Ahhh...home at last...
Susan - "OP" means "on program" -- it means Jana's been diligent and has been sticking to her eating plan
(ah...just saw that Marti answered that one for ya!) It's good that your girls live so close. My 17 year old has a girlfriend now, and all the busy stuff that teenagers have to do, Senior year and all. My 13 year old gets a bit resentful when his brother needs to leave early on the weekend and the visit gets cut short, so I'm trying to spend extra time with him whenever I can. Mike wants to spend Valentine's evening with his girlfriend, so I have to take them home early on Saturday...maybe I'll take Noah out to dinner or a movie or something since Tim won't even be home from work until almost midnight.
Jana - I just gotta get creative about how I present it to DH. He loves rice -- I could probably get away with 3 stir-fry dinners in a week before he would complain. Just do chicken or lean beef, tons of veggies, and change the seasonings a bit. Wonder if I could get him to try brown rice? If not, I'd just have to make two different kinds of rice -- not as bad as making two different meals
Lunches are an issue for me -- and totally my fault. I am not a morning person, and never seem to be able to get my act in gear and make something for lunch in the morning, always running out the door at the last possible minute hoping I haven't forgotten anything!
Definitely something I need to change.
Shanna - Good to see you again!
Yeah, I pop on every night and morning (one of the reasons I'm running late in the mornings, hmm?) but don't always have time to post...or even know where to begin! Yeah, Hubby the Technogeek was a bachelor until he was 29, then came out here to CA to be with me...and I was like, oh you poor underfed man! Nobody's been taking care of you! And you know, I am one heckuva cook.
So - my fault - I really spoiled him. I had just lost about 40 lbs when he moved out here, but you know....you get comfy...and slip back into those old bad habits... And so now, I'm trying to make some changes, but it's hard. And I know the midnight suppers are killer! He won't be working these hours much longer, and hopefully wherever his new job is it will be more normal hours and we can eat at a decent time. And I don't think it's intentional, but he does tempt me, like your boyfriend tempts you - here have a beer, let's get pizza, share this candy with me...
Get thee behind me, husband!
Angie - ok....I'm trying and trying, but I just can't picture your red-and-white-striped-yellow-daisy bathroom. It sounds like it would be so cute! Will you post a picture when you are done?
Cristi - Hang in there...moving sometimes feels like going through labor, doesn't it? All that exhausting work, and it feels like it will never be over. But it will! And very soon you will have a brand new bouncing baby...house?!?
Well, I THOUGHT I knew where that analogy was going...but you get the idea, right?
Marti - Actually, your comments ARE helpful. I just have to be creative and pick the right items off the FT lists to make something that looks like a normal meal
If I do it right, maybe he won't even notice! I make new stuff and try new recipes all the time anyway. But I think I will avoid serving him the cottage cheese/almond/blueberry combo for supper...
And you're right -- it would only be for 1-2 weeks...just to sort of kick start my metabolism...
Kayecee - come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack...we miss you!
Well everyone, laundry and dishes await me. Hope I didn't miss anybody. Thanks to everyone who sent Valentines - they've been so fun to open! I'm really glad I found this group. You guys are awesome
G'night ladies...sweet dreams....
