Talking Hey!

That's what I looked like when I got back from my lovely p*p t*st yesterday. Bleh. Ob/gyn says my delicate problem is perfectly normal and hopefully I won't have to "put up with it much longer". Which means that he WANTS me to be dark and menopausal. How rude.

After that it was off the the regular doc to discuss results of blood tests for thyroid. Apparently I, couch potato supreme, have high blood pressure, which he says is OK for a 70 yr old woman, but not for me. Need to go back in three months and possibly have a 24 hr. blood pressure monitor thingy. Wunnerful. Maybe a vacation will calm me down.

HI all,
Poor Sugar....the darkness and menopausalness are coming upon you????? Look on the bright side...that means you are only what feels like 40 years away from post-menopausal zest.

I'm lazy and bored. I don't feel like doing anything....except watching Gilmore Girls and eating. I must exert discipline. bye

Sugar, you might as well join the rest of us DAM women. It's really not too bad - it gives you an excuse for being b*tchy and moody.

Lush, what's so bad about watching Gilmore Girls and eating? I went home from work yesterday and slept, then woke up for pizza that was delivered when everyone figured out I wasn't cooking, then read a book until midnight, then went back to sleep. A lovely evening.

If you want to read a good book, I recommend My Sister's Keeper. About a girl who sues for medical emancipation so that she won't have to donate a kidney to her sick sister. I couldn't put it down.

What fun, eh Sugar? Good luck; I hope they don't have to "cuff" you.

I rescheduled my doctor's appointment. I'm giving myself 2 months to make some progress back on the fitness track. DD's been riding her bicycle this week, maybe I can get inspired to ride too Hey, stop that laughing. Really, I could.

I made popovers last night. MMMM I only got one though, cuz dd had her friend over who is helping wax the boat and they went bike riding and brought home another kid from down the road (for the 2nd day in a row), just in time for dinner. Except they all had to wait for quite some time while my "quick pressure cooker" beef stew got done. I think I need to replace something on that thing. Sheesh.

That book sounds very interesting, Wabbit. Is it a true story?

I'm so itchy. We have such a lovely assortment of biting insects around here. My arms look like I have a rash.

By the way, it cost me $60 to have my cat's teeth cleaned. I think ends any discussion about whether it is worthwhile...

I bet it would be more than $60 at my vet. She keeps them overnight. She also wants the fuzzy cat two weeks in advance for lab work. He's voting for Kerry.

Smart kitty.

Now I want you to all put down your bacon and go read the latest "Why Low-Carb ISN'T the Way to Go" on the 3fc home page. Makes sense to me.

Still fat in case anyone was wondering.

Kiwi, it's a fiction book, but it deals with some non fiction medical ethical issues. In the story the girl was purposely conceived to be a donor to her sister with leukemia. Wasn't that something that was in the news a few years back?

Sugar, I don't care if you've lost any weight. You look mah-velous to me. I've never believed in the low carb thing anyway. It just doesn't make sense to me. It's not something you can sustain over a lifetime. I know too many ppl who have lost a bunch, just to regain more. Oh. Kinda like me with WW's.

DH left for his BC fishing trip this morning at 2:30. Of course he had to wake me up and of course I couldn't sleep very well once he left. I can't believe he went off and left me with all these kids. I'd cleaned before I went to bed. By the time I got up this morning the kitchen was wiped out again, and dishes littered the family room.

I can't see any good reason to keep a cat overnight because of a simple procedure. My vet has you bring them in first thing in the morning and he does all the surgery/etc. in the AM; you can pick them up late in the afternoon. The owner is responsible for not feeding the cat for 12 hours ahead of time. Having the cat in 2 weeks ahead for screening tests is a good idea though. I guess different vets have a different threshold for balancing cost and carefulness. Around here, cost concerns get a high priority. We're a cheap bunch up here in Nowheresville.

Very interesting, Wabbit -- what a creepy thing to do, have a kid just for her organs, eh? No wonder she refused. Too bad you couldn't have sent the kids on the fishing trip, eh? Maybe you should hide the dishes and buy some paper plates

I'm selling cr*p on eBay again. Gotta get some more things on. Ta-taa

I remember that Wabbo. Here's about it ... http://www.op.org/domcentral/study/kor/90031107.htm

Kiwi ... I think vets live ironic lives. One on hand they love and want to save animals. On the other, they want to rip off humans. Our vet goes out 3x a week to feed feral cats. I believe she catches and neuters. At least. she advocates that. But for our cats .. she has expensive ideas like give them monthly flea treatments 2x a month; clean their little teeth. She says one has a heart murmur. Lots of humans have hearts murmurs. I don't want to hear it.

bye. I'm online today because yesterday was the trip to Tally. i found the best restaurant in the world there if you'regoing.

Attempt 2 at replying.

It probably just seemed wonderful because in Dogpatch you will be served veggies that came in a big can.

We happened on this place at 10:45. They open at 11:00 but invited us in and they were printing the menu so we couldn't order yet.

The daily lunch menu had about 10 salads $5 each. You could order 1/2 salad and $2.50. That amazed me. Half a Subway sandwich has a $1 added on.

DS ordered 1/2 the mozzarella and cheese salad which was slices of each piled up which leaves around it. They looked like peach leaves to me but he ate everything he could see. There was dressing of course.

Lunch entres maxed at $10. Ours were $8 and $9. I got pepper-rubbed salmon with long-grained rice, orzo, spinach and fried garbonzos. He got Cuban-style pork roast (not at allll greasy), rice and beans and yams cooked with green onions. Everything on the menu(except calamari)looked amazing.

Ds's grandfather's funeral was Jewish, of course. DS took part in some Jewish tradition prayer ceremony and he liked the rabbi so now he'd like to know more. I emaiiled a temple and asked if could visit and got back a nice reply.

The reason I asked first was that I visited one as a teen, with a friend, and was asked to light the candles! Yikes. It was scary. She jumped up and volunteered.
