Oh Lush! I remember those pre-teen days. One girl told me that "your DS has the finest b*tt in the 6th grade!" Like that would impress me. I was shocked. If only these girls would understand that the boys like to do the chasing. My DS (age 21) told me that he and his girlfriend haven't had s*x, "she's a nice girl". And you can tell he's really impressed with that.

I've got to get out of work a little early today - I forgot to buy my steaks for our traditional Canada Day bbq.

I am exhausted. Wiped. Dead on my feet. I scrubbed the bejesus out of the main cabin of the boat and cleaned all the cubbies and shelves and counters. All I have left is getting all the stuff hauled up there and stowed (and DH has to help me with that) and cleaning the stove and "fridge" (i.e. non-powered fridge shaped cupboard. God I hope there's not anything left over from 2 years ago in there...that's where we usually keep the bread. argh.) Yep, that's all. Nothing to it.

Hmm, how shall I celebrate Canada Day? I'd make DH take me out to dinner (some of his ancestors were from Canada ), but I know he will "not have time" because of getting the boat ready. And we already did pizza/sandwiches last night. And I don't want to go to the grocery store. But I have to. God I want to do a lot of whining. waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You've got your hands full, Lush. Boys that age around here spend most of their summer doing baseball or basketball camp every morning at the recreation area. I think they then go home and take out their fathers' 3 and 4 wheelers and drive across people's lawns and into trees and stuff. So really the same. I used to like summer better when I had to drive DD back and forth for swim lessons and crafts or theater. I had structure. I have none now. Of course she still drags me out of the house to drive her places, but there's no schedule. I do nothing without a schedule. A dog would help; I'd have to get up and walk/feed it.

I am so tired my brain is addled. I just typed a letter and it didn't look right so I backspaced and typed it again and it still didn't look right so I did it a couple more times. Then I realized that the mouse pointer was on top of the letter obscuring part of it. Sometimes it is shocking to be me.

I colored this post in bright colors in hopes of waking myself up. So far not working.

You know how my life is always Lemony Snickety? When I was a kid, I came home and my parents had given my puppy away. And they didn't mention it. It's like they thought I wouldn't notice. I didn't go out on my own and bring home a puppy. One of them went with me.

My high school graduating class has a few people left alive and they are having a reuniionin August. Seems they have them regularly but I didn't know. It's far and I'd like to go but probably won't.

I am having a frustrating day. For example, someone put upm a sign and blocked off a road because they own it as of a few months ago. Everyone thought it was a real road. Anyway, a word on the sign was misspelled so I quoted it and put (sic) and someone else, dunno who, correctred the spelling and left the sic so I look like Queen Mother Idiot.

Sheesh, this is not your week, is it? Can it really be possible for a newspaper person not to know the meaning of (sic)? Incredible.

Are you sure you didn't just misplace your puppy? You should write a book about your life. It will sound like Dickens.

I finished all the blasted boat cleaning and lugging. Then I ate greasy fried scallops and french fries for dinner.

I'm whiney too, Kiwi. We can whine together. DH's duffel bag from his fishing trip is still sitting in the kitchen floor. He rolled in 2 coolers with leftover food. They are still sitting in the kitchen. Apparently he thinks he should have a vacation, then bring all his stuff back and dump it in the floor and I'm supposed to clean it all up and put things away. I don't think so. Then we were supposed to have taken today and tuesday off, so we could have a 5 day weekend. Now he's decided that we're too busy at work and since he's had a little vacation he doesn't need to take any more time off. And I know I could take the time anyway, but there is nobody to fill in for me here, and besides, I'd just end up staying home and cleaning. This weekend he will be baling hay. Real entertaining. wah-wah-wah.

Peach, what brought up the puppy memory? My parents told me if I gave away my little lamb that they would buy me a bride doll. They gave away my lamb, but no bride doll. At least I knew little lamby was going. Ah, childhood trauma.

I think I'm going to cry. Peaches lost her puppy and Wabbit had to give up her lamby.

My DH = your DH, Wab. One summer he packed a duffle bag about every weekend to go sailing and when he came he would just dump the dirty clothes in the laundry room, then leave the bag half full until the next weekend. It about drove me crazy. If I complained he would just say "why should I unpack it, I'm just going to repack the same things." So I let it go, he usually managed to get it up to the bedroom at least. Then the summer ended, the weekend trips ended and the damn duffel bag sat there half-packed until the next summer. He's been known to look all over the house for something that was in his unpacked suitcase or duffel bag. And the coolers in the kitchen? "Oh, yeah, I'll take care of them" Hah. Only if I piss and moan enough. Men. Can't live with 'em. Can't kill 'em.

I am blessedly alone and unencumbered today! DH went with the sailboat down to the coast and DD spent the night at her friend's house and is earning some money painting a porch with her today. What shall I do? La de dah.

I believe we all need a vacation (okay, maybe I don't really need one, but I'll take one anyway) and we should plan one together! How about Paris? Hawaii? Bali? Let's all win a spa vacation, how would that be? Or we could go on Oprah and complain loudly that we have never been able to all get together and she'll send us on a vacation. Yeah, that could work. Who knows Oprah?

HI Cows...my boys are out riding this morning. When they return, they'll drop all their dirty clothes on the laundry room floor. I need a vacation, too.

We're having lots of 4th of July fun today. People are trying to get us to have 4th of July fun tomorrow, but I HATE parades.

I wanna see the kitty.

I figured out why we love aminals. We're nurturing and they need us. They don't argue or boss.

Where are we going on vacation/

I know. Either way, it hurts. But I've had it happen both ways, and I much prefer knowing what happened and where my poor kitty is. Doesn't stop the sadness, but it does stop the endless wondering.

Anyway, I'm so glad you got a new sweet fluffy kitten!

You're really a bad girl at heart, aren't you, Sugar? Good luck on the packing. I still have 2 more days to procrastinate before I pack.

What are they riding? Horses? Bikes? Quads?

My DD tells me she hates parades too. I love 'em, but I never go to any because no one will go with me. ~pout~ I know they're stupid, especially the local ones, but I love them anyway. I'm just a big sucker. I get teary-eyed when I see majorettes.

Speaking of teary-eyed, DD sang in the park last night for Open Mike night. Outside of school performances, this is the biggest crowd she's ever performed in front of, and she absolutely shone. It helped that she was 2nd to get up there, after the guy who organized it. I think he was grateful that someone who was prepared and confident had showed up early and was willing to go right on, but anyway he introduced her and gave her a great build-up, plus the sound system was working great. The crowd was very noisy, but once she started singing there was a great hush. That's what made me teary Anyway, she was terrif. About 10 minutes later, it started pouring rain, but they continued with the performing because the bandstand is covered and there were also some big tents for people to sit under, but most of the performers had to fight the sound of the rain.

Later, gotta go do taxi duty.
