  • Hi There!
E.Z.- My niece scored 16 out of 18 points the girls team only beat the cheerleaders 28-18 so not bad. The boys chickened out and did not cheer. Oh well. We had a good time anyway. I am still bowling crappy just can't seem to get it back again, don't know why. Its fun anyway. Sorry to hear your not feeling well, hope your soon on the mend, you'll have to be to keep up with rylee.
Angel- Glad to hear things are going better for your son and grand daughters. They are lucky haveing a special lady like you in their life. Hope things work our with sueing the co. that sold it, and with getting things in order.
Hi wilma- have faith you'll do well.
Mitchy- good luck on your tests. I am taking two civil service tests tom. for promotion lists. I can't study because were not told whats on them. so hope that goes well. I have my youth group ministry at the nursing home this weekend, and they are practicing because they are doing sonrise service this year, lots of singing, bible reading and praising. I enjoyed seeing the passion again, and think it made a dent or at leat a dimple in their armor. I will pray about and see what happens. Have an awesome weekend.
  • Good Morning,

I was a "member" of this group several months back, and fell off the turnip truck HARD. Sunny remembers me, and I just spent the last couple days reading all five pages of this thread so I could get to know everyone else.

A brief info..... my name is Connie, and I am a foodaholic and a yoyo dieter. I am 50 years old, work at a prison, and my husband and I are in the process of adopting our granddaughter, Genesy, who will be 3 next month. I'm still trying to figure out if I'll still be her grandmother, or become her mother. Legally, I'll be her mother. To her, I am her "Mama, Mommy, and Friend." Her mother, whom we also adopted at the age of 10, is in the picture, at her convenience, which actually makes it more difficult for me but we do what we can for Genesy.

Consequently, over the last few months I have GAINED 15 pounds. I feel and look like a blimp. I honestly know that for me the best way to lose weight is to count calories. I use Fitday (I bought the downloadable program), and as long as I post everyday, I can stay on track.

Anyway..... just a brief introduction and I look forward to getting to know everyone. Sunny, thank you for remembering me. I also remember Gary. If any of you were here when I was here last, I apologize for hiding you in the deep recesses of my mind and with time, if you behave, I'll let you out.
  • Connie~Welcome back! So happy you've come back. It's never too late and you are never behind. We all just start where we can. I'm happy you are back. Thank God Genesy has you, it must be difficult to deal with.

I'm at work this a.m. so I must be quick. It's rainy and dreary but I LOVE it! It is starting to feel like spring. Yesterday it was in the 60's and sunny, i didn't have to wear a jacket! I love the rain and look forward to a long rainy weekend. Have a lot of studying to do and I MUST get some laundry done.

Charlie called me at home yesterday and was real casual and said, well i'll be home if you want to come by. Um no........ I just don't like him not letting me know earlier. If he wants to see me, he should arrange something earlier. We're not at that stage yet where it's casual and just, oh, come by whenever...So i didn't call him back. And i'm not going to. I have things i need to do and i'm not waiting around for him. (Tough crowd, huh? )

Today is my dear sweet Mother's 60th Birthday!!! Can you believe it (well, i can't)! She doesn't look her age. She was totally spoiled at work, they decorated her office and she had 2 cakes, one from a guy who's my age and adores her, i thought that was cute that he'd make that effort. And also, mom has been at this job for 33 years and they are closing her plant in the next month. Her last day is next Friday and she already has another job with a competitor, but these are difficult emotional times for her. All the people in the office yesterday presented her with a beautiful Bulova watch with a diamond at the 12. They thanked her for being so sweet, being there for them. I thought that was awesome.
  • Saturday
    HI LADIES

RYLEE and I just got home from Amanda's tennis match, she won in a hard fought match and her team won, so all in all a great day! It has been a long week between wins for my kiddo and she really needed this one for her confidence! My son has his high jumpers, triple and long jumpers in a big meet today--he will be home late, and Angie just called from 200 miles away to say my step-d won both her soccer games (she isn't feeling well and missed the first one but came back to play fairly well in the second one- she is missing her high school softball game today though) I left Ron at church this am, his class is having a rummage sale for spending money for their Wash. DC trip-- left a whole bunch of things to sale but could only help from 6am to 8am due to the tennis match. I had to take RYLEE down there for the team as it is probably the only Saturday match left--GUESS what? they adore her......braggin'--braggin'--braggin'! She sure is behaving well ( ) Actually in PUBLIC she puts on a show Kids, girls and boys, were even stopping in their cars on campus (it is a small campus) to get out and pet her while we went on a "potty" walk. She does get spooked at loud noises though or ones she hasn't heard--I have started calling her a GOLDEN RETREATER -- OK, I saw the joke in the ONE BIG HAPPY cartoon this week--but sooooo fitting for her

CONNIE WELCOME back-- feel free to come and join us anytime--on a regular basis the better! Sometimes we all leave for a bit. I haven't been as regular as I used too because of our new 10 week old puppy, a golden retriever, as you must have guessed. I think it is wonderful that you are in the position to take in your grandaughter, I know it isn't easy, I just became OFFICIAL legal guardian of my 13 year old nephew this week--it is hard work but I do feel blessed to be able to help him. Keep coming back when you can!

MICHELE Hey girl give 'ol Charlie a break--sometimes us guys are not too SHARP!! Happy birthday to your mom too, sorry about her work thing, can't be easy to change at her age, I know from being 50 that it would be difficult for me to make a major move in the work force. 'Spose you don't want to hear that it was in the low 70's in Point Loma today for my DD match

SUE Great job by your neice! Boys can talk a bunch but when it comes time to "embarrass" themselves forget it! unless the BIG Man ON CAMPUS is, then the others will follow! My brother in law (the one with heart (?) problems) had another 300 this week--he is a very good bowler, he has had--pretty sure 20 300 games in his life-- the lanes I think are blocked where he bowls though-- but still very good. I am feeling much better thanks.

WILMA Great job on the snacking! You can get the 5/5 easy girl! with your great attitude

ANGEL Wonderfull news on your son! He is lucky to have your support! There have been drugs in my family and I know what a burden it can be-- cost me tons of money years ago "BELIEVING LIES" of JUST THIS ONCE! But I am way passed the enabler stage now! My prayers are with you and your family.

SUNNYD--SAMI and SPROUT I hope you all have a great week-end with your families..

    WORSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN HIS LOVE, Gary
  • Hello Old Friends and New
    Happy Lord's Day to All!!!

Hello my friends. It's me Sherry, or some remember me as mrs24kgold. I used to post here last fall but kinda got overwhelmed with health problems, schedule, life, etc and just finally quit posting. Sorry, I just left you guys. I have missed you so very much and I think about you frequently. I have been lurking in the sidelines but not posting, guess I was a little embarassed. Sorry!

I have lost some weight but have gained most of it back. So, tomorrow is a new beginning. With advise from a MD I am going to start South Beach tomorrow and see how I can do on that one. I pray with all my heart that it will be just the answer for me.

I haven't gone back and read all your posts but I will try to catch up or you can post a little to help me. I continue to work part time as a home health nurse and raising my kiddos, although the oldest now almost 17 is driving and on the high school softball team and working some. The youngest is now on a softball team too. And as if I didn't have enough to do, I kinda got drafted this week to be the head coach. It will be hard on me but it will get me moving more and I will love it, that is until the temps get to be 100+. I played for many many years and coached for quite a few, but this league is 8 and under coach pitch, which I have never done or seen until now. Wish me luck.

It's so good to be posting!!!! Just know that I can't post a lot but will post when I can. I look forward to hearing from each one of you.
  • Sunshinelady!! Glad you are a part of our group. I don't remember you...must have been before my time, but, looking forward to getting to know you. Like your name!

Found this today....Hopefully most all watched the movie.....

  • Hello I have to be real quick I am way behind on all the post. Today is a start of a new life! The Dr. I saw friday was wonderful! I will tell you more later. He has started me on a slow easy workout every morning! A food change ect..... Please Pray for me today as I take on this life style change!
I will post when I get home from work to let you know how things went!
Praying you have an OP day!
  • Good Morning!
It's snowing here. Can you believe it? It's also spring break here so it all makes sense. We always get snow on spring break.

I'm in really great spirits this a.m. I weighed in at Curves and have lost 3 lbs and 6 inches in March. Finally, the weight is coming off. I plan to start working on my dinners today along with continuing with the contol of snacks. Thanks so much for all your encouragement. Without it I wouldn't be where I am today.

Sami: I am so glad to hear you so positive. I just know this new lifestyle will work for you.

I just looked at the time and i have to leave for work. Talk again tonight.
  • Oh Sherry~I'm so happy to see you back! SO, SO Happy! I've often wondered where you were, what you were doing. Sounds like you are doing well. Post when you can, don't worry about the rest...

OK, OK, maybe I was a little hard on Charlie...... But he asked me to dinner at his house last night and i went and it was wonderful. He made these great sauteed vegetables w/asparagus, red and orange pepper (we both don't like green peppers), mushrooms w/brandy and butter, and he grilled stuffed cod and tuna steaks and i made rice, because he wasn't sure how to make rice. We had a really nice time.

Then I got a speeding ticket on the way home... Haven't had one in a long time, and it's so expensive here. Will be atleast $130.

    More later...
  • Have to be quick--feeling much better and off to work today. Very beautiful here all week-end and today, in the high 70's and up, expect rain later this week though. Had a birthday get together for my son yesterday--about 25 family members-real nice--bratwurst, beans, rolls, potato salad--tried to assemble a basketball hoop set-up for Ron--followed directions (I DID I DID!!) but somehow got one pole twisted wrong and after awhile figured it would be best to start over tonight BEFORE I BLEW IT!!! Was getting VERY frustrated. RYLEE was the hit of the party--until she started digging!! Then she wasn't a hit with Angie. SHERRY so happy to have you back!! SAMI so happy for the new outlook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MICHELE great news on with Charlie. WILMA super on the weight loss. HI ANGEL and DONNA......gotta go.
  • Monday

    Sami~ I am anxious to know what your MD told you Friday. Please don't keep us hanging too long. I am praying for you that this will be the answer. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Well, can't stay long, gotta get busy. :

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!!!
  • Part 1 of 2

    Good Afternoon gang

I just got in from going for my 45min. walk (don't know how far I went, just went for time). What beautiful weather we are having here! Yesterday went close to 70* and today is in the 60's right now. It is absolutely wonderful to see and feel sunshine!! Everyone was out in their yards working in their gardens and the breeze was breezing and the birds are making their nests and mating... so neat to feel Spring!

Joe & I had such a nice weekend... Saturday we went out to breakfast together very early (7:30am) and then we went to Heinen's to pick up some groceries; then when we got home we spent the day watching DVD's together and just chilling out... it was so nice! It was rainy, so it was a great way to spend the day. Then on Sunday after church we went out with some friends for brunch and the sun was high in the sky - so beautiful! 68* - 70* was the high temp I think. When we got home we both changed and went directly outdoors to work in the yard clearing out winter messes... the yard looks so nice now. But we have allot of work to do this year in it --- we are going to have a new driveway put in soon & then I want to get rid of all the plastic edging (in the front gardens first) and add the stone, but won't do that till they get in the driveway. All kinds of plans and Spring is finally here so we can begin.

Wow! I have allot of catching up to do here!!!!

    *~*~*

    SAMI,
I am so very sorry for Kevin's family... I wish that we could instill in our youth the knowledge we have gained through the years so that accidents like this would not happen... so very sad. I told my Joe about it and we both lifted everyone up in our special prayers on Sunday.

I am so glad to hear that you have found a Dr. that is finally going to HELP you!!!! Finally!! I am so very happy for you, Sami!! Cannot wait for you to come back and fill us all in.

    SUE,
Isn't it great working out in the yard again... feeling the sunshine & listening to the birds I always thought that the Fall was my favorite time of the year, but at the moment ~ Spring is!!! Good luck on your testing results!!!!

    GARY,
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better!!! I am so sorry to hear you all have been ill.

Belated "Happy Birthday" wishes for your DS!! WoW he's 23! You old fart you Sounds like you all had a blast!!! And Rylee will always be a hit - she's adorable!

Thanks for the pat-on-the-back! It's nice to hear from my one time coach I am so happy you are proud of me... Joe is too. He came home with the nicest card for me when I got below 200lbs and has been so very supportive of me ~ always encouraging me and giving me back & leg rubs from achy muscles... I am so spoiled! It was so nice to see your post!!!

Sounds like you have your hands full with Rylee!!! Eating your wife's roses, huh --- not so good! But no matter what they do you always forgive them and love on them I think that my boys are done getting into trouble and then they surprise me. Always something! Right now they are going through Spring fever!!!! You should see the three of them chasing one another early in the mornings and in the early evenings!!! You move out of their way cuz they WILL run right into you! They are so into what they are doing they don't care what is going on around them! Nice to see though... the two boys will keep my Domino young - that's for sure.

*Prayers* for your BIL... have they found out anything?

    MICHELE,
Belated wishes --- "Happy 60th Birthday!" to your DM!! Hope she had a wonderful day! That was awesome that she got such a nice gift from her co-workers! Have you heard anything from the tests you had to study for? Hope it all turned out well.

Wow $130.00 for a ticket - so high!!! I'm sorry! I thought that $85.00 was high when I got a speeding ticket two years ago...

Sounds like you had a wonderful time with Charlie Loved what you had for dinner!! Sounds like a great cook... hummm something to think about... ...

    To be continued...

Thanks for all your posts! Very encouraging! Love the "R" Rating of the Passion List
Nice to see you back again!!! So happy to hear that your son is still drug-free... I will keep him in my *Prayers* for strength and stability! He has to be really struggling... I wish him and his family only the very best! My God's angel's surround him in protection.

Glad to hear that you finally got a settlement from Maytag. I bet you are glad that's done with! It's just a shame it wasn't the amount you hoped for.

    WILMA,
Sorry to hear that you are getting snow again... I don't envy you at all! I am feeling so refreshed with the sunshine we have had the last few days! I sure do hope you have some soon!!!

"Congrats" to you!!!!!!!!! One size smaller in your clothes - absolutely wonderful!!!! So happy to hear that you had such good result with your Curves weigh & measure day!!! WoW ~ 3lbs gone and 6" gone --- WooHoo!!!!! What a wonderful feeling, huh. So very happy for you!!

    Hi CONNIE!!!!!

I wish you well on your endeavors of adopting Genesy... sounds like you both have a beautiful relationship! Such a shame when children are born of mother's (or father's) that don't care, but oh such a blessing she has you! So good to see you back!!!!

  • Thought I should check in
It has been a rough 2 weeks but am getting better. I ended up with the flu and cold that was going on and needed to see the doc about it. Because of this last week when I was to be having my cancer checkup - it was cancelled because my chest was to congested. It has been changed to this Wednesday - March 31 - so tomorrow we are off to the big city, then to the hospital on Wednesday. After the test is done we are going to come directly home that night. Then on April 1 in the morning we are traveling to Kelowna BC to visit my mother (she just turned 86) as we haven't seen her for some time now due to my illness and all the traveling required. So this is going to be a busy week in traveling but will be nice - at least it will be nice once the cancer test is over with. I don't really like the thought of having to be put to sleep for this but that is the way it goes - it will be like this the rest of my life - and for the next 4 years it will mean a lot of this - then when 5 years is up it will only be once per year - so just have to hang tight I guess.

Went to Curves this morning - first time in 2 weeks - felt so good but I also can feel that I haven't done it for awhile. Also got weighed and measured - I am not even going to go there but rather am 'starting over'. These last two weeks have not been good in that respect.

On April 5 I will be having an ultra sound of gall bladder and liver - last week was having symptoms of gall bladder trouble - like I need any more health problems. Then on April 29 I see the eye specialist to see about having the eye surgery to remove the cataracts. Thought last year was rough with all the medical visits but it looks like this year could be another of the same!!

Well, need to run - we have a load to take out to the dump, 4 loads of laundry to wash and dry and to pack for going out of town. Kids are excited - I am looking forward to seeing my mother - and then getting home to get back into a better routine - of not being sick any more!!!!
  • Tuesday morning
    Good Morning CEers!!!

As you know I started SB yesterday and it was GREAT!!!! I ate just what I was suppose to eat, no cheating, no going off plan. I didn't have any problems following the plan. The only problem I had I learned I will have to eat mid morning snack, mid afternoon snack and HS (bedtime) snack. I woke up about 1:00 this morning with my BS dropping. But I see that as a good thing. I wasn't hungry at all!!! I even had softball practice with the kiddos last night for 1 1/2 hrs and kept on trucking. I did eat two small spoons of peanut butter right before practice so I wouldn't crash. I have learned to keep peanut butter in my vehicle for just those times.

    Sprout~
    So sorry to hear you have been sick. Prayers going out for you during your tests and traveling. Take care of yourself and don't over do it. Check in with us when you can. {{{HUGS}}}

Sunny~ Sorry to hear you don't remember me, but that's ok. Yeah, I've posted under several different usernames over the years. When I first found 3fc I posted under Tinkerdove then MrsHummer and mrs24kgold and now sunshinelady. I tried to sign back in this time with my previous name but I guess it had been too long, it didn't recognize me. Keep up the walking, that's the best!!!! Please tell me how you insert the gifs into your posts, even smiley central gifs. Pleezzzzzzzzz

Well, gotta run, have walking to do and planting to do. Oh, then I have to work for a little bit. It's spring like here for the past week or so and suppose to be close to 80 today. I just love spring!!!!

    Have a GREAT Tuesday!!!!
