Hello All!
Just returned from the back-to-school vortex I have been in for the last week - sheesh! My kids appear to be settling in, for that I am grateful. I just registered for some continuing education, so it will soon be back to school for me also. I'm taking some distance courses through Portland State to keep my teaching credential current. I picked "Exploring the Internet - 1" - yes they give graduate credit for that! Since I've already taken web curriculum classes, this should be easy. The other class is "Brain-based Learning" - sounds kind of "duh", but it should really be pretty interesting.
Jana- Good luck on all your check-ups. I did that over the summer, it's nice to have that peace of mind. I bet your docs will be mighty impressed with your weight loss and will comment on your improved health.
Julie - If you and your fiance already know about his volume and motility issues, that means you are consulting a specialist already, I take it? Having been down this road, I think you are wise to get things checked out now. My DH and I started consulting a fertility doc in our 30s, and it takes time to check out all the possibilities. ivillage used to have a really good area on fertility issues - helped us out immensely when we were trying to conceive DD. I had endometriosis, but not terribly advanced. Just the sperm-killing type. If you watch Sex and the City, it's the same kind of infertility that the character Charlotte had. And look at me now! 10 years later, I have two kids who are just great - but they do talk an awful lot. No one tells you these things .....
Susan- was telling DH last night that I need to call you.... Sorry Gaby's dad is being a poop. If you can swing the part time... it sounds like it could simplify your life.
Marti - hi ho hi ho it's off to work we go! We need to figure out a new chat time when you get settle in to your new work hours.
Cristi - ooo wasps. When we moved into our house 5 years ago the landscaping was pretty overgrown and we had to have five nests removed. My DH declared all-out war when one of the little buggers stung our then 2.5 year old son right on his little manhood when he was splashing around in the kiddie pool. None of us are happy to see them, let me tell you!
Mindee - hope things improve with the ILS. I have great ILs, I must say. DH and I have an agreement that we each deal with our own families. We pretty much stay out of each other's family dynamic as much as possible (when it gets negative) and after being together 18 years, it has worked rather well. If Tommy's family gets their kicks from excluding you, then it's their loss and it sounds like you have a man who will stick up for you which is essential. I just had to call my dad on the carpet during our vacation, as he was laying into my DH over something stupid. Unprovoked I might add. David is way too polite to put my Dad in his place, but I'm not

Then again, I feel it is my responsibility to set the boundaries there.
Laura - (((((Big Hugs))) Sounds like you had a bad day - hope today is better.
Hi to Shanna and Angie and Jen and anyone else I may have forgotten. I'm off to find a core-friendly polenta recipe. Think I may just make some plain old mush, then broil it in the toaster oven. BTW - I didn't reallly try to stay OP at the Mexican restaraunt. I had a lo-carb dinner - dungeness crab enchilada witha mixed green salad. It may have been lo-carb, but that's the ONLY lo thing about it. It was so good! So, my little dietary thrill ride is over and I'm back OP. Because of my little indulgence, my weight stayed the same at this week's weigh in
Oh well - comme ce, comme ca
Happy day to everyone!
Katy
