Roll, I love shopping at Trader Joe's and I love yogurt, so I'll definitely check it out! Thanks for the tip. Fruit and yogurt or cottage cheese is my idea of dessert these days.
Julie, I'm glad to have been able to help you with your craving, but I think you sent it to me  I had a piece of very yummy bread with my salad today (meeting at a restaurant), which may have triggered this, I'm not actually hungry. So I made it to the gym last night, and will go back Thursday night. It's still a bit cold out for my 20-minute walks between my office and the subway, so I've been trying to do light aerobics on the days I don't go to the gym "Light aerobics" translates as dancing around to Chaka Khan music for 30-40 minutes. Guess I'll have to do that tonight before dinner. Tomorrow is my first visit to the bariatric doctor's office since Feb. 10, so I really want to make sure that I have a good weigh-in. Have a great evening, ladies! judy |
Well girls it must of been crave day yesterday. I didn't make lunch so while out of the office I stopped at the Greek store. I bought some crusty bread, pepper turkey br. ,roasted red sweet peppers, spicy mustard and made my own sandwich. It was really good. Then I had some greek olives and yogurt. Walnuts for a snack. My down fall was also snacking on the way home on some chex mix spicy low cal. 130 but most likely 2 servings as I didn't pre measure. But then I made a lean pork chop w/ sauerkraut for supper and called it a day. Not sure what my intake really was but different than my norm. I have to count up the calories and record them.
Rollmdl thanks for the nonfat yogurt ideas I think years ago the nutritionist also had said to do that straining idea. I am going to ck it out again thanks for the idea. See we just support each other with ideas and its so helpful. We are all trying so hard. I did make it to the gym but only for 40 min. on the treadmill. But it was a good workout. I have been increasing my speed and incline. I burned 370 cals. today. I also did up and down the 2 flights of stairs at work and parked in God's country too! Parking was bad today nothing even near close. But maybe it was a good thing for me. Judy the dancing sounds like fun. I used to use the Richard Simmons dancing to the oldies tape. Maybe I will have to try it again. It would be a good workout for when I don't get to the gym. Todays plans: exercise possibly I am taking my stuff. Breakfast: 2 poached eggs, 1 rye dry toast, potatoes 400 cals. out to the diner. Lunch: salad w/ lettuce, feta cheese, walnuts, olives, pepper turkey, red roasted peppers and vinegar and olive oil , spices. Yogurt ? cals gotta look them up. Snack:apple 100 cal. large Dinner: homemade chili, w/ crusty bread sNACK: ice cream slim bar 130 cal. Have a super day. |

Good Morning
Judy, Good luck at the Dr.s. I have a visit this Friday and I have gained weight since our last visit so I'm feeling a little apprehensive. Those goals I set a few days ago...................Well, I've been pretty much ignoring them. I went to my water exercise class but I haven't been tracking my calories and haven't been drinking enough water. I hate revealing this but I feel so discouraged. I wish I had a reset button.
I can still do the 3 trips to the gym and act as if I've been following my plan. This remorse I'm feeling is not helpful. Today I'm going for a facial. My friends have gotten me a gift certificate for two birthdays in a row (JULY!!!) and I haven't used them. The woman who gives the facials is an angel. I've been hoarding the certificates and I'd been told by two sources last week that I needed to use them. I know that not using them is a sure sign that I'm in "deprivation mode". Eating plan for the day: breakfast: kashi, nonfat milk and a few raisins lunch: smoothie dinner: chicken salad snack: apple with goat cheese Thanks for listening to me when I'm down. Carol, I love reading your daily intake. You are so creative with food combinations. I am going to try going to the gym tonight. I'll let you know. Roll |
GOOD MORNIG LADIES, just a quick check in from me , feeling a bit down today had a bit of a tiff with hubby last night, he went to bed and didn,t even say goodnight I,ve always had a rule in my home even when my kids were little , you never let the sun go down on your anger even if your really angry you still say goodnight if something happened in the night and you couldn,t see that person anymore you would never forgive yourself I told him if he couldn,t say goodnight then not to bother saying goodbye in the morning when he left for work, guess what he didn,t, this situation with his ex wife and maintenance problem is really waring me down I,m in SYDNEY most of the time working to help outand I seem to miss him more than he misses me he is doing just fine when I,m away and when I come home for awhile he,s indifferent, I can be gone for three weeks at a time and thres no intimacy between us when I come home, when I came home this time he started things but stopped and said he was tired , the next day he said he hurt his back at work so I,ve spent the week on the sofabed in the loungeroom, I was suppose to be going back to SYDNEY yesterday but my cars playing up, the night before he asked me to come to bed because he felt better, I didn,t because at the moment I feel very confused, when he came home yesterday and I was still here he said his back was sore again when I went to get into bed, thats what the argument was about I don,t know whats going on, I,ve taken a long hard look at my marriage and it seems as tho I,m the one whose been hanging in there trying to make it work his attitude is if I,m there I,m there if I,m not I,m not he does fine with out me , so I guess there wasn,t that much there to begin with I knowI said it was just a quick check in but once I started I couldn,t stop, I,m so sorry for boring you all this post is a real bummer I know please take no notice , just me offloading I find sometimes if I write what I,m feeling down it helps me to deal with them in amore positive way instead of heading for the biscut barrel or ice cream, anyway take care, keep up the good work, ROLL hang in there my friend don,t be to harsh on yourself I know you have a lot on your plate with your family, but remember you are doing this for yourself and there are always bumps in the road on any journey so the weight you think you,ve put on just look at it as a detour and get back on track with different focuses the fact that your exerciseing is telling me your still committed to this journey so keep it up , bye for now BLESSED BE, JULIE

Roll, I love facials! I had one a few weeks ago for the first time in ages. I do my own at home every month or so, when I have a slow Saturday or Sunday and can play "home spa." But it's so much nicer to put yourself in someone else's hands. And even better to have friends who want to make sure that you get pampered from time to time. Don't feel badly about your progress, Roll, this road isn't always going to be straight. Just do what you need to do to stay on it with us, and you'll see forward progress again, I know it :cheer:
Julie--we have to stop describing this yummy food in so much detail, it's making my mouth water just reading some of these posts :hungry: I'm so sorry to hear about the tension with your hubby. It's so hard to keep up the intimacy in a long-distance relationship. I hope that the two of you will find a way to talk about how you each are feeling. I'm sending you positive thought waves.... Carol--sounds like you have things under control! Hope it's going well for you today. I went to the dr's office. She's a bariatric doctor, so her patients are all focused on issues related to weight loss and nutrition. Usually I just see one of the nutritionists, as I did today. We discussed why I'm not losing faster (portion control, not working out enough), but it wasn't a bad session. Even so, I left in a weird, kinda angry mood, and stopped in at a Starbucks on my way to the office for chai tea and pound cake, neither of which is on my plan, of course. I'm on my way to the gym now, so I'll do an extra workout and try to figure out why I had this little self-destructive snit! Otherwise, today I've been EPP: turkey sausages and V8 juice for b'fast, apple and almonds for late AM snack, salad w/chicken for lunch, and a protein bar around 4PM. More tomorrow! In the meantime, be well, everyone. |
Julie its good to unwind sometimes its the only way to take a good look at things. Give yourself some time to think things over. Being away from each other is good for awhile but can have its ups and downs. Don't ever worry about unloading here its a good place to get support. I read an article yesterday and for some people who just do fad diets they generally fail at some pt. but support groups for people are generally valued and people reach their goal. So lets all hang in there.
Rollmdl it will all come together. It seems to take a bit of time to get back on track don't be so hard on yourself. Keep up the exercise and your intake doesn't look bad? I am looking forward to doing my measurements and wt. on saturday my day to do so. I feel like its all starting to work out for me. I think the thyroid meds being regulated have helped. I am less tired at night and have more energy. I am taking a couple hours personnal today and going to the gym. Then later having my little 5 yr. old grandaughter over for the night. We are taking her out to eat. I will try to be good today knowing I'm going out later and will try to increase my workout a bit longer to have a few extra cal'sl later on. My boss whom is pretty and tall and slim actually said to me a couple of days ago you look good. I all of a sudden noticed how thin your getting. It was nice to hear her say something so positive. I do see some differences in my clothes and how they fit. So I still have aways to go thats for sure! Judy I most likely would of stopped for that tea and pound cake too! Its all about feeling like I can do this and when I am ready I will! You ate it had your say and went off to the gym. Good for you. But I think its good for you to be going for extra support. I hope you share some of the info.. I printed out some info. yesterday but haven't had time to read it yet. This weekend I will have to do that and will share any good stuff. Intake today; 2 eggs, multigrain english muffin 280, little canola marg. 30, coffee Yogurt snack time. Lunch = yesterdays salad Greek with homemade dressing I had gone out for spanish rice. Little high in carbs! yesterday Dinner ? Take care everyone! Tiredoffat where are you? I miss hearing from you. |

Carol, thanks so much for your kind words. I think my TOM is next week, which contributes to my spazzy eating pattern lately.
Julie, I'm glad that you feel supported by the group. I don't think you should apologize for sharing your thoughts. Men can certainly stress you out.... Today was okay, except for an urgent need to eat too many tortilla chips. I danced for 35 minutes this morning, had a blueberry smoothie for breakfast, an apple and a piece of cheese late AM, chicken fajita (without the tortilla) for lunch, someone else's tortilla chips (boo), a protein bar for later afternoon. Tomorrow I have a lot of rushing about, and a party....wish me luck. Take care! judy |
Hi all,
It is good to "hear" your words. I wish I could "talk" to you more, but my computer is totally infected. I can hardly get to this site without many many minutes of trial and error. Due to our time constraints here it will probably be summer before we can really fix the problem, so I'll have to be in and out which stinks!!!! Julie, it was good to read your words. It's so hard when your hubby is entrenched with his own issues, we all know it happens but it's no fun. Carol, I can see that you're still the steady support everyone looks forward to. As far as the diet goes it's been an uphill battle for me lately. I don't know why exactly but it seems like life has become very, very busy in the last few weeks. I'm maintaining a size 12 so far (much better than the size 20 of August) and I'm exercising a lot, but I want to eat all the time - that's the down side that needs help. I might try to access this site at school so I can chat more often. I wish you all well. I will be back somehow. Take care. |
G,DAY :strong: :angel:s, JUST AN AFTERNOON CHECK IN, HEY TIRED so good to see you pop in I hope your computer problems will sort themselves out :thanks: for the support and encouragement as always, JUDY I appreciate you saying I shouldn,t apologize for sharing my thoughts, it helps a lot its funny I always say the same thing to others and yet its something I do all the time :o stems from my childhood so I,ve been told ;) :) anyway with all the other stuff I,m coming to grips with I forgot something important I have been back on my healthy eating for life plan for 1 week now and I did my weigh in this morning and I,ve lost 2kgs thats nearly 5 lb so when I put my mind to it I can do it ;) other stuff doesn,t seem so important at the moment , I,m on a natural high  I maybe not be able to do much about other stuff but I know I can see this journey through to the end just have to stay focused and take it 1 week at a time this time instead of looking long term which is why I think I get off track now and then I look at how long it may take and think oooh my God I,ll never do it something I guess we have all gone through :dizzy: TIRED your maintaining thats great WOW every time I read that you have gone from a size 20 to a 12 I get goose bumps and I can,t wait untill I can know what that feels like, your still exerciseing thats terrific, I find that I seem to want food all the time in the colder months , its just mind over matter your mind tricks you into thinking you need the extra fuel then you feel guilty if you give in, if you have to eat make sure its healthy I find a nice hot cup vegie soup with a couple of rice crackers curbs the hunger pangs in winter, at the moment it is supposed to be the 5th day of winter but somebody forgot to tell the sun that it is still quite hot, so if I hear the food  nudging I have a big bowl of salad I can eat as much as I want and feel satisfied without the guilt, I hope you enjoy your party JUDY and don,t worry about eating too much just remember everything in moderation ;) everything is allowed just in moderation , CAROL I bet you felt so proud of yourself when your boss complimented on how good your looking its one thing when we think we are doing well and can feel the difference but what a buzz when others start to notice our hard efforts paying off, well bye for now hi ROLL hope your well catch you later, BLESSED BE, JULIE

Hello everyone! Tiredoffat so glad to hear from you! Don't forget you are important and sometimes you need to schedule time for yourself. Look at how far you have come we are all happy for you! How that computer gets fixed cause we all need you around here! We have indeed missed your input.
Judy have fun at the party. Work out a bit harder the day after to make up for the little extra's but have fun and don't miss out on foods you don't normally have a chance to enjoy. Once someone wrote about intake during holidays. They said eat what foods are treats you don't normally have an leave the normal stuff behind. Makes sense I guess. Enjoy! You can always dance a few min. longer! Julie your doing great 1 week into a life time of healthy changes. Keep up your spirits only you have the control to make the changes work or not work. We don't have much control in somethings in our lifes but one thing we do have it in food choices we can make. So continue to look forward not backwards and take one day at a time. I The scale was down and every little bit counts! 1.5lbs. I didn't do my measurements but will on sunday gotta locate the tape. At any rate I am pleased with the 1.5 but know that if I had stuck to my intake a bit closer it would of been better. But sometimes yah just let things slip in a bit. I am going to the gym today for my workout yesterday I just never got there. I have set a goal up for myself 3 times a wk. at least. I also set a plan up for myself with wt. goals. I am shooting for 5.5lbs. for March I am still 4lbs. to go. So lets see how I do. I too have Tom coming for a visit maybe or maybe not. I had gotten rid of him for a few months then he came for an awful visit last month. I am hoping he's gone off again time will tell. But sometimes during his visits I have wanted salty crunchy, sweet stuff not good. He also always brings with him some extra water wt. Oh well enough about him. Hope your all going to have a great weekend. It is cold in Central New York but sunny! I will try to ck in over the weekend as it helps me to stay focused and not stray away to foods that aren't such good choices. Workout today at least for 50 min. Breakfast: 1 multigrain enlish muffin w/ little canola 150 cal. 1 yogurt w/ 2 Tablespoons granola 140 cal. Lunch? |
GOOD MORNING LADIES , it is 1.45 in the morning here downunder can,t sleep so thought I,d say hi, I was really tempted to snack on some chips but I,ve had an apple instead it satified the crunch craving and I don,t feel guilty, sorry to hear you had a bad time last month with Tom CAROL I,m lucky he doesn,t visit me any more I,m desexed, lol, anyway I,m going to put on a movie and hope it makes me sleepy funny when you just want to go to lala land your mind has other ideas, oh well, bye for now, BLESSED BE , JULIE

Ooops, Nearly Forgot, Way To Go With The 1.5lb Loss Carol Keep It Up, To Me Thats Not Little Its Hard To Lose A Tub Of Butter, Have You Ever Really Looked At A Tub Of Butter Thats A Lot Of Fat, I Like Being Back On Track Its Much Better To Be Positive Rather Than Doom And Gloom So Sorry Guys To Be Such A Downer These Days But No More , I,m Back , Julie

Good Morning
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. My facial was wonderful. I was like a mini vacation. Went to the doctors yesterday. I've had some problems with liver function. I'm thinking it has to do will all the fat in my diet the past few years. Anyway, I have to have more tests done. It's just another wake up call. If my tests show that I have a fatty liver...........I guess I'll HAVE to change my diet. I don't drink so it wouldn't be caused by liquor.
Tired, great to hear from you. My computer has been acting up as well. It's so time consuming and confusing trying to straighten things out. I'm planning to go to the gym with my daughter later this afternoon. My food plan: breakfast: scrambled eggs with red peppers lunch: smoothie dinner: beef and mixed vegetables snack: yogurt and walnuts Lots of water and licorice tea. Judy, hope you had a great time at your party. I think dancing is such a wonderful form of exercise! I don't know why I don't do it. Thanks for reminding me. Julie, I'm so sorry about your troubles with your husband. Relationships are supposed to be the most difficult of the spiritual paths. They are such an in-your-face example of powerlessness. You are always in my prayers. Way to go with the weight loss. You too, Carol. Thanks for being here. Roll |
Quick stop in having friends in for dinner tonight. Well I made it to the workout and only did 40 min. but a good solid one, sweat trophies and all. I like knowing the workout is really worth it. I just got to this pt. recently.
I had that cute little grandaughter who wanted pizza so I slipped up a bit on lunch. Rollmdl I recently tried the walnuts in my yogurt it was great. Crunchy and tasted like a treat. I have purchased 10 yogurts for this weeks treats. With friends coming they wanted to bring dessert but I said I would do something. Well I made apple crisp and will put some ice cream on theirs and the hubbies mine I will put in a little purex 1/2 cup glass with a bit of whipped lite cream. Not a biggy. I did make a tough choice today. I stopped at the bakery and bought only 6 treats and no extras for me. I gave the hubby and my daughters family the rest. Well gotta go the steaks need to go on the grill soon. I also am grilling out on a 33 degree day! I have planned baked potatoes lite sour cream, salad w/ good homemade dressing, broccoli and steak. I will try to stay away from the bread a friend is bringing. Well take care everyone and keep up the good work . Oh weekends aren't so easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
HI, :love:ly :angel:s  its so good to have such great support :thanks: for the kind words ROLL, my hubby are a bit better I said somethings to him last night and he took it onboard and actually saw where I was coming from for a change, things are still a bit rocky but if he learns to talk to me instead of shutting down hopefully we will make it ;) good luck with your tests I will put you in my prayers as always and sending oceans of wishes for you, I know what you mean about your facial being like a mini holiday, you just close your eyes and your somewhere else ooooh wonderful,CAROL I know what its like when the grandkids are over its hard to be good when they wantwhat really isn,t GOOD for your eating plan, but a little of what you fancy will not break the hard work you,ve done so far, your dinner sounds yummy hope it goes well, bye for now I,ll check in again tomorrow, BLESSED BE, JULIE

Oh girls sunday wasn't a good day not to bore you all but wow! My friend is bringing up a 16 yr. old son whom has given her a real run for her money. She called for my support and I spent 3 hours over there. When I was done I wanted to eat everything talk about emotional eating!!!!!!!!! Oh my but I did catch myself towards the end of the day and drink 2 big glasses of ice water and came down to reality. I better not do that again my hard efforts will go down the drain from earlier on.
Rollmdl your doing a wonderful job parenting and those efforts and extras will pay off. Keeping kids busy and helping keeps you involved in whats happening in their lifes smart move. So when you get tired just remember it will pay off in the end. I did alot of things with my kids and I think it did make the difference they weren't perfect but just teenagers, no real big issues. Your doing good with your intakes and thumbs up for going to workout. Eat less move more , but eat healthy. Julie glad to hear things are moving in the right direction with the hubby. Men are so different than us thats a big problem. They don't hink the way we do. When you try to talk about something they generally clam up. In counseling years ago the guy said to me that when an argument is over the man is ready to never talk about it again. Us ladies now we like to talk and see why it happened, what we can do to fix it etc. Men are from Mars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well good luck. Your intake was much better than mine yesterday but today is another day and I am going to workout and eat healthy. Intake: multi grain eng. muffin w/ canola little! 1 tangerine Snack: yogurt Lunch: broccoli soup, spinach salad w/ orange slices, walnuts, mushrooms w/ wine vinegar and olive oil spices. Dinner: chicken w/ garlic, cajun spices, peppers, onions and rice Snack: ? |
Good Morning
Thanks about the fruit suggestion, Julie. I stopped eating fruit, pretty much, when I was doing the low carb high protein diet. I'm not doing that now but I've gotten out of the habit of considering fruit as a choice. Not such a good move. I have noticed that when I eat it alone, it's fine and good, but when I eat it with most protein foods, I get gas. Lovely. Happy to share that with you. :cp: :cp: :cp:
I'll make a concerted effort to eat fruit as a snack. I'm happy to say that I did drag myself to the gym at about 4 pm yesterday for a short, easy, workout and got up this morning to do the 9 am water aerobics class. I listened to the soundtrack to "Bridget Jones' Diary" for motivation while lifting weights. It works. It felt self indulgent. Julie, I'm so glad that things are going better for you and your husband. Carol, thanks for the support with my parenting duties. I't really rewarding and fun and sometimes taxing. Sometimes I don't want to "show up" but I usually take care of business. I just wasn't in the mood for a mob scene yesterday but, luckily, my daughter wanted to cut it short so she could go to her "girlband" practice and then rollerskating---------without me = gym time for me. Well, I've got a busy day ahead of me. I bought 1/4 cow so I have to clean the freezer out today. Food plan: breakfast: egg salad on wheat bread Lunch: pineapple smoothie lunch: steak salad (mexican style) Snack: some piece of fruit, I don't know what kind yet. I weighed myself this morning. I weigh 167.8. No comment  Love to you all, Roll |
hi--stealing a moment here to check in and say hello! My weekend was a bit indulgent, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Saturday I went to the gym, went to a seminar hosted by the folks running the local Avon walk-athon to raise money to fight breast cancer, and went to a friend's party. I ate very lightly all day, and didn't do too much damage at the party. Sunday was one of those days that makes me appreciate being single--I spent most of it in bed, dozing, reading and chatting on the phone. Ah, it was heavenly.
Today I've eaten on program, except for half a cookie this afternoon (no evening snack for me!). Although winter hasn't totally left, it's tantalizingly spring-like today, and I'm very excited about the good weather ahead. Julie--I hope that you are having a wonderful day! It was so nice to hear about your progress on the home front. And I agree with you about learning to enjoy things in moderation. I can't cut out food altogether, like cigarettes, so I have to make my peace with it. Carol--you sound like you were being a very good friend yesterday! It's hard sometimes not to absorb someone else's pain, especially if it's someone you feel very close to. I really admire counselors and other people who can sit with someone else's pain with an open heart, and not want to run to the refrigerator or bar immediately afterward! Carol, it sounds like you didn't go very far off track, not much harm was done. Roll--I hope things are going well for you! A Quarter of a Cow :moo: ! That's a lot of beef.I love reading your menus, they sound so tasty! Tired--I'm so sorry to hear about your computer. Maybe there's a library or something close by where you can go and check in without a big hassle. Today is gym day. At Curves they check your weight and measurements for you every month or so if you want, so on Saturday I learned that I lost 5 inches and 6.5 pounds since 1/24. It's not a scorching pace, but I'll take it. Make good choices, everybody. judy |

We are planning a girls weekend in May to Toronto Canada. It will be lots of fun better start saving I guess. Its only about 4.5 hrs away and a beautiful place lots to do and see. We have gone a few years back and stay at a place where we can walk to many things. Yesterday I jumped right back on track and felt good about that. I went to the gym after work its finally feeling like a regular routine. Just get in the car and know where your off to no second thoughts about doing something else instead. I hope that thought stays with me. I couldn't get on the newer treadmills so started my workout w/ wt. resistants instead. Wow that was different! I did a varied amount of wts. any where from 60lbs. to 95 depending on the actvity. It felt good but some were hard I admit. In the end I ended up with a treadmill of my choice and worked out only 15min. but it felt good much harder to do in the end though. I know its best to do that 1st. but the gym was crowded. Today we have snow again and the roads are slick. I am going to come home a bit early and take an hour of time I think. I am not going to work out today but come home and sew. Tiredoffat hey this site seems to be a bit faster these days maybe it was the site. Ck it out! We miss your wisdom and visits. Judy sounds like you had a good time and good for you losing wt. I lost my measurements now I have to start all over again. I kept them posted in my bathroom closet they must of fell and got shot out. yOUR EATING LOOKS GOOD. Hey Roll send a steak this way! When we had everyone home we used to get more meat. It is so good! Your doing great keep up the good efforts and the payoffs will be coming up thats for sure. Julie your pumpkin soup sounds so good. You give yourself a lot of variety in your diet. I try to do that as well then I don't feel so deprived of things. Good job! Stayed to food plan yesterday! Today: 1 multi gr. eng. muffin w/ canola marg little 1/2 banana Snack: yogurt w/ 2 T. walnuts oh so good! Lunch: chicken cubed cajan, fresh spinach leaves, mushrooms, almond slivers, tangerine pieces, red onion diced and oj and balsamic vinegar for dressing w/ garlic seasonings. Dinner: ? to be decided later on. Snack 1 apple |

Hi, ladies--
I didn't go grocery shopping this weekend, so I'm going to run soon to get some fresh produce. Just wanted to wish everyone a great day! Carol, yaay for thinking of the gym as 'routine'! You are definitely on your way when working out is something you look forward to. This has been a good day. I had a berry smoothie for breakfast, cottage cheese and pineapple for a snack, a big bowl of chicken-veggie soup for lunch, and a protein bar late afternoon. I will have roast pork loin and more veggies for dinner, maybe more fruit for dessert. If you ever need a lift, go over to the "success" threads. There's one called "What will you do when you reach your goals?" that over 11,000 people have viewed..... Bye--judy |
Hello everyone just a quick ck. this a.m.. Thanks Judy for the thought I hope your right. I am packed to go to work and have my workout stuff with me. I am going to workout inbetween appts. today due to the fact I can't do one appt. til later on anyways. Might as well make good use of my time. I can't wait til spring so I can take a walk around the lake. Right now its to slippery. I read some interesting infl. on wt. training and how it raises your metabolism and builds bone density. Quite interesing info. it was in the Ladies Home Journal January copy. If you can get your hands on one there are a few good readings in it. Just good info. I didn't do too bad yesterday but it was a busy day. One of my clients mom insisted I have a piece of pizza so of course how can you say no when she has it read. So I ate a smaller dinner last night but I am not sure it was all so healthy. I baked some potatoe strips in a bit of olive oil , and had a tomatoe sandwich. Well so much for that healthy salad I had for lunch. But I guess it could of been much worse.
Break= 2 poached eggs, dk rye toast dry, potatoes Lunch= soup broccoli homemade lower cal. w/ salad Snack= yogurt w/ walnuts Dinner= hamburger grilled w/ mushrooms / veggies no bread snack= 1 apple |
Hi All
Well I finished the day at 1600 cal. yesterday. I ended up having a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch instead of Chinese food.
I didn't exercise but got to the gym this morning for the water aerobics class. I was sore after Monday's class. I used to do the take it easy water exercise class and now I've moved up to the aerobic class. It's much more challenging. I like the teacher----friendly but no nonsense and she knows what she's doing. It's never boring. I feel so blessed to be able to exercise in this way. I want to balance my workouts with weight training. I love listening to music while I work out. Carol, I love hearing about your workouts. I want to have the attitude you have. Looking forward to working out and trying to find a way to fit it in rather than finding a reason to squeeze it out. I used to feel that way. I don't think the mind shift will take too long because I do have a past that included working out on a regular basis. I remember what that felt like. Judy, thanks for the tip about the success threads. I think I'll go there during my afternoon "this is hopeless" slump. Julie, ginger marmalade? That sounds like something I need in my life. I love ginger. Cottage cheese on a sandwich. Good idea. I like my sandwiches to be squishy and mayonaise is such a high price to pay for that effect. Thanks. Cottage cheese and ginger sandwich----hmmmmmmmm. With lettuce. eating plan for today: Breakfast: kashi w/ 1% milk energy bar w/ 1 pat butter (a little high in calories but it's too late and that workout stimulated my appetite) lunch: leftover mexican stew on a slice of bread dinner: hamburger patty w/ vegetable salad snacks: strawberries and an apple w/ goat cheese Love to you all, Roll ps. for you, Julie------ :) :coffee:  :spin:  :coffee: :cb: :coffee:  :flow1: :dancer: :coffee: :coffee: :bubbles: |
GOOD MORNING, :angel:s, its a beautiful autumn day here downunder quite warm in fact, good to see everyone working out and enjoying themselves, CAROL you always make exercising sound such fun, I love to walk to , it gives me time to think and put things in order I,ve been doing some short walks as part of my physio for my knee after a few tests DOC said it wasn,t as bad as he thought I had just badly strained it and did minor cartlidge damage no SURGERY needed  :cb: :cheer: I have had enough of treatments hospitals and all that jazz  TIRED hope your well and hanging in there on your maintenance plan I miss your input , HEY ROLL :thanks: for all the smilies but are you trying to tell me something with all that :coffee: , I know what you mean I love ginger in cooking, choc coated ginger, crystalized ginger when its hot in taste and you,ve got that combination off sweet and heat yum, riccotta cheese would be better with ginger marmalade on toast as it is sweeter than cottage and is also low in fat and cals, just a thought, your intake looks good , your choice at lunch was a sound one, and I,m sure your workout made up for the few extra cals, good to see your trying to get more fruit in as well, HI JUDY you sound like your on track to I like it when everyone puts in the plan for the day shows your doing well also gives me some tips when I,m looking for something different other than what I,ve planned for, my day has started good hubby and I seem to be handling things a bit more positivily :crossed: his :ziplip: are coming undone slowly but its a start, PLAN FOR THE DAY,
BREKKI/ SLICE OF FRUIT LOAF WITH HONEY, OOOOH :coffee: SNACK/ GRAPES, GREEN TEA LUNCH/ DRY FRY TOMATOES, MUSHROOMS, ONIONS AND A DASH WORSTERSHIRE SAUCE ON MULTIGRAIN TOAST, GREEN TEA SNACK/ APPLE, GREEN TEA DINNER/ TUNA, HERBS & SPICES, FRITATA WITH STEAMED CARROTS AND GREEN BEANS IN SOY, HONEY AND GARLIC, WW JELLY AND LOW FAT CUSTARD Well bye for now KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, STAY FOCUSED, ENJOY THE JOURNEY ITS NOT REALLY THE DESTINATION THATS IMPORTANT BUT HOW YOU GET THERE, BLESSED BE , JULIE |
Hello everyone!
Glad to see your all hanging in there and doing well. We have all increased our intakes to include such good choices. Hurray for everyone! On the exercise note it seems like we are all doing well and trying our best. For me it was actually writing myself a goal to workout at least 3 times a week and checking my schedule and then making certain days for workouts. Sometiems I only go for 45 min or longer but that is better than not going. Yesterday I got there for only 50 min. but did some treadmill and wt training. I feel like a regular as when I go there are always some familar faces around. I try to change my routine so that it mixes it up a bit. I read that is a good thing who knows I try almost anything once! Crazy huh? Rollmdl I am jealous over your swim classes they filled our pool in. That sounds like so much fun. Julie I feel for you with your knee. I live on taking daily at least one 800 mg. of motrin in the morning. Sometimes I need it more but it seems to help when the knee starts up. Well the sun is shining and our storm we were to get last night fizzled out a bit. We are almost to spring and I love all the seasons. Julie fall for you isn't our world a funny place? Oh well I can't wait to get in the garden and pick some spring flowers. If this snow doesn't go away the kids will be doing their Easter Egg Hunt in the snow! Crazy. Its not that far away. But |

I read that is a good thing who knows I try almost anything once! My book came in from the library Ab's Diet I will ck it out and see what I get out of it. I generally get something from each thing I read. Someone asked me the other day what diet I am on. Really I couldn't say as I am doing my own thing I guess. But tracking my intake and exercise makes a difference for me. In May I am going off with the girls to Toronto and hope to buy some new clothes. Crazy huh? Rollmdl I am jealous over your swim classes they filled our pool in. That sounds like so much fun. Julie I feel for you with your knee. But at least it is a pretty day today! Tom came for a visit oh! At any rate hopefully a short visit. I am going to hold off on my scale ck until he is gone as it effects my wt. I miss hearing from our friend Tired! Have a great day everyone! Don't be a slug! Exercise burns calories and you'll feel better and want to eat better and raise your metabolism. Intake today: Breakfast = 1 english muffin mult. and jam. 200 cal. Lunch= ? going to pick something up Snack yogurt 90 cal. Dinner= chicken and spinach w/ garlic, onions and reduced fat cheese melted over it cooked in alittle olive oil, lemon pepper seasonings. That Mexican stew sounds good. Got the recipe? I love anything spicy! |
Just a quick note so that you know that I haven't abandoned you! I had a good day, gym in the AM, usual eating pattern, but I ate a cannoli in mid-afternoon and my stomach feels horrible! A co-worker brought in some home-made banana bread, and I was so proud of myself for not even smelling it, then someone else brought in a box of Italian pastries. I went to a meeting, so I figured they'd be gone by the time I got out, but no....I'm paying the price. If I always felt this way after eating sweets, I'd look like Halle Berry.
More tomorrow--in the meantime, stay away from the cannolis! judy |
good afternoon
Couldn't get to the computer this morning. I found the ginger marmalade at a store last night and had the sandwich I described yesterday. My daughter looked at me like I was crazy when I offered to make one for her, too. Not five minutes later, she was in the kitchen making one for herself. It really hit the spot. Crunchy, gooshy and sweet, but not too sweet.
I had a chicken salad for breakfast and I'm about to have some strawberries for a snack. Late light lunch: open-faced cottage cheese w/ ginger marmalade & lettuce (again) dinner: burger patty with mixed vegetables and cheese I plan on doing a light workout at the gym tonight (at 8:45) Julie, great news about your knees!!!! :dancer: :dancer:    :dancer: I've started a simple exercise log. I'm one who likes to see progress and accomplishments on paper. Lined notebook paper-date-day-time of day-activity-duration. Judy, If you pass up one cannoli a day for one year.................We're all changing our behavior and consciousness in a very human way. It's progress. You're doing great! How smart not to stick your nose into that banana bread! My nose gets me into trouble all the time. Have fun in Toronto, Carol. It sounds like your girlfriends are fun. I haven't gone clothes shopping with a girlfriend for a long time. That is something to look forward to. Talk to y'all soon. Love, Roll |

Wow! Everyone is doing so well proud of all of us I am! I am going to ck out this ginger marmalade its got to be in the big super market. Yesterday was busy took the hubby to the doctors and then worked a half of day. And was it ever a day very very stressful but I kept it together not really going off! Just lots of important things to handle I had 10 messages awaiting for my arrival and many which needed attention right away. That is never fun. Oh well I made it through it all and have today off a vacation day. I have to go with my grandaughter and daughter to the Orthopedic doctor today. I will go to listen, support and ask questions as needed. My little 5 year old grandaughter has some gaite problems and its time to find out why. These things are never easy. Life sure does have some challenges in store for us. I am going to the gym on saturday instead of today I just couldn't seem to think about it fitting into my schedule.
As far as eating went yesterday it was around 1500 cal.s not too bad. I did change around my intake a bit. No breakfast more cals used for lunch, chicken soup for dinner etc. Judy I don't blame you those are my favorites. I go to an Italian village about 40 min. away with some girl friends and we go for lunch and pack up lots of sweets for home. We always go in the spring time so its coming up. Maybe before Easter I will get there. Sometimes we just have to have a little something sorry it made you feel sick. Maybe if you would of had just an inch of it. I seem to be better than I ever was at taking a little I used to just go with out of eat it all. I guess I am coming to grips with it all I can only pray thats right. Rollmdl keep up that good attitude your headed in the right direction keep going! I can't wasit to shop out of town. Julie so good to hear your doing so well too! Every little wt. off is a step in the right direction. Keep moving and eating healthy! Your banana bread sounds great. I love it mom makes it but I am sure she doesn't make it with less cals. Is there a web site for that magazine? If so can you give it to me they have such good info. and recipes I'd be real interested in checking it out. I'll ck in later w/ intake. Breakfast= 1 multi. grain english muffin w/ canola little, 1 yogurt w/ 2 T. walnuts= 275 |
Hi All
I'm in the middle of a way too busy day. I ate before going to bed for the first time in a long time. I didn't sleep well and my tummy was upset when I woke up this morning.
Live and learn (hopefully) Breakfast: small burger patty and 1 fried egg snack: cantelope lunch: smoothie snack: orange dinner: chicken salad Didn't make it to the gym last night ---- going to the gym now.... Love to all----you're all doing great. Roll :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: |
Julie--yaay for you, two pounds gone and no knee surgery, a week with a little good news, yes? :flow1: I hope you get some rest and renewal this weekend.
Roll, I agree with you about tracking your progress. I struggle to make myself keep up a simple log, but I do like going to the little graph at the end of the week that shows my overall (downward) progress from week to week. It helps keep my spirits up when I'm not losing as fast as I like. Today I've changed my weight ticker to reflect that this morning the scale said 237, woo-hoo :dancer: If I can lose three more pounds by Easter (just two weeks away, eek!), I will have achieved my next mini-goal. Carol--You've had a lot to deal with these past few days. Good for you, not using all this stress as an excuse to pig out! That's my biggest challenge. I hope that the doctor's visit went well today. I'm doing well today. I had a bit of ham for b'fast, running out the door; an apple and some almonds later on; a cup of chicken soup and a Lean Cuisine beef and broccoli for lunch, and a protein bar around 4PM. I'll have big salad for dinner--I'm leaving town for a few days, and need to eat up the perishables. I'll try to check in again tomorrow. In the meantime, have a great day! judy |
Judy thank you for your thoughts. It was a busy day. My grandaughters doctor thinks she is just pigeon toed from the way she was in the womb. Who knows he does hope that she will out grow it and we all pray she does. She such a little sweetie! Well after all the morning bog I went out for lunch and had chinese. Oh I am sure it had to be around 700 calories or so. But on a good note I gave my daughter the left over pieces and the rice. I had water and tea that must count for something. So for dinner I ate a few dried apricots and some roasted peanuts, water and will have a yogurt later. I guess I am trying to save myself!!!!!!!!!!!!! Send me a lifesaver someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No exercise to speak of today but plan on going to the gym on saturday. Then the grandson the 8 yr.old is coming to stay over. We will either go out for dinner or have pizza his choice. I will try to pre fit it into my intake for the day. Gotta have some extra water this evening to drown out my intake from earlier today. At least it was tasty. If your going to go awall it helps if it was worth it. Judy have fun on your days away. Sounds like fun getting away. I was just thinking today my next trip will be in Hawaii next year I hope to see my son and daughter inlaw. Julie hope your enjoying that fall weather. I love the fall going for a walk in the crunchy leaves. Do you get a lot of reds and golds in your area? Rollmdl good for you making it to the gym and your intake looks alot more healthier than mine today. Well I am going to go sew and stay out of trouble for awhileHave a great weekend this site sure does help! |
