Hi, ladies! I hope that you are all enjoying some well-deserved down-time. :flow2:

Carol, did you have a nice evening with your grandson? I have twin nieces who are around the same age, are they are hysterical. They would definitely vote for pizza.

Julie, thanks for the cheers! I hope I can get down a few more pounds this month. I struggle with staying on program when I'm traveling and when I have lots of social events, both of which are true, starting tomorrow. So I've been reminding myself of my mini-goal and my 2005 goal, and will make a point of meditating in the mornings, to clear my head. Anyway, watch out for the hair-raising shocks :fr: I hope you get some nice surprises this week to balance out the nasty ones.

I didn't make it to the gym this morning. I got a late start, paying bills and chatting with a neighbor who I hadn't seen in a while. So I didn't have a morning snack, and I will take a long walk this afternoon. I came to work this afternoon, but I'm not getting much done, so I'll pack up soon and give it up. If I don't check in for a few days, it's because I didn't have easy access to a computer on the road. I'll definitely be back on Wednesday.

Until then, make good choices!

Hi All

I've had a rough couple of days. I'm dealing with some stuff(business-going through records etc...) regarding my husband's death and I'm sitting with some intense feelings. It makes me feel physically sick--sore throat, headache, tension. I've been getting support but that doesn't take the pain away. I just have to feel it and get through it. My eating choices have been so-so. I had ice cream 2 nights ago and sugar free-fat free ice cream last night. I have my (not so little) girl to think of and that's good. I'll be dealing with some of this stuff today while she's away at a friends house. Thanks for listening.

:( :stress: :headache: :kickcan: :( :(

Breakfast: wasa crackers with goat cheese

lunch: smoothie

dinner: tuna salad

I don't feel like cooking.

Sorry about the depressing post. That's me today. It wont last forever.

Your posts are such a comfort. I love that you are all doing so well. I'm going to try to make it to the gym today.

Thanks for the support.

Love, Roll

Hello everyone it was a busy weekend lots going on. My intake was a bit off but not too bad it will all balance out I figure. We didn't have pizza the other night because my grandson had a cold and only said he wanted hot soup. So tomatoe soup it was out of the can with some crackers. He was happy with that. Since I had a ruebuen sandwich for lunch tomatoe soup was good for me too! We had fun together he went to the craft store and bought some safari animals plastic nicely designed and wants to collect them. He started off with water wild life. There is a whole collection of them nice to get into collecting and pretty reasonable on the pocket book. I took him for a hair cut also and he played on the computer and made a shoe box jungle and painted it up. We did some creative things and it was fun.
No real exercise this weekend and I got done with Tom and thats never a fun time. So today I will exercise after work. The sun is shining brightly today but its only going to be around 30.
Rollmdl as Julie said we are here for you never feel bad about sharing your feelings. This is a supportive site and we are here for you. Things will get easier down the road for you it takes time and you are going through all the emotions and thats important. My sister lost her husband at 48 suddenly and its hard I know from seeing her go through it. But its been 10 years and she lives a different life now but he is never forgotten by any of us. Take care and one step at a time.
Judy sounds like you got it together there with balancing your good times out of town. It sometimes takes just a little more exercise to balance out those times but your getting it down.
Julie your intakes look good. Hey God is just seeing how much you can carry on your shoulders. Maybe you need to ask him to lighten up your load for a bit and let you just hang in there for a bit. You sure have had a lot of stuff over the past 6 months. I guess you could look at it as he is making you stronger? But how strong does one need to be????????? Your doing good with your attitude and intakes. Thanks for the info. on the mag. and I will see if I can get it here?
Intake: 1 whole wt. english muffin 110 w/ jam 50
Snack 1 yogurt 90 w/ few walnuts
Lunch; spinach salad 2 cups, made w/ peanuts, gala apple 1/2, tangerines, o.j.and balsamic vinegar w/ spices. 250 cals.
Dinner? we will see later on

I'm Living 03-14-2005 04:10 PM

HI, :love:ly LADIES, thanks for the kind words, and your right maybe GOD is seeing how much I can carry ;) I look at it this way at the moment I,m still a bit on the heavy side so maybe the lighter I get the lighter my burdens will be  I hope your grandson is feeling better maybe him feeling just like some soup was your blessing in disguise, no pizza  has got to be a good thing ;) :) HEY ROLL how you doing , hang in there hope the day wasn,t too stressful for you, PLAN FOR TODAY

Thank You

I got through yesterday with lots of help. Thank you so much for your kind wishes and smiley faces. I have a really big week this week and I get to end it by going to traffic school!!!! I'm actually looking forward to it ---8 hours of no stress. :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

I did the water aerobics class this morning. It really covers a lot of bases for me--resistance training, aerobics and stress reduction---being in the water is so soothing.

Yesterday I found my TWELVE YEAR OLD daughter in the kitchen wrapping low-fat cottage cheese and ginger marmalade in iceburg lettuce leaves--like a wrap.

My eating plan for the day:

breakfast: chicken salad with celery(always the traditionalist)

lunch: whole grain bread w/ egg salad

snack: orange

dinner: well, I am making the pot roast recipe from this months Cooks Illustrated.............and potato bread and we'll have cantelope wrapped in prosciutto and my friend is bringing Caesar salad. I won't eat till I'm sick, but I'm thinking that what I DO eat is not going to be low cal. Every once in a while..................

My friend is also my daughter's contact person from the charter school that she is signed up with. Whenever we meet, we have a meal---usually good.

So, thanks again for your kindness.

Carol, you didn't mention whether you'd gotten any new clothes when you went shopping with your friends.

Julie, bummer about the medical bills. I had the same surprise when I had my butt exam. It was MUCH more than I'd anticipated. My insurance has been raised 20% in the last year

Well, I've gotta go tend to business. I've got to get ready for tonight.

Love to you all,

Roll

cacmsc 03-15-2005 07:08 AM

Rollmdl I haven't gone on my shopping spree yet in May. That is a weekend trip to Toronto about 4.5 hrs away. It is a beautiful area and lots of shops it should be a fun trip just the four girls. I also got invited yesterday to go to Saratoga Springs another nice area with horse racing at the end of July. I think I might try to go I have never been and always wanted to go. I better start saving. My hubby isn't into traveling so when I get the chance to go with others I try to do so. I need sometimes to be a bit selfish and do those things. He is really good about it and always tells me to go so I guess I am lucky there. Glad your doing well and I could do the water exercises too! I am going today to workout. Your dinner with friends sounded wonderful wish I was there to enjoy it.
Julie your doing well with the intakes and thanks for the info. on gr. tea. Is that all teas? Silly question but just wondered. I had some gr. tea last night . I read that it lowers your chol. and risk of cancer etc. It is really good for many things. I was in the mood for something hot and it hit the spot. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday but did do more walking throughout my day. Today I promised myself to get there. I had to go get new tires ordered for my car. Two for 199.00 wow! Who ever let me get those fancy type of tires to start with? Thinking I was going to be sporty I guess. Now I will pay the price. There is never a dull momment in any of our lives. But I guess as you know someone else always has something much worse so we must be grateful. You sure have had your share and hopefully things will be looking up for you! At least for your health you are taking the upper hand and controlling things. Good for YOU!
Judy and Tired where are you girls we miss hearing from you both! I that move it to lose it how true! It is like my don't be a slug! I read about adding grapefruit in our diets great benefits.
Intake: break= 1 whole wt. eng. muffin w/ jam 160 cal. , oatmeal w/ splenda, walnuts
snack= yogurt
lunch= 1% cottage cheese on a bed of lettuce w/ 1 tangerine cut into it.
soy chips 7 gr. protein 120 cal.
Snack= 1/2 grapefruit
Dinner? will decide later I have to get groceries!

rollmdl 03-15-2005 11:54 AM

Good Morning All

I'm feeling better today, thanks for your support. The dinner last night was fun and my friend and I had a good conversation about our lives etc... I didn't end up tracking my food yesterday.

Today

breakfast: whole grain bread with egg salad

lunch: hummus salad (going to a Mediterranean restaurant for lunch with a friend)

snack: orange

dinner: vegetable soup with a beef base

The horrible food I ate yesterday was girl scout cookies. Yuck. My friend is so supportive of her friends that when the kids sell cookies she buys them. I'm thinking she gave them to me to get rid of them.

     I'm so spoiled by home cooking and baking. They tasted like sawdust with sugar but I ate SIX with warm milk before going to bed last night.

Think I was trying to comfort myself?

I got enough sleep last night and for that I am grateful. I'm not feeling as hopeless as I was a few days ago.

My dishwasher broke yesterday.

Maybe I'm just out of touch with reality.

:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

Well, gotta go take my girl to her piano lesson.

Carol, what great motivation, having a shopping date planned for a specific time in the future!

Julie, move it to lose it, good idea. I'm going to the gym today while my daughter is at her swim practice.

Love to all,

Roll

Wow Bones I Found Them, Yippee

GOOD MORNING  :love:ly ladies, glad to see you bounced back ROLL, your water aerobics sound good I would love to give that ago, but our pools in the country are only open in the summer months it was good when I was in the city they have heated pools there open all year round oh well I guess you trade one thing for another I opted for piece and quiet in asmall country town and that is better than the hussle and bussle of civilization any day  I,m glad your daughter likes the ginger marmalade, her combo on lettuce leaves sounds yummy I,ll have to give it ago, I,m like you I prefer home cooked these days to bought , when you,ve learnt healthy substitutes making them yourself with low fat and cal ingredients others just lose something in the eating which is a plus if we don,t enjoy it we may be tempted if there is nothing else but more likely to give it a miss the next time, you are doing so well I wouldn,t let a few cookies worry you the same as I,m not going to let my littel slip of having a handful of chips yesterday bother me , my defence is hubby bought them home I love my chips and he is a real test for my will power, BUT IT FELT SO GOOD WHEN HE GAVE ME A CUDDLE AND TOLD ME HE COULD FEEL MY HIP BONES, I FORGOT I EVEN HAD THEM OR COLLAR BONES WHICH I AM NOW JUST STARTING TO SEE PEEP THROUGH ;) your dinner sounded good with your friend a splurge now and then is good on ww there is no such thing as forbidden  food everything is allowed just in moderation and somethings as treats now and then , CAROL you have so many things planned I think it is good to have a break from your other half now and then it helps them to appreciate you more when you get back ;) even better when your hubby is  with it, YES CAROL that means all teas herbal are best next to green tea but any tea can be considered part of your water intake as long as you leave out the sugar and milk :) ;) bad luck about the tyres I know what you mean our car is do for rego and hubby has to get 2 new tyres they really can get up there in price, these days I think having a car comes under a luxury item something you only use when you have too :dizzy: HEY TIRED , JUDY HOPE YOUR WELL MISS YOU BOTH , WELL MY PLAN FOR THE DAY
BREKKI/ BOWL OF FRUITY BIX LIKE LITTLE WHEAT BIX, EARL GREY TEA
SNACK/ APPLE, GREEN TEA
LUNCH, YOU GAVE ME AN IDEA ROLL, I,M GOING TO HAVE A CURRIED EGG ON WHOLEMEAL TOAST, GREEN TEA

I'm Living 03-16-2005 01:53 AM

HI, everyone just a check in, more to offload rather, I,m feeling a bit blue at the moment just when I thought the last 16 months couldn,t get worse I was wrong they did hubby just came home and told me it looks like they are going to let him go from work, he hurt his back 2 weeks ago lifting a heavy lounge and after 8 months on the job they think he may not really be suited to the job after all, things just keep getting worse his ex wife is really screwing hin for every cent she can get , we are just paying our bills now with not much left over I don,t know how we,ll manage if they put him off, I,m worried we may have to sell our house just to get us out of debt, sorry to go on and be in such a downer, just really needed to vent I tried to ring my friend but she isn,t home, well take care, bye for now, JULIE

cacmsc 03-16-2005 06:44 AM

Oh Julie my heart goes out to you and the hubby. X's can be awful sometimes I'

cacmsc 03-16-2005 07:05 AM

Sorry my message messed up. Anyways its surely not fair all that has been sent your way. But things always have a way of working out. That company where he hurt his back surely should be held responsible for his injury. Our laws here my be different than yours. I will surely be thinking of you. Give yourself a hug from me! You can unload anytime not a problem thats what friends are for. Support is a good thing and unloading always seems to help a bit. We should always feel that on this site we can do that when its needed!
As far as your chips go sometimes we just need to have a few. But look at it this way back a few months or so ago you might of ate a lot more at least I would have. You are in control of what goes in and how much! I have been trying to get in my tea, I enjoy having a good cup of tea at my break time.
Rollmdl I am glad your feeling better about things. We all go through rough times. We just got our Girl Scout cookies in 3 boxes only. My oldest daughter took home one box last night. I am glad as less for me to get into. So far I haven't opened them but thin mints are my all time favorite. Once I start its hard to stop! I wish I didn't like them. We pay 3.00 a box here how much are yours? I tried to get that ginger marmalade and can't find it here. I have a few more places to ck. out.
Guess I better start my day. I did work out last night after work. It was a good workout 1 hr. I was sure hungry afterwards. I read that when we build muscle that our calories we burn on a daily basis automatically increase. I still wish I had that pool you use. A friend of mine is starting to run the spin class a biking class. That usually bothers my leg. But he insists I must be having it on the wrong level? I will ck it out this week. Today is a long day for me as I have to do a late appt. so I think I may fit in a walk inbetween appts.
Intake; Breakfast= 1 wh.wt. english muffin 120 cal. jam 50 cal. 1/2 grapefruit 20 cal.
Snack= gr. tea yogurt 90 cal.
Lunch?
Have a great day! Yesterdays cals 1450!

I'm Living 03-16-2005 08:45 AM

HI,and thanks for the kind words CAROL, don,t have much to say I,m sort of off the planet at the moment, you girls must think I,m worse than a rerun of some sort of TV show, I wish I could just switch it off or change chanels, that would make life easier, hey maybe I was a SAINT in my past life and I,m paying penance for someone else in this life, yeah I know don,t roll your eyes its just a thought who knows , well bye for now, JULIE

cacmsc 03-17-2005 07:02 AM

Julie your always there for us when we need support. If you keep your thoughts bottled up it doesn't help you at all. I am glad that you express your feelings and I am sure that everyone else feels the same. It gives us a license to do the same. When people become friends they try to help one another. On this site even though in person we have never meet we feel a friendship that has been built through our interests, challenges and our goals we have set for ourselves. Tell me you haven't been there for the rest of us when we are having some ups and downs. Okay then!
Just take a deep breath and continue to do your best each day thats all any of us can do.
Yesterdays intake wasn't a total mess but I did have an unexpected invite for dinner at a clients group home. They were celebrating St. Pats day with lots of goodies. I didn;t do bad bad but ate a few extra calories. I was around 1700 calories yesterday. I did try to watch it while I was there but its not easy. I did eat the smallest cookie. They brought home a couple and my little grandson polished them off. It was a nice time and the house staff put on a great party for the residence. Its nice to see such involvment going on . It made me feel good and of course their was my client singing an irish tune. That was the best!
Today I am going to get to the gym for my exercise. My intake today won't be my normal after all it is St. Pats day. I am going to make cornbeef in the crock pot w/ cabbage, carrots and potatoes. The girls have also decided at work to order lunch out so it will be cornbeef on rye what else could I have? Oh my salad can't cut it today!
Take care and hang in there everyone Rollmdl , Tired, Judy where are you all?????????
Miss yah!

Well everyone I am checking in today. Yesterday with St. Pats Day I ate a bit off for sure. But I know today that I will get right back to watching my intakes. In the Ab Diet book he reccomends people have one day a week that they eat their special wants and desires as long as the the other 6 days you watch it. I think thats not such a bad idea. I have been picking up some new info. from that book. It is very interesting line of thoughts and ideas. I think if you get something from many different sources and use a little from each it works out just fine. Today I am going to go workout, the sun is shinning and the birds are coming back Spring! I am looking forward to good weather and a chance to walk around the lake etc.
Intake: 2 poached eggs, dry rye toast, potatoes 1/2 order, coffee , water

Hi All

Julie,
I have been thinking of you and my prayers are with you. What Carol says about taking a breath and doing your best each day is what has gotten me through. When I am feeling really overwhelmed and hopeless, I call this one friend, knowing what he will say to me, "Right now, do you have a roof over your head? Right now, do you have food in the refridgerator?" There is only so much we can do about the future. Blow off all the steam you want here. We all do it and some of us (like me) do more than others.
My job here is to support and love and I don't feel thrown off balance or pressured to fix anything if any one here is in distress. Prayers and loving thoughts.

My daughter has the flu so we're staying home today. No gym for me. We could both use the rest.

My plan for the day

breakfast (already a thing of the past) : scrambled eggs w/ provolone and prociutto with the fat cut off

lunch: tuna salad---lots of vegetables

dinner: CHICKEN VEGETABLE SOUP

Snacks: an orange and a pear

lots of water---I don't want to get sick!!!!!

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed today (is there such a thing as a little overwhelmed?) Maybe, once again, I am out of touch with reality. There is only so much I can do at any given moment. I just have to make sure I make the right choices. Old behavior/thinking: I don't know what to do next, I guess I'll find guidance in the kitchen.

:hungry:

Thanks for being here,

Roll

Don't ya'll miss Tired?

I'm Living 03-18-2005 10:34 PM

GOOD AFTERNOON, :love:ly :angel:s  CAROL I hope you enjoyed ST PATRICKS DAY, I follow the plan of 6 days on 1 day off I found that out in one of my slimming mags, my day off is usually Saturday, hubby likes to go to the local RSL CLUB for dinner and have a nice chinese meal, he loves my stir fries and the chinese dishes I do but he likes to give me a day off , so it works out good , on that day I have what ever I like from chocolate to a mixed grill if I feel like it, of course the old rule of in moderation still applies ;) I have what ever I like but don,t make a :ink:gy of myself  useing this plan does keep me on track as I don,t feel I,m missing out on anything ;) :D I,m glad your starting to get warmer weather the walk around your lake sounds lovely it helps if you have somewhere nice to walk you know your exercising but it doesn,t feel like it, ROLL thank you for the kind words, my friend well she is more than a friend she is a kindred spirit , she says the same as long as I have food on the table and shelter and my bills are getting paid even if they are late at times then that is what matters I don,t have control over what is going to happen so just take one day at a time and deal with the other if and when it happens, I know these are wise words my hubby says the same thing but he is an optimist and I,m a pessimist, I always see the black side off things, I hope your daughter feels better, I don,t like lemons that much so if I feel a cold coming on I put about a dessert spoonful of ginger marmalade in a mug of hot water with a squeeze of lemon juice, it helps settle the tummy, and clears the head, and because it is warm and sweet it makes you feel special too, it sounds like the day off from the gym is well deserved :) YES there is such a thing as a little overwhelmed things are getting a bit on top of you but not to the point where you want to give up, :nono: :nono: :nono: YOU WILL NOT FIND GUIDANCE IN THE KITCHEN, IF YOU FEEL DOWN THAT IS WHERE THE  IS WAITING FOR YOU  why don,t you and your daughter play a board game if she is up to it, I find if I feel like comfort eating I get my hubby to play scrabble or monopoly with me it might not do much for him but it gets my mind focused on something else, so unless your in the kitchen fixing something for your daughter or your planned eating for the day STAY OUT OF THERE, ;) :D YES I do miss TIRED, her and JUDY must have jumped ship, I hope they get back on board soon we most certainly need thier support and wisdom, I,ve changed mode of transportation for this journey to weight loss I,ve got off the train and jumped on a boat I need some calming karma at the moment and water is soothing,   I know I have lost the plot, but these days it helps to keep my sense of humour, well I,m off for a :coffee: thank you for being there all of you, be good, stay focused, BLESSED BE , JULIE

cacmsc 03-19-2005 07:19 AM

Hello girls! Well there is only a few of us here now but we will make the best of it. Hopefully our friends will return soon! Meanwhile lets do our best to keep this ship going.
I did not make it to the gym yesterday so that means only 1 time this week not my goal so I will get there this a.m. . for a 1 hour work out. I finally feel like I am making some progress with my workouts and intake. Yesterday I did get into my mom's banana bread naughty girl I was! It could of been a bit worse and it was I ate 2 of those dang thin mint girl scout cookies. Since then I put the bread in the downstairs freezer for Easter and the cookies out of sight. I am telling you if its there I am tempted without a doubt. But the good news is I did lose another lb. as I said before I lose slow. But I feel like I have lost inches and others have commented on my loss. So that made me feel good. I just think if I didn't eat..... maybe I would of lost more or if I did reach that exercise goal????????? Oh well no sense in crying over spilled milk. I at least moved those numbers! I made a good dinner last night which was steamed shirmp in some garlic w/ a little bit of I can't bel. its not butter , little parm. ch.,, broiled salmon in lemon , pepper 3oz., cabbage salad homemade. That was before my mess up w/ those goodies. Tonight I am going out to dinner with a friend after we go to the Home and Garden show at the fair grounds.
Julie I like that idea of 6 days on one day off. I think I may start that next week. Its kind of a perk for doing well 6 days. I also have read that if you eat lower some days and a bit higher the next then back down again it sparks you metabolism? Have you heard of that too?
Rollmdl I hope your little one is feeling better it isn't fun being sick and feeling off. Hope you don't get it eat healthy and try some green tea. I have learned to really enjoy that lately. Your doing fine watch out for those kitchen devils I think one sliced me up that banana bread last night and gave me cookies. There tough to fight off sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sun is shinning today here and thats so nice to see.
Well I am off to get my new tires at the tune of 220.00 for 2 and prob. a wheel ck.up too! Who ever said I needed that sporty looking car. Now its costing me can't get regular tires but low profile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank the God for a coupon that saved me 25%. But it still hurts. Boy we have all been having some fun with finances huh?
Intake: coffee, 1 banana sm., bagel w/ f/f cream cheese
Lunch; smoothy w/ nonfat yogurt, skim milk. fruit and flax seed
snack: 1 pear
Dinner; out I will try to be good! EXERCISE ======1hr.
Enjoy your day girls and take care!

Hi All

My daughter is still under the weather. We watched a few dvds yesterday and I was none to good in the eating department. I made some chicken vegetable soup today and am back on track. Carol, you are doing so well with your exercise. It's supposed to be much better for your system to lose weight slowly. If we lost only one lb. a week............. Also, your eating sounds like normal, healthy eating. Your menus sound tasty so your aren't depriving yourself, but not indulgent so you're not eating copious amounts of food that will harm your health.

Julie, I am trying to take care of my sweet tooth with fruit. So far so good today. I'm going to try the ginger marmalade lemon tea and make some for my girl, too.

Well, I don't feel so talky today. Just wanted to touch base.

Take care, all,

Love,
Roll

Rollmdl and Julie that tea sounded so good. I just had breakfast with the hubby. He wasn't so excited about my pancakes I must say! I made out of Irish oatmeal pancakes w/ nonfat yogurt, walnuts etc. I thought they were different but tasty. I will freeze the rest to warm up in the microwave in the future. Well I know today is the first day of spring here! Hurray! We made it! We are expected to get some freezing rain today though. At anyrate I was up early and got my catalog order ready for my flower beds and my garden. Lots of good veggies. I love to garden and have many flower beds my goal is to retire and sell plants from my gardens. That is kind of an inside joke and gives me reason to keep building bigger beds. I loved the home and garden show. Lots of ideas, dreams and hopes. I am going to take a week off this summer to make a stone patio in the back yard. I am lucky enough to of known a landscaper whom his given me almost enough bricks and stones from left over jobs. So all I have to do is move them home, design and research this project. Then it will be making it all happen and I will do that. I look forward to doing this and just think of the great exercise it will produce! Hah Hah! Anyways it will be challenge for me. Well I have to say I don't always make the best choices of what I eat and do also like goodies. But it seems as I have said to be easier to eat part of something and either share it with someone or freeze it or throw it away. I did eat 1/2 of a choc. chip cookie at the show. My friend and I went for dinner and I had chicken parm. it wasn't the best I ever had that was for sure. But I ate it all except the pasta only a 1/3 of that. But later had choc. pie at her home w/ coffee. I left the crust that at least was a step in the right direction. Every little bit counts I figure.
Rollmdl boy everyone seems to of had some sickness lately. Here sinus problems seem to be on the rise. Hope your little one is doing better. Try to give her some pretzels the salt is suppose to replinish your system and help you feel less achy. Julie hope your doing okay?
I just realized yesterday that wow next sunday is Easter. I have a big egg hunt here and all the kids in the family come. I do about 100 plastic filled eggs and scatter them around our yard. The kids love it. But we have about 1 1/2 ft. of snow left thats not good. I hope it all melts then that means mud. Oh dear! At any rate I have to do some cleaning today to get ready. Also make sure my silverware and china are clean and ready. It will be a fun day for everyone and I love to do it all. Lots to do thank God for friday off. Well gotta go get dressed and start to clean. I will try to get out for a walk today. Girls I do actually feel like this jouney is working for me. It took awhile but I think we are all headed down the right path. Hurray for all of us because together with support we can do this.
Coffee, water , gr.tea
Intake: oatmeal pancakes , w/ a little pure syrup and can't bel. its not butter,1/2 banana, coffee
Snack: 1 pear
Lunch: smoothie w/ yogurt, peanut butter,1/2 banana, frozen strawberries, whey powder and ice.
Dinner: spahetti sauce w/ turkey sausage and a couple of meatballs whole wheat pasta
Snack: soy choc. ice cream bar

Hey, there--

Just a a quick howdy, will have more time tomorrow to catch up. I've been away from a computer for a few days, then swamped with work and out of town guests. My week was fun but too much good food and drink was involved :^: . I feel good about my exercise, though, and am feeling pretty upbeat despite not earning a single gold start between Sunday and Friday!

More on Monday! I've missed your 'voices,' and I'm looking forward to being in touch again.

Judy hey fiting the exercise in will help no matter what social events take place. Its when we skip that we really get in trouble personnally speaking of course. Look forward to hearing your info. soon.
Today I am up early and decided the only real way to fit in my exercise today without making myself an excuse is to go this a.m.. I have a few afernoon sites to visits and will end up on the opposite side of town afterwards. So I will go this morning. I didn't get there yesterday but did a bit of up and moving this weekend. My daughter was talking about water exercise at the local YMCA. I might ck it out to see how much it would cost just to do the course if its possible. I think it would be fun!
I just had breakfast and packed my lunch so I am going off now to start my busy day. I figure no excuse for cheating or over eating this week and exercise is a must with Easter on sunday. I want to beable to indulge in the goodies I don't always have. I guess preplanning is my idea today. Have a great day I will ck in later.

Good Morning All

Hi,

I went to my water aerobics class today and there was a substitute teacher that was no substitute for the regular teacher. I'm feeling like a whining cry-baby but this class is the only exercise that I've been following through on and the class this morning felt like a waste of time. It wasn't really, I did pretty much what I wanted to do but I didn't get enough sleep last night and I feel like complaining. Waaaahhh!

My daughter accompanied me to traffic school yesterday. I think it was good for her. She got a lot of attention and learned a few things about defensive driving and the consequences of reckless driving.

I'm going to cut this short. I have a lot to do today.

breakfast: chicken vegetable soup

lunch: tuna sandwich

dinner: vegetable fritata and salad

snack: mango

water water water

I'm thinking of checking out the fat flush diet.

Talk to y'all soon,

Roll

Welcome Back Judy, Missed You

GOOD MORNING, :angel:s, great to see everyone is doing well even for a few slips which all look very minor anyway JUDY good work keeping up with your exercise :cheer: it all helps, ROLL I hope your little one is feeling better :crossed: if you tried the tea I hope it was a comfort for her, bummer about your water class but if you got something out of it then it doesn,t really matter what the teacher is like, she is probably quite good but you have developed a rapport with the usual teach so that always helps in anything we do if we feel comfortable then we will get something out of it ;) good to see your staying on track with the fruit, your overall intake looks good, I,ve heard of the fat flush diet for me personally I think just watching portion sizes and trying to eat healthy with the odd treat now and then I tried all sorts of diets before I finally listened and took note of what I was reading in my slimming mags, there are some wonderful real life stories one in particular inspired me so much that I stuck her picture to my fridge and when I feel like giving up I just look at her and think well if she can do it so can I , she lost an incredible 110kgs I don,t know I think its about 240 plus lbs, if she can do it anyone can with will power and support, so if I keep that in mind it doesn,t sound so overwhelming HECK I only need to lose 20kgs around 30lbs :p :dizzy:  CAROL you look like your going great guns :cb: :dancer: keep it up girl whats a slice or two of banana bread between friends no major damage done and a few cookies ooooh you  ;) hope the snow melts a bit more for you and you enjoy your egg hunt I,m going to try and get down to my grandkids for easter finances a bit tight at the moment and petrol prices seem to rise every time you blink  anyway I,ve rambled enough tried to catch up on most of the inputs from all of you MY PLAN FOR TODAY
BREAKFAST/ GRAPES, APPLE, :coffee:
SNACK/ YOGHURT, GREEN TEA
LUNCH/ TUNA SALAD, GREEN TEA
SNACK/ APPLE, GREEN TEA

WELL BYE FOR NOW CATCH YOU ALL LATER, HI TIRED HOPE YOUR WELL, BLESSED BE, JULIE
P,S , I WAS NAUGHTY THIS WEEK I HAD A PACKET OF CHIPS 2 NIGHTS IN A ROW, THAT WAS HOW I PUT ON THE WEIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE, BUT I GAVE MYSELF A GOOD TALKING TOO AND FROM NOW ON THEY WILL BE A ONCE IN A FORTNIGHT TREAT, BYE AGAIN, JULIE

judydc 03-21-2005 06:49 PM

Okay, now I've caught my breath....thanks for the reassuring words. I tend to beat myself up about not eating perfectly on plan, but on the other hand if I'm not careful I'll begin accepting too many "cheats" on a daily basis, and start sliding down a slippery slope....I think there's where committing to keeping a journal or a food log is essential. I haven't been logging for over a week (I need a new book, isn't that a lame excuse?).

This morning I made it to the Curves gym before work, yaay for me, but I did eat some chocolates that were on the table at a meeting this afternoon. Otherwise, cottage cheese and pineapple for b'fast, apple and almonds for an AM snack, protein bar around 1 while running errands, and a late lunch (Lean Cuisine chicken florentine) at 2:30. A Lean Cuisine by itself usually isn't enough for me, I shoulda brought some soup or a small salad, maybe the chocolate eggs wouldn't have jumped down my throat by 4:30. A lesson for next time.

Julie--when it rains, it pours, doesn't it? :rain: I hope that things are looking up real soon. When this is all over and you've reached your weight-loss goal, the stress you dealt with will be one more thing to include in your own success story! I love reading those profiles, and imagining my own, and some reader thinking, "Wow, that Judy must be really determined and focused to have stuck with it through all that!" Did I mention that I have a very lively imagination?

Carol, I hope your day went according to your plan, and that you fit in your workout this morning. I'll think of you as I push myself to get up and moving around a bit earlier, at least most mornings.

Roll--reading your post reminded me of how mean we were as kids to the substitute teachers....you didn't shoot spitballs at her, did you? Oh, it was a water aerobics class, I guess you probably didn't. :D

Hang in there, ladies!

cacmsc 03-22-2005 07:06 AM

Hello everyone! Its so nice to wake up to the sunshine this morning. I did stick to plan yesterday and exercised for 50 min. before work it was great. This little man came up to me as I was on the treadmill. He said honey you've been on here along time? I said yah I am almost done. Then he said I've watched you walk brisk, jog you just don't stop I said well when you turn the big 50 you need to take some charge in your lifestyle. He said your not telling me I am 88 years old. I come here 5 days a week. Then he laughed and said you are what you eat and what you exercise. I thanked him for the chat. He said hope to see you again and that was that! But afterwards I have to say I felt really good. My grandparents exercised almost every morning with Jack Lalane on T.V.. Gram had all this equipment from him it brought back fine memories a nice way to start my morning. I hope to run into him again on Wed. morning. I think this is my spring routine a.m. trips to the gym.
Rollmdl I am sure you still burned calories and at least you went. It shows good effort and the traffic lessons what a good idea to take your daughter. Every little bit of knowledge is a good thing. Your fritata sounded good I love those. Forgot about making them thanks for the thought. I will throw one together soon.
Julie I hope you are able to see the little ones for Easter. We are to get a bit more snow on Wed. so my hunt is going to be wet and muddy. But I have decided to tell all the kids to bring their boots. They can slip them off in the garage. Last year we were flying kites and some spring flowers were up not a chance this year. Your picture on the fridge is a good reminder that we can do this I like your line of thinking. Keep up the good work. Try soy crisp instead of potatoe chips crunchy and tasty not so bad for you soy protein. I sometimes dip them in salsa.
Judy Curves is suppose to be really good my friend continues to do well there. I sometimes think of trying something new. I called the YMCA yesterday and you have to be a member in order to participate in the water class. I was hoping I could just pay for that. Oh well! I tried! Keep up your good efforts a bit of choc. can't kill anyone. I bought a bar of a little kid at the store. Didn't I break off a little square on my way home. But I was able to give the hubby the rest. I have to say the almond bar was quite tasty. A little cheat isn't a bad thing just don't let it get out of hand. Sorry everyone for the long note.
Intake: Breakfast=1 whole wt. toast w/ rasp. jam. coffee, water and a grapefruit
snack= almonds
lunch= tuna w/ a little mayo, spices over a salad and soy crisp. 1 pear.
Dinner= beef marinated in lime garlic sauce grilled, broc. and sweet potatoe
Snack= fresh strawberries w/ pineapple slices/ f.f. cool whip

MY PLAN FOR TODAY
BREKKI/ APPLE, TUB YOGHURT, :coffee:
SNACK/ GRAPES, GREEN TEA
LUNCH/ TUNA, COTTAGE CHEESE ON MULTIGRAIN TOAST, GREEN TEA

rollmdl 03-22-2005 09:25 PM

Hi All

What a whiner I was about the class yesterday. When I don't get enough sleep, I get so inflexible. I'm having such a hard time staying consistent these days. When I know a special occasion is on the horizon an I know that my "schedule" is going to be interrupted, I lose my resolve. We have friends that moved out of state, two families. They are coming "home" for a visit next week. We are having a slumber party for 6 girls on one night and there will be lots of socializing for the entire week. I'm happy to see them and so sad that they moved. It's a perfect "recipe" for overeating. I'll need to keep in close contact with you all if I'm to make it through these next two weeks without having to buy some new, bigger, pants--or maybe a muu-muu. :dizzy:

I'm making a big pot of chicken soup tonight. I really feel more secure about staying on track when I have it handy in the refrigerator.

Judy, I think we're on the same page about our "slips" and I agree that tracking really helps. The vagueness around snacking makes me feel so out of control. When I'm tracking my food, sure it's a hassle, but I feel good and comfortable having something I hadn't planned on, just so long as it's within the boundaries I've set for myself. I'm working on not beating myself up, too. It does absolutely no good for me and in fact, makes me want to escape with food even more. What helps me is staying conscious (or should I say regaining consciousness) and gently guiding myself back to my plan .

I'm planning on attending the water aerobics class tomorrow morning. I think I'll call to make sure "my" teacher will be teaching the class. If not, I'll just do the machines.

Carol, I love your story about the guy at the gym. I love those kinds of connections.

Well, Gotta go get my girl from her swim practice.

Thanks, Keep up the good work.

cacmsc 03-23-2005 06:52 AM

Well girls I fell off a bit last evening. Having the bag of Easter candy in my closet isn't so good for me.I am going to give it to the hubby to put in the plastic eggs today that way its out of my sight and reach. I had a bit of a stressful work day yesterday and that didn't help it makes me more of an impulsive eater. Oh well at least I recognize it and that says something and I will over come those extra few calories when I go to the gym. Easter is coming pretty fast. We will have to see if we are doing a inside or outside hunt for eggs. The kids just love it running around and gathering the eggs to see whats inside them. They will all be on sugar highs after that and Grams will send them all home! Hah Hah!
Rollmdl don't ever regret what you let loose on this site. Its okay and sometimes expressing ourselves is just what we need. The soup sounds like a great idea. I think I am going to go throw some stuff in my crock pot to make turkey soup for tonight. Thanks for the soup thought. Happy exercising! Friends are wonderful up lifts of good times and lots of fun. Keep moving and you will burn extra calories and can eat a few extras during these times. Work out a few extra min.... it helps
Julie your right I am pretty lucky and I am grateful for them. I never take things like that for granted.
Intake : Breakfast= 2 poached eggs, dry rye toast, 1/2 order potatoes, coffee
Lunch= soy crisp, meatballs w/ little melted cheese, 1 pear

Dinner= turkey soup w/ veggies and a few flat noodles, few thin slices of reduced cheddar ch., w/ reduced fat crackers.
snack= yogurt smoothie
Have a great day! Julie you are right if we don't stray far from our path we will reach our goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of us together with the support of each other! Tired we miss you too! Judy hope you are doing well!
Well girls I did make it to the gym. I did the treadmill for 35min. and then wt. resistance 20 min. It felt good to get into it today. I updated my intake for today.

rollmdl 03-24-2005 03:05 AM

Hi All

I won't be posting tomorrow. I have a super busy day. I'm meeting with my accountant tomorrow and have two other meetings as well. I'm glad I have my soup all ready to go.

I'll check in on Friday.

Thanks for being here. Sorry to be so brief but I'm really tired and doing the taxes brings up lots of anxiety. I've been audited twice since my husband died. Once for his business and once for me personally.

Wish me luck,
Roll

cacmsc 03-24-2005 06:37 AM

Roll I just want to say that also happened to us last year. It surely isn't any fun at all and I don't wish that process on anyone. I ended up taking 2 personnal days off to meet with the tax lady. She was at least a reasonable person and wasn't too bad to deal with. But it was something I hope to never have to do again. At any rate I think it was my little side business that brought that all on. She said they were just picking folks but I don't know if that is so true. Good luck with your taxes mine were easier this year as I haven't been working on the side. I am going to do that again soon but not alot and its a different paying source. I made turkey soup yesterday after thinking about your chicken soup. I did it in the crock pot.
Julie, Judy and Tired hope your all well!
Today I am feeling good and thought maybe I'd fit in an exercise time after work. That way on friday I won't have to go into the city. I have a lot to do cleaning , cooking and preparing food for everyone. I started to take a daily vitamin with ginseng I think its helping me feel more energized. Last night I made a smoothie with yogurt, 2% milk, few nuts and blueberries. It was very good and I think a good snack it keeps you feeling full. A friend makes one with plain nonfat yogurt or vanilla, frozen orange juice and skim milk. Its like a creamsicle. I have to try that one. Little healthy treats.
Intake plans; breakfast- whole wheat toast 1 w/ raspberry jam, grapefruit whole, 1 slice of reduced fat cheese , coffee
Snack= soy crisp 130
Lunch= out for lunch chinese=?
Snack= 1 pear
Dinner= quesadillas made w/ chicken, salad w/ olive oil, vinegar spices

judydc 03-24-2005 05:44 PM

A quick note on a busy day to say hello, sorry I have to run...things are good, I've been ignoring the Easter candy everywhere and I got a new food journal this morning at the doctor's office, as well as a very bracing pep talk...more tomorrow. I am going to reach my long-term goal!

cacmsc 03-25-2005 07:40 AM

Judy I hear you loud and clear about that Easter candy. Its not easy I have been staying away since the other day. But yesterday while shopping did eat a small handful of choc. covered dried cranberries. Well they weren't the best thing to eat but I guess not the worse. Did the doctor pass on any good advice that you feel like sharing? Sometimes they have good words of wisdom. I read an article last night from our local newspaper where my daughter works. It was on health and well being. The guidelines reccomend we eat 2 cups of fruit a day and 2 1/2 cups of veggies. It also talked about building muscle. Eating protein or calcium before of after a workout is suppose to build more muscle. The muscle in turn raises your metabolism level on a daily basis. Just food for thought everyone! I am going to make some new type of cookies for Easter. An Italian style I will eat one and take the rest to the downstairs freezer. I am going to make sure they go home with everyone on sunday when they leave.
Well I am off to workout this a.m. . I did do the scale thing this morning I haven't lost anything this week but on the bright side not gained. I feel like I have lost inches. I am going to measure myself this a.m. to keep a running record. I lost my old one. Well take care everyone.
Breakfast= 1/2 grapefruit, 2 eggs, 1 english muffin wh. wt, little canola marg. 325 cals.
Lunch= smoothy w/ yogurt nonfat, blueberries, almonds few, milk 250

judydc 03-28-2005 07:07 PM

Hope we didn't lose everybody when the forum was down... or were you all washed away by the rain?

The advice I got at my weigh-in wasn't new, but I needed to be pushed hard for having so many excuses to drift off program. I spent the weekend setting new goals, and making plans to achieve them, like figuring out how to make my mornings easier (and not lay in bed contemplating whether or not I'll work out). I'm sure that I'm not losing more quickly because I'm not geting enough aerobic exercise. I also studied the eating plan that I've been following more or less since December, and seeing where I've been way too lax :nono: .

Today I had a peach smoothie for breakfast, went to Curves, had an apple and almonds for an AM snack, LC turkey and green beans, with a cup of steak and veggie soup, for lunch, a protein bar in late afternoon, four chocolate kisses (hmmm, no dessert for me), and will have a big salad w/chicken for dinner.

See you tomorrow!

cacmsc 03-29-2005 06:31 AM

Judy hopefully we didn't lose everyone. I tried to get on and found it was closed. I guess I needed a bit of support over the weekend. I didn't do to bad but of course had add in's oh well it was a holiday. I did good at sending home almost all the goodies. Yesterday I didn't do too bad until I waited too long to eat. I have been having a bit of trouble with my knee the last couple of days. I worked out on saturday so I got my 3 days of planned exercise in. That was a plus in the right direction it always makes me feel good when I met the goal. I should up it to 4 days this week and I think I will. But I need to take at easy on my knee. I will try the bike it might be less pressure. The motrin help thank goodness at 800 mgs they should. Hope everyone joins in soon. Sounds like your getting it together with a good plan in place. It really helps to make yourself a little chart. More accountability to yourself I guess at any rate it helps me to see what I have done or not done. At any rate spring is here and it is so nice to hear the birds in the morning, but I wish they'd sleep in a bit longer 5 is a bit early. Have a great day.
Yesterday: 1 sweet roll last one left!, coffee
lunch= 1 jalpeno pepper roll w/ ham slices and mustard
raw veggies, broc, carrots, celery and laughing cow cheese
few grapes and 1 handful of potatoe chips a coworker shared!
At dinner late and was straved 7 hrs. since I ate anything!
ham sandwich on a rye roll , mustard
potatoe salad, banana bread homemade
cheese
I didn't drink enough water yesterday, didn't need the chips and potatoe salad wasn't a great choice either. I will try to get on better terms with food today.
I will ck in later.

Hi All

Sorry to be MIA. We have guests in town--2 families that have moved away are visiting for Easter Week. We had a beach party and 7 girls sleeping over and lounging all day here. I have a headache. My eating------exercise? Well, I'll not be gone for good but it's kind of tough to stay on track right now. Not a good excuse. I really miss my friends and
it makes me want to comfort myself with food. I'm glad you're still around. I'll check in tomorrow after socializing again.

I'm sorry about your knee, Carol. You work so hard and deserve functioning knees. It's so tricky. I have faulty knees. Arthritis. I have to strengthen my quadriceps slowly or I injure them and I'm back to square one.

Well, I'm going to bed now, before I eat the house..

Love to You All.

cacmsc 03-30-2005 06:21 AM

Thanks Rollmdl for your thoughts my knee seems a bit better today. I am off to exercise before work as ai have another late day. When that happens I make excuses to not stop at the gym. Now that nice weather has come I can always walk too. I think that I will make it to the lake this weekend and walk around. It is 2 miles and so pretty. Enjoy your company and when they leave you can jump back into your routine just make a schedule and make yourself accountable. I haven't worked out really since saturday but this morning I am off! Gotta get that 3 days in I was shooting for 4 this week we will see.
I had a bit of stress to the end of my day yesterday but held it together when I got home and didn't eat the house. I made split pea soup from one of my ham bones. It came out really good but seemed to take for ever to get done. So I had a bit of cheese and a few reduced fat crackers. I did eat a piece of the banana bread but now its all gone.
I hope everyone else is doing good? We miss hearing from everyone.
Todays planned intake: breakfast= oatmeal w/ spices and 1/2 grapefruit
snack= yogurt
lunch= split pea soup and reduced fat crackers
baked chips 1 serving
dinner= grilled chicken , aspargus w/ little butter and lemon
salad w/ olive oil and vinegar, spices
snack= yogurt
I have to increase my water I have been slacking off! Maybe I should give that a chart? Have a super day and I will attempt to ck in again as it keeps me on task.

Maybe we should start an arthritis thread? I've had my right knee 'scoped twice, and apparently I have some arthritis in my hips and in my big toe. So I ache a lot...but it's osteoarthritis, mostly as a result of lugging so much weight around. If I don't lose weight, I know I'll be looking at more extensive surgeries down the road. Every pound I drop, every workout I do, is ultimately leading to less pain, so my poor joints won't have to work so hard :D I haven't had a lot of Motrin-inducing pain in recent years, but my stepped-up workout schedule might change that, we'll see. I keep a couple of specially marked 2-lb bags of frozen peas to ice my knees when they feel cranky. This is a big reason that I started going to Curves. It's important to do strenght training, and ankle weights are so boring....

Roll, don't feel too badly about being off program when you have company. As long as you're conscious of what you are and what you aren't doing, you can minimize the damage, and you will be able to get right back in the saddle when the party's over. Have fun! It sounds like there is a lot of energy and laughter around your house this week.

Carol, you've read my mind about the weather! I will be walking along the Potomac as the temperature improves. Being out in the sunlight, even if I'm walking along a busy street, is like a tonic for me. I'm not an outdoorsy type--city girl, never went camping or whatever--but I love being able to spend time along a lake or a river. It's so calming for me! I hope your day got off to a great start.

Julie--come back! I want to know what's going on in your life, and I miss your smilies ;)

Yesterday was a gold star day in my journal. I ate entirely on program, got up early enough for a 50-minute workout on the aerobic machines, and said no to temptations. To combat my urge to nibble in the evening, I've been sitting on the couch, off to the side of the TV. I put my feet up and surround myself with the newspapers and the rest of my reading backlog, and somehow that seems to keep me from wanting to eat. Crazy, huh? Whatever works....

Make good choices, everyone!
