Oops, Curly, I think I'm the guilty party. I misread your post and thought "birthday" where you had clearly written "Christmas" party. Even dumber, since I'm a Libra too and we had this conversation back in October.
Stage, you're not only a Capricorn, if I'm not mistaken (again), you're a victorious Capricorn on the last day of your chocolate challenge? :woo::woo::woo: |
hey thats ok... i can go for a slice of cyber cake anytime!!... my bf's birthday is jan 5th so he is a capricorn(work aholics)
|
Day 6 completed! Mmmmmmmm there were some yummy looking no bake cookies, but then I'd have to take a pause day, so I passed them up. Thank goodness for this thread! Today is day 7.
|
Good Morning! Yes I'm on my last day of my No Chocolate challenge! Tomorrow I think I'm going to have one of my *food porn to follow, do not read if you will be tempted *
*food porn*chocolate p.butter balls*food porn* that I stashed for breakfast! |
Hmmm in looking up astrology stuff I've found that I'm suppose to be compatible with Taurus and Virgo. My DH is a Pisces, do you think this is a problem? *tongue a little in cheek*

widening the gap...
Good morning, all. Just figured out where I was on my challenges. Yesterday I took another pause day, intentionally, with the caffeine, so that leaves me one left. Was feeling too tired and wanted a lift. So today, at the start of the day, I stand at Day 5 done for caffeine, Day 7 done for crunches. I have yet to take a pause day for the crunches! I just may be able to get to the gym tonight. I learned we have another ridiculously early deadline today, and I will leave the place right after. No one to distract me out drinking as they'll all surely be dreadfully hungover from last night's party. Maybe I can get a bit of a workout in after all! We'll see.
Good luck on all your challenges. :sunny: |
Here I am...
Haven't done any running over the last 2 days. I was dog tired after work on Wednesday, but no idea what the reason was yesterday... so I'm either on Day 4 still, or will be starting over... Don't want to be starting over! I'll have a look at my calendar, to see if there are any obstacles looming in the near future, if not, then I'll just continue. |
Morning all,
Since my challenges are down the drain, and are not going to be resurrected until I get back from Adelaide, I thought I would just pop in and see what you have all been up to. Busy, busy I see. It's been a hectic week so I haven't posted regularly. I guess everyone is feeling the same way - I'm so over the 'festive season' and the heat and the crowds. I'm now waiting for next week when I can get some good food back in the house and start eating properly again. Our weather is predicted to be hot and sunny for Christmas Day 37C (104F) and 36C and storming for Boxing Day. What fun. I should check out Adelaides weather since that is where I will be for the next few days. It can get stinking hot down there too. Fish - I do like that menu for your Christmas dinner. I think I might like to try the Champagne soup myself. Maybe at my New years bbq. Soup at a bbq? Well why not. It will no doubt be hot AGAIN. And I see your birthday is the same day as my DS2. Nice people Capricorns. I get on well with them since I am Taurus - another earth sign. Curly - you are dead right about Capricornians being workaholics. My DS2 is 4th January, holds down 2 jobs, gets something like 4 or 5 hours sleep per night six nights a week. Has a GF and an active social life - when he is not asleep. For relaxation he is renovating his house and garden. Huh??? Red, did I gather right that you did not party on last night? No bad headaches or anything. If that is the case, well done. Good luck on making the gym today. You can do it. Don't have a great deal of time this morning so I won't reply individually to all. Sorry. You all seem to be doing well on the challenges. So  to stage, curly, ID, Phys, CBETA, ees, Carla, Marble, Mez (if you are lurking), Apple and huge apologies to those I haven't mentioned I probably won't get near a computer for a couple of days from tomorrow (Saturday) so I'll take this opportunity to wish you all the best for a grand and happy Christmas, be it with loved ones, on the bowling alley, in the snow or cruisin' along or if you happen to be in Japan, working. I hope that you all have a wonderful, wonderful day. The good lord willing and the rivers don't rise (huh! with this heat one can only wish!). |
clear-headed...
Sushi -- Good to see you back. Hope you're still rolling along on the challenge. Do you still have pause days, or is that why you're looking for obstacles, to see if you would rather just start over? Perhaps you could expand your definition of "running" to include some other exercise that would get your heartrate up (such as stair climbing) that you could do during the day when you're busy. I know when the exercise is limited to machines and other apparatuses it makes it harder to do when you get busy.
Shad -- Glad you could pop in. Are you in Adelaide now? Guy at work is from there. I think you're perhaps the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, so the "heat" of the holiday season is not a factor for the rest of us. Wow. Looks like you've got really hot days in store for you! Sending you cool thoughts..... I don't even have the holiday season to worry about. Sure, O-shogatsu is busy here for the Japanese but not me. I'll be at work on New Year's Eve and the second. And we don't even get any extra pay. I really can't think of it because it ticks me off too much. Which is one of the reasons I, yes, did NOT go to the party last night. It's really the last place I want to be when I'm trying to have a good time. There is nothing anymore to chat and be optimistic and cheery about at that office and I'm not stupid enough to go chugging down alcohol just because it's free. I think I may have hit a little mental breakthrough! It's too soon to say and I realize I am going to have to keep reminding myself, but yesterday, something just seemed to click with me. I just starting thinking, what am I waiting for? Why do I keep putting off the weight loss? I know HOW to do it. What am I waiting for? I think it was a combination of really riding my horse and seeing results! (she'll respond to what I do but no more, which means I have to be extremely proactive) and saying no to things like office parties, places I don't really want to be, doing things I don't really want to be doing...it was like, heh, yeah, I don't like the excess fat on me. What am I doing with it? Get it off! Instead of going out in search of sweets and junk, I had a sweet potato, went to bed hungry after doing my crunches but thought, well, this is what it takes. DO what it takes! Let's hope I can continue this feeling. It feels so neat, so resolved, so sensible! Thanks for the pat on the back on the non-drinking and the word of encouragement for the gym tonight. I think I should be able to go. Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas too! I will be at the racetrack, but not putting any bets down, just hoping for a good race. Take care! |
Now I am still in Brisbane, just wishing away the hours till tomorrows flight.

ummm carla will our next challenge involve Gazelles??? |
Hey Everyone!
Day4/21 - Abs - the first 10 crunches I thought, "hey this getting easier!" but closer to the end I did NOT feel that way at all!! :p Day 6/21 - under 1800 Joy - You really have travelled a lot!! I was checking out all of the places you have been... England, Japan, New Zealand (but you are from New Zealand, right?), Scotland, Chicago... that's so cool!! I love to travel but get to do it as much as I would like! Only one more day Stage!!! You can do it!!! :cheer: :woo: Happy Birthday Marble!! :woo: Carla - So why do people say, "tongue and cheek"? Now I understand what it is, thanks! What does the phrase mean? :p I used to obsess over figuring out phrases like that... Like "with bells on" (people used to say that back when they travelled by horse and carriage... so if the carriage would be wearing bells, it would announce their arrival) and "worth your while" (that should be obvious, but I always thought it was "worth your wild" so that one took me a while). CBETA - Hey! What are the Russian New Year's traditions for Christmas and New Years? Red - I have a question for you about your profession! What kinds of things to you write about in your racing articles? And... I still don't get why that hotel wouldn't feed you if that was a PR visit! Sheesh! Good night all!! Hopefully I will get to write tomorrow... otherwise I probably won't come by until Monday - unless I need some motivation to stick to my challenges over the weekend! Ees |
ees -- It's "tongue IN cheek" Tongue AND cheek is, I think, involved in some of the more advanced positions of the Kama Sutra or at some of the sleazier strip clubs ... :lol3:
I write about the race in the racing articles! Like any sporting event, how it went, how the race unfolded, the finising positions, the comments from connections. Others stories can be news items or interviews with top people in the industry... here's a sample story from The Bloodhorse (an American racing magazine that I write for). This is not my story but it is similar to ones I do. http://handicapping.bloodhorse.com/i...ue%26header=bh Yeah, as for the ski resort thing, reports for PR are often like that. They must figure the money they spent for the ad is all they need to do, but like Shad said, how can I get a feel for the place if I don't feel it myself. Just walking around being told what is done is stupid. In all fairness, I did get one meal the night I arrived, but the next day was the tiring day and nothing then. And then, after four hours, it was like, "ok, we're done talking to you...bye!" It was only because I said, "can you take me to the station" that it seemed to occur to them. I could have said, "Feed me!" and "Give me one of those hot-oil massages and a facial" but I doubt they would have obliged. Besides, I had a long trip home and just wanted to get out. I figure I'm not going to be able to go into any detail anyhow....oh well. Japanese are not good at dealing with the media, from what I've seen, and I've seen a lot. They don't seem to know what speaks to readers, mostly because the writing here is not very good and you don't get nice PR pieces, they all come across as blatant ads. |
Day 20 SWN and I have only an hour and a half left of today to make it 21! Wouldn't it be terrible to mess up on day 21. As soon as I am done posting I will do my sit ups and weights. (Don't get distracted, DON'T GET DISTRACTED)
Red, I hope your JUST DO IT feeling sticks with you for as long as it takes. I'm waiting for that lightning bolt myself.... Went shopping for myself yesterday, I desperately needed new pants after wearing out the knees in one pair and spliting the seam of another...:o I hate spending money on clothes I fully intend to shrink out of, but it's not happening. Pants shopping has to be the #1 most depressing shopping activity for me.:p I had terrible negative self esteem last night...I weighed myself with clothes on earlier todayand the news was not good...:kickcan: But it will all turn around! I must end on a positive note! Tomorrow is anither day! And I'm about to finish a challenge! :encore: See you all tomorrow!! |
