob and Jason plan to go and open the cabin for the summer.

Have a great "rest of the day" and a nice weekend.

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning ladies! We had a great time at the ballgame last night. It turned out to be a nice night, not hot and not too cool. Jack had on a Cub's cap and an Indiana U jacket and the guy behind us who came in late started talking to us becaue he was from East Chicago, Indiana. It was nice to meet some "home folks." I wonder what today's game will bring. We have soccer first, then have to go right to the baseball game.

Jean: Your Iowa Cubs did you proud, we won 6-0. Jack and I were in the huge minority, but we yelled anyway! Gosh, I saw how early you posted and was really surprised. Guess it was not having to stay for all the gobbledy gook after school that got you home early! Gosh, that is freaky about the teacher's home. Wonder if it was a gas leak or something.

I bought Jack an early Father's Day present. He wanted this baseball wall thing that looks like a scoreboard and tells the time, temperature and something else like the scores. He mentioned something about liking it so I went and got it for him for Father's Day. I told him no more comments about my handbag purchases as the thing cost $100! They had the greatest band just inside the ballpark playing all these 60's numbers. It was a black group so they did mostly like Temptation stuff, Sam Cooke, etc, but boy were they good. I stood around and listened while Jack was in the souvenir shop gawking.

I guess I better go and try and sleep for a couple more hours. I woke up with stomach cramps, but I think it was gas from some junk at the ballpark as my body is not used to the stuff again.

Have a great weekend ladies!
