Weighty Issues #16

Welcome to the June edition of the Weighty Issues Thread. We are a group of awesome women who support each other through the highs and lows of every day life--it's not just about weight loss, it's about LIFE. If you have something to say or need a shoulder to cry on, Weighty Issues is the place to be. Come on in, grab a chair and stay and chat a while. You'll be glad you did!

Now lets all get serious about losing some weight. We will be happy that we did!!!!

angieME 06-01-2004 09:27 AM

Well, I had just done a nice long post and I lost it!!! I hate it when that happens.

Okay, I weighed myself yesterday and the scales said I weigh 191 pounds. :yikes: I am ready to lose this weight. I want to be back to 140 pounds again. I dont want to look like this if I can get to meet Kempy.

I am going to try to at least get in one great day and go from there. I am so fat feeling that it is uncomfortable. I cant wait to lose about 20 pounds to be feeling a bit better.

I will check back later.

Kempyd 06-01-2004 10:25 AM

Well, the count down has begun. 30 days left until the big 3-0. I am trying to deal with it like a woman.

I am glad that you guys are going to join in a this challenge. I think that is we make small goals we will reach them.

I wasn't able to get here over the weekend b/c my internet was down. What a royal pain in the butt. I never realized how much I missed it when I didn't have it. Shcool is going good. I should be out around Aug 19th. When I miss a day it pushes back my graduation date. I hate that too. I am really ready to get out. We did get another student though. She only comes in on Saturdays though so I wont be around her very much. I think it will only be something like 12 times that I will see her. I am ready for her to start to work on me though. Usuallt students will work on each other but I havn't had anyone to wokr on me so I feel that it is my time for hair removal. I have paid my dues and now she needs to practice on someone.

Ok, I have a few things I need to do today so I will be back soon.

GEMonster 06-01-2004 10:46 AM

June is halfway there

Hey Ladies!

Can you believe it - the year is at the half way point? That is crazy :cb:

I hope all of you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thank you all for the advice on my business partner it is much appreciated. :^: It is just disappointing not to be treated the way one hopes one would be treated..anyway...

Julie it sounds like a great weekend with exercise included! Happy birthday to your boy! :hb:

Noelle your boys graduation sounds precious! Congratulations to you and Rick! I hope you fully enjoyed the king crab legs et al. I hope you enjoyed the beach despite having your arm twisted.

Angie and your talk of lobster...I'm drooling more than my dog :hungry: (sorry for that visual). I hope your husband gave you a foot rub for all the work you did this weekend.

Cal - 8 more days :dancer: I would be having a parade. Enjoy your time but congrats on making it through the year!

Angie you can only take it a day at a time! I feel squidgy :sumo: alot but I feel better than where I was. If I start thinking about it a week at a time I go cukoo! I have made a promise to myself - that I will not have any kids until I am at a weight that is healthy so I know what I can go back to. Luckily DH understands that.

Kempy  I hope you had a great memorial day weekend.

p.s. Does anyone know how to paste a photo here? I cannot figure it out!

:lol3: Summer :lol3:

melekalikimaka 06-01-2004 04:02 PM

Happy first day of June! Great quote Summer, I really like that one.

Well, I did enjoy the beach despite myself. We went to a nearby beach which has 5 man-made lagoons. It's part of a resort area which isn't fully developed yet but they keep the parking stalls at a minimum so the beach doesn't get overly crowded. We actually paid $10 to valet park at the hotel (boo). The upside was that the beach was really clean and not too many people crowding all around. I brought a bottle of bubble soap and a bubble ring (one with lots of holes in it to make lots and lots of bubbles with minimum effort). I sat upwind and just let the bubbles fly. A lot of the beachgoers enjoyed it too. It was nice to put a smile on people's faces. Rick and Mikey swam and built sand castles and I just relaxed under a coconut tree with my book. We did go to the fair in the later afternoon and rode some rides and played some games. Boy, carvnivals can really put a drain on your wallet can't they? We had a really fun day though.

Angie, I didn't step on the scale this morning but I did make a conscious effort to have a healthy breakfast--some wheat toast w/peanut butter and sugar-free jelly. I think the exercise will be the hardest for me to pick up again. I need to come visit the site often for inspiration to keep me from wanting to pig-out. The first few days are sooo hard.

Julie, glad you had a good time with your in-laws, that was sweet of them.

Wish I could reply to everyone but work is calling. I'll be back later for sure

angieME 06-01-2004 04:21 PM

Hi. I forgot to tell you guys about my knee yesterday. I was watching the kittens at the end of the driveway while I was walking down to check on them(They were staring at some birds in the trees and I didnt want them to bug them if they were building nests) anyway I fell and slid across the gravel and dug the **** out of the whole knee cap. It hurt so bad.

I am going to try to post the pic of Rebel in a minute so I will try to explain it if I can get it to work.

angieME 06-01-2004 04:32 PM

Here is the pic of Rebel

1 Attachment(s)
Isnt he cute?

angieME 06-01-2004 04:34 PM

okay, First you need to shrink your pics on your computer. I just do them to 1/4 page on my Picture it. Then you come here and hit the Post Reply button and type in your message. Then go to the Attach Files at the bottom of the page and hit brouse and it will show you your pics. Pick the ones you want then hit upload and then submit your post. I hope this helps.

melekalikimaka 06-01-2004 08:11 PM

Rebel goes Hollywood... Ouch, that knee must be sore! Hopefully it's just a scrape and nothing more serious. Take it easy.

Well, I got through the morning and lunch OK. Now to keep my mind on work and get through the afternoon :crossed:. I'll let you guys know how I did tomorrow morning.
While we were at the beach yesterday Michael took some pics of me and Rick...yikes! I knew I was getting fat again but boy, those pics really showed it to me. I am keeping those pics for use when I feel like reaching for the chocolates or chips.

Kempyd 06-02-2004 01:53 PM

AURGH!!! Can we say stressful day? :stress: Usually I am happy it is almost 1pm but today I have so much to do. I have no idea where the day has gone. I still need to get payroll together, place a supplement order and try to make sense of my desk. It looks like I threw up paper. Sorry for the visual.

You guys must be pretty busy too. I am the only one on here for today and it is after lunch right now. I would say that I am doing good on the diet but I am bloated right now from PMS so I have no idea what is real weight and what is water weight.

I hope to see some of you one here today.

Angie I love the pic or Rebel. The things we do to our animals, huh. I need to start taking a few of mine. The only funny things they have been doing lately is crawling in the culvert under our driveway and laying in the water. I am going to the store today to buy them a pool. I am tired of the being muddy from the ditch. I think them laying in a pool will be cute to see.

angieME 06-02-2004 02:38 PM

Hi. Sorry I am so late today but we got up early to go to Ticketmaster to buy tickets for Jay and the kids for Monster Jam this weekend. I am staying home but my sister and I are trying to trick my Mom into going out to dinner together for her birthday.(maybe someone will buy mine too since it is my birthday too. ) Of course it is Chinese. :yikes: I did okay yesterday but I did eat a few of the mini Twix bars. I still consider it a success because I did pass up an egg roll, terriyaki steak,lo mein,Skor bars and ice cream all day that was sitting right here.

Today I passed up fresh chocolate chip cookies and Wendy's and had a ham sandwich and WOW chips but I have to make a batch of No bake cookies for the accounts later(That will be a big test for me.)

We went to the pet store today and played with some puppies. I hate that they allow pet stores to even exist though with the crap they do. The lady had a JR/Shih-tzu mix and told a customer that they did it because JR are so hyper and the Shitzu would make them calmer. My neighbor has a Shi-tzu and she is way more hyper than Rebel is. I almost puked and then she went on to say that one is $750.00!!! HUH??? The puppies were cute though. I feel so bad for them having to start their lives out there.

Well, I had better get back to work.

I will be back!!

jbbm 06-02-2004 06:01 PM

Hey Girls

I have made two long post earlier today, and poof gone! Ugh!!!! That makes me so mad.

Angie hope your knee feels better. Take it easy and do not over do it. Ice it girl. I love the doggie pic, what a star she is!

Kempy I was in tears once today because of these stupid hormones. I am carrying what feels to be like 10 pounds of extra water. Yuck! Don't you just feel like you want to run as far away as you can during this pms-pretom time or go to bed for a week ! We will make it through this. I hope ;).
Hope your day de-stresses for ya a little bit.

Noelle I am glad you went to the beach. You are a beautiful woman, and I am not just saying that. Your skin and hair look great from the pictures I have seen of you. So don't be so hard on yourself about the pics that Michael took. I mean it, you are so pretty!

Yesterday was ds b-day. It rained all day but we had fun. Poor hus took off work and it rained and today is beautiful sunny and 68 degrees. I ate a huge mongo piece of cake, and one the day before that at MIL's house, and my mom is making one this weekend and my dd's b-day is in two weeks  :o!!!! And you can't forget the ice cream ! Oh I can't wait for tom comes to visit me. I just want to have a talk with it!!!! Sorry not making sense. Hormones kicking in again . Whats for dinner tonight? We are going to have hamburgers on the grill and probally some salty chips :p :D. Oh I hope you guys are going to be around alot this week I need to talk, vent, cry, laugh, and just need someone. Feeling kind of alone. I tried posting 2 or 3 three times and would not work lets try this time :crossed:! Check in later girlies....Julie btw I hope I did not bring anyone down with this post, I know misery loves company....sorry! Hugs

jbbm 06-02-2004 06:03 PM

YEAH IT WORKED !!!!

melekalikimaka 06-02-2004 07:20 PM

Whew, kind of running-around-non-stop kind of day for me. I still have to bring my in-laws to the airport to go home :cb: ...Just a quick post.

Angie, $750 for a Jack-Schitz? Good job on resisting the Chinese! :bravo: Can't say the same for me. I had to go and buy a bunch of Chinese food for the in-laws to take home, I couldn't resist buying some for lunch. Bad me! Man, when am I ever going to get that "click"? I did pretty great yesterday except for some plain m&m's in the evening. You know how you sit and watch TV and that mindless munching begins...gosh, I'm glad I stopped at one "grab". Those were those big SHrek sized suckers too. What's Monster Jam?

Julie, thanks for the compliments :^:, I'm embarrassed now  It's nice to be told that once in a while though, especially when we're feeling frumpy, or squidgy as Summer said. Happy belated b-day to your boy :hb:.

Kempy, hope your day turned out OK. :grouphug: Hugs to everyone who needs them!

I gotta get back to work for now. Hi to everyone else

angieME 06-03-2004 09:52 AM

Morning!! Well, I caved last night. I ended up eating a big fat honey bun and 4 no bake cookies!!!! :yikes: I know Noelle, I wished the click would happen for me too. It is so easy once I can get in the right frame of mind but getting there is the hardest thing to do.

Monster Jam is the Monster truck show. Corey loves the GraveDigger so Jay wanted to take him to actually watch them race and crush stuff and since I would rather watch paint dry I am staying home. Actually we are taking my Mom out for dinner so I wont be too bored.

Jack Shitz!!  I told Jay that I wanted a Beagle Jack Russell mix so I could name it SPROUT.... Get it? It would be a Brussell sprout. hahaha

Julie, I will try to post alot so we can talk all weekend. If you ever want my phone number so we can talk in person I will give it to you. Ya know I would love that too.

Oh gross, I tried to take my bandaids off my knee last night and the skin was like stuck to the band aid so I wanted to puke and figured I would wait until I take my shower this morning and then just try to keep the bandaids off from now on so it will just scab over and heal. I get queasy pretty easy.

My sis and I are tryiong to get all of the old photo albums so we can get a DVD made for Mom with all the old pics and music so I was going through all of my old ones and I found a pic of Alicia and Brit when they were really little and Alicia was flipping the camera off while Brit watched and her little hand was trying to copy her. I remember when it happend and Alicia didnt have a clue what she was doing but she thought it was neat that she could do it. I guess I will use that one in her DVD. My kids were so cute when they were little. They were all so blonde. It sucks that their hair got all dark now because it was so blonde it was almost white.

Well, I need to jump in the shower. I will check back later.

jbbm 06-03-2004 07:52 PM

Going to try again!

Hey girls gonna try and post again. Everytime I do poof! I don't know if it is the site or my computer. I am feeling so :coffee:blah today. Ds on his first day of being five was up on the hour throwing up all night long. I am soooo tired. He puked all over my lazy-boy recliner, the seat part. Got the carpet cleaner out and cleaned it but it is shot. So I am going to go buy a cheap couple of chairs. Oh Kempy my dear, see what you have to look foward to if you want to have kids ! Well enough whining from me about pms and puke! How is everyone doing?

Angie you get quesy easy? Don't come here ;). No, really I hope your knee feels better. Try soaking it to remove the bandage or like you said leave it on but maybe put squeeze some antibiotic ointment in it if you can. You had all white haired blondies huh? So cute. Mine have more of a sandy brown colored hair.

Noelle, your welcome babe! Is work booming for you guys? How are you doing staying OP? For supper tonight we had pan fried chix breast, salad, and fresh out of the oven sourdough bread (hus stopped on the way home from work and bought the bread) it was so good. I could have eaten the whole loaf of bread with tons on butter on it. Actually I almost did, had four pieces. CARBS=YUM! I miss AI. But I don't want January to come to soon for the next season. Maybe Paula and Simon will get married before the next show! I would love it! Or atleast he dumped his girlfriend and they would start dating.

Well I can hardly type or keep my eyes open. I hope tonight is easier. Last night at 2-4 a.m. I told my hus these are really the easy days of parenting. Soon they will be out driving and won't know where in the world they are! Gotta keep postivie some way. Hope to hear from everyone soon! Julie
I hope this post finally works.... :crossed:

GEMonster 06-03-2004 08:05 PM

Greeting from the Nut house

Evening Ladies!

 Greetings from the Nut House! That is what I call my house when DH and I work on it...we get a little goofy. Work is crazy but wann hear something former business partner got new job offer reneged becasue we went after him with the contract he signs which has a big emboldened section called THE NON COMPETE CLAUSE which he apparently thought we would not use. :p I am trying to feel sorry but I can't... moral of the story - don't piss me off!

Julie if I could just limit my hormones to raging just when it is tom or pms - I'd love it ;) happy birthday to your dear boy :hb: I hope you at least enjoyed the cake! Don't completely crucify yourself...we are all learning moderation and what is worth splurging on :soap: - okay maybe that is just my "humble" philosophy...what do I know...I just keep trying till something works!

Angie thanks for the advice on the posting pics - I just gotta figure how to resize my photos and I'll send it out! I know this hurts but please put some hydrogen peroxide or Bactine on your knee so there is no infection. I just scraped my knee remember! We could have a contest with breeding names..the bullshitz, shitzapoo, golden shitz...sorry a little :stars: today. I love the old photo idea - I did something of the like for my parents anniversary and that was fun because there are some pictures no child (no matter what age) should see of their parent :yikes: Dad in leopard skin print tight pants and a pirates shirt and john lennon sunglasses :yikes: sorry had to share my pain...

Noelle :cp: for taking a moment at a time. What do you think - again with my theories - maybe if we just kept thinking about other things outside of food but concentrate on other aspects of our health and well being that it would click for us? I think it could. I know when I start thinking of what I should eat I dwell (okay obsess) on what I shouldn't have :hungry: BTW - I am so glad to hear you survived the in-laws! Enjoy your beautiful weather :sunny:

Kempy I hope your day got better and that pool you thought about getting your puppies is a reality. My dog avoid puddles and the hose - So we are going to try a pool - but who knows ?

I hope all of you have a wonderful evening!

Thank You

Thank you Summer! I hope and pray thing go more smoothly tonight. I hope no one at work gives you a hard time or else they are in for it ;)! Julie

Kempyd 06-03-2004 10:39 PM

Hey guys, I am posting with my eyes barely open. I am sooo tired when it is TOM. I am ready to go to bed right now but I just wanted to post and say, I CAN"T STOP EATING!!! Here I am supposed to be the one who loses 3 lbs by July 1st ans I think I am putting them on instead. I really think it is the PMS but this really sucks.

I bought the pool and the poo poo heads wont get in it. Echo just walks circle around it and then they go jump in the ditch.

Angie Neosporine really helps. I am a firm beliver in the stuff. I have a huge tube of it and I use it all of the time I have even put it on the dogs.

Ok, I don't have the energy to write anything else so I will be back tomorrow.

angieME 06-04-2004 10:49 AM

Good Morning girls. I just took the dogs for a SHORT walk. It was nice but I havent moved in so long that my legs got all red and itchy.(remember the feeling from riding the school bus?) Tigger wouldnt stop playing near the road so I had to wait until Jay came home so he wouldnt follow me and Jay said that after I left Tigger sat at the end of the driveway and howled for about 5 minutes. When I came home he came running to me for huggies. That cat loves me so much.

Alright Summer, I guess you showed him whose boss, huh? Serves him right. I got the bandaid off yesterday and now I just let it scab over. It actually feels alot better since I did that. I took the skin off the whole damn kneecap. I am a clutz.

Julie, Did you get any more sleep last night. I hope so. I hope your son feels better too. I should be PMSing anytime I guess. My period is changing every month so I am not sure when it will come until Jay gets his headache.

Kempy,Dont feel bad, I have messed up everyday this week. I had to make some fudge for the bakery last night so I ate a piece of that plus a nobake cookie and a honeybun. And that was all yesterday. :yikes: Tomorrow we take my Mom out to dinner and then I guess Clyde(moms best friend and me and my sis'honerary Mom) want to go out again to the Olive Garden after the Big birthday party. I only hope I can at least get a grip to get the next 30 pounds off before we go to Florida again. I told Jay that he is definately going to get a snowmobile this year bceause when he has one and he takes off for the day it is easier for me to crank the stereo and workout. I think that is why I didnt actually do any workouts all this winter.

We sat up all night watching old movies of the kids when they were little. They sounded like the 3 chipmunks. What is sad is that I see things on the tapes that I never noticed while it was happening.I wished I had taken more time with them instead of being so short tempered back then. You can see them fighting for individual attention and stuff. It made me feel bad because I never noticed it when they were little because I was so busy trying to do everyday stuff. Corey got the short end of the stick growing up too. I notice it still but I try to not do it. He didnt stand a chance growing up with so many girls. He is playing in makeup and we had him in a pink snowsuit. hahaha I dont even remember that one!@!! The kids love to sit and watch those with us. Brittany told me when she was 4 that she was having 4 kids(2 boys and 2 girls) because Mimmie(my Mom) said so. She said I only want 2 girls but Mimmie said I was having 4 kids. She said she was going to marry Corey too. Sorry to ramble about the kids so much but it brought back so many memories. Especially since Brit will officially be a teen in October. Where did the time go. It seems like it is dragging then you think back and bam they are all grown up.

Oh yeah, I was so FAT on all of the tapes that it made me feel a little better about how I look now even if I gained back a ton of weight. I swear it didnt even look like me.

jbbm 06-04-2004 12:17 PM

Good Morning or Afternoon Everyone

Angie have fun going out tonight. Your mom is going to be fifty right? My mom turns fifty next year. I hope you have a good time you deserve to get out! I love the Olive Garden, they have great bloody marys and breadsticks. Happy Birthday to Angie's mom :hb:!!!! I love looking at old movies too! It is always a blast and sometimes can bring back feelings

Sorry this is short but the kids are calling and just wanted to say Hi! Thank god no more sickness from my son. But the recliner is wrecked so in the next month or two I want to get a new one when we have the funds! Julie

jbbm 06-04-2004 12:28 PM

Kempy glad to see you posted on a day you usually don't, come talk this weekend if you want, I feel the exact same way you do! The pms is a monster this month. Your not alone. I wish I could just go lay out in the sun and sleep but the kids are around. So NO time for myself! Oh well slap a smile on my face and go on with the day :D!

angieME 06-04-2004 04:02 PM

Julie, actually my Mom's Birthday isnt until July 1(that is the same day as me and my twins and Kempy's birthday too. ) So we have my neices birthday on June 16,My parents anniversary on June 17,Jay's Birthday on June 18,My Dad's birthday on June 28 and Me,Mom,Corey and Alicia's Birthday on July 1. So we roll it all into one big birthday party but this year since she is turning 50 we are doing her Over The Hill party. We did Dad's last year.

Does anyone know if you can rent any Margarita machines or anything for parties? I want to have a bunch of margaritas at the party but I dont want to sit in the house and mix them all day. When we were in Florida at one of the restaurants that we went to they had one but I am not sure if you can rent them at party supply stores or not.

Oh dont even get me started about the breadsticks. I love them with the Alfredo sauce for dipping. YUM!!

melekalikimaka 06-04-2004 10:11 PM

Hey girls, it's late in the day but I still wanted to pop in and say Hi . I've got tickets to go see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban tonight (yeah, I'm a geeky fan of those books too). I started re-reading the books since the movie was coming out. I've read Azkaban and am halfway through the Goblet of Fire. My niece was the one who brought the Sorcerers Stone home way back when, I think she was 11 then? Anyway, those books are some of the most read in our house. I even bought Michael his own paperback set of the first 4--and he can't even read yet. He loves it when I read it to him though, and he must've seen the first 2 videos a hundred times over. Anyway rambling again. Does anyone have anything great planned for the weekend? I may try to see Shrek 2 too--I'm such a big kid at heart :dizzy:

Angie, I'm pretty sure you can rent one of those slushy machines from a party rental store. Where I live you can rent those big balloon jumpers for parties and even stuff like sno-cone or slush machines or even full-on popcorn poppers like the movies. Surf the net and maybe you'll find somewhere nearby? Have a good weekend w/your sis and mom. Gosh, your parents are so young compared to mine. I was the last kid and my mom started kinda late...my parents are probably the age of your grandparents. Don't talk about the Olive Garden--we see the commercials here but don't even have one restaurant on the island (did we have this conversation same time last year? )

Julie, so glad the boy is better. I'm sure your TLC made it all go away quick. :)

Kempy, hang in there girl. I think I'm a week behind you guys, but like Angie said, the dates can change without a moments notice

Hello to Summer, Cal, Holly and anyone else lurking out there. Have a wonderful weekend.

melekalikimaka 06-04-2004 10:16 PM

Almost forgot! I was driving my mom around on errands yesterday and the conversation was about the median price of homes here in HI (which keeps freakin' skyrocketing)...anyway, right now the median is about $465K I think. She mentioned that she may just end up selling us the house--like what my grandmother did for her before she died. Isn't that cool? I mean, I have 6 siblings but most of them already have houses and families. I hope we can talk more about this seriously without too much hassle from the "others". It's up to her what she wants to do with her house and she mentioned it without any prompting from me. There is a glimmer of hope for me yet

GEMonster 06-05-2004 10:11 AM

I  am cukoo for cocoa puffs over Harry Potter! I love the stories. I have no kids to read them to but I am in line when the books first come at the bookstore! Love Love Love Love Love
I am a big kid at heart too! Climbing trees, wrestling my 18 year old brother, etc. Just a big kid who likes her wine ;)

This is my last free weekend for 6 weeks! We have weddings, baby showers, relatives visiting, graduations etc. In New York graduation is not until the end of June. :p

Angie you can rent the machines for slushies (which can be improvised as a frozen margarita dispenser) around here so I would imagine you can in Maine. That is such a great idea! I just would park myself under the spicket and fight through the brain freeze :dizzy: Enjoy the dinner with your Mom and sister!

Noelle that would be so cool about the house! :dancer: I will keep praying that it will work out.

Kempy how are you? coping with the heat I hope! but how are you doing? :comp:

Julie I hope you are catching up on your sleep and that mother nature is bringing some nicer weather to you :sunny:

Hi to Cal and Holly and anyone else I may have missed.

Happy Saturday Sweethearts

Good morning girls

Angie sorry I thought your mom's b-day was yesterday....but that is so neat that you, your mom, and kids, and Kemp's b-day are all on the same day. How great to have a big party like that. About the machine rental, I know we have a store in town that rents everything from grills to furniture. Maybe there is something like that in Bangor? I wish I could come, have not had a margarita in 6 years between being pregnant and breastfeeding. But now I am in the clear and ready to party! Only if I would get invited to one :( :D!

Noelle my prayers are good thoughts are with you about the house. That is just wonderful news. I got the biggest smile on my face when I read your post. Good things happen to good people! I hope and pray you get it someday soon. I know how much you want a house to call your own. Your mom sounds like a sweetheart. And yes my mom is really young. She will be fifty next year. She had me when she was 19 turning 20. Maybe that is why we butt heads sometimes !

Summer I am glad you and Noelle are kids at heart. They see the world the way it should be. Have a great weekend, relax because it sounds like you will be busy.

Kempy please come out and post if you have time, I am not feeling better either in that area but TOM is suppose to come over tomorrow, so maybe then. What do you have planned? School today and yard work tomorrow? It never ends does it.

Well gotta get going, or btw did anyone watch 20/20 last night? They showed a teenage guy maybe 18 years old and had no legs, they were cut off at the torso and he was such an awesome person with a great outlook. He uses a wheelchair but walks on his hands upstairs and everything, he does everything for himself. He said don't see me as a inspiration, this is what I have and I do the best I can. I was tears after hearing that. And then I think about my stupid bit**ing and I felt bad. I thought to myself a person can always have it worse in life and you have to make the best of single day. Okay enough rambling on from me. Hope everyone get time to pop in, the weather is beautiful so I might go lay out or do some yard work. Have a wonderful Saturday people!!!! Smile :) Julie

Where Is Everyone????

Well I had a great day today aside pms and all, went swimming at the neighbors, went to my mom's and she gave them their birthday presents and made a cake for them. I did not have a piece! WOOHOO!!!! Now I can eat a little more of yummy supper tonight....steak fajitias and homemade guac. and all the other fixings. I am straving right now because I missed lunch. Well better go get in the kitchen. Hope everyone is having fun. Rain is going to be here any minute again. Bye for now Julie

melekalikimaka 06-05-2004 08:34 PM

Happy Saturday. I just got home and found that Ronald Reagan passed away. Do any of you remember where you were or what you were doing when Hinckley made the assassination attempt? It seems so long ago. OK, I don't want to know if you were still in diapers . I was ten years old (or in the 4th grade anyway) and we were in class. Some teacher was showing us how to make boiled eggs into the shape of an apple, then we died them red and put a toothpick into them for the stem with a little green paper leaf sticking out of the top. And that's my memory of the day Reagan (and Brady) got shot. Weird how we remember stuff like that, huh? Anyway, I've been out all morning doing school shopping for my son--what a pain in the butt! I've got most of everything except for those composition books, the school wants unlined books and all I can find are the wide rule ones. I hate that--the store has just about everything BUT what you're looking for at the moment.

Angie, I found a little Hawaiian (read: brown colored) Hello Kitty wearing a muumuu and wearing a haku lei on her head. It's a bobble head and kind of heavy but it wasn't as large as I thought and it could probably work as a cake topper. I'll send it to ya first thing Monday morning--look out for it by the end of the week ;)

 Hey Julie, :bravo: on resisting the cake (this as I take the last bite of a Pilsbury cinnamon roll  ). I had steak fajitas last night, :hun:. I just love those, you can load them up with as many veggies as you want. I wish we had a swimming pool in the backyard, it's soooooo hot. The skies are clouding up again so we may just get some rain tonight.

Summer, do you plan to see the Prisoner of Azkaban movie? I enjoyed it but I think I read the book too close to watching the movie, it took out much of the suprise and well, you know how sometimes the movie director changes the story here and there...I must admit though, the movie characters are really what you imagine them to be as described in the books. 2 thumbs up if you ask me.

Kempy have your 2 girls jumped in the pool yet? ;) I could just see them eyeing it up then sneaking over to jump in the ditch instead . hope your weekend's turning out great.

Cal, only a few more days left huh? Does your school allow for little end of year parties in the classroom? I loved that last day of school half-day and all the radio stations would play Alice Cooper's "School's Out", there I go again, showing my age  Enjoy yourself.

Well girls, I think I'll go and finish the Goblet of Fire this afternoon. See ya later.

calnative 06-06-2004 12:08 AM

Only 4 school days and counting!!!!! :cb: :dancer: 2 full days and 2 half days. I took everything off the walls last Thursday. The kids came in yesterday and asked what was different about the room. At least they noticed. I think it's the first time they actually looked at the walls all year.

I will teach one week of summer school from June 14-17. During that time I'm taking a 6-hour workshop for Special Education. I don't know much about it so this will be very beneficial and informational.

Noelle: Our school does allow for parties. They's be crazy to think that the kids will be in learning mode for the last few days. :dizzy: The kids haven't been in learning mode since the end of April. I agree, I liked the song "School's Out" by Alice Cooper. Here in Phoenix that song is played a lot this time of year. Alice Cooper lives here and owns a restaurant in Scottsdale. He's very active in charities. Strange though he is; he is a really a nice guy. (That song came out the year before I started high school).

Angie: I remember when Reagan was shot. I was attending college in Idaho. I remember thinking that given the history of most presidents elected in years ending in 0 that it was only a matter of time. I was actually surprised that he wasn't killed then.

Summer: I liked your quote. I think I'll use that one in my classroom next year. It will give the kids something to think about. Graduation is not until the end of June?? Most of our high school graduated last week. My sister's high school (where she teaches) graduates next Wed. In fact, she's one of the chaperones for Grad Night (an all night field trip to Disneyland. The park closes early and then opens for the seniors from several high schools. They are open from about 10pm to 7am) My sister said that the chaperones are only required to be at a certain place for only 1 hour all night. I asked her if she got a hotel room. She said that there is a place for the chaperones to crash right at Disneyland. I attended Grad Night when I graduated. It was the same year that Space Mountain opened; the lines were crazy.

Getting late for me.

Have a great rest of the week, everyone.

Kempy: Come out!!!

Cal

Kempyd 06-06-2004 11:44 AM

I thought I would take a break from cleaning and say hi.

Angie I wish I could be there for the party. I think just like everybody else that you can rent those machines. I am a frozen drink gal. Anytime we have a get together I am running the blender. As the day goes on they get stronger too.

Noelle when would you get the house? My parents are older too. My mom was 36 when she had me. Of course if you ask her she is still 36. It is amazing, she hasnt aged in 30 years. I think we need to call Ripley's. :D

Summer I like Harry too but I have never read the books. I am scared that I will never put them down and right now I need to be reading school books.

Julie I wish I could have gone swimming yesterday. I don't know anyone with a pool. It seemed like when I was younger all of my friends had one and now I couldn't tell you where to go.

Cal I used to love the last few days of school. At least when I was younger. Once I got into HS I thought it was a waste of my time. Our kids have been out for a month down here.

We are having some of our pine trees removed this week. I got them to cut down 2 on one side of our house Friday b/c the guy was clearing the lot next door for a new house. Thank goodness we did it b/c they were rotting. He said that it wouldn't have been uch longer for them and these things would have caused some damage if they feel. We have 3 more in the back yard so those will be going when they clear the other lot on the other side of me. I will have 2 houses going up on both sides of the house. Talk about lots of noise and mess. The constuction people around here are so messy. I hate having to look at everything. I am not going to complain though b/c it brings up our property value. I hate to see the pines go b/c I have things hanging on them but once you cut pines you really need to get rid of all of them. They use each other for protection adn if you have 1 or 2 left it is going to be trouble. Plus, they attract lighting and that isn't something that I want.

OK, I need to run to the store. I will try to get back on today.

jbbm 06-06-2004 07:42 PM

Hi girls

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Kempy I know I hate construction mess, the porta potties, litter, spitting guys, etc. you get the picture. But you are right, good for property value. What in the world are your mom secrets if she hasn't aged in 30 years. I bet she is pretty like you :). Does she excercise alot or eat right or is it some kind of cream or something in a bottle? With 30 approaching for me I want to stay looking young as long as possible. Yeah, after I laid out all weekend !

Cal we are all counting down the days with you! Did you hear about that school somewhere out east that cut out junk food etc. on birthdays for gradeschoolers? No more cupcakes, cookies, or special treats. Just stupid school logo stuff they get. I don't think that is right. I think bringing in cupcakes on a b-day makes a child feel special. Whats your take on this?

Noelle I actually don't remember, I was probally in first or second grade? What year was it? I love pillsbury grand cinnamon rolls. I could eat the whole tube and I love they way the smell up the house while they are cooking. I ate like a oink oink for supper tonight. I am thinking about taking a walk. I really don't want to go though. Maybe just excercise inside even though it is nice outside right now.

Angie hope you weekend went well! And everyone else too. I should get off my butt and do something now. Julie

angieME 06-07-2004 09:06 AM

HI! I am so sorry that I didnt get on this weekend. Saturday we went out to eat with my MOM and then whenb we got there Clyde(My Mom's Best friend) said she was buying everything to cover all of our birthdays. That was so nice. It was fun too because we havent gotten together with Clyde since we were little and we practically lived at her house. Then me and Wendy(my sis) went shopping after lunch for about 3 hours and she bought Jay a new blender for his birthday gift so I came home and made some Margaritas for us. YUM!

Then Sunday we went to Clydes house to sort thropugh all of our pics and all of Mom's pics(my dad sneaked them out of the house for us) for the DVD that we arew making. That was so much fun to do. We laughed alot. We picked on My Moms hirdos throughout the years. haha and the fact that there are only about 2 pics of me as a baby.

Noelle, You guys should definately get a pool. Are they really expensive to get over there? I dont thionk I could take it if I actually lived somewhere that was warm all year without the pool. I dont actually get in ours too often but I like to sit on the deck and look at the water.

Cal, Graduation at Disneyland sounds like so much fun. My class went white water rafting. I stayed home from that trip. That was not my idea of fun. My kids are getting excited about school ending too.

Kempy, I love pine trees. We planted a row of them at our old house and they were huge the last time we rode by there. I want to go to the gravel pit and dig up some more and bring them here and plant them in the field but I just havent done it . Too lazy I guess. Plus we have seen Coyotes up there and they scare me.

Julie, You guys had weather warm enough to swim? I am jealous. It hasnt gotten really warm here just yet. They say that we have a warm front moving through for Tuesday and Wednesday and it will be 88 and humid. Maybe I can get in our pool this week. :crossed:

Now Corey has pink eye!!!! Jeepers creepers. This is the last week for me and Jay to have alone time during the day and now another one will be home.  Poor kid, his eye is all swollen and yucky. I hate it too because it makes my eye feel itchy immediately after they told me he had pink eye so I am not supposed to touch my eye so I dont get it but now my eye is itchy(in my mind). Like when someone says head lice you automatically scratch your head.

Oh yeah, I dont need the machine for the party because I learned at the restaurant that noone but me and Jay likes the margaritas so I will just make them for us 2 BUT.... My Mom,sis and Clyde are demanding that I make Jello shots and LOTS of them. So this party should be funny because I have a feeling my poor dad is gonna have to carry Mom and Clyde out of my house.

I will check back later.

Kempyd 06-07-2004 10:46 AM

Angie it sounds like you had a fun weekend. Now you really make me want to be up there for your party. I hope you take lots of pics so we can see the family. We havn't seen pics of the kids since you guys went to FL. (Cory pouting hehe) I LOVE jello shots. I havn't made them in years though. I need to remember those for next time. The problem is I eat them all. I like pines too but the problem is that these are WAY to tall b/c they grew up with lots of other trees around so they had to compete. Well, now that lots have been cleared the trees are almost in a shock b/c they are by themselves now and they start to die. I would much rather have a shade tree too. I have to call the local nursery to see what would be good to plant here.

What is everyone up to today?

jbbm 06-07-2004 04:27 PM

Hey girls

Angie I have never had jello shots. I could use some of them today to cure this sore throat. I think that would soothe it ! Isn't it funny when you get TOM I seem to get a cold or something else? Oh well I will survive! Just feel totally drained and blah. It sounds like you had a fun weekend. I am glad. Poor Corey. I hope he feels better soon. What are ya making for dinner?

Well girls just wanted to pop in say hi to everyone. It is in the 80's here and humid. I think summer is here. Yes! I have no idea what to have for supper. Kinda burnt out in that dept. Maybe grill something because it is so hot. Or just salads. Not really hungry. Bye for now....Julie

Kempyd 06-07-2004 04:32 PM

Hey Julie, I was just about to post a echoing hello. I didn't think anyone was coming here today. It is pouring outside right now. We are even getting some hail. Thankfully it is only pea size but it is still hail. We were just talking on another thread about getting sick during TOM. One lady is a nurse and she said that it is proven that your immune system slows down then.

When I don't now what to cook I usually have some wheat tortialls with some form of meat in them. I have some of that Old el Paso shredded chickne at home and it already has the seasoning in it so I will ut a little on a tortilla w/ a little cheese and pop it in the micro to heat and that is dinner. Quick and easy. I have even used stips of chicken and a little spag. sauce w/ parm cheese. That is really good too. I am all about the quickness.

jbbm 06-07-2004 08:41 PM

A quick again, made chicken quesiadlas (sp?) for supper. Kempy got me hungry for mexican. Ate way to much. I do know partly why is because the tortillas are high in fiber and right now I need it. Having alot of probs in that dept. sorry tmi. Nothing seems to be helping? Anyone have the same problem? I can't take the powdered stuff because it get me so nauseated i could puke, tried the fiber-con. My mom is a nurse and said don't take too much correctal or something like that because your body gets use to it in a short period of time. Sorry guys :o :^:I feel stupid even talking about this issue but maybe one of you have suggestions? Water, water, water, and water.

Kempy I believe that about what the nurse said. Even my allergies get worse during this time. I went to my mom's this weekend and she showed me pictures of my brother graduating from college and I was so proud. I think you are going to be so happy to have a degree in something, did you go to any other college or tech? I went to tech classes but never finished a degree, which now I regret. My hus has a BA.

Busy today Angie and Noelle? Mondays are ****, huh? I hope your doing good. Hi to everyone else. Does anyone remember if Jacks wedding was this year or the next summer. Speaking of weddings, what do you all think of Jlo and Marc Anthony marrying? I know they dated several years back, so maybe just maybe this might be the right guy. I do like several of his songs-I need to know and You sang to me. Okay I am rambling now better get going. Julie :)

melekalikimaka 06-07-2004 09:34 PM

J-lo and Marc Anthony? They deserve each other. I give it 6 mos. tops. Terrible aren't I? I actually like some of Marc's songs but I don't care too much for J-Lo all the way around. Has she ever heard of just dating someone? Ya don't have to marry every chump that comes around ya know... anyway, I'll stop right there since I don't want to offend anyone, hehe.

And a great big hello to everyone . Yes Julie, Monday's are always ****. We have a new employee starting and that's always interesting and stresssful. I hope this guy works out! I think Jacks wedding was 2005, I wonder what happened to her...I'm gonna PM her.

I'm having car problems again. I took it in for regular maintenance and when I got it back there was this weird grinding/growling noise. I thought it was the brakes but when I brought it back the mechanic said it was a bearing problem. Of course they don't have it in stock and need to back order it....so we wait again. In the meantime, I drive around feeling scared that something's gonna break while I'm going top speed on the freeway  :yikes:.

Cal, I didn't know Alice Cooper lived in Scotsdale, that's cool. You know, he seemed really creepy and strange way back when, but when you compare him with what's out there today, he's actually quite tame :)

Angie you sound like you had a blast this weekend. Just reading about pink eye makes my eyes itch . Just wash your hands A LOT! I'm putting the Hello Kitty stuff in the mail today, hope it makes it there in one piece. Let me know when you get it.

Hello to everyone else, I gotta run to the Post office before they close on me. Have a good night all.

angieME 06-08-2004 08:57 AM

Good Morning. It is supposed to be warm and humid today. These are the kind of days that I can get really depresed about getting so fat so quickly. Plus, my period started yesterday? ! That was a surprise because it feels like I just had one.

Oh JLo and Marc Anthony. I am with Noelle on this one. What is it with her and HAVING to get married? You would think with her track record marriage would be the last thing she thinks about. haha

Noelle, Just let me know how much the kittie was plus the shipping and I will send out a check to ya. Thanks. Haley will love it.(especially when she learns that it actually came from Hawaii). I hope you get your car fixed and dont have anything else go wrong. Cars are such a pain in the ***. I would have to say the worst thing to have to do for me is to go car shopping. I can not stand to do that. I hate the salesman.

Cal, I love Alice Cooper. He is kinda like a goth grandpa now. They play schools out for summer up here at the end of the school year too.

Brittany is going to Quebec for her class trip on Friday. She is getting pretty excited. Corey and Alicia get to go Rollerskating for their D.A.R.E. graduation trip.

Kempy, What do you guys have planned for your birthday this year? Another crawfish boil? That sounded like so much fun.

Julie, Is it hot at your house again?

Well, I should really go enjoy some sun before I have to go to work so I will check back in a while.
