DTimpma, have you been following the van cliburn competition live on the web, by any chance?

Kaylets 06-05-2005 08:59 AM

hello all....

Yesterday went completely awry when my cell phone landed in the toiliet.... Don't ask! Bottom line, water damage is NOT covered w/out the extended insurance.... luckily I had the previous phone w/me which the phone service still uses...
The damaged phone was reactivated and the total time w/o phone service was probably less than 2 hrs but it was nervewracking.....

Was unable to get back in the rhythm of the day -funny the hair cut discussion continues as I wound up there myself yesterday but it was so busy I wound up waiting 4X longer than the cut itself took....

By that time, Dh was home from work and we did a few things but our timing at the library was off and the movies we borrowed turned out to be either, stopped after 10 minutes as we already knew it was a waste of time... or dark and the disturbing... ( ie The Game w/ Michael Douglas and Sean Penn)....Fitting w/ the dark stormy day.....

Today is much sunnier but DH is already icing his bad shoulder and is short tempered. I am wondering what chores I can complete b/4 he's ready to go out to the vegetable store...
There is lots and lots to do... especially since I am hoping to bring a car load of things to my sister's yard sale....

One of the first steps would be to empty the car....

hmmmm....

Eydie-- How is your Dad??

To all...

Thanks for listening yesterday!

KETTLE IS ON!

Amarantha2 06-05-2005 10:58 AM

Holy cow (apologies to our neighbors in the next pasture  ), Kaylets! That IS a terrible way to start the day.

Hope ya have a great finish to it, though.

I lost .2 of a pound and am happy w' that! :)

anagram 06-05-2005 12:21 PM

Hi there, Royals. Taking a short break from medical duty, suhs!

Ceara, glad you're doing well. Going home will be an adjustment.

Congrats in loss, Empress. Eydie, I too am in the gain column - not happy, not resolved to restart yet. But also not beating meself up because circumstances be not the best yet. Brrrr! I do report the damage is nowhere near what it would have been before I resolved to become COURTLY.

Things awry in the dh dept. I'm sure good docs will eventually get it straightened out, etc., etc. and there is naught to do but put that famous one step in front of the other, breathe deeply, etc. Today I am missing dance recitals of two famous little princesses and I have a sore spot in my heart re that too. But in the scheme of things....

Kaylets, hope thee gets out from under the stormcloud. Yesterday was just sort of a horrible day, 'tweren't it?

But today's bright here too and while I'm not fond of hot weather, I think it will cheer up many including dh. Back to reading the paper on the Patio of Peace and Tranquillity (at least if all the mowers would stop).

Re haircut QOD - at least, I THINK it was my first haircut except for when Mom trimmed bits & pieces herself. I think it was about the beginning or end of first grade - prior to that my hair was long, thick and curly - Mom did it usually in the Shirley Temple fashion. It was sort of a "pride & joy" thing to her. We were living w/my paternal grandmother (Dad away because of war). I don't know if it was in the fall or spring but weather was warm and I think I'll go with fall but I know I started school w/long hair. Grandma took me to beauty shop w/her and while there decided it was time I had a haircut (without consulting my mother) because my mother had too much else to do (expecting her fourth child) without bothering with my long curls. Beautician got carried away - did a short bob. Mom REALLY UPSET. Hair eventually grew back, less curly. No more long curl style. Long until I reached 12/or 13 and decided myself I wanted it short, curled up again somewhat. Been short ever since. Not curly anymore, wavy maybe, bushy sometimes. If my children's paternal grandmother had done same, I'd have really been ballistic.

Amarantha2 06-05-2005 07:53 PM

That's a sweet yet funny story, Anagram. Actually I think it was rather cool, if misguided, of your grandma to be concerned with takin' the burden off of her DIL.

I used to hear stories all the time about my mom's experiences with dad's family; they didn't like her, I think. Thought she had ruined their son by marryin' him!!!

I posted in the journal about another setback in my mental recovering re the driving life ... or rather I didn't post about it exactly as it's too stupid. This is gonna go on for awhile, I guess. But anyhow posted about my new "car doll" (don't ask, it's also a stupid thing in my life which I shared with Eydie but haven't posted about) ... a friend secretly (anonymously, but I know) snuck a new one in my car this a.m. ... her name is Maisie Tamara Ariana.

So I didn't do much work today ... went shopping, read books, ate too much (but legal food only). Tomorrow is deadline so must shape up or ship out ... I REALLY wanna ship out!

frogger 06-06-2005 02:23 PM

Good-day all!!

Been calling around trying to get someone to pick up a bunch of stuff that we want to donate. How come no one wants to come pick it up???? This is my frustration today. Everyone wants the items, but no one wants to come and haul them away. We are talking furniture, a big freezer, a grill etc. I don't have a truck for this or I would gladly haul it to them.
And no, even with giving all of this stuff away, our house will still be full o'junk. I'm just trying to weed out the not needed and neglected. Maybe someone else could get use of stuff that just sitting here in my way. I'm nesting for some reason and NO we're not expecting tadpole number 2. (I already checked and I just got my visitor yesterday, so no babies.

I have been awefully tired lately. I've got the ideas but no drive; very sleepy. I think my bloodpressure is low. I've had extremely good blood pressure all my life, even while preggo. It did dip down a bit then, so maybe once again I need to excersise or something before I become a blob on the couch....

OH GUESS WHAT!!! Sydney said MaMa for the first time yesterday!! She's been saying DaDa and GeeGee (that is what she calls my mom). But MaMa came twice yesterday. Once in the store and once at home when she couldn't see me. She has also learned how to sit up from a laying position. Usually, we sit her up, but now she can do it herself. I beamed yesterday!!

Sorry for the me me me post.

aria2000 06-06-2005 03:35 PM

"MaMa!" Oh! How precious, frogger! :bb:

Amarantha2 06-06-2005 05:05 PM

That's a shame you can't get someone to bestir themselves to pick up all the stuff ya wanna donate, Froggie! Have you tried a Boys & Girls Club? They like to get stuff for the kids to use.

Sydney sounds like an extremely intelligent young person to be talkin' already and she's sitting up already? I remember when she was but a gleam in your royal eye! She sounds darling.

Hi, Aria!!!

Here I be postin' when I HAVE to work! Sigh.

On deadline. Must go.

Amarantha2 06-06-2005 07:11 PM

:queen: s, I'm splittin' from 3FC for awhile; I'm finding myself responding to posts that seem to be baiting me ... not on this thread ... and I likely need a life because I just keep doin' it and obviously need some form o' forum therapy! :)

Will be in the land far far away and back here anon ... or sometime!

DTimpma 06-06-2005 10:44 PM

Oh NO, Amarantha - don't GO! Just stick with us - the Royal Ones. We will support you, not annoy you!

No, haven't been watching Van Cliburn competition! I don't think we get it here! Always a great thing - but the repertoire list is SOOOOOOOOO long! Boggles the mind.

Doing well here - only one major boo-hooing today regarding the departed Hound! Went to Curves and have had a VERY clean day of eating.

How's the rest of the kindgom?

Two weeks till the solstice! Let's really put it into high gear!

I, too, am hoping that Amarantha will keep checking in with us. I think she will! ;)

Ivanna, it'll get easier--really. Two of my beloved dogs have been gone for years and I still miss them terribly. As a friend of mine said, "they're not really gone, just gone ahead."

Started my Body For Life [for Women!] challenge yesterday, and I feel better already. What a difference a day can make if we only let it! :D Am thinking of starting a journal type thread in the challenges section--will you come visit if I do? :^:

frogger 06-07-2005 09:00 AM

Please stay Amarantha!! I agree, just stick here to us and be not annoyed!!!

frogger 06-07-2005 09:06 AM

Is anyone else as discusted with not losing any weight as I am? Why can't I get the motivation to do anything about it? Maybe it's not really the motivation issue. I have plenty of motivation, it's the actual action part I'm having issues with. I did it before. You ladies where there. Almost 80lbs gone before Sydney. And now I really only need to lose 60 this go round, but I just can't seem to do it. Dang me!!!

Ok enough whining...back to the drawing board...

aria2000 06-07-2005 09:26 AM

Amarantha ~ Please don't go!

DTimpma ~ I was watching though the Van Cliburn Foundation website! You could access even in Europe. I agree with you: the rep is a killer!
