Good morning everyone! Sorry that I've been MIA. Sunday was incredibly busy with church and Superbowl. We had a meeting after church to call a new pastor, so we didn't get home until after 1:00! Then it was off to a Superbowl party. I spent yesterday recovering! LOL!

1 point for yesterday - not a good thing. I really miss my workout and need to get off my butt today and get it done.

Donna - you sound like me! Give me my favorite camping spot (in the middle of the Nat'l Forest, 20 acre lake and only three camping areas) and I'm happy!

Faye - Great job on the clothes! That is such a great feeling!

Dot - Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry I missed saying that earlier!

I was busy helping run a contest at a Superbowl party we attended, but after reading boards and news online, I don't really know which bothered me more - Janet Jackson or Kid Rock wearing a flag. I'll let the subject drop from there because its already spurred so much debate!

Have a good day everyone!

Morning ladies,
4 points for yesterday. Working on another 4 pts. for today. Water seems to be the biggest problem this week. I was doing so well, but I think I dehydrated during the tournament and now I'm having a hard time getting back to normal.

I didn't see the superbowl at all. I'll have to look it up and see what all the hubbub is about. I did catch the guy wearing the flag. My daughters just looked at me in horror and said "Mom, that is sooooo disrespectful!" So, all our youth are not lost.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm not lifting weights this morning because I have to fight tonight. But I will get on the treadmill just to keep the cardio going.

Talk to you all later,
Julie

Me

Boy I am pooped now. Her house is a pistol to clean and then there is Thomas who wants to play with me. His mom doesn't let him use the word fat, but he likes to come up and push my stomach. Doesn't bug me, but does his mom. Today he did that and his mom got after him and he said, "But mommy, Nonny has a big fat tummy..." She stopped him and told him he had to tell me he was sorry and then what was he sorry for etc. He wanted to explain so he started over again, "Mommy people that have stomachs like Nonny..." Of course, she and I lost it. He didn't want to get into trouble again, but he wanted to let us know he thinks is it fun. That boy is something else. I am just glad I am done for another 2 weeks. She would definitely not get the good housekeeping seal of approval for keeping her house clean. Probably just rebellion because I have always been a clean freak!

Well, I need to go. Have a great day ladies!

Faye, that is a really cute story about your grandson. I think it is important to let kids be curious about things, even when it makes us feel uncomfortable.

I'll stick in my 2 cents in the spirit of diversity regarding the super bowl. I don't think sex hurts people, I don't think it messes up kids (except of course in the case of abuse). I certainly don't think seeing a boob should hurt anybody. (and I have to say it was nice that J.J. didn't look siliconed like so many sex objects today). So I think the superbowl thing was AOK.

America has really wierd values about sex and violence. A number of friends of mine worked in videostores when we were younger, and tell me it was a normal occurance for a mom to bring some hellaciously violent R-rated movie (7 and 9 year old in tow) to the counter and ask if the movie had any sex in it. If the answer was no, the movie was rented, even though my friends often cautioned the mom that it was "pretty violent". "As long as there's no sex in it" they would say.

I don't get why something that almost all adults do, and that we hope kids are going to do when they grow up, is so forbidden, but something we all hope they don't do, something that is really antisocial (violence, killing, shooting), is fine for them to see.

As far as Kid Rock is concerned, I am just bummed out that he changed the lyrics of his song "I can smell a pig from a mile away" to "I'm proud to be living in the USA". For some reason it really lowers an artist's stock in my mind when they take their antisocial message and change it in order to please the mainstream. Not that I am a big fan or anything, I just think that kind of self-censorship is tacky.

I am going to my annual women's exam today, I am going to bring up a lot of issues, especially regarding food and weight loss. I am considering starting eating disorder coucilling for binge eating, or OA. I hope I get a good reference! I know that gaining back this weight has a strongly emotional component.

Wish me luck, thanks for all your support during my motivation slump!

Loves, Kim

Kim,
I second your idea about sex vs. violence. In Europe they have naked people parading all over the tv, but they can't BELIEVE we show people getting killed everyday in all kinds of horrible ways. Frankly, I think the best thing is just to not watch tv.......like THAT will ever happen : )

Kim... i agree wholeheartedly with u on the superbowl thing... Its a difficult enuf job to raise good and kind children. Add sex and violence... and well...lol I personaly have no problem with my children asking questions about sex... i will answer them as honestly as i can. My kids have walked in on DH and i... and i had to explain about privacy... ie no picking locks on bedroom doors...LMAO But its a natural thing, sex... and, a natural curiosity. That being said i was raised like it was TABOO... something that was secret and dirty... and i will not do that to my kids. The violence in this society is what is a bigger issue for me. I didnt have a problem with Kid rock wearing the flag either.... its a free country... if he chooses to show his patriotism by wearing it go for it... its not like he was burning it or walking on it... or anyother thing derogatory...
That being said... this is a great and free country... we all have a right to our own oppinions... our own beliefs ... But NOONE has the right to force anyone else to think a certain way. Thats what makes our country so wonderful... the diversity, the mingling of cultures and the openness to new things.
Ok... i have rambled enuf here... i shoveled again today so 4 points is mine!! LOL I love each and everyone of u... remember to take care of U

hi Friends!

Woo-hoo! I lost 2lb in my first week at Weight Watchers. Not bad considering it is my TOM. It feels good to know that I am losing, rather than gaining. Remember to add me to your totals on friday Faye!!

It sounds like Janet Jackson has caused quite a stir!. I don't know what happened, but to enter the debate, I do tend to agree that the world is going mad these days - I just cannot agree with 9 year old girls being encouraged to wear make up and dress in sexy revealing clothes so they can copy their favourite pop star. It must be so hard to be a parent these days - with all the pressure on kids to grow up too soon. On the other hand, that does not mean I believe in sexual repression or raising my kids to think sex is dirty - I just think there is a balance that needs to be found. I can't wait to have kids - but issues like this do worry me as being a parent is such a responsibility!

I got 3 points yesterday!

Well Done Amanda

You Know, i watched the entertainment on the Superbowl ( its all i'm interested in..not the game) and when Justin Timberlake ripped off that piece of her clothing i did'nt even spot a bare boob and i could'nt understand what all the fuss was about on the news and as for them saying it was'nt intentional i think thats codswallop why else would she be wearing a sun or some other ornament on her *ipple? i think they got worried after all the commotion that it caused..i mean where else would it be a matter for the FBI? In my opinion it was a tasteless thing to do in front of children but as far as being scandalous then i'd have to say "no".

I did'nt exercise yesterday but i got my rear in gear today and walked 3mls just a 1pt day for me today.

I am on a 0 point streak, but I'll be back on the stick again someday... I went to the Dr. re: my PCOS today, and I got a really harried busy doc who just wanted to put me back on The Pill. Ugh. Well, I'll try again soon. I am no victim of beurocracy! BTW, I cleaned my desk last night. I had tfo bribe myself to do it, 10 bucks in new house plants will be mine!
Oops, I just realised something. In my 16 week plan, this week I am supposed to be counting WW points and keeping to 20 with 5 to go over extra. Maybe a big new challenge is just what I need. I am commiting to coming here every night and posting through this Sunday. I Will Do It!!!! Oh, but week 11 is going to be spring break. I think I will plan right now to go off plan then. For sure.

OK!!!!

WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's Woes. What can we help you with?

WRAPUP POINTS FROM YESTERDAY:

Amanda
Sandy G

Amanda: That is terrific! I know you are excited!

I talked with Beth and she is having some personal issues and didn't want to come and unload. I assured her this was the best place to do that and encouraged her to come back and post with us so if we couldn't help we could at least commisserate!

My Wed woe. It was really from yesterday. Around noon I started hurting so bad I could hardly walk. My wrists, elbows, hips, pretty much anywhere bones came together I was hurting. I couldn't go and exercise and felt too crappy to cook so we had food from a restaurant. I didn't overeat because I felt so bad, but I just didn't want to eat high fat stuff and I did. It is over and done with and I am not sure how I am going to be today. I really think it was the cold snap we had again. That usually makes my joints ache. I am sore this morning, but not like last night so I am hoping I can get around better and go exercise this afternoon.

Well, want to go tell hubby goodbye as he is getting ready to leave for work.

Faye, sorry to hear that you are in great pain. Have you thought about taking 2 alieve everyday? I know that it does help me. Please tell Beth that we are here for her and you are right this is a great place to unload. After all it beats sitting down and polishing off a big container of ice cream!

I just might get lucky enough to get a home gym gave to me. I find out hopefully today if I am so lucky. Please everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. I would just love to have one. I was already planning on buying me some type of equipment when my refund arrives but if I can get this for free that is more that I can save for my vacation this summer! I also have had some good luck lately(it could be considered bad I guess it all depends on how you look at it). I got a good raise and a promotion at work(my first job). By no means am I going to quit my second job. It still pays more and has benefits!

Guess that I have rambled on long enough this morning time to head off for work. Chickies have a great day!

Just a quick check-in and I promise I will post more later. A two point day yesterday - for exercise and water. My eating, or should I say munching, left little to be desired. I haven't been getting in my smoothies either!

Faye - I hope you feel better.

I'll try to post more to everyone later!

Good Morning lovlies,

4 points for me yesterday! I'm back on a roll.......2 in a row

I need to take a break today. Be easy on my body...I normally do my martial arts once a week, and I've fought hard for 3 out of the last 4 days and I feel like I've been hit by a truck! But I DO have energy, which is nice. So, I'm not going to do any exercise at home today, but I have to teach tonight....so I will still get in some nice gentle exercise tonight.

I hope Beth comes back to let us know how we can help her. Everybody needs a "sounding board" now and then. Just talking out our problems can help us reach a solution.

WOO HOO for Amanda's 2 pounds

Don't really have any woes yet today......though it's still early

Everyone stay today!
Julie
