Lori-that is great advice. I can't dwell on it.
I did much better today. I had 1200 calories and went to my step aerobics class. I'm back on track now. Tomorrow I'm making taco soup. I love that stuff! Also, I'm planning on 1 hour at the gym. Have a great night ladies!
Kim

Loud_Librarian 04-12-2005 08:23 AM

I'm feeling better today too. I ate well yesterday and took a wonderful long strenuous walk after work. It's been hot and humid and icky here the past week, so I was a sweaty mess and I thought Bella was going to pant all night. I had to turn on the a/c for awhile. It's supposed to cool down again starting today and rain a bit. We really need some rain to clean the nasty pollen out of the air. These unseasonably hot spring days have me dreading the summer. I hate it. I really feel like doing nothing but sit inside where I can breathe. People think they're suffering now from the pollen, HA  Once the mold sets in for the summer I lose most ability to breathe through my nose without drugs. It stinks!

It sounds like everyone is off to a good start this week. Of course Marie had the right idea to take Monday off :smug: the week is much better without a Monday at work!

Joetta - it is good to see you back for a second or two before you rush off to your busy life. I hope things start to come ease up on you a bit. Didn't you just hire a new employee? She's going to help out a lot right?

Kim - you sure do exercise girl! I need to take a page from your book. Way to go!

Judy - that sounds like quite a party at the post office! And good for you on the tax refund - that has to feel good! :)

Lori - That's AWESOME that you hit the half-way point!!!! :D So what is your goal for Memorial day? 140? So that's 7 weeks. . . I think I'm right there with you. If I can get down to 140 by May 30 I will cry with joy!

Robin - I lost a post recently posting from home and couldn't believe it! :o I was so upset. Now I refuse to hit anything before coping & pasting no matter where I post from! ;)

rtardif 04-12-2005 06:03 PM

Hi again.

Just a short, quick note again. I'll catch up more tomorrow. I promise. I hope everyone is doing well today. It's been a stressful last two days here. And as such, that darned wagon threw me off again. At least it didnt' back over me this time. I'll be back on track tomorrow and should be settled back in for a while. Life just sometimes gets in the way of my having fun. ;)

Robin

lmatis 04-12-2005 07:40 PM

Hey, everybody looks like they are sailing along pretty well!!
Everyone seems to have a good upbeat attitude, even if we are all killer busy and hanging on to the wagon by our toe nails! :D Don't let him get ya Robin, that driver of yours needs to behave!!

My goodness, I don't have much to report today! I just realized things are kind of quite around here. I best not say that out loud!! I just finished cleaning out the inside of the furnace (spring cleaning the furnace) now there's a concept. I usually run around like an idiot in September replacing batteries in the smoke detectors and sweeping out the registers. Now with the air this thing is going to run all year round. Well maybe the kids will try harder not to let their toys fall down in the register and I won't have to sweep and scoop in September!!

Oh Kerry, how I hate the humidity!! We get our fair share here in PA! I'm so glad we called the A/C guy before that started again!! Nothing worse than being in a tin box on those hot days!! Kerry, I don't know if I'll cry with joy, but I'll be beside my self. I'm soo worried that I won't be able to break 140, I haven't been below 145 since they killed my thyroid. I'm very interested to see how my body reacts. And also slightly worried that I'll have to adjust my meds again (which can really slow weight loss down) and it takes months for them to get it right!!

Joetta, we miss your humor! I hope things slow up a bit for you soon!! I HATE the office crap, what is wrong with people, if she'ld just mind her own business she might get some work done!! I learned that working at Verizon, over 800 people in the building and if you had time for office politics you weren't doing your job. It was the first time I ever worked for a big company and the atmosphere was very different. At smaller businesses some body always hates my guts, usually a female with jealousy/competition issues. And I must have a big target on me, but the jokes on them, I don't want to be boss. But they usually feel I'm I threat, which I could be if I wanted but I've got better things to do with my time. I figure I'm the CEO at home and that's enough problems.

Ok I need to do dinner and work out! Kim's got enough work out motivation to keep me running for the week :D !!!

kpe 04-12-2005 08:52 PM

Just wanted you all to know that I am here. I've been keeping up with the post, but I guess I just haven't had much to say. I have been having a hard time getting back on track and I'm not sure why. I start the day off really well but by the end of the day I'm like to h-- with it and start looking for something to eat even when I'm not really hungry. I hope this will pass just another hurdle along the way......(I guess)

Paige

kimberlydrn 04-12-2005 11:40 PM

I have had an O.K. day. I made several poor food choices. I started really well, then ended up eating some peanut butter and chocolate and 2 doughnuts again. I did go to a 45 minute spin class though. That probably burned most of the calories. That is a major workout. I've got my mind made up...tomorrow's a new day, and I'm going to eat very healthy. Wednesday is the day that I usually go the gym twice, so that will help.

Kerry and Lori-I'd like to shoot for the 140 goal for Memorial Day also. I've got more to lose than the 2 of you, and I probably weigh more than 151 now. I'm afraid to weigh right now. I'm going to really try to push myself to hit 140 though. That would be awesome!

Loud_Librarian 04-13-2005 08:26 AM

HUMP Day!!!

Good Morning Chicks! :coffee: I made a cake in celebration of National Library Week for everyone here at work. I'll probably have to have a sliver, but I made it with LF sour cream  I have done GREAT the past two days and I don't believe that darn scale said 145 this morning and I'm not counting or claiming anything until my weigh in Monday. I don't know why, but it always seems like I weigh less on Wed than Mon  I do have restored hope though and I am on the 140 by Memorial Day Plan - Let's do IT!

I worked late last night so that I can leave early on Thur. My brother is coming to visit and getting in late Thur. I need time to clean up the guest room and get ready for him. I'm going to make desperate attempts to stay on plan while the little bro is here, but he's been known for serious sabotage!!

It has cooled down here and got rainy. That hurts my walking plans, but I'm going to do something tonight exercise-wise no matter what! I hope all of you are doing well, staying on plan and feeling positive!

Marie 04-13-2005 01:22 PM

Hi all

Kim and Paige, you'll get back on track. Keep posting. I think that's a big key into staying accountable. When I say I'm going to exercise to all of you, I make sure I do it. I wouldn't want to lie. Also, when I say I'm on plan, I wouldn't want to screw that up. So if you post, maybe it'll help nudge you back where you want to be. Good luck.

Kerry, good luck with the little brother. Guests always make staying on plan difficult, but I know you can do it. You've gone through a lot worse so good luck on sticking with it.

I've been on plan and stumbled onto a way to beat the morning snacking at work. Eat a bigger breakfast. I did that today and it's a lot better. I'm going to try that for a few days and if it continues to work, I'm going to rearrange when I eat my calories. It's nice not to be digging around for anything to eat. Plus, I enjoyed the breakfast (my low cal banana bread).

Tonight is exercise night and I hope I have more motivation than I did on Monday. I just didn't have the ompphh to go on the gazelle. I went 1.5 miles in 30 minutes whereas last Friday I went 2 miles. Definitely more push last week. So my goal is to put more effort into the exercise tonight.

TTYL.

rtardif 04-13-2005 04:45 PM

Good afternoon

Hello ladies. It's been a rough couple of days, but I'm somewhat back on track now. I've struggled with serious, chronic depression since I was a small child. And while I usually try to be a positive kind of person, every now and then I have a bad day, or few, in which I just don't care about anything. I don't want to get out of bed; I don't want to work, I don't want to exercise; I don't want to do anything good for myself. And so while it could have been much worse, I ate a huge doughnut and a large cookie with icing on Monday, and six chocolate-chip/M&M cookies on Tuesday. I take medication for the depression, which does help, but I think my hormones have a huge say in how I feel, too.

Speaking of hormones. I think I had my TOM starting last Friday and finishing up probably yesterday, or today. I say "I think" because I've actually had a hysterectomy a few years ago. I still have one ovary, so I still have my cycle, I just don't have the cramps like I used to (Thank God!) But I was retaining water and my breasts were sore like I was getting my TOM. Anyway, when I weighed in on Monday, I was still only 192, even though two days earlier I had weighed myself at 188 at home. It had to be the water weight, so I'm not too upset. That just means that I should have a bigger loss this next WI on the 25th.

I've also been fighting a battle for my husband's family. He has an aunt that is 56, but is mentally about 10. She had a really high fever as a baby and it left her somewhat ******ed. She has held a job the last 27+ plus years at a local hospital as a custodian. And they've always kept her working just under full time. They've given her two weeks of vacation a year but that's her only benefit. She's gotten no retirement at all. She's always supported herself financially, but now the hospital has two complaints of sexual harassment against her. And anyone who knows her, knows that that just isn't possible. I'm guessing they're trying to get rid of her. She doesn't understand what's going on. So, I've got calls in to the Labor Board and the Human Rights Commission on her behalf. It's stressful, and it really p*sses me off to know how they've taken advantage of her all this time. And from what I'm finding, I've only touched the surface. Sorry for the venting, but you're all so sympathetic, I was hoping you might have some other ideas on how to deal with this. I've got calls in to just about every state agency, and they all seem to agree with me. We haven't yet called an attorney, but that is our next step.

Take care all and I hope everyone is doing well with the exercise, eating, and drinking water. We're all doing really well, even with life's set backs. Kerry, enjoy your time with your brother. Kim, it sounds like we both go for the same foods. They're evil, I tell you. And good luck to everyone with the 140 goal. My goal for this week is not eat any more cookies or donuts. I'll start with that.

Take care.
Robin

lmatis 04-13-2005 07:25 PM

Good evening Chicks!
I spoke way to soon about things being quite, coz today the bottom fell out!! Work was just over the top crazy and the kids are cranky! Just shoot me now :dizzy:!!

Kim, your going to have to drive a differnt way home, bad donoughts, bad! I can't eat them, they cause me great pain (I think it's the grease) they talk back all day long! Now baked is a whole differnt ball game. Kim we'll have to get you stocked up on some better sweets!!

Oh Robin, that's just the pitts! The closest I ever got to depression is when my thyroid was super over active, I just wanted to lay on the couch I didn't care if the house would have burnt down around me! From what I understand the hormone imbalance was alot like menapause. I told DH if I act like that again just dig a hole in the yard and toss me in. Oh I was next to unbearable. I've read so many articles as of lately about how physical fitness helps with depression. But I'm glad your doing better today! :)

Marie, I read a great article today that says the stars eat 5 small meals a day to stay thin! I have a hard time squeezing it all in, my lunch box is over flowing with stuff! I just love to eat!!

Paige, keep your chin up, your doing sooo good! A few bad days won't hurt a darn thing. Pull that wagon around and get right back on! How many people at work are still sticking to it? I know you guys had a big group to start with, I was just curious.

Kerry, it is soo hard to stay on plan with company! But it will be fun having him over. How was the cake??

Ok, I want to mention this to see if I'm the only one or if anybody else if having similar poblems. I am all of the sudden starving, and I mean really bad. I can't seem to get my food to last more than a couple of hours and I'm starving all over again. So I'm trying to eat my small meals, but I seem to be just plain old eating more. What's your thoughts??

judydc 04-13-2005 08:20 PM

Just to let you know that I haven't forgotten you, and that I haven't fallen by the wayside....I'm swamped again at work, and haven't been able to do anything but get home late and pass out. But I'm eating per plan, for the most part, and working out most days. I want to respond to what I've quickly read, but if I start, I won't get home before 10PM.

Hugs to you all, hope that Thursday is a good day for each one of you!

judy

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to keep motivated but still really struggling with this mental roadblock I have hit. The real test will be if I go to WI tomorrow or skip. My scale and the WW scale are pretty close each week as far as my weight goes. My scale shows I have gained 4 lbs. this week and I don't know why. Well thats not true I guess.... My hands and feet are swollen, TOM should have been here 2 weeks ago (and before you ask No, I am not....) and I have broken out in hives from head to toe. So something is going on I am just not sure what it is.

Lori- Our WW group at work has dropped off. We started with 21 people and about 10 say they are doing it as they walk out of the cafeteria with a "school" lunch, and then they don't show up for WI, about 5 do it part time when it is convenient, and there are about 6 of us really doing it!!!

Marie- I am taking your advice and I am going to try and post more often to see if this helps my state of mind.

Everyone else... thanks for posting as often as you all do!! It really does help me to see everyone else's struggles and successes. THANKS!!

Paige

kimberlydrn 04-14-2005 01:08 AM

Good day!

Well, today has went so much better. I made it to the gym twice today as planned and kept my calories under 1350. I didn't eat any doughnuts, either. :p

Kerry-Good luck staying on plan with your brother visiting. :goodluck: That definitely makes it more challenging, but you can do it!

Marie-Eating a bigger breakfast does help a lot. It keeps me from snacking before lunch and I usually eat less throughout the day. Thanks for the advice. :thanks: It does help me to stay on track when I post here.

Robin-That's horrible about your husband's aunt. Some people are so mean. That's nice of you to help her out though.

Lori-Those doughnuts are bad! I was just wondering, have you increased your workouts? The more I exercise, the more I want to eat.

Paige- I would suggest that you go to your meeting, even if you're expecting a gain....at least for encouragement.

Judy-Great job eating right and working out! :high:

Loud_Librarian 04-14-2005 08:26 AM

The week is almost over!

I'm leaving early today and going to try to get a thousand things done: clean up the guest room, organize my clothes for consignment and Goodwill, shop for a wedding shower gift, wrap said gift, go to the grocery to stock up of snacks for brother and DH, prepare for interview tomorrow morning, and workout! WOW! :dizzy:

I did learn some interesting news yesterday. There is a good chance that the powers that be here where I work now are going to offer me a FT permanent position. I'm supposed to find out officially tomorrow. Let's just say that I'm in a bit of shock and spinning. My jaw dropped and I was speechless. Yes, me, speechless. This would be a good thing and I would take it and we would stay put. DH would not have to change schools, etc. :^: Keep your fingers crossed!! :goodvibes

Paige - I hope you get to feeling better. I have a good friend that deals with this and sees a psych regularly to get it out. Feel better soon and don't worry about the gain. You'll get back on track!

Robin - That stinks about your husband's aunt. I hope you get some good answers. I'm sorry I have no input or assistance to offer. I wish you and her all the best in sorting it out.

Lori - Sometimes I am starving! It happens mostly before I leave for the day to go home and I am dying for dinner. I agree that if you are exercising more that could have a huge impact. :workout:

Marie - I wish I had time for a big breakfast - good for you. I barely roll out of bed with enough time to get ready and drive to work. I LOVE my sleep almost as much as food! :D I hope it helps you!

Kim - I can't be near donuts. Keep them out of your sight and house and office! Find a substitute or just eat a couple donut holes or even eat the baked kind instead of the fried. Good luck getting back on track! We're here for you.

Judy - I hope things calm down for you. Do you stress out or are you more Zenlike? ;) We all know what I do! :p

I'll check back in later. Have a great day ladies! :)

rtardif 04-14-2005 05:10 PM

Tomorrow's Friday!

Paige - I hope your WI went well today. And I hope you went, even if it was just for the support of your group. And I agree with Kerry, maybe you should see someone about the hives and such. Are you allergic to anything that you know of?

Kerry - Good luck with the permanent job at your current location. I bet they're afraid of losing you. Good employees are hard to find. I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for you. Let us know as soon as you find out. Okay, maybe you can tell your DH first.

Kim - For what you eat in junk food, you more than make up with your exercise. Twice in one day! You go, girl!

Judy - I hope work lightens up on you. All work and no play is no fun!

Lori - You are definitely not the only one that's getting hungrier. It's your body adjusting to the exercising and dieting. I can be fine for quite a while, and then step my exercise up just a bit, and then I'm starving by dinner time. Or all the time, rather. I just try to drink more water. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't. I was also told that drinking cold, ice water will calm the hunger pangs, but I have sensitive teeth so I haven't tried it.

Marie - How is the larger breakfast working for you. Now that is Spring, I love all the fresh fruits and such. I make myself a huge fruit smoothie every morning. I drink it on the way to work. It fills me up, and because it's mostly fiber, it lasts for a while. You just gotta find what works for you.

Everything's fine here. Went for my walk in the rain last night. And then came home and gave my 90lb dog a bath. That's a workout in itself. We both felt better afterwards.

Have a great evening everyone.
Robin

Loud_Librarian 04-14-2005 05:23 PM

Robin - How do you make your smoothie (blender? or do you have a special machine) and what do you put in it? I'm super curious and it sounds YUMMY! :D

rtardif 04-14-2005 06:53 PM

Fruit Smoothies

I use a blender, and other than some base ingredients, I vary the fruit quite a bit. I almost always include a banana, about a tablespoon of orange juice concentrate, and some 1% or skim milk. Otherwise, I add various berries for a berry smoothie. I add pineapple and mango for a tropical smoothie. Or sometimes I do a peach/mango mix. The combinations are limited by what kind of fruit you like. I like most fruits. And when adding peaches and such, I include the skin. The orange juice concentrate gives it a little more sweetness and vitamin C. The banana and milk add calcium and potassium. I also use frozen fruits in the winter.

This morning I made my smoothy with the usual banana, ojc, milk, strawberries, and blackberries. I like to pick blackberries, huckleberries, and blueberries in the summer and fall and freeze them. I had some blackberries left over from this last time, so I'm trying to use them up.

They're really easy to make, taste good, are good for you, and are easy to clean up after. And they're filling.

Robin

rtardif 04-14-2005 06:56 PM

Also

I've also added about a tablespoon or two of wheat germ. I don't really taste it, but it does affect the texture some. And it provides other nutrients that at one time was told are important. I don't remember what they are now. And I'm currently out, myself.

Robin

judydc 04-14-2005 07:06 PM

Yaay! Two good things to report today: my scale FINALLY scootched down to 235, and I got through the day without killing anyone at the office! I can feel my body getting smaller, so it's been hard to be patient with the slow progress of the scale. And I've been very calm about things that would have sent me into a tailspin, and I think I've been pretty good about maintaining my composure despite some pretty bizarre stuff at work. So as you can tell, I'm feeling pretty good about myself at this moment  .

Hang in there, Paige! Remember where you've come from on this journey, and don't be discouraged. When I feel my energy flagging, I go over to the Success threads, and read about the barriers some of the women overcame to reach their goals, and then I feel like a real slacker! It's hard, but many people make it--we can, too!

Kim, good for you, working out twice a day! The most I can do on a day with a full workout is an extra 20-30 minute walk. My body complains when I go overboard, especially my knees. But if you can do it, more power to you!

Kerry, what if after all that, you didn't have to relocate to find a job? I'm keeping my fingers, crossed, too. Re the stress, I have been practicing different things for over a year, like hypotherapy and meditation. I'm not very good at them, but they have helped me from falling into my lifelong pattern of mentally rehashing s-it, and working myself into a lather of anger or depression (or using, food, alcohol or cigarettes to "calm" myself down). I'm not a religious person, but if I were, I would totally be relying on prayer.

Robin--my thoughts are with you, you have a lot to deal with. Good luck with your goal for the week, I hope you are satisfied with your progress so far!

Oh, and the smoothie question--I use one of those handheld blenders, almost every morning. I use a cup of frozen fruit (berries, peaches and mangoes are my faves), a spoon of ground flaxseeds, two scoops of protein powder and a little less than a cup of water. Works for me! When I use peavches, I often add ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. If you don't like protein powder, you can use milk or soymilk instead of water.

Be well, everyone--judy

lmatis 04-14-2005 07:17 PM

Hey Chickies!!
Yes almost Friday!!! I have to rush tonight to squeeze in work out and watch my shows! I've almost given up trying to watch TV more than one evening a night, there just isn't enough time!!

Kerry, talk about getting all excited about the options, why is it when your looking for a job you can't find one, but if you have one offer or take a job you seem to have 20 new offers?? Who knows, but I hope you get the one you want, and if it is staying put, so be it!

Robin and Kim, yes I did up my work outs so the intense hunger has to be related!! Thank you, and Kerry too for letting me know that it's normal! When my thyroid was over active, I was hungry ALL the time and ate like it was the last super daily! What scares me was how sick and weak I felt (wich I feel great now) It just gives me flash backs, I don't ever want to be that sick again!!!

Judy, glad your still doing good with as busy as you are! Remember keep checking in!!!

Paige, I hope things went well for you today and if they didn't DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP!!! Hives are just awful, I feel for you!! Don't feel bad, remember I was working out with two ingrown toe nails, a femal infection, and a splinter in my butt/thigh area that got way out of hand before I knew what it was! I was starting to think give up under wear all together !! Everything is healing and you will too!!!

kpe 04-14-2005 09:03 PM

Well I did not get to go to WI today, and I had really decided to bite the bullet and go. This morning my principal told me that she had to take her mom to the doctor this afternoon so I would need to get things started for a special event we had afterschool for our third and fourth graders so I wasn't able to get to the meeting. I am feeling alittle better about things and I really think that the weight gain is due to water retention and waiting for TOM to finally arrive. Tomorrow is a new day and I am really going to start the day off with a good attitude. The only problem is that tomorrow I have an all day training and they will have all kinds of snacks available and will be providing lunch. So I will take my own snacks and I am sure the lunch will be some kind of deli boxed lunch (it was last time). This is part of a two day training on classroom walkthroughs. Tomorrow I get my palm pilot for going to this training so they are showing us how to use it with their method of walkthroughs. The first session was in the fall. Last year they gave us laptops for going to a two day technology training. Pretty good for only a 2 day committment.

Kerry-good look with the potential offer tomorrow!!!

Everyone else.... Thanks for the support in helping me to get over this hump!!!!

Paige

kimberlydrn 04-14-2005 09:57 PM

Today has been another good day for me. I did a spin class, an ab class, and a step aerobics class. I'm paying for all of that binging I did Sunday and Tuesday. I've got to work 11p-7a tonight, so I won't have time to eat too unhealthy.

Kerry-Sounds like you're staying really busy. I'll be praying for that job offer. That's wonderful news!!!!!!

Robin-I had my first smoothie from TCBY a couple of days ago and LOVED it!! I need to invest in a smoothie maker or blender. Would you believe that I don't even own a blender? What would you recommend?

Judy-WOOOHOOOO on the 235!!!!! That's awesome! I love it when I see that scale move down.

Lori-Just a suggestion, but something that helps me is eating a handful of almonds after I work out. I love almonds, so it's a treat for me. They are very filling also.

Paige-Wow, a laptop, that would be nice. You're right, tomorrow is a new day for all of us, and it's going to be a good one! Have a great night!

kpe 04-14-2005 10:12 PM

Kim- I am so impressed after 3 classes you are still standing and have the energy to go to work tonight. I need some of that to rub off on me right about now!!!!

Paige

Girls, I have been reading the posts and tried to keep everything straight--but I have a confession...............

I just walked back from my sister and brother-in-law's house, and while I was there he brought out a bottle of vodka that I gave him for his birthday! I don't handle alcohol well ( I am a cheap drunk!), so while I am reading here, I can't keep anything straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me sober up and I'll check back tomorrow---I will be sleeping well tonight!

Joetta

rtardif 04-14-2005 11:48 PM

Tomorrow's Friday!

Hey Joetta, how many fingers am I holding up? That's so funny. I also don't handle alcohol very well, but I don't think I would have admited that I had too much to drink while I was on here. Although, it probably would have been funny to go back and read what I wrote the next day if I did. I can't spell when I'm sober.

Kim - Wow, three classes in one day. I should send my fat cells with you. You're such an inspiration. Keep it up! My blender is just a bottom line Hamilton Beach, probably around $25. But if you want to chop ice, I would recommend a little better one. Mine will do it, but it takes a while. I think the Hamilton Beach brand is a good one though.

Paige - Hang in there. Tomorrow is a new day and we'll face it together head on. I had a bad week, too. I've exercised some, but I've eaten really badly. Monday I had a huge donut and iced cookie, Tuesday I had six chocolate-chip cookies, I forget what I had yesterday, but today I had a candy bar, and a Dairy Queen M&M Blizzard. But tomorrow we'll start again. I promise you that I will eat correctly the rest of the week if you will, too. What do you say?

Judy - Congrats on the 235! Like Kim said, it great when the scale moves down!

Well, I gotta go. Thursday is my TV night, too. CSI is about to start. I love that show.

Yes it is 6:30 am and I am sitting here waiting for my lil bro to get in. He missed his interchange in Lexington and took the LONG way. Not really surprised since he had no directions/map when I spoke with him as he left town. I told DH he'd get lost. Silly kid! :p

So real quick while I'm sitting here.. .

WAY TO GO JUDY!! :bravo: :cp: That must feel great to see the scales move down and your hard work pay off. Keep it up!

And Joetta - :lol3:  :hat:  Thanks for a good laugh. I needed that.

I'll be back later today. Hopefully with good news! :crossed:

We get to stay here, DH gets to finish school where he started and I get paid more than I would anywhere else! :smug: I am so HAPPY! :)

Yaaay, Kerry! I'd drink a toast to you, but I'm afraid that Joetta's polished off the bottle :p Seriously, congratulations. Ain't it grand when things work themselves out?

Lori, congratulations on working up an appetite! It's funny, because sitting around doing nothing can also make you hungry, so at least now you have a good excuse. I keep a Balance bar or some almonds in my gym bag. At first I'd be ravenous on my way out of the gym, but now I'm more conscious of thirst, so I'm more likely to chug some water, then I don't feel particularly hungry.

Paige--I hope your training went well! Now that you have a Palm, you can download fitness programs onto it, or keep a journal in it.

Robin--I know that you will have a good week next week. Although I am a bit jealous--this is perfect weather for a Blizzard! A Hershey's ice cream parlor opened up right by my office, I have to walk past it every day. Luckily, ice cream gives me a stomachache now....although I think sorbet might not be a problem

Kim--you must be one of those iron-women-triathletes or something! Re smoothies, blenders are great, but if you'll never use it except to make smoothies, you might invest in one of those small hand-held blenders. They are much easier to clean than regular blenders. Some of them even have lids, so you can grab your smoothie and go.

Gotta head off to FedEx before the 6PM pick-up. Have a good evening!

Yeah Kerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome news. I am really glad that it worked out for you in the end. It has to be a major relief!!!

Joetta- You are too funny!! I hope you didn't pay for it this morning. Nothing worse then a hangover!!!

I was at a training all day and I have an awesome Palm. It really is capable of doing much more then I thought it would. I can't wait to get it all figured out. I did as well as I could they served gourmet hamburgers with all the fixins, chips and cobbler. I ate half of the hamburger (it was huge) and a small bite of cobbler and passed on the chips. I probably won't eat anything tonight. I am in better spirits and am looking forward to seeing how I do this week. I think the thing that upset me the most about the weight gain is that I was staying on plan, but still gaining. If I gain I want it be because I ate something really yummy!! But I was down a pound this morning so hopefully this is passing.

We have a busy weekend planned. The kids are having a spring festival at their school tomorrow and my mother in law is coming on Sunday (yipee). The good thing is she will be here Monday and I have to work, Mike and the kids will be home to entertain her.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!
Paige

kimberlydrn 04-15-2005 07:20 PM

Kerry-that is wonderful news!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you.

Judy-great advice, I think I will get one of those handheld ones, Thanks!

Paige-Great job with the food choices! I don't know if I could've done that.

Well, I'm off to work. Have a great weekend!

lmatis 04-15-2005 07:45 PM

Kerry, congratulatins!!! You have all been shuffeling in every direction, and wouldn't ya know it! So I guess this means we won't all have to drive U-haul and come pack??? Just kidding, this should work out great for you! Hope you and your bro have a great weekend!!!

Robin, I love watching CSI, although I'm finding it best to only watch one a week. I was really wasting a ton of time trying to watch all three nights, but it got so addicting! When they started re-runs and basketball a few weeks ago I was able to slightly break my habbit!!

Paige, I'm glad your outlook is better!! That darned old scale can be such a bad guy! Sounds like your going to have a busy, fun weekend!!! And way to go on the lunch, I'ld have crumbled, I LOVE burgers, they are second to pizza in my favorite book. But I am picky, I want real beef!!! That's what I'm planning for my Memorial day cheat, big burgers on the grill and cabbage and noodles! Oh I can't wait!!!

Judy, I upped my meal intake today and squeezed out 4 small meals instead of 2 big ones and a snack. It's about 7:30 here and I'm starting to get hungry again!! I guess I'll just have to eat again! Now I was warned (by some other 3FC's) not to be alarmed if I put on a couple pounds at first since I raised my weights, so don't let me forget this on way in Monday!!!

Joetta, I can't beleive you were able to log on and find us!!! I get those stupid beer googles and honestly can't function! Hope you made it to work and don't feel tooo bad!!!

Ok, I've really done it to myself now, that thing on my rear seems to be infected!! If you could all see this you'ld fall over laughing! It's in my crease of my leg and butt so I can't see it without a mirror and I'm trying to get peroxide on it! I swear, the older I get the more body parts fall off! At this rate they'll have to cash me in for a lower maintance model !!

I'm here alone so I'm going to eat and enjoy my piece and quite time!!!

KYColonel 04-15-2005 10:29 PM

WAY TO GO KERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really am so very happy for you!
Life is so much easier when you have stability.

I survived the vodka. This morning when I woke up, my first 3 thoughts were:

1. I've gotta wash my hair

2. Why didn't I wash it last night?

3. Oh, yeah.

Lori, when I read about your splinter, I am so sorry, but I laughed so hard that I was crying!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I was imagining trying to swab peroxide in that location in the condition that I was in last night. I now have mascara all over my face, thank you very much!

Speaking of pain in the butt, the girl at work that has given me fits the past few weeks finally had her last day today!!!! happy dance, happy dance!! I am starting to get her cases cleaned up, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! (okay, just my luck it will be an oncoming train) The new girls should work out very well, so life will get back to abbynormal, and I can venture back onto the scale and the cross country skiier again. The new carpet should be installed in the basement next week, then I will be able to get furniture back in place.......

Judy, good going girl! I know it gets so frustrating watching the scale drag, and in mine and Paige's instance, go back up, but we all have to keep our vision on the long run. We will all get where we wanna be--just not as quickly as we want to!!

Have a great weekend all!
Joetta

Good morning everyone!!!!! It is a beautiful Saturday morining here in Texas!!
The kids have their spring festival at school today so I am glad the weather is so nice since we will be outside most of the day.

My spirit is up and I have lost 2 of the 4lb gain!! Looking forward to WI on Thursday. I will need to go to the grocery store sometime today so I can cook for the week tomorrow. I am also going to try and squeeze in a pedicure today if possible. If I am going to be wearing sandels then I need to get my feet taken care of. I could have a pedicure everyweek if I had the time. They are wonderful!!!!!

Hope everyone enjoys the day!!!!

Paige :balloons:

Loud_Librarian 04-16-2005 09:59 AM

First of all - THANKS!!! All the support from you ladies makes me feel great. I am so relieved about so many things now. :cloud9:

Paige - Way to go on the loss!!! Keep it up! (I'm really jealous of your palm too!) BTW - I've never had a pedicure! Can you believe that? I guess I am so cheap I figure I can just do it myself. I'd really LOVE to have one though. Do they also help with nasty calouses? I have awful scaley heels. DH hates them!!

Joetta - I am so glad that things are getting back to normal for you. Speaking of pains in the butts  I'm also glad that girl is out of your life and hopefully the new girl will work out perfectly. :crossed:

Lori - Now that is a serious pain in the behind! That's one of the times that I would insist on DH's help and then scream at him the whole time to be gentle! I hope it gets better soon!

Robin - I watch CSI as well, but I too got overwhelmed when they started having all the spin-offs and I tried to watch them too. Now I'm back to watching just CSI, but find I'm not always as interested. Any LOST fans out there? I am totally addicted to this show! I came in mid-season and caught up online. It is by far the best show on tv right now.

Judy - I hope you're enjoying your weekend and that scale continues to go down for you. It sounds like you have been doing great at staying on plan and even enjoying your life changes. Good for you! :)

Kim - It sounds like we both have intentions of joining the smoothie posse. I really think this will make a wonderful treat for me. I've been doing some reading and some recipes call for non-fat yogurt. Any comments anyone?

I had a wonderful indulgent celebration dinner last night, but I brought half of it home. I ordered 1/2 rack ribs w/bbq chick breast and white chedder mashed potatoes. :eating2: We also had an appetizer. Now I have leftovers to enjoy. I honestly could not stuff myself like I once could. I guess that's a good thing. And out of fear I peaked at the scale this morning and I REALLY liked what I saw! I hope it's still looking good at Mondays WI.

TTYL Chickies!

lmatis 04-16-2005 10:02 AM

Good Morining Chickies :coffee:!!
It is beautiful here in PA too Paige, the sun is shinning and the wind finally calmed down! I think the boys and I will bike ride later this evening!
Paige, I know most people love pedicures, but I can't stand anyone touching my toes or feet. If my ingrowns grow out I may start wearing sandels again, but I'll do my own pedicure!!

Joetta, glad to see you survived the Vodka, and your welcome for the laugh! It was pretty funny sober, drunk, I would have been on the floor looking even dumber!! But my butt does feel better today, but I'm going to put more peroxide and ointment on it after I work out this morning.

I peeked at that scale this morning and I'm not looking as if I'll have a weight loss at all this week, although we will wait and see what happens by Monday, it's not looking too promising now. I did measure myself this morining and it's going to make the no weight change all better! I've lost a total of 6 inches of my waist and 3 off my hips. A couple inches here and there all over the rest.

I'm going to run so I can work out, I'll check in later today!!

Kerry, you snuck a post in while I was typing, left over are the bomb! I know I could never eat what I used too! Packing up half the food is the best idea ever thought up. Many people order a to go container with there order and pack it up before they even start eating!

Judy, I'm such a shmuck, way to go on the weight loss!!! I kept meaning to say that and then remember I didn't! It is so easy to lose track on here!!!

lmatis 04-17-2005 08:07 AM

Good Morning Chickies :coffee: !!!
Where is everybody??? I hope your all having a good weekend! I don't know but I think it went by way too fast! I have so much to do today, laundry, go to the store, and that promised bike ride with the kids. My yongest son is such a turkey to ride with, he wants a break every 200 ft. I hope this year he does better! I woke up, before the sun came up, and I thought it was Monday morning! I was so stinken mad for about a mintue then realized that I could go back to sleep it was Sunday!! Well I've got to get the laundry started, so I'll check back!

kpe 04-17-2005 11:18 AM

Wow, by the lack of posts this weekend I assume everyone must be enjoying the weekend. It has been beautiful here. We tried to get out for a while yesterday but DD woke up not feeling well and has done nothing but throw up since. She was starving this morning so I am crossing my fingers that she keeps her toast down. DH had already taken tomorrow off because the kids don't have school. So if she isn't feeling well by tomorrow at least that will be covered and I won't have to take the day off.

I got a new video yesterday called Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss so I plan to check it out today. So far I have lost 3 of the 4 lbs that I gained last week. So I am feeling a whole lot better about things and I feel like have gotten myself back into the grove of things.

Plans for the day include a quick trip back to the grocery store, I am going to try a few new recipes and don't have everything I need. Then I plan on cooking for the day and doing laundry. Yipeeeeeee!!! Another fun filled Sunday!!

Enjoy your day ladies!!!!!

Happy Beautiful Day to Everyone!

Reporting from Kentucky---Glorious Sunshine! Am going later to my neice's b'day get together at a fun park--go carts, putt-putt golf, etc. What a day to be outside!!!!

LOST fans? Yep, count me in. I was at a hotel with a sound asleep hubby last year, so I turned on the tube and just watched the first thing that came on--looked like a movie about an airplane crash, so I watched.....little did I know that it would become a habit for me. I enjoy the twists.

Good going on the inches and lbs lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loud_Librarian 04-17-2005 02:02 PM

I'm around. I've been busy with my brother here and then I went to a bridal shower yesterday for friend. I had to drive about an hour away and didn't get home until 10. Then I talked on the phone the rest of the night since DH was out projecting and my BF in Maui was making dinner and had plenty of time to chat.

I'm so peeved with DH  He has a huge project due today and he procrastinated until the last minute. He's been up all night and is still working. It is due at 2pm (right now) and he isn't done. He broke our printer in the process so now I have to buy a new one. I guess he's turning it in late. I don't understand putting everything off until the last minute. I also have little sympathy.

So now he's going to be grumpy and tired for the rest of today. He'll probably sleep. I intend to take Bella to the park because we both need the fresh air and exercise. I too need to hit the grocery and do some laundry to be ready for next week.

I'm looking forward to WI tomorrow, bc I think I've managed to lose some more. :) I'm looking into joining a gym next week. I'm thinking something simple at first and then if I use it I might go for a YMCA membership later. There's a decent fitness place within walking distance of our house.

Oh and I must mention that we're considering buying a house now!! :) I can hardly believe it is all falling into place! YAY!
