Hi eveyone, I hope you all had a great mother's day.

Kerry, don't worry about falling off track for a couple days. Life is too short to get all uptight about it. And besides, you got to work on your tan. That must mean you have sun where you are. We have rain and more rain in the desert. I really miss the sun.

Lori, I also hit Wally's world today but only after I'd been to Costco. That's the place I really gasp at the total.

Kim, way to go on staying on the SB diet. The first couple weeks of any diet is tough but you're close to finishing that phase one. Are you going to like phase 2 better?

Well, I had a more eating type of weekend but didn't do too horrible (unless you look at today's nutritional content - that was bad - calories weren't too high). DH and I had our 22nd anniversary and we clebrated in Reno (where it was also cloudy in the desert but since it's not too far away I didn't hold a lot of hope for warm sunshine). We had a great italian dinner last night and I didn't eat all my food. This morning, we used the hotel's health club and I rode an exercycle. Then we lounged in a spa. It was a great way to start the day. Anyway, calorie wise it wasn't too bad. Could have been better if I was perfect, but since I'm not, c'est la vie.

Between the anniversary and mother's day, I have oodles of flowers. At costco, I got 24 roses and a lead crystal vase to hold them all. They are gorgeous. Then I got a fuschia plant from DH and a cyclemen (sp?) from DS and his girlfriend. I just adore flowers so it was a perfect weekend.

I have tomorrow and Wednesday off this week, except for an inservice that I'm presenting on Wed. afternoon. Pretty soon I will be through all my leave time and I'll have to work at least four days a week. But for now, it's use it or lose it and I'm not generous. I'm not going to work for free so I'm using it. I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow, but Lori, be assured that I will be taking a nap. I just love naps. Eating healthy and exercising haven't changed that.

Talk to you all later.
Marie

Good Morning Chickies :coffee: !!!

Another Monday yuck! But the scale was so nice to me this morning I'll have to enjoy the day. 2 & 1/2 lb. loss. Man, I thought I wasn't going to make my Memorial Day goal when I hit that platue, but the chances are looking way better! I wanted to go through my clothes in my closet, but I spent the weekend clearing brush with DH. So, maybe this weekend!

Marie, I don't blame you one bit, use the days up!!! I know I would!!! Congratulations on the 22nd aniversery! That's great, I've never been to Reno and with the renters moving out soon, I may not be vacationing to far from home again this year! I want to at least drag the kids to the beach, we have never taken them to the beach and I think they would enjoy it!

Kim, phase 2 is a day closer everyday! How did last night go?

Kerry, remember butt back on the wagon today!!! It's a new week and you're going to be making a fresh new start. (hope this is motivating enough, it's 6am and I'm sleepy)

Well TOM has come and gone this week, that has to be one of my favorite things that working out has helped! TOM dosen't hang out as long and isn't near as heavy!

Ok, I'm going to get ready for work, chat with you all later!!!

Loud_Librarian 05-09-2005 10:36 AM

Back on plan

Well I HAVE to get back on plan and if that means logging all that I eat everyday again, that's what I have to do. The scale did not look pretty this morning, but I am not doing an official WI until the middle of the week. TOM is fast approaching and I am surely holding some water weight from my awful eating these past few days. I'll probably have to move my ticker in the wrong direction, but hopefully not too much. I'm wondering if I'll make the Memorial day goal of 140 now :( That sux!!

I'm feeling really down about this. I don't know how I could have gotten so off track. I'm going to kick my own butt Lori! I must be held accountable. No more thinking I can add the calories up in my head and be ok. No going over 1400 if I don't work out. No more regular Cokes or Klondike bars :o BAD BAD Kerry!!! No more skipping the gym almost every day I'm supposed to go. :s: I gotta get my act together and stop being satisfied with how I look and KNOW that I can look and feel better.

kimberlydrn 05-09-2005 11:44 AM

I did it!

Believe it or not, I resisted temptation last night. I can't believe it myself. There was so much food last night.....bakery cake with whipped icing, chips and rotel, ice cream, sugar cookies (my favorite), and I resisted every bit of it. I stuck with my grilled chicken, salad, and blackeyed peas. After work, I went to the gym and did a step aerobics class. I know I can do it now. 5.5 more days! I mainly miss my Fiber 1, oatmeal, and blackberry yogurt. I can't wait!

Marie-Happy Anniversary!!!! :hat:

Lori-Congrats on the 2.5 pound loss!!!! :woo: :cheer: I would so love to be 143!

Kerry-You just have to forget about yesterday and focus on today. I know that from experience. It will be harder to get back on track if you are beating yourself up. Today is a new day. You can do it!

kpe 05-09-2005 07:58 PM

Hey everyone!!! Just caught up on everyones post since Saturday. Yesterday was a great but hectic day. My darling hubby at the age of 35 graduated from college!!!!!! Wooooo Hooooo!!!!!! He has worked so hard to get this done. It is really hard when you work all day to find classes at night, but he did and now he is a college graduate!

We went out to dinner at our favorite mexican place and I had the best seafood enchiladas!!!! They were worth every point!!! And if WI is bad on Thursday...oh well. I agree with some of you ladies about taking this diet thing to seriously!! I am always so uptight about my points, but yesterday I did what I wanted and I don't feel guility at all!!!! ( thats a big step for me)When I started this journey I knew it would be a long one (life long actually) and I have to let myself endulge once in awhile as long as I stay focused and get back on plan. I enjoy good food!!! Of course, that helped me get to where I am but life is too short to never have the things we love!!! I guess it is all about moderation. Well anyway I need to give the kids a bath before bedtime and I just wanted to pop on quickly to check in. Enjoy the rest of the evening!!!

KYColonel 05-09-2005 08:30 PM

Hey All!!! Remember Me??????????????????

I thought my life was crazy before, but now insane is nowhere close!!!!

My Father is in the hospital in Nashville, Tn, airlifted out a couple of weeks ago after his heart stopped. He has coded (as in code blue) again twice since he has been there. He is going to have a defibrillator implanted tomorrow.

My days have been driving back and forth, I am taking turns with my sisters staying at the hospital. So needless to say, my computer time is lacking! It is almost 9 pm here now, and I am still in Lexington, an hour and a half away from home. I just decided that I will get a room her tonight, do some work in the morning before the 5 1/2 hour trip to Nashville.

I am very happy for all the weight losses! You gals are doing great! I think when I actually find my way home to the scale, I will be pleased, since my clothes are really starting to hang on me. (Maybe it is because I don't have time to change, and they are just all stretched out!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Bear with me girls, I will be back someday, but I really did want to take a minute to let you all know why I have been MIA!

Joetta

Loud_Librarian 05-09-2005 08:57 PM

Joetta - I am so sorry about your father. We have missed you around here and had no idea that things were so rough for you. You and your family are in my thoughts and I hope that things improve. You are really running yourself ragged - take care girl. (((Hugs)))

Paige - Congrats to your hubby!! Graduating college is such a great accomplishment at any age, but I think especially for non-traditional students. I have one here in my house working on his BFA and it can get tough and he's not even working FT. Tell him I said Congrats and Hooray!!

Kim - You are doing great!! Keep it up! You're my inspiration right now to kick my butt back in gear, get back on plan and be GOOD. I don't think I could do SB though so I have to count those calories.

Marie - Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful way to celebrate - spa time!! Yeah! And Italian is my favorite dinner for celebrations. As kid I always celebrated my birthdays at Olive Garden.

Lori - It sounds like you are doing GREAT!! I am so jealous! I bet you will make the Memorial Day goal - no problem!! Keep it up! :)

I stayed under 1400 calories today and worked out HARD for 30 minutes. I did 1.5 miles on the elyptical and 1 mile on the bike and worked the abs. I just have to keep it up too! ;)

See you tomorrow chickies!

kimberlydrn 05-09-2005 11:44 PM

Good day!

Today has been a really good one. I'm feeling so much better since I've started eating differently....like a new and improved person. The scale showed I've lost another pound also...WoooHoooo! I love it! :D

Paige-Congrats on DH finally graduating. That's great! Your seafood enchil. sounds delicious. That's the great thing about WW is those Flex points. My problem was that I always ate about 60 of them instead of 35. I know that if you work the program it definitely works for you though. I'll probably go back to counting points in July after my vacation is over with. WW is a lot more fun than SB. If I wasn't so cheap I'd join and go to the meetings. I'm sure the extra support helps.

Joetta-That defibrillator will help. Isn't technology wonderful? I'm so glad he's there in the hospital while he's having those problems and they're able to shock him. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer. Cardiac nursing is my specialty. Hang in there sister! I laughed so hard about the clothes being stretched out. You could always find a stand up scale in the hospital to weigh on. I almost always step on one when I see them in the hallway of the hospital I work at. They're probably the most accurate too.

Kerry-Olive Garden is my favorite!!!! We don't have one here, but that's where we usually eat when we go to Memphis which is about an hour away. It's a real treat for me. It sounds like you're back on track and doing wonderful. You girls will both make that 140 goal. You can do it!

lmatis 05-10-2005 06:21 AM

Good Morning Chickies!!

Yesterday was very hectic, I haven't cleaned house in way tooo long!! So I stoped at my old house and made DH dig up the septic tank (real monkey wrench in his plans), made me late getting home. Tossed dinner together, cleaned both bathrooms (with the kids help) and didn't work out until 10pm. I crawled in bed at 11 and just fell over! I'm still tired this morning and got up early just to talk to you girls! I do agree, you have to cheat every now and again or you would never stick to a healthy life style. As soon as I hit 140 were having pizza! I'm planning to cheat on Memorial day weekend, then back on track till the 4th of July!

Kerry, glad your back in the swing, and don't beat yourself up! I know how I am, I can't let myself stay in a rut to long or I won't get back on the wagon. As long as I keep working out, I can usually swing back easily!

Joetta, it is great to hear from you! I hope your dad is doing better! My dad got a difibulator at the beginning of this year, but they are giving him too much blood pressure medicine to slow his heart down and he is not very active anymore. They say his heart will last longer, but it has taken a real toll on his quality of life.

Paige, Mexican sounds sooo good about now, I used to love Chi-chi's, but they went out of business since the whole hepititus thing here in Pittsburg.

Kim, way to go on sticking to your plan!!! Before you know it you'll be at 140!!! I do agree WW is a great plan, but like you I cheated my flex and reg. points away in a matter of minutes every day, then felt stuck like I couldn't eat and couldn't figure out how to fix the problem for the week.

Ok, it's getting late and I have to get ready for work! Chat with you all later!!!

kimberlydrn 05-10-2005 11:40 AM

150!!!!

Just a quick post to let you all know that I hit the 150 mark this morning. I get to add an angel. I'm doing the happy dance! :cb:  :dancer:

judydc 05-10-2005 07:19 PM

Sorry I've been gone so long. I don't have as good an excuse as Joetta, though. Joetta, I'm thinking of you and your dad at this time, and sending hugs and good wishes.

I'm expecting a call soon, so I can't stay. But it's great to catch up on your posts. Way to go, everyone, for keeping on track, or for climbing back on!

:balloons:

Marie 05-10-2005 09:56 PM

Hi all,

Joetta, my prayers are with you and your father. I hope the implant will help tremendously. I know it must be scary.

Paige, tell DH congrats from Oregon. I was a non-tradional student and I swear I got a lot more out of it then my classmates did. I think going when you've matured is the best way to do it.

Kim, way to go on staying with SB. You're doing great and congrats on doing the happy dance.

Lori, go to sleep early tonight and get some rest. Sure sounds like you need it.

I had a blah day at work, but now that I'm home, I'm quite happy. I love my house and surfing to 3FC. I struggled with food today - nothing satisfied me. But here's the good news, I didn't keep searching for the perfect food - I gave up. So I didn't overeat, I stayed on plan even though it was a struggle. I think that I made some major progress with that.

That's about it from here. Take care and I'll chat with you tomorrow.
Marie

Loud_Librarian 05-11-2005 08:48 AM

Hump Day!

Congrats Kim!! :cb: Way to go on the SB!

Judy - Good to see you :) We understand being busy busy! ;)

Marie - Nice job passing on the cravings for something you can't identify! :p Nothing is the best choice in those circumstances.

Lori - I couldn't imagine giving up some of the foods that you do! Good for you!! I really can't sacrifice like that or I obsess. Although I have stayed away from the chocolate for a couple weeks. ;)

Well for the sake of sanity I am making some changes to my goals. It seems that I am truly back at 145 and not budging :( My goal is to shoot to get down to 135 by the time DH & I take a vacation in August. For now that is my end goal and then I'll work to maintain and possibly get below 135 to 130. I must admit that I am VERY happy with how I am looking, esp after working out. Even though I've put on a few lbs again, my tummy is looking more toned and my legs are looking lovely :) I don't know that I am meant to get skinny again, but just thinner. I may change my mind down the road, but for now this all seems doable and like it will make me happy also I think it will be more manageable in the long run.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :p

kimberlydrn 05-11-2005 11:29 AM

I'm still managing to stay on program. I definitely have fewer cravings. Only 3.5 more days of Phase 1. I'm surprising myself, can any of you tell? Usually I have no willpower. I can't wait until the scale is in the 140's! That is what is keeping me motivated. I'm not going to the gym this morning. My legs are still sore. I think I'm eating too few carbs. It will help Sunday when I can start adding in fruit.

Lori-Pizza sounds so good! Pepperoni pizza is my favorite food in the world. :jeno: I plan on having some the last week of June while I'm on vacation. I'm afraid to eat it before then, because I definitely don't want to have to start Phase 1 again.

Judy-welcome back! :)

Marie-Great job staying on plan! :cp:

Kerry-145 is still awesome! You can definitely still make that 140 Memorial Day goal. :ebike: :crossed:

Have a great day!

kimberlydrn 05-11-2005 11:31 AM

I just love that little fellow on the bike. I just had to add that in there.

Igottabme 05-11-2005 02:24 PM

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join in. I just joined last week, but have been working on my weight since February. I'm a full time working stiff with a 1/2 hour each way commute and a busy 2 & 1/2 year old :dizzy: I manage to get in 45 minutes a day excersise by doing 15-20 minutes on the treadmill in the morning and walking at lunch time....Joetta, sorry about your dad, I hope everything turns out ok..... just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. :)

Loud_Librarian 05-11-2005 03:28 PM

Hello Hello!!

Welcome Julie!! It sounds like you are doing great on your plan. We're always glad to have another working stiff. I'm a Medical Librarian and commute 30-45 min (depending on traffic) each way. I try try try to workout at least 4 times a week for 30-40 minutes. I HATE to exercise, but I'm really trying. I lost my first 15 just counting calories. Now I've been lingering in the mid 140s for ages it seems. We need all the support we can get - I hope you stick around :)

Kim - You are doing great!!! Thanks for the encouragement. I really need it right now. I'm going to need to do a lot of this: :ebike: :tread: to get where I want to be. So you all need to :coach: ride my @ss - For REAL girls!!

Marie 05-11-2005 10:41 PM

Wednesday Evening

Hi everybody, I hope your Wednesday was great. It's downhill slide into weekend. Welcom Julie, it sounds like you'll be a great addition to our little group. Kerry, more than likely you've gained muscle if you're stuck at 145 - but you're thinner and toned. Way to go. That's just awesome. :dizzy:

I had a good day. I stayed on plan and didn't go over my calories. As I type, I;m highlighting my hair. I colored it back to my natural color (dark blonde) and am adding highlights. I figure the sun and pool will lighten it a bit this summer. But I like the color it turned out. I always color my hair red in November and let it go back natural in the spring. Apparently I can never be satisfied. :D

I also exercised today and that was day four for a week. That's progress for me. I don't tend to like to exercise but I'm forcing myself to do it. I even upped the resistance on the exercycle this past week. It's a good workout but I found that I get really sweaty now. I suppose that's good.

Have a great night and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Marie

lmatis 05-12-2005 06:30 AM

Good Morning Chickies!!!
I'm still here, I've been cleaning house like a dog this week! I hope to have the whole house back in shape by the weekend so I can help DH clear more brush!

Kerry, I know exactly what your saying about your goal weight! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to weigh anymore, I just want my old clothes to fit! I'm tonning very nicely, but I still have alot of flab around my spare tire area that needs to go. The number is not as important, I have to watch it or I'll lose control, but measuring myself has helped keep me from going scale crazy!

Kim, I'm so proud of you!!!! And I don't blame you for not wanting to do phase one again! You'll get your carbs back this week, and can up your work outs again.

Julie, welcome! We are all really busy, so you'll find short and long posts here! I'm sure you'll fit right in!

Marie, sounds like your doing great, even with DH still home! Way to go on upping your work out days! I added an extra day of cardio a couple of weeks ago and it has helped!

Judy, just glad to here from you! We all know about being busy!!! Just keep popping in and letting us know how it is going!!

I see Paige isn't getting as many turns on the computer, bad DH! I miss Robin getting lunch time on the computer (hope your still doing good) And I hope Joetta gets us an update soon, I hope all is ok!!!

I have to get ready for work, and more cleaning tonight! So I'll check back tomorrow!!!

Loud_Librarian 05-12-2005 08:50 AM

I did a bunch of research yesterday on ideal weight and for my height (5'7") and build (medium) everything says no lower than 135. I'm really frustrated because the scale and I don't agree. I know I should stay off it, but I can't

I guess I just need to keep eating healthy and not too much and keep exercising. I am happy with the way my body is shaping up and that is what matters - right?

If I don't see any real results by mid summer I'll re-evaluate what I am doing and maybe try something different like WW or SB. There is a group organizing at the hospital where I work for WW, but I'm not totally sold on the group meeting thing just yet. I like you girls for my support on my own time schedule.

Well I have today off because I have to work on Sunday. I'm going to take Bella to the lake, wash the car, do a little housework and shopping. It's supposed to be 87 degrees here today. WOW! That's hot!

Have a great one and I'll check in later! :)

Igottabme 05-12-2005 10:57 AM

Thank You!

Thanks for the warm welcome! This seems like a good place. Think I'll stick around for a while ;)

Don't hate me, but I am loving the excersise  I am a walker from way back....always loved it since I was a kid...but unfortunately it is the only thing I like to do...better than nothing I suppose....looking into possibly adding some light weights to my routine.

I was on hiatus on and off....mostly off  since I had my son 2 &1/2 years ago...lots of other changes, so walking took a back seat, and before I knew it I gained 15+ lbs on my already overweight body, I was never very good about watching what I ate, I did ok, never ate alot of fast food, but was not good about portion control (I at least maintained while I was walking) but got out of control this past year....no excersise...stress eating...I am definately a stress eater....learning to stop that

It's nice to meet you all of you!

melexies 05-12-2005 02:13 PM

Hi Everyone! I am brand spankin' new to this site and thread. And after reading may other threads, this one looks like the one I would love to be part of!

Just like most of you, I am outta my house by 6:45am and don't get home until 6:30 - 7:00pm. It stinks.....because most days I am stuck in rush hour for an hour in the morning and at least another hour in th afternoon. I am fortunate not to have a child that would be subjected to my schedule, but am concerned what I am going to when I do decide to have children. 32 and my clock is tickin'.

Then the most difficult time comes along.....dinner time. What do I make, what do I feel like making.....and I always end up making two meals because I have a fiance who has the metabolism of someone with a hyper thyroid (very jealous of him). It's difficult to motivate myself to even cook dinner nonetheless exercise, which never happens because I am so very tired. How do you stay motivated????

I am getting married in the begining of October and am concerned that I will not meet my goal weight and am feeling especially large today. In the beginning, I was losing about 2 pounds a week and now I am losing like 1/2 lb. every two weeks. And I of course am sitting here thinking about what I can eat, and I just finished eating lunch...that's bad bad bad bad....

Well, I'm glad to have found this site and want to wish everyone success in this arduous task we all have decided to take on!

kimberlydrn 05-12-2005 02:57 PM

149!!!!!!!

I know that I said I was staying off the scales until Sunday, but I couldn't resist. I weighed 149 this morning!!!!! The 140's!!!!!! I'm so happy. I hope I never see the 150's again. I'm loving SB. I've never been on any diet where I've lost so much weight so quickly. I didn't even lose this much on Atkins and I was really miserable on it. I think I lost 8 pounds the first 2 weeks on Atkins and this makes 11 pounds in 12 days! Phase 2 is coming in 2.5 days, and it seems it gets easier every day. My cravings have practically stopped and you girls know from my posts that I'm a carb binger. Can you tell I'm happy? :D I'm planning on a step aerobics class at 6:45 tonight and some weights.

Julie-Welcome! I think that would be great if you incorporate some weights in your workout. :strong: It helps so much. Building that muscle will speed up your metabolism and you'll burn more calories each day. I'm a stress eater also. Usually the only time I feel a lot of stress is when I'm at work, so that's my biggest challenge. It is a pleasure to meet you!

Kerry-Thanks for putting a smile on my face. :) Enjoy your day off!

Marie-Great job staying on plan and upping your workouts. You'd be surprised how many extra calories you burn by upping resistance. The way I look at it is if I'm going to be working out, I might as well be getting the maximum benefit and burn as many calories as possible. I go lighter on my hair in the spring and darker in the fall also. I think it's fun changing haircolor. ;)

Lori-It sounds like you're getting a great workout with all of the housecleaning. I probably need to try that one.

Melexies-Welcome! Congrats on the upcomming wedding! Wow-33 pounds lost....how'd you do it girl, if you don't mind my asking? That's awesome! :cp:

Igottabme 05-12-2005 03:13 PM

Welcome melexies,

Congratulations on your up coming wedding!

Are you doing your own plan? Or are you on something like WW?

Seems like I am starting a situation such as yours as my weightloss seems like it could be slowing. I too was losing about 2lbs a week until this past week when I lost only 1/2 lb. From what I hear that is perfectly normal and the recommendation I got was to maybe increase excersise time or add a little weight, so I am going to try that. I have already increased my walking time in the past two days from 45 mintues to almost 1 hour. We'll see if that helps. The folks on this board are very helpful!

Try to be patient with the loss, even if you continue to lose 1/4 per week that is still very good, not to mention healthy! You will be down another 5lbs by your wedding! Much better than gaining!

Looks like you are doing wonderfully so far! 33lbs is a great accomplishment! What did you do to get to this point? If you have not been excersising at all then I would think once you start that would be a great boost! Do you have time to work out at lunch? Is there an area you can walk around? Is there a club/gym near work that you could join? I try to fit as much excersise as I can at lunch so I don't have to after work since I am so busy when I get home. I do manage 15-20 minutes most mornings before work, but I get most of my walking in at lunch.

Also wondering how tall you are...133 does not sound like a bad weight to be especially if you are taller.

melexies 05-12-2005 03:23 PM

Kim - Thanks for the welcome and the good wishes :goodvibes: How'd I do it.....Well, I started keeping a journal of EVERYTHING I ate EVERY day. I limited myself to anywhere between 1000-1200 calories a day. Yes, that little because I am barely 5 feet tall with a small frame. I found things that taste awesome that I had forgotten taste so awesome lots and lots of fruit, veggies, boca burgers, turkey taco salad, fish/shellfish almost every night for dinner, no complex carbs after 5:00pm, white cheddar corn cakes, pickles, salads with Fat Free Ranch dressing with bacon bits. I cut out all artificial sweeteners (except for Sweet n Low) especially sucralose  (Splenda), because it was making my digestive system ill, literally. Bad stuff! And last but not least, I am drinking innerlight supergreens, which is an additive to the 3/4 - 1 gallon of water I drink every day.

I really just need to start exercising. I feel so lazy and lethargic!

Igottabme 05-12-2005 03:31 PM

Hey Kim.
:thanks: ...and I'm planning on adding some weights, just need to get my butt to the sporting goods store to get some...this blasted job keeps me from doing the things I really want to do like shopping  ...but I guess I could not shop if I didn't have a job..double edged sword...oh well...there is always ebay :D I'll get there, hopefully this weekend.
Have a great day

melexies 05-12-2005 03:39 PM

Hi Julie! And thanks for the congrats! As you can see from the post above, I am doing my own thing and I am a little person, so that is why I am not happy in the 130's. The lunchtime is great idea, but I work in downtown Miami, FL and just isn't beautiful nor is the humidity. I would be kind sweaty upon my return to the office.:yikes: I am going to go back to the Yoga studio on Tuesday's and see how I fair. I practiced Yoga 3 times a week about 8 months ago and then had to travel for work and had the poor excuse of getting out of the habit of exercising. This tuesday, I AM going back. I felt so good when I was practicing. Very enlightning.

I guess I really shouldn't complain since I have lost all the weight since January 3 of this year and also quit smoking in the process. Sometimes it is hard to appreciate all you have done for yourself when you are not as sucessful as you had wished/hoped for.

I am so very happy I found this thread!! And please keep me posted on if the additional exercise/walking helps. That is awesome that you get and hour of walking in every day. :D

Hi again melexies,
Can you tell I am having a slow day at work  Anyhow...I can totally relate to being short. I am 5ft 2 which is why I am going for 125 ;) I can also relate to the sweaty thing, fortunately I have my own office and can close the door  ! Anyway today was only 55 degrees when I went for a walk, didn't break much of a sweat, but yesterday was 83 degrees :dunno: Ahh the joys of leaving in the northeast! Good luck with the yoga class!

Igottabme 05-12-2005 04:02 PM

:o I meant living in the northeast! Was that a Freudian slip or what???

Welcome Melexies!! We love to get new working stiffs on boards with our madness!! It sounds like you and I have done a lot of the same things to lose weight without exercise. I journaled every morsel that passed my lips for months, then stopped and recently went back to it. I lost the first 15 pounds with little to no exercise. Then everyone here started lecturing me :nono: so I started exercising. I lost more and then I've gained some. Not sure why, but I think it might be from weight lifting :wl: and because I stopped counting everything. So it's back to counting, but I actually feel good about myself for exercising. I'm in the South too and it's too hot and humid here now to workout outside. I joined a gym and even though I don't feel like I completely fit in, it's good for me to go and get in that frame of mind and exercise. CONGRATS on the upcoming wedding and all the weight lost.

Well all you petite ladies have made me feel a bit better about my recent goal change. I'm like half a foot taller and definitely a medium build. So TEN more pounds it is. I bought size 8 skirts today! I was shocked and happy. I really think my waist has slimmed since exercising and working those abs to death!

WAY TO GO KIM!!! Welcome to the 140s. I hope you don't linger in them as long as I have. I'm glad SB is working so well for you. If things don't change for me, I'm going to have to do something drastic as well.

I had a great day off. I didn't fit in a nap like some people, but I did get up to the lake with Bella and she wen't swimming. I cleaned the car and worked on my tan  Then went shopping for some clothes that fit. Now I gotta go make dinner. I'm making my LF baked chicken parm. Yum!

It's almost FRIDAY!!!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Don't tell DH I'm on the computer. Actually I got him to get the kids ready for bed if I promised I was off by the time he came back downstairs. I am already trying to figure out a way to get another computer!!! I want my own, I don't like to share my toys!!!!!!! Anyway I had WI today and I was up 2lbs. but I deserve it. I've had the munchies really bad (stress eating...2pts here...lpt. here....) this past week and TOM should be here anyday. So the gain was not unexpected...just a bump in the road. Today was the last day of our at work program so I have 2 weeks to join a WW center without having to re-register. Several of us from work are going to go together on Saturday mornings so I won't have to weigh in until a week from Saturday. Hopefully by then the 2lbs plus alittle more will be gone.

Kerry- Sounds like you had a nice day today...of course any day away from work is a good one!!!

Lori and Marie- Sounds like you are doing well making good staying on plan, great job in keeping up with the exercise. That has been my downfall lately and I need to get back on the treadmill.

Kim- Wow!!! Almost through Phase I!!!! That is awesome. I have been told that if you can get through this then you will do great on this diet. I couldn't make it past day 2!!! Horray for hitting the 140's!!!!!!!!! Keep it up!

Welcome Julie and Melexies!! You two have been busy here today!!! I hope you find the support here that you are looking for. This is a great group of women!!!

Melexies- My hours are very similar to yours. And I have found that if I cook on the weekend then I do much better sticking to my plan during the week. When I get up in the morning I take a meal out of the freezer and put it in the fridge. Then when I get home I warm it up and fix a salad or a veggie to go with it and I'm done!! Before I started WW in February, I never cooked!!! We ate whatever was fast and easy!!! Which means either someone delivered it to our door, or it was handed to us from a window!!!

Opps... I here DH coming so I had been go. I'll check back in tomorrow.

kimberlydrn 05-12-2005 10:40 PM

It's been a good day. I've stuck totally to plan and feel totally satisfied. I had app. 1380 calories today and burned about 350 at the gym. Tomorrow is work though so that's when I'm most challenged. I've got all of the food thawing out that I'm cooking for the weekend.

Melexies-I love Boca Burgers, especially with a little A1 on them. I just had one today for lunch, as a matter of fact. Sounds like you have a great plan. Great job quitting smoking! That's a greater accomplishment than the weight loss even. I smoked for 15 years and quit about 2 1/2 years ago. It was way harder for me to quit smoking than to cut back on eating. It's a powerful addiction.

Julie-Isn't Ebay great? I do a lot of my shopping on Ebay. I love having the presents delivered right to my door. I'm 5'2" so I'm a shorty too.

Kerry-Glad you enjoyed your day off. Thanks for the welcome. I'm glad to be here.

Paige-Great to hear from you again. TOM is evil, huh? I usually expect a 3-5 pounds weight gain. Good luck on your next weigh-in.

Marie 05-12-2005 11:05 PM

Hi everybody, today's been a good day. I didn't hardly have anything to do today (at least that was urgent) and I started designing my district's new web page. It was fun. It was the best day I've had at work in a long while. I had a good time.

I went a little over on calories today but it was by choice instead from stress or boredom. It was gorgeous outside and I wanted a burger for dinner. So we BBQ'ed and it was worth every calorie. I tried the boca burgers and just didn't like them enough to save the 100 calories from eating a very lean burger. Since I rarely eat meat, I figure I just have to exercise a little harder.

Julie, I love ebay. I just adore ebay. I'm obsessed with ebay. Shopping has never been so fun. It's like Christmas when the packages come. Currently I'm bidding on a Nascar t-shirt for my son. He'll need it when we go to the Sonoma race in June. BTW I got the tickets on ebay too. :D

Melexia, welcome to a great group. Congrats on the upcoming wedding, weight loss and quitting smoking. Your definitely making a lot of changes in your life. That's got to be exciting.

Kim, work is challenging for me too. Usually I like putting stuff in my mouth as I work at the computer. It's been a hard habit to break but I'm doing a lot better with it. For a while, I tried healthy snacks but even that doesn't work - I was overeating those too. CONGRATS on making that 149 marker.

Kerry, I'm glad you enjoyed your day off. I love days off in the middle of the week. It's almost decadent. I bet Bella had fun at the lake.

Paige, you definitely need your own computer. What does DH think? That you can go cold turkey when the digital age is taking over? Sorry about the gain but TOM will do that to us all. You'll get rid of it.

Well I'll talk with you all tomorrow.
Marie

Happy Friday!!!

Good Morning Chickies!! :coffee: I was running late today, but traffic was in my favor so it was ok. I guess lots of people don't go to work on Friday or go in late or something??

I have an easy day today, nothing too stressful, mainly whatever I want. :p I can do lots or nothing it's up to me. The boss is out and we just have to operate basically. I have to work tomorrow from 8-1 but that shouldn't be bad bc no other staff is here. I'll just read the internet and watch the phones/desk. Well we might have some patrons.

I have stayed under calories all week. I think I'm doing better but it was hard to get back on track. I can't let that happen again. I lifted weights on Wed and my muscles are killing me! I gotta get to the gym tonight, but probably for only 30 min of cardio and darn it I have to remember to use my inhaler before I go (I forgot last time thus the 45 minutes of weights).

I hope to see you all around here! Good work on stealing the puter Paige ;) You really need your own. And we haven't seen Robin in ages :(

Igottabme 05-13-2005 11:45 AM

Good Monring

It's Friday the 13th!!! :sp:
But so far ok. I got 20 minutes on the :tread: , went for a 10 minute walk when I picked up the mail and plan to walk another 30 minutes at lunch.

Kim & Marie, Isn't ebay wonderful??? I think I furnished half of my house with stuff that I bought on there  If my husband knew how much I spent he would probably shoot me! :fr:

Paige, my husband won't touch any computer with a 10 foot pole so I guess I am lucky that way...he is technologically challenged! Altough it is a pain in the rear if he needs something done on there he always asks me to do it

Kerry, It's pretty quiet around here today too so far, but my boss was out most of the week, and is back today, so I am waiting for it to hit the fan

Have a good weekend everyone!

Igottabme 05-13-2005 11:55 AM

Forgot to say good luck on your ebay bid Marie! I hope you get the shirt at the price you want...isn't it a pain when you think you are going to get something and someone turns around and outbids you at the last second! :tantrum: That is how I ended up paying $200 for a purse that I wanted a couple of months ago gheesh!!!! :dizzy: I really wanted that darn purse! I don't regret it...much

lmatis 05-13-2005 11:28 PM

Good Evening Chickies!!!

It's late and a storm is rolling in so I'll try to keep it short! First thing I want to say is welcome to our two new commers! I hope you enjoy it here!

Kerry, I'm very glad to hear your back on the wagon and behaving! I'm so bad at getting back on the wagon when I fall off. That's why I'm so careful to plan my cheat days, if I start (without a plan) I just go hog wild! As long as I keep working out, I'll snap back to eating better, but if I quit everything, look out!

Marie, it is really nice to hear about somebody have a good day at work, usually were all yacking about how bad it is! And I'm the biggest offender!! Glad to hear you sticking to it!

Go Kim Go!!! Phase 2 in what, 2 days!!!! Way to go!!!! It is funny how some of the cravings go away. I don't miss the candy and cakes, I treat myself to coffee with real sugar every morning with no fat flavored creamora. I don't miss the grease at all, but there is something about that darn pizza that really gets me. No low-fat pizza, I want the real thing, which we are planning on a pizza and movie night tomorrow! (I can't wait, it's been a month)

Julie, I took the time and showed my DH how to run the computer for the things he wants to do. We rarley fight over it, coz he just looks stuff up and if he wants to order I have do it. Yea, I'm an ebay freak myself, all of mine and the kids' bedroom furniture came from ebay and tons, and tons of other stuff. When I'm on vacation, the whole next week the mail lady is bringing me packages. Good thing I only have a week of vactation this year!!!

I did a different weight work out tonight, and boy are my legs and butt felling it. Oh the thunder is getting loud, I'm going to go and check in tomorrow! I don't want to blow up my computer!!!

Loud_Librarian 05-14-2005 08:33 AM

Saturday Morning at the Library . . .

Good morning girls! :coffee: I stopped on my way in and got a large coffee from the coffee house near home - it is yummy! It will be my breakfast ;) Lori, I too still use real sugar in my coffee. I tried to make the switch to Splenda in it, but couldn't stand it. And only when I get my coffee out do I use anything other than FF - today was whole milk, which isn't as bad as halfnhalf.

So it's quiet here as to be expected. I have two magazines to read and a few journals to shelve and that's about it. I hope it stays quiet unlike yesterday where I had to deal with technology issues from he!! What is wrong with people saving things to the desktop and expecting their 1000 page paper to be ok in that ONE place - Geeze! I told the girl to go buy herself a thumb drive to finish grad school! :smug:

We have to go buy a new lawn mower this weekend. :( Not exactly what I want to spend money on but hey at least I have it to spend right? I think we're going with the WalMart yard man. I swear I throw more money at WalMart every week!!! Other than that we've rented movies - watched Blade Trinity last night and we were cracking up through the whole thing! Tonight it's Spanglish which got better reviews.

The scale is a smidge below 145 so I seem to be making an impact with my bootcamp this week. I'm still hurting from my long weight session on Wed. Someday I hope to make it to that yoga class on Sat mornings to see if someone can help me do it better (instead of me just falling over :dizzy: ). I'll be going to the gym today and tomorrow since DH talked me out of it last night in favor of other horizontal activities!! :o Does that count as fitness??

Alright I'll shutup now. :blah: As you know I'm lonely and bored in the big library - just me and the books. :p Hope to see you all around this weekend. Keep it up girls! You're all doing GREAT!!!! :cp:

lmatis 05-14-2005 09:30 AM

Good Morning Chickies :coffee: !!!!

It is so dark and rainy hear this morning!!! No yard work today! Oh Kerry I know about DH trying to get me to skip working out for the alternative work out! I always tell him, I need to stay in the grove, then I'll clear the schedule for him later! He has gotten sooooo much better at letting me work out and not bugging me before and during! He usually goes in the living room and watches TV with the kids (cartoon network), or if I'm on the bike just turns the volume way up. Oh the tourtue  !! Hey he ought to be happy, 25+ pounds ago I didn't want to do any alternative work outs (I couldn't figure out how to do it with my clothes on) Heck now the tables have turned, it's usually me bugging him for alternative work outs!!!

Well, since I'm stuck indoors today, and the house is already clean, I guess I'm going to do some extra stuff (like the closet and movie cabinet) So I'm off to get busy! Kerry, I'll keep checking in so you don't get too bored!

kimberlydrn 05-14-2005 09:46 AM

Well, Phase 2 came early yesterday which turned into a full blown binge. Oh well, my Southbeach days are over. I don't think I could go through Phase 1 again. It's an effective plan but too boring. I need variety, and I so missed my carbs. I think I'll just go back to counting points today. I feel bloated and sick, as I ate way too much. I just have to get right back on some kind of plan today so that next time I weigh I'll still be in the 140's. I'm going to try to not let it get me down. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.
