It's Christmas Eve, and the kids are not the only ones excited in my house! We have two family functions to get through today, they should be fun though.
|
It's around noon. I am here to tell the truth. I blew my other two challenges yesterday. Hmm interesting thing though I found that it's harderst to keep up with water and dinner during the weekend. I almost have to not go see friends if I want it done properly. It's hard, though. I think my next start approach will be to not waste days during the week no matter what happends. This would mean I need to have something ready so that in the case I am late off work I can eat it right at work, rather than cooking it home.
I am planning to restart the challenges tomorrow or on Monday, but I know 31st will be the toughtest day to manage. Happy Holidays. |
Hi Folks! Wow, Note to self: do not wait a few days before checking posts on 21 day challenge thread! Boyo I thought I would never catch up. I just want to check in quickly and say I am still here and rooting for everyone who is still on the wagon! I am restarting challenges after the holidays as there is just too much going on here and keeping myself from going completely insane is enough of a challenge during the holiday season! :) HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!! We are doing family gift exchange tomorrow and then various other forms of family togetherness, so I may not get to post again for a few days, but I am still here in spirit!!
Keep on Truckin! Erin :carrot: |
At last, another little smilie for a completed challenge. :carrot: :carrot: I survived Xmas eve with the dreaded SM - and without wine. To be honest, there's a very slight chance I've lost track of a day somewhere and am really only on Day 20 today, BUT I'm taking the credit anyway, since I did actually get to Day 22 no wine last time when I thought I couldn't split my challenge. (It's all too complicated, but I'm pretty sure I had Red's approval on this one.)
The chocolate/sweets/junk food situation has, however, been downright embarassing. :p So I think I'll either be back to challenges on Tuesday or else after the last party of the year on the 28th (29th?). There'll be the fruit fast with Apple, maybe a Gazelle challenge with Curly?, a return to spinning... maybe I'll even start doing the little 20-min Strong Women Stay Slim (?) weight workout. Whoa Nellie! Is Carla setting herself up for failure again or is she setting herself up for failure! No, I won't try to do it all at once. But it's really time to get started exercising again. Right now I'm tucked into my slightly seedy little hotel bed, missing my cats and winding down from a long day. The weather has been very warm - above freezing - so the drive down here was good, easy and fast. The Weather Channel is threatening rain/snow. I just hope it'll hold off until I get home on Monday, I hate driving in winter. The wicked SM situation has been better than expected. In fact, I've noticed that the more I dread it and talk about the impending horror, the easier it all is in reality. She even remarked on my weight loss, so all is forgiven. It'll never be a fun or relaxing experience, but all I need to do is put on my big girl panties and stop whining, and it's not so bad. Enough on that. Reading back a little, I see a few blown challenges reported - and some suspicious silences. No matter, tomorrow is another day, and Monday is an even better day for starting anew. It doesn't hurt to "cheat" or fall off the wagon from time to time. The important part is to NOT let that cheating or falling become a habit. (Lecture to self...) Red, does it bother you working on Christmas Day? I'm not sentimental about it myself, and would probably spend the day cleaning or something if I were at home. I haven't mentioned it, but :bravo: for staying away from boozy parties with people you don't really care for. Will you be drummed out of the journalists' union for passing up free beer? :lol3: Here's a stupid question for you: I know you do dressage. Is what you do sort of like the Lippanzer horses? I know yours isn't a stallion, isn't white, and doesn't do line dancing, but are the moves similar? I'm trying to get a mental image. Finally, I'd like to wish a very, very merry Christmas and/or Hannukah to you all: Red, Shad, Curly, Marble, Apple, Fish, Derry, ees, CBETA, Sushi, Stage, ID, Chai, Mez (if you're lurking out there, you're in our hearts and thoughts) - and anyone I've forgotten :o I'm very grateful to my entire cyber-family for their support, patience, entertainment, and affection. My life is richer for knowing you. :grouphug: Enough sentimentality! Some one call the schmaltz police! Enjoy tomorrow, and here's hoping Santa is kind to you.    |

8 and 8.....
Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! whatever your religious affiliations. I REALLY don't understand the hubbub about not being able to wish people a Merry Christmas! If the Japanese and Thai and Cambodians can do it, then anyone can. It's about so much MORE than the birth of Christ, and heck, even if it wasn't, I think we can all take part in other people's holidays!!
Ok, I'm back from the racetrack and two beers with some acquaintances. It was a good race, though the horse I (and about 160,000 people at the track today) wanted to win didn't. Still, a French jockey riding here won and I was able to wish him Merry Christmas, saying "that certainly was a great Christmas present." Then I met up with some university prof and he invited me out for a few beers. Everyone just laughs when I say, "Merry Christmas" because it's not on Japanese minds at all...though there are Christmas decorations up and all. Anyhow, I am taking another pause on the crunches just because I was super busy today and forgot to do them before I left for the track and I don't feel like doing them now. The caffeine was okay, so my challenges are together again. 8 and 8 now, I'm pretty sure. Ok, gotta get some shuteye. Up to ride super early tomorrow, then for the racing writers semiannual meeting and yearend party tomorrow. To all, a good night! chai, curly, carla, CB thanks for the wishes. Ditto carla's little schmaltz there! :grouphug: And, no, carla, I don't mind working at all. I prefer it. I DO like to do something special, something for me, and a big yearend finale race like the one today is perfect. I wish it was on Christmas Day every year. I would not have liked to sit in the office and do a shift there though. No, I don't mind "working" but it's gotta be a bit special in some way. And no, the union people are overjoyed that I was not soaking up their beer, leaving all the more for them. And yes, Lippizaners like the ones in the Vienna Spanish Riding School are doing dressage, and very high-level movements. My girl and I are no where near there, but yes, we are in the same stratosphere. I will try to find you a video clip that shows what we aim for. At our level, it's more just good riding, on the bit. Dressage is really about schooling the horse, conditioning its muscles, being in harmony and in unison, from the basics on up. The basics are everything really. The fancy moves all build on that. To everyone who has made this thread such a hopping success, a big THANK YOU!! I hope to see you all back in the swing of things, those of you who fell out, and continued success and persistence to all you who are still cruising along successfully! Oh, and carla, I think you are saying that you completed a challenge, right!!?!?! Well, congratulations!! :bravo: :cp: :woo: :encore: :woo: :cp: Well done!!! |

No Desserts/Treats Day 9 *PAUSE*
I only have one more pause day left for this challenge! |
Howdy ya'll
Yesterday marked the 21st day of my no soda challenge! :carrot: :cb: :dancer: :woo: :cheer: :carrot: :cb: :dancer: :woo: :cheer: :carrot: :cb: :dancer: :woo: :cheer: :carrot: :cb: :dancer: :woo: :cheer: Christmas Eve and Christmas day were fairly challenging. We had Christmas Eve dinner at my house w/family and of course everyone was drinking soda. But not me :nono: I was drinking unsweetened tea. Then on Christmas Day we went to someone elses house and I took a gatorade because I knew that there would only be soda to drink. :D Well at least one good thing has come out of this challenge (besides the obvious me drinking no sodas and losing a few pounds) my oldest daughter stopped drinking sodas also. :o Well I can't decide what to do for my new challenge. I have a couple of ideas, I kind of want to do 2 at the same time but I don't want to over do it. I'll let you know in a couple of days what I decide to do. I definitaly want to keep my no soda challenge going forever. Believe me it is a challenge. Tina |
Tina- Congratulations on completing your No Soda challenge.:carrot:
I think I may need to repeat my No Soda challenge! It is definetly a hard one though! |
Hello Everyone!! Hope y'all had a Merry Christmas! Mine was splendid! I even made it Xmas Eve on 1800 Calories! Paused on Christmas day though :) Paused both days on my tummy routine - yikes! No more pauses left for that one!
Congratulations to Swimming, Carla and everyone else who completed their challenges!!! Day 8/21 - under 1800 Day5/21 - Abs That's where I am now :) Ees |
:cheer: Tina!! way to go!
Carla: lol i was watchin dr phil today and decided to pull old zellie out i got in 15 min of zellin.. that was enuff cuz i worked out for 1.5 hrs this morning.. |
Swimming! I must say, your challenge went SWIMMINGLY!!! And at Christmas to boot!
:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Curly, Phil is on in 15 min here. I may turn him on (but don't tell Robin! )although I've already poured and consumed a glass of nice crisp instant white relief, so Zelling may be counterindicated. Then again, it would be a shame to waste your good example... I'm home from the wicked SM's house, starting recovery. It may take a couple of days before I remember I'm not ALWAYS wrong about EVERYTHING. Grrrr.... I did try to :tape:, but indulged in one or two tiny :tantrum: :tantrum: And now I'm trying not to :bomb: since the whole thing makes me so  Later tonight I'll remember I'm a grownup (in fact a rather old grownup), not a toddler, and I'll calm down. We need a deep-breathing, "ohm" smilie to insert here. |
Day 9 done on both...
Good morning, all. Already the 27th here. I notched another day on both challenges yesterday, so it's Day 9 done for both caffeine and crunches! :dancer:
carla -- Good luck on your recovery. The best antidote is to get back doing what YOU know will make you feel better, not instantly, but in the long run, right? curly -- what a workout! Great going! :cp: And way to go on your challenge. I can't believe you're almost done with YET another one! Just two more days. You're amazing! ees -- Wow! Keeping the challenge going over Christmas, with a well-planned pause day. Excellent work. You can do that abs thing. Just be sure to get them done as soon as possible in the day. I have one more pause day on mine. Almost took it last night, but then didn't because I knew I was just being lazy and didn't want to risk using up my last day either. Go for it! swimming -- :bravo: You did it! :cp: :encore: :woo: :cp: :woo: Three cheers!! And what fantastic planning that was to get you over some rough spots. That is real challenge spirit. I am impressed! :cp: stage -- You can do it too! Just plan and think how much you want to notch another completed challenge! |
