Tiredoffat WOW is our winter finally here! I left work at 2:30 today as the roads weren't to great and I worked until 6 last night. I have been slipping on going to the gym this winter weather thing I like to get home after work. But I have been up and out alot at work so that is a bit of exercise. I hope to get to the gym on Thurs... I am a young 50. I still don't feel like it thank God . I think its because I am a busy person and don't let much get me down . I want to live life to its fullest and do things not let grass grow under my feet. I had my kids when I was young but don't regret it. Then went to school later in life. I just graduated in 1998 still paying those school loans to prove it. Oh well its never to late I figure to do things. I also think being healthy makes a big difference and want to do what I can to keep up my health. So I do a lot of reading and listening to others on health and diet ideas. I was reflecting back to an old diet book The TFactor Diet. Much of what they say in there is true I think. One thing thats important is that all this fat free and low carb you have to becareful of the added in sugar or sugar alchols. Its much better to eat natural products and count the calories as we have been trying. I think the lady is correct when telling you to eat more like 1800 cals. . Today I ate oatmeal w/ cranberries, little br. sugar and cinn.200
yogurt 100 left over shrimp garlic over fried rice!!!! 500? dark choc. coverd raisins200 1/2 slice healthy toast w/ mustard and 1oz. chicken 100 Stressful eating today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not good I'd better stop right now before I blow my whole day. 1100 calories oh know its not even close to the end of the day. I need to drink some water! Dinner a big salad and a bowl of chicken noodle soup thats a plan. My hubby and daughter both have the flu. It is quite awful and I hope I miss it completely. I will ck in with you later on if I get a chance to do some more reading. I need to get motivated. Keep up your good changes and I will try to join you with better efforts than my lunch intake today! No sense in crying over split milk they say. Anyways sometimes when we blow it we tend to just give in for the whole day I am going to attempt to save myself right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carol |
Hi Everyone!!
I like the idea of a daily check in, but I noticed this post was started in 8/04? Is that correct? Can a daily post be done? Anyhoots: Just joined today. Starting Weight: 225.5 Current Weight: 222 Mini Goal: 199 GOAL: 125-150 I exercised 40 minutes today. ALways been an exerciser. I exercise 4-5 times a week and include strength training. Have a friend who had gastric surgery and boy it seems like she's sabotaging me left and right whenever we're together. Not sure why. But I resist. I know I should tell her something. But she is SOOOOO SENSITIVE!!!! Hopefully this time I can reach my first mini goal!! |
Hi Carol and Chocolate, good to hear from you. Chocolate all are welcome at this site. I'd love for you to join us. The more ideas and motivation, the better we all do.
Carol, you're right don't sweat it and move on. You've been good at doing that and I'm learning. I agree with you about eating natural foods. I hope you don't get the flu. It's missed us so far and I have my fingers crossed that it will continue to miss us. There's nothing like kids with the flu! Good eating day so far. breakfast: oatmeal, 1/4c. milk, orange (300) lunch: salad, turkey, grated cheese, small orange (300) big snack/dinner: pasta, diced tomatoes, almonds (650!) planned after kids go to bed treat: big fruit smoothie (400) daily total: 1650 no ex today |
Hello Chocolate and Tiredoffat,
Glad you joined in on this site the look forward to hearing from you. I have decided to go back to putting down my intake as the day goes on. Then I will add it on here that way I am more likely to add everything that goes in! Just a thought always thinking! I have been reading from a new book I got around christmas. It is called The Best Kept Secrets Of Healthy Cooking. The book is written by a RD and she gives you the whole low down on oils, chesses, nuts, flours and so on......... Her recipes are sounding quite good and I am going to try some this week. I am going to make the Cinnamon Apple Raisin Granola this weekend. It keeps for up to a month. Sandra Woodruff talks about the things ways to replace oil , butter etc. and to use yogurt and other ingredients. I'm going to try making some of her muffins and scones to freeze. Then when I need a quick breakfast or snack it will be there. Oh well I will let you know how they go. Tireddoffat I did pull it together last night. I only had a small bowl of soup and then ate 1 fudgie only 100 cal. I think when I catch myself over eating I should grab something to read about health etc. and it will help get me motivated to do my best. I know that I can do this and I WILL! Lets go girls and Chocolate your doing great with your exercise. I need to get to the gym today no matter what time it is or the what the weather is. I hope my family gets rid of this flu soon. My daughter Tam was really hit hard with it. My hubby isn't up but I haven't heard him cough yet thats a good sign. I'd rather go to work any day than get that.Well I'm off to work. If you get a chance ck that book out if your interested I am sure you could order it at the library. I am always looking for new things. Breakfast= 2 poached egg, 1 slice rye dry bread and potatoes 400 cal. Lunch= Already made it! Chicken breast, 1/2 cup pasta, 1/2 cup peas= |
Hi Carol, the book sounds great. I'll put it on my list. Right now I'm reading the Dr. Phil book - I really like it. I've learned a lot about healthy living and reaching your goals. I've been passing on some of the info to my students in fourth grade language related to their behavioral and academic goals.
Good eating day. Adding more grains to my diet has made me happier. I was eating very few and the new plan I'm on has me eating several whole wheat grains a day. Interesting. Keep in touch. I'm so happy that you're continuing on this journey with me. Stay away from that flu. I'm off to the gym tonight as I missed my workout this morning. breakfast - cereal, milk, orange, coffee (300) lunch - really great homemade salad with feta - lots of great veggies (250) snack - smoothie, pb sandwich (healthy natural pb) (700) dinner - turkey chili with a little cheese, pear (500) snack - tea - hot, decaf - very tasty and warm! cals- about 1800 (give or take a bit) exercise plan - 3 mile jog and maybe a bit of something else - I'd like to workout for an hour, we'll see how I do - I'll let you know in the am. Have a great night! |
Tiredoffat I have continued reading some more healthy info. just picked up the Womans World Mag. all for 1.49. Lots of info. in it about health related subjects. One thing is we should have appox. 3 cups of veggies a day. The grains in your diet help seek out more fiber which is to help keep you full and helps with cravings. Limiting the starchy veggies as they can be eaten but in moderation. I am going to whip up some homemade leek and potatoe soup this weekend. I found a recipe in that book. Also one for pumpkin bread made with whole wheat pastry flour. I switched my milk for cereal to skim. We'll see how that goes. Yesterday my hip was acting up and I lived on Motrin all day. So needless to say I didn't push it by going to the gym. But today I am going and just will attempt to do a little treadmill with out the incline for now and some wts. I have to get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I will take my suit and use the sauna it might help my hip. So far so good with not geting the flu. The hubby bearly could walk yesterday and Tam is still out of work from it. One of the day habs shut down due to the fact so many had it. Well I did pretty good with choice making yesterday and went shopping for some good foods. When using cheese have you ever grated it into your chili or salad it seems like you have more? I have just purchased reduced fat Cabot cheeses jalopeno, cheddar and mozz. The book I am reading says the reduced cheeses are good for us but some of the snacks and baked goods which are fat free aren't as they trick us by adding more sugar to make them taste good. The rest of yesterdays intake.
Snack: almonds tamari 170 cal. Dinner:3 small lean boneless spareribs, salad w/ blue cheese and raspberry dressing, croutons Snack: fresh strawberries 1cup and 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream, lite whip cream During the day I had a choc. cappachino powder mixed w/ water I am going to try to add some more tea in my intake today. I had green lime tea the other day it was good. There are so many to try. I also bought a pkg. with many kinds. I feel like I am on the right path again. Thank you for sticking with me too! Someday we may actually met wouldn't that be fun. Just a thought. Maybe we should in private mail send each other a photo so we can put a face friendship? Oh well have a great day hope your family is all well. By the way very cold here today 3. |
Hi Carol,
It's been a crazy day here. The boys are full of energy which is good but at times tiring. My class is 2/3 energetic boys too. So by Friday I'm ready for some real quiet and comfort. We're ordering Thai food tonight. I have a lot of cals left so I'll just eat a reasonable meal and not worry about it. Thanks for reminding me about shopping for good food. I'll add that to my list for tomorrow. Having good food really helps. Now when I'm discouraged and want to reach for something fat I say to myself, "I might be discouraged about __ but I've really accomplished the weight loss so I'm not going to punish myself by ruining that accomplishment." The self talk seems to help I'll send a picture sometime in the future - I don't have the tech. expertise to that now and I'm so short on time that I don't have the time to learn it. Perhaps this summer I'll have time to do that. I'm also shy about my appearance too - I'm a regular person, but I do have some hangups related to my appearance - long story, one that the Dr. Phil book really helps me with. My parents really did a number on me with regard to my weight as a young girl. It left some big scars that I'm slowly and successfully working through. So glad to have you here for the check in. breakfast - cereal/milk snack - big handful of grapes lunch - salad with turkey and grated cheese (grated cheese helps to have less) snack - pear, two dried apricots, decaf tea dinner - tofu curry vegetable dish, chicken cashew dish (some obviously), brown rice (I'll skip the fried stuff). p.s. I did make it to the gym yesterday. Funny, my hip hurt a bit too - perhaps the cold brings it out. Have a nice Friday night Carol! TGIF! |
Me again. Checking in for a little more strength. Something about seeing my food intake in print on this page helps me to stay on track.
breakfast - oatmeal w/milk (200) lunch - turkey chili with grated cheese, carrots (300) snack - two health bars (not that healthy) 260, 7 apricots (100), tea total so far: 860 evening plan - I'm trying a seafood newburgh - healthy kind from Prevention magazine and then I'm planning on enjoying some plain popcorn later tonight if I feel like munching during the movie. Good workout - 15 min. warm up on eliptical, 3.1 mile run on treadmill at 5.0, five minute cooldown and about 10 mins of stretches. Hope you're having a good day. |
Tiredoffat hello good to catchup with you. Don't worry about the picture thing is was just a little thought and isn't important. Be good to yourself though. I have a close friend whom went through a lot in her childhood and we talk often. I am glad she has felt comfortable to talk about it. She has had to deal with her weight all her life but seems to be doing better with that. We actually had dinner together last night. Anyways watch those health bars the calories are pretty high. I have a hard time picking them out finding one which works for me. I liked the balance choc. mint bar but haven't had it in awhile. I did make it to the gym today before the storm moved in. Wow and did it we are closing lots of activities here in Syr. area. I at least got the workout in. I didn't do my normal as I wanted to ease back in. I took motrin before hand. I did about 20 min. wt/ resistance and 25 min. on the treadmill. I was hungry afterwards though. I didn't really have lunch until 2:00. I made some homemade potatoe, garlic, leek soup. Later on I am making a pizza I will only have veggies on it. Just felt like pizza.
Breakfast: 2 eggs 150, 2 toast grain 150 w/ little canola marg.50 banana 100 Lunch: sour dough bread 2 oops! 140, potatoe soup 200 Snack: homemade gingerbread 150 could of done with out this! Total: 950 or so in calories so far! My homemade pizza will be my limit for the days intake then its water I GUESS! I will add mushrooms, red pepper, onions and pepper rings. 2 slices should be around 250 calories a piece? Sounds about right! I will be around the 1500 calorie intake mark. I burned 180 claories on the treadmill today plus what ever on the machines? I am glad I got to the gym. I am going to try and go in the morning this week 2 days. Now that I work a bit later and with the weather and my hip it just wasn't working . I do feel the difference when I DON'T GO! My belly was starting to get firm and now I NEED to start all over again. Ab's it is! We have a machine which is an ab killer and you know when you have been on it. But thats good I think. Take care and let me know about the seafood if its a good one I'd like it. Always trying something new. I have Vegetable Bean Soup I am going to make for Tammy. She is still sick and went to the doctors today. Broncitus and the stomach virus they said. Out to work til Tues. Hubby is slowly getting better. I am trying not to catch any of it. Carol |

We have missed you!
Well I am with you Tiredoffat I had about 14 inches of lovely white stuff here too! I am so grateful it came in on a weekend. Anyways it is kind of pretty but to cold to mess around in. I made homemade spaghetti sauce today with meatballs and pork. It came out really tasty. I ate only a cup of pasta but did have extra meatballs. No bread for dinner just a salad. Breakfast was whole grain toast , oatmeal. Lunch two meatballs. At any rate it hasn't been to bad of a day. Oh now I did have a 1/2 cup of dill chips with my grandson. They were good but I stayed a only the 1 serving. I'm going to bake chocolate chip cookies to mail off to my son for his birthday. Just a little treat unexpected from home. I love to do it makes me feel good. Well I am planning on going to the gym before work in the a.m. so I won't ck in until later in the day. But I will be doing my intake count down. Oh Tiredoffat we have an ab. machine at the gym I set it at 65lbs. for 2 reps then set it for 85lbs. 1 rep. You pull down the bars toward your belly and it raises the wts. i can feel it today. So that is good. I read about making sure you mix up your exercise then you get more out of it as you burn calories and fat differently. Who knows anything is worth a try. I drink more water this weekend thats a plus. Take care! Chocolate are you out there???????????????????? We are a good group even though its just a few of us. We support each other and share ideas oh well! cc |
Hello! I am a newbie here. I just completed my first week of Herbalife today. I need tons of support. I really never had to exercise until now and I turn 32 this year. I gained 30 pounds beginning 3 years ago (relationships do it) and have maintained the extra 30 lbs over the last year. I am honestly not good at exercising although I know its good for me.
Can I lose weight on herbalife on the product alone? I am taking the shakes morning and afternoon, eating lunch with the girls at work. I take the pills morning and afternoon with the shakes: Total control, vitamin, cell activator, and snacking control pills as directed. Am I doing it right? Does anyone know? I have managed to lose the 5 lbs. I put on I was up to 165 but I weighed in this morning and I am at 160. Yesterday was my dad's birthday so I splurged eating barbeque, but I still took my pills at least to help me maintain the weightloss and it seems to have worked. Has anyone lost weight doing this?--Taking the shapeworks pills on days they knew they weren't going to be able to maintain the shake regimen for the day? What I have noticed is that I have a lot more energy since I started. I am not a morning person but I sure do feel better arriving to work than normally. Sometimes I sneak in some unsweetened grape fruit juice as a snack. http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...ion/lb/0/37/5/ |
GOOD EVENING  :angel:s, HOPE YOUR ALL WELL, THANKS CAROL I MISSED YOU GUYS TOO, welcome OLGA and I hope you stay on board , I,ve tried herbalife before, I had good results but then things happened in my life and I found it hard to stick to but I think everyone is an individual and diets work differently for everyone it sounds like what your doing is working so stick with it , I lost on an average of 1 to 2 lb a week on Herbalife alone but when I did some exercise with the program I had even better results and lost more inches than weight as mussel weighs more than fat ;) so yes you can lose weight with the product alone but for even better results include exercise as well , and it makes you feel good to, I can,t wait to get back to it , CAROL you sound like such a wonderful mum I hope your appreciated, you and TIRED make me envious at the moment with your talk of exercise now I,m staying with my daughter for awhile she can,t wait for me to get back to it either she wants me to join the local gym with her the DOC said I can start off with some light water aerobics and then in about 3 wks I can graduate to some light weights, I,m doing some short walks at the moment around 15mins a day I still get a bit :tired: and I walk like a :snail:  but I,ll get there slow and steady :) ;) anyway you all have a good night I,ll check in again soon REMEMBER, STAY FOCUSED, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, NO QUITTING, AND BE KIND TO YOURSELVES, BYE FOR NOW :grouphug:  TO ALL STAY :strong: WE ARE DOING THIS AND WE WILL WIN THIS BATTLE OF THE BULGE :bravo: :cp: BLESSED BE, JULIE

Olga welcome! The site is only a small amt. of folks but lots of individual support. I personally have never tried that diet. I did know a supervisor a year ago whom used it she said that it was easy for her to lose. I am not sure how she is doing now as she left our company but when she talked it was like 40lbs. but she was really over wt. by quite a bit. Exercise with any program amakes the difference. I was just doing some reading this week end abou corlislim. Basic pt. was take this eat healthy and exercise and you will lose. Well same kind of goes with any diet I think. Good luck to you and keep us updated. Do you eat regularr meals with that program?
Julie I am off to the gym before work just thought I'd ck in for a bit of support. Thanks! Tiredoffat we will see if I can get moving a couple of times a week in the a.m. for workouts. I have a doctors appt. for me and one for the hubby so I am off on Thurs. so I will fit in a work out for myself. Talk to you all later and add in my intake for the day. cc |
Hi all. Welcome Olga. I've never tried that diet, but I wish you well with it. Dieting is a journey to discover what works for you and your health. I'm loosing weight by eating a well balanced diet with a calorie total of 1800. I try to eat 3-5 grains, 3-4 fruits, 3-5 veggies, 2-3 proteins, and 2-3 calcium products a day. I'm also trying to exercise every other day. So far so good - I'm hoping that this is a plan I can stick to for the rest of my life. I like it because there's a lot of variety and I know I'm eating healthy foods.
Today's Intake breakfast - 1 1/2 Kashi bars (200) rushing!!! lunch - salad with turkey and grated cheese 250 heavy afternoon snack - pb sandwich (360), smoothie (300), orange (100) total so far: 1210 dinner??? evening plan - exercise 6-7, health meeting 7:45 |
Hello everyone! What a busy day I started off with exercising before work. It was a bit rushed only did the treadmill for 26 min. then the ab machine for 3 15 reps. Then I flew off to work after stopping to grab a bagel to eat on the way. At any rate some exercise was better than none. So I guess it was good. It was a stressful day at work lots of political office stuff going on. That makes for a long day. I guess I am just listening and trying to stay out of things but at any rate its stressed up!
My intake was okay. I am a bit sore must of worked a few muscles. I did the treadmill at a 3.5 incline, 4.0 speed burned about 200 calories. The incline really makes a differnce some day I will reach 5! SOMEDAY! Breakfast: 1 bagel cranberry plain 200, coffee, fresh grapes green 15 large ones. Lunch: Lean Cusine chicken marsala, w/ snap peas and carrots 140 calories, salad w/ blue cheese and raspberry dressing 150 Snack grapes Dinner; a sm. left over pizza slice homemade, 3 meatballs and sauce w/ mozz ch. 1 small bowl of my homemade veg. soup no meat in it. 1 handfull of dk. choc. covered raisins? 1 fudgie bar 90 Going to bed soon I am beat tonight! Hope your all doing well. Tiredoffat your doing great with your intakes. I am proud of you! I will have to try the Kashi bars. Tonight I skipped the pasta and just had the meatballs. Less carbs. I made my daughter some homemade veg. soup no meat products. It was a real good recipe first time I made this one. So simple and tasted good. I sent her 1/2 and kept the rest for my lunches. That will surely make her feel good. It makes me feel good that she enjoys my soups and puts in requests when she is sick. Take care! |
Herbalife Second Week Commences
Thank you all for the warm reception to this forum. I chose to post here becasue everyone seemed so positive and its not too large of a forum. I will be posting what I do and exploring other people's lunch menu as well.
I had my second weigh in last night and I went over my chart with my aunt. Last Tuesday:165 Lbs Sunday night: 161 Lbs after eating more BBQ, one pound weight gain My chest size: 37 My waist size: 37 Hips: 42 1/2 Arm: 12 1/2 Thigh: 17 Stomach: 39 1/2 Today's menu: Breakfast: Shapeworks shake with 1/2 cup milk & 1/2 banana & pills Snack: Coffee & cookie Lunch: Low fat Quesadilla with Low fat works, water & coffee Dinner: Shapeworks shake with 1/2 cup milk & 1/2 banana & pills Water Intake: 1/2 liter The cookie was staring at me! No really someone brought in cookies and I had one. My water intake can definitely improve. The way I take the shakes works out for me because I can eat with the girls at lunch. I have bad weekday breakfast habits so the shake actually improves that for me. Dinner is a bit tough because I can potentially steer away from doing right by my shake but they usually fill me up. We'll see how tonight goes, as I feel a bit hungry but I think I will make it. I still have a cup of coffee to go with my MTV/VH1 shows. :coffee: I am taking it day by day and I hope to see changes week by week so I wil have weigh ins but measurements will be weekly checkins. I don't want to get too caught up and drive myself bananas. :dizzy: UPDATE: http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...b/160/128/161/ :o THE BIG PICTURE: http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...b/165/128/161/ ;) __________________ Olgashome www.friendlymortgageloans.com www.bellaonline.com/site/investing |
Olga don't let 1 lb. worry you too much. It could be salt intake made you retain more water. You mentioned your aunt, is she doing the same program as you? One thing I have learned in trying to change my lifestyle with eating is that if you want it I should have it but fit it in to your daily intake. I have over the past few months noticed that I can enjoy some goodies by limiting them better. I try to bake as I enjoy doing that but then put the extras away or give them away. I never could do that in the past. I feel good about that accomplishment. Not saying I never go over because that wouldn't be true but I have more control lately. When your still hungry have a glass of water w/ lemon slices in it. Sometimes that helps! Good luck sounds like your doing okay don't let 1 lb. get to you. Keep up the good effort. Spring is coming new clothes. That is one thing Tired has been thinking about and its a good insight.
Julie hope your doing well. Hope your not to hot. It is snowing here. I just heard the plow go by. I have to take a guy on my caseload into the city for an appt. Hope the roads aren't too bad. I wish snow could be shipped to you! Oh I have to get back into my teas again. Today I will try that at break time. Tiredoffat you mentioned water exercises the other day. My gym had lots of trouble with their pool and filled it in. They made an exercise room in that area. Too bad huh? Oh well I have a doctors appt. on thurs. I am going to mention my hips hurting. It might just be from the incline and building new muscle? Who knows? Anyways I am going to continue to take some motrin to help ease the discomfort. I even noticed it during the night. Maybe taking some med's before bed will help. I see you added grated cheese to your salad doesn't it seem like your having extra? Tricks that help aren't bad at all. Make sure you fill us in on your meeting it helps me learn some new ideas and I am always up for that. Take care. Breakfast: oatmeal, almonds, raisins, cinn. little 1/2 tsp br. sugar 220, coffee Lunch: veggies soup150, salad w/ whole grain croutons, almonds, raspberry dressing 200cal. guessing? Tangelo 100cal. I will add this in later on. Checking in seems to help me stay focused. |
Hi all. Really, really busy day. I've been trying to meet with all the students so I can send their portfolios home with the report cards. It's hard to have multiple individual meetings while everyone else is independently working (or supposed to be working). Anyways, the portfolios look great and the children have done a lot of reflection on their learning. I finished the report cards so the stress is abating.
Tough eating day though - I stayed at work from 7am to 8pm. I brought some healthy snacks, but it was a lot of eating on the run. The meeting went well last night. Interesting info. The leader suggested that I lower the cals in my smoothies because it's better to be chewing cals then drinking all of them - I'm not exactly sure about the difference but I've read that chewing can be more satisfying. You might know about that. She also wants me to trim my cals back down to about 1500-1600 so I'm going to try that. I had a great swim last night and hope to ex again tomorrow. I have two sick sons so I'll be home tomorrow taking care of them - I hate to see them sick. Olga and Carol, I'm glad you're hear. I enjoy reading about your triumphs and challenges. I also like all the tips. Carol, I could feel your exercise energy in your note. breakfast - grapefruit, oatmeal, milk (300) am snack - kashi bar (130) lunch - salad with turkey and grated cheese (300) snack - almonds 2 packs (340) snack - cliff bar (130) lots of water and coffee total so far: 1200. I'll have another 300 tonight to round off to the 1500 - something healthy. Have a good night! |
Hi all. I'm sure that most of you are knee deep in snow and cold. All is well here. Julie, I hope you'll send us some sunshine soon. Take care. I'll check back.

Well girls I felt a bit down today! I got on the scale before going to the doctors. Oh I almost canceled going but I went anyways. I was a bit depressed over my scale reading. But I guess my extras lately as intakes and not being able to exercise as much caught up with me. I think goals need to be set for me so here I go. I will try my best to exercise 3 times a week but 4 would be even better, no eating past 8p.m. and better food choices. Also to use the treamill for at least 30 min. and try to increase my speed to 4.1 and my incline to 5 by the endo of Feb. Today I did work out and at 4.0 for inlcine and speed for 30 min. then did ab's for 3 sets of 12 with an inc. wt.. I couldn't work out any longer my hubbie had an appt. I had to attend. In the past week I let a few things slip in which I know better than to do. Oh well it will be okay. The doctor also said it might be due to my menopause stage of life. Now isn't that wonderful! Well I do enjoy not having a visitor for the past few months but! Oh me oh my I guess the balls in my court. I'd better take it and run or be left behind I guess. At first I thought maybe I should go back to South Beach diet? But then I thought first lets give it an honest whirl and see where it goes. But I am back to the scales once a week. It helps me with ck and balancing I think. Today: coffee and a bagel w/ ff cream ch.
lunch: 1 cup of stuffed gr. pepper w/ br. rice in it and sauce 1 banana Dinner: 1 Arbys regular roast beef w/ horsy sauce almonds 20 Snack 100 cal. It is now after 8 and I am only having some ice water. I picked up some healthy foods to cook for the rest of the week. If you have any encouraging words I think I could use them or a kick in the seat! My friend said I am being to hard on myself and some of it might of been from water wt. , salt intake etc... But I am just upset for slipping backwards. It will be okay I will exercise and as far as the mp thing I don't like to use that for an excuse either. I can and will do this. Oh Tiredoffat the doc. said to me counting calories is kind of the good way to eat as it gives more variety. She also said try to lower the calories intake a bit to get results moving. I didn't count the calories today as I lost my little book gotta go look for it. I think my eating this week had to do with emotions and stress. Gotta get a grip! |
Herbalife Second Mid Second Week
Hi, all. Hi, cacmsc. Do not beat yourself up. I am in the same boat I haven't budged this week on the scale. It seems like you are doing the right things by exercising and eating. I think it may be a plateau. Calorie-counting is definitely the best way to go. What is your range for losing weight? I am doing the Herbalife but I do think there some truth to what tiredoffat stated about liquid calories versus solids. Although the shakes satisfy me, I have an urge to chew. I had one shake this morning and had two meals today versus my usual 2 shakes and 1 meal to satisfy that craving to chew.
I think maybe adding more water to your intake might help or green tea to help the metabolism. My mother is in the ending stages of menopause (I believe) and despite it upsetting her thyroid and cholestrol, she looks better than ever. She has found a way to control it and she lost weight by changing her diet without dieting. I am really proud of her and she looks more rested than as far back as I can remember. I think you are on the right track, just monitor yourself as you stated and see what you can cut back and/or incorporate. My mother gave me the idea of choosing my meals from customized diebetic, cholestrol or other in-kind recipes. She has a point-they're portioned and healthy foods. I am going to give it a try. Another thing I did was go to TJMAXX today and look for cookbooks with recipes that included the calorie count and fat information. They're not diet books, they're just books with recipes and run for about $2-7. You just have to find one that has enough recipes you'll want to make. I didn't calorie count today but I tried keeping portions in mind: Breakfast Shake with half banana coffee sushi rolls 6 at 70 calories= 420 2 pringle chips sushi rolls 8 at 70 calories=560 1 cup of nonfat milk water Not good not bad, hence the plateau. I need more water, green tea and to shake up the food a bit. Here's a to start: Parmesan herb spaghetti squash We're all in it together! ;) |
Hi Carol and Olga, you two are just the medicine I need this morning. I've been on a guilt trip about taking time and energy to get healthy lately. It's good for us to get healthy and we can do it, but it is a process where there's lots to learn. Olga, I like your ideas about finding great recipes with cals and portions. The Moosewood cookbooks have lots and lots of veggie recipes with cals. I need to include more veggies in my overall diet. Carol, thank for the info from the doctor. I think I'll join you with making some rules for my diet. I like your rules. Here's the outline for me. Want to join me and we can check in on these rules too.
Rule one - 1500 cals a day (this seems to be good for me) Rule two - no eating after 8 (I like this one - there's no reason for me to eat after this) Rule three - try to fit in three meals and one-two snacks a day. Rule four - fit the following foods each day 3-4 whole wheat grains (pot. count here), 2-3 fruits, 4-5 veggies, 2-3 calciums, 2-3 proteins a day - good variety. I made a chart on spreadsheet to monitor this. Rule five - exercise at least three days a week, four when possible. Rule five - weigh in once a week, same day each week (the health coach told me that this is imperative so that you can keep a steady weight. She said that even a three pound gain is worthy of some changes) My weigh in day will be Sat. mornings. That will get me to the gym and curb my Friday night eating. Carol I'm not sure what your best calories are - you'll have to determine that. What do you think of the other rules? Should we call it something other than rules??? Olga, what do you think? I'm so glad that you're both here to journey with me. It will be worth it to be as healthy as we can. |
Girls thanks for the extra support, ideas together and we all will be healthier. That is actually our goal is it not to feel good, look good and live a healthier life? I think that I am in on the chart idea too. I will work on one when I get home. Meanwhile hear is a bit of good news for me. I got up this morning looked at that closet door where my white scale lays in. Opened the door and said I have to do this. Thank God it was down 3.5 from yesterday. It must of been water wt. from salt or whatever? All I know is I feel better still up .5 but that is nothing. So just wanted to share. I am glad that it happened in a way as it motivated me to get off this wt. and do the right things. So yah liked the ideas and added to them now we are going somewhere girls. Julie please add in I know you have a mountain of good advice just waiting to add in. After all this is the direction we are all going for so lets do it. I like the idea of saturday wt. day as it will help with accountable fridays. We can all post of actvities, intakes, ideas and any kind of trouble spots. Olga I also liked the recipe please feel free to share more. I also think if you ck in on the south beach recipes you will find some similar ideas. That diet watches the glucose levels , sugars etc. Well off to have breakfast with a friend. I am ordering poached eggs no potatoes, and dry rye bread , coffee. I am only working until 3:30 as I worked over the other night so off to the gym. I am going to get another day in . Mon, thurs, fri.! This is more managable than my trying to do everyday and our goals have to be reachable. Olga I'd like to lose at least 11lbs. I also have thyroid disease, had surgery many years ago. I am sure it all has its toll but no excuses other than what I am doing to myself. I know I can be doing more to make some changes and I am going to do it! We all are right? Cause I sure do need support and company! Have a great day girls and thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Carol, glad to hear your positive outlook. Let's see how I've done on the rules today:
Rule one - 1500 cals a day - YES! Rule two - no eating after 8 I AM DONE FOR TODAY! Rule three - I ate off and on all day - have to work on this one a little more. Rule four - Fairly good variety, not enough veggies or grains though, a little high on protein - something to work on. Rule five - Mon, Wed, Thurs and I'm planning on tomorrow - a Four Day week! Rule five - Tomorrow is weigh in. I still don't like the word rules - what's a better word. Here's a draft of a template we can use - just cut/paste. Feel free to edit - this is a work in progress: DAILY HEALTHY CHOICES CALS: EXERCISE DAYS THIS WEEK: THREE MEALS, TWO SNACKS: VARIETY/#: VEGGIES GRAINS FRUIT PROTEIN CALCIUM OTHER SAT WEIGH IN I'm going to try it for today, let's see how it works: DAILY HEALTHY CHOICES CALS: 1515 EXERCISE DAYS THIS WEEK: M,W, TH, THREE MEALS, TWO SNACKS: still needs work VARIETY/#: VEGGIES__3__GRAINS__2_ FRUIT_3__ PROTEIN__4_ CALCIUM__2_ OTHER 1 (choc) SAT WEIGH IN 175.4 last sat. Have a great night! |
Hi. Went to bed early last night so I was able to get up and start my workout early - great workout of a 3.1 mile run at 5.0 hill setting - tough, but glad I did it.

Tiredoffat Hurray for you!!!!!!!!!!!
I like your idea for the charting and healthy choices great name. How do I put that chart on my site? Or maybe I can't? Is it something I can add in? I am not really sure how to if so. Can you explain it to me? You came up with a good chart and we will make it part of our daily schedule. Once you have done something 10 times it becomes a routine and much easier. Lets hope it sounded good huh? I didn't do too bad on yesterdays intake and I did manage to make it to the gym. But I was feeling a bit off and later in the night started the cough thing. I thought I was lucky enough to skip over it. At any rate I went to bed at 9. Yesterdays workout 3.5 incline and 4.0 for 30min. on the treadmill calories burned 263, 2 miles exact, knee crunches 2 sets, 2 sets of 15 abs . Today is wt. day!! 177.5 up 1 from yesterday. I am not going to let it get to me though as I know eventually the exercise will kick in. I didn't do to bad with my intake yesterday during the day bit high and unhealthy last night. I will curb that! I will make this happen. Intake: good breakfast 2 pro., 2 gr.,1 veg. coffee 400 lunch: 2veg., dressing? 2 dairy, 350 snack: 1 banana 100 dinner: homemade pizza 400, 2 handfuls of carb well cereal 110 snack :300 before 8. After adding it up it was a bit high got to watch those calories. I will try harder to day. Again you did great and your my incentive to do better. Olga and Julie are you out there??????????????? I will ck in later. |
Hi Carol, thanks for the kudos. What you do is highlight the chart on the last entry, then hit copy under your computer's edit key. Then start your new entry and paste the chart into it. I hope that makes sense.
I'm checking in because I had a good day but right now I'm tempted to go wild. I won't though because I'm checking in here to get strong and I don't want to gain the weight I just lost. I really want to get to my goal weight of 150 as I know it is a healthy weight for my body and life!!!!! I will do it, thanks for listening. I went to a party today. Before going I had a healthy filling snack. I planned what I would and wouldn't eat - no alcohol, no desserts, lots of salad and a little of other foods. I did it!!!!! I was so proud. Then for dinner I ordered that huge antipasto and that's what I ate mainly plus one piece of pizza. I simply do not want to eat fat foods unless it's something I absolutely love at a time when I can enjoy it a lot!!!!!! Exercising in the morning seems to curb my desire to eat! That's good. Have you noticed that or read anything about it? Hi all. Tough day here for dieting - really tired and crabby. Why? I don't know probably the weight of what I have to do plus tired bones from yesterday's workout and the boys' arguing. I keep having fantasies about beaches and sunshine. Hope all is well.

Tiredofat I am home sick today and was sick yesterday. I went to the 24 hr. care and it is a sinus infection. The med's have knocked me for a loop. I will try to ck in later. This is one way to only get in my 1500 calories for the day. Gotta go lay down only got on to transfer some funds to cover my cks. written for the doc. Presp. were 60.00 and that was with ins. Wow!
Carol Keep up your efforts and do a bit of exercise for me! |
Hi, I hope you're feeling better. I had one of those sinus infections once and it was the only time in my life that I felt like I knew what it was like to be sick enough to die - it was awful. I hope you'll get better soon. All is well here - no big news, just struggling to stay on track. I'm sending you good wishes and hope you are better soon.
Is your name Carol? I thought is was? Take care. |
Hi, just popping in after a few days to say hey! It looks like you're coming up with great ways to check in with each other. I'm focusing on following my plan much more closely for the next two weeks, despite stress, social events, and wanting to choke my co-workers now and again  I've been losing weight, but very slowly, because I haven't been watching my portions, and I've been using social events as reasons to cheat. And in my defense, I have been fighting mild flu-like symptoms off and on for weeks, someone around me at work is always sick lately. I'm not counting calories, but I'm recording everything that I eat.
Here's my eating plan: protein shake with fruit for breakfast, veggies and 4 oz. protein for lunch (usually a big salad with chicken, tuna or an egg), veggies and 4 oz. protein for dinner (Lean Cuisine with more veggies, or beef, chicken or fish w/2 cups of veggies). Usually no AM snack, an apple or an ounce of almonds if I really can't wait 'til lunch. Protein bar for a late-afternoon snack, and either another protein shake or one last fruit-protein combo for dessert. Exercise: I just joined Curves (strength training and cardio circuit), so I'll go two evenings a week, and Saturday mornings. If the weather's too bad for walking outside (which it was a lot in January, unless I wanted to wear snowshoes to work), 40 mins cardio indoors at least two days a week. Ideally I get up early to either do yoga or meditate. So today, I was up at 7:30 instead of at 6, because I'd been out late dancing and my feet are still killing me! I had a blueberry shake for breakfast, salad w/tuna, a cup of minestrone and an apple for lunch, protein bar for a snack, chicken, brussel sprouts and V8 juice for dinner, and kefir and a pear for dessert. I went to Curves this evening, so assuming I don't roam around in the kitchen after I send this, I had a good day! :D Carol, I hope yo're feeling better! A sinus infection is a real drag. I prescribe mass quantities of chicken soup..... Tired--I'm also fantasing about warm weather. I have to be in sunny Florida in March for work, and am trying to figure out if I can afford to lounge around at a spa or something for a few days while I'm down there. Will see if I can meditate at night without dozing off. At any rate, I'm going to sleep well tonight! |
Hi Judy, you sound on track. You're doing a lot of exercise with all that dancing and working out. Good for you! You sound like you have the three meals-two snacks routine going too which I've read is good. Have you ever thought about tracking your calories. I've had such good luck with that, it also gives me the chance to eat lots and lots of different foods. I pretty much avoid unhealthy foods though, but I try to eat some foods in every food group each day. Good luck and thanks for joining us.

Herbalife Third Week commences...
Hi, Ladies:
Sorry I haven't been around. My fiance's son had his soccer trophy party yesterday at Shakey's Pizza. It was a pretty trying weekend. I missed my weigh in with my aunt. She is an Herbalife Distributor and I decided to give it a fair shot. I fell off the herbalife wagon over the weekend although I did weigh in at 158lbs yesterday and this morning. I went up to 160 lbs tonight but I think its the food and liquids I have had today. Sounds like you women are doing great though other than being a bit sick cacmsc. I hope you get better, look on the bright side-you might burn a couple of lbs. But I do hope you are feeling better. DAILY HEALTHY CHOICES CALS:? EXERCISE DAYS THIS WEEK:none Breakfast: Oatmeal (late) 60 calories Snack: coffee 200 cals & slice starbucks lemon loaf ?????? Lunch: Salmon & Veggies & 1.5 fried mozerella sticks, green tea Dinner: Special K Almond & milk 460 cal Snack: Coffee & Raisins SUN WEIGH IN 158 in morning, then tonight @ 160 lbs Not bad for falling off the wagon, but not good for the overall goal. I am going to make my official weigh in tomorrow night so wish me luck. Olga |
Hi Olga, good luck to you! What's your goal weight? I've been thinking that this health journey really takes lifestyle changes. I really want to make some changes to affect my health and the health of my family. One change I've already made is changing the foods I buy for the house. Now I'm working on including more veggies in meals throughout the day. I want to think about how we spend time too. I want to add more fun, active, family building activities. Any ideas? We like hikes and we love to swim. We belong to a pool and go often, but could probably go more.
Have a good day all. Carol, I hope you're feeling better. It's awful to be sick. Take care. A good start today with a very tough workout! DAILY HEALTHY CHOICES CALS: EXERCISE DAYS THIS WEEK:Monday, Tuesday 45 min treadmill, 5.2 avg, hill THREE MEALS, TWO SNACKS: VARIETY/#: 2 eggs on wheat English muffin for breakfast SAT WEIGH IN 173 |
Hello everyone and thanks for your good wishes while I was ill. I feel much better and will rtn. to work on Wed. I don't know if I lost any wt. but I sure wasn't eating much but I also wasn't moving to far away from the fireplace and the couch. I did manage to go to the library today and put a couple of books on order. Dr. Phil and South Beach just for some extra ideas. I am going to continue to count calories for now as I think if I give it a fair chance it will work out. Tiredoffat my sister and her kids had a snow day and started a fort. They spent hours building it and it got them all together on making something fun and exercising. Does your family enjoy hiking? Find a lake if so and explore something new, take some hot cocoa for the trip. Good luck.Your doing well with making some positive changes for your whole family. You go girl! Olga I copied your recipe but haven't tried it yet. I did manage to make some chicken soup on sunday. Judy a friend of mine has done really well with curves good luck to you! I will get back to the gym thurs. to exercise. Intake:
Breakfast: 1 cup of carb well cereal w/ 2% splash of milk, 2 slices italian br. toasted w/ little marg , 1/2 banana =420 on the high side! Lunch: 1 cup chicken , rice and broc.w/ garlic sauce 350 1/2 egg roll 100 cal. snack: 1 orange 100 cal? Dinner: smoothie made w/ fat free yogurt, blueberries, 1/2 banana ? calories I have to figure it out. Maybe a little bowl of soup ? I am trying to watch my portion intakes more as sometimes I tend to take more than a serving. All changes are for the good. Last week when I tumbled off a bit I read and the article said its part of learning new stragies and noticing shows lifestyle changes. So maybe it was for the good? Who knows I will chalk it up as one of lifes little learning experiences. Talk to you all soon and keep up the good work. I like reading the intakes it may give me some ideas. Carol |
Hi all. Carol, I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. Portion control is one of my challenges too. Good day today. Managed to fit in all the food groups and stay around 1500. Had a good workout on the treadmill. I'm starting to crave exercise - yeah!! I have to stop talking about this health journey at home - my family is getting tired of it. Has anyone else experienced this? Take care.
|
I ended my evening intake with an omelet made with 2 eggs, splash of 2% milk and reduced fat jalopeno ch. and broc. Not too bad and decided not to do the smoothie tonight. I think for the day I ended up around 1400 or so. I read some place to eat around 1400 one day, 1500 the next and then 1600 and back down again its suppose to help with your metabolish rate? Anyone ever heard of this? Oh well if so let me know just wondered. Tiredoffat sometimes family members get sick of hearing our ideas or in my case I have a hubby that can eat anything its hard. Don't let it get to you on here you can say what ever you feel because we are all in this together. One idea or way may trigger one of us to lose or be healthier. Your ideas and thoughts are always welcomed ones. I guess to others we get a bit boring? I don't think of it that way but they might I guess. Just buy healthy foods and try not to say much they will appreciate your changes down the road. Keep up your good efforts and don't let anyone stop you from feeling good about your accomplishments. Remember your doing this for you thats important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk to you soon and hope this helped. I am done eating for the day except for a small little red apple.
