Peaches, did you solve your steamer problem? I'm stumped.
Painty, I haven't read The DaVinci Code yet.
Wabby, I haven't read any of the books on your list. It'll be a couple of years before I can get to them, unless I decide to buy them. I'm just now reading "The Corrections," which I really like. It's quite sick and disturbing.
Hi Kiwi, SugarP, Lush, and Bagzz!
I've been incommunicado while I take all kinds of tests. I tested out of science last week and I took the GRE this week. So now I have to write an essay about why I want to go to library school.
It was exam week for DS14 this week. I think he did okay.
I'm still fat. I've been studying. At least I'm maintaining in the 170s.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW----I GOT THE NEW ANN MARIE MacDonald book for christmas----i think "as the crow flies"---did anyone read her book "fall on your knees" that was deadly{or did we already discuss this??} i really feel like my mind is not working well----they say it is perimenopause---but it feels like alzheimers---------KIWI!!!---WHEN MY gay guy friend who paints my house {inside and out} was trying to reach behind the radiator to peel off some old wallpaper, his hands were too big so he yelled to me "Mari!!! bring your slenderinas over here and reach down and pull off that paper" ever since then i have called my dainty hands "slenderinas"--------HOW ever we could call ourselves that for when we get BUFF or Biffed ---------------hey,the new kitty's name is Boffo-------won't that be just Boffo when all the Slenderina Cows are Buff!!!{and i had my margies LAST night}-----gotta go ds9 is goalie for the hockey game today and he is beside himself with excitement~!!! so is dh!!! I have the video camera primed!!!!
I have a friend who knows everything. She took the pot home and now the lid is off. I don't know how she did it. DS took the message.
I am depressed. I would rather be loopy.
I will talk about my car. Herbie gave me this car .. 1997 La Sabre and I love it. There has never been light from the dome light though. You need a flash light. This morning I had to drive DS to the next town to go spellunking with scouts and on the way back, the light (plus two on the floor I've never seen) came on when I used the gas pedal. Off the gas, off the light. Push the gas, on the light. I cannot stand this.
I have one more complaint about yesterday. I have been active on a fiction writing workshop site. You must critique other peoples stories there and I was about to do one for a guy (I had it printed off) when it didn't take sense. It contradicted itself. I was at work and read that part to my friend who knows everything and she said it sounded really familiar, that story.
So I googled a line out of it and found a lot of it had been copied from the New Yorker. The original was online. I told a group of people there about this (which seems natural to me to discuss what goes on there) and told the SYSOP. The SYSOP got irritated because he didn't have time to handle it (delete it) before people started email him asking how he could put up with such things.
YOU TWO ARE SARDINES-----------------My baby was so cute in net-------------he made many WONDERFUL saves---------i feel like such a canadian----we don't have soccer moms,we have hockey {maniac} moms
Boffo! to Bagz' DS for being a great little hockey player!!
And Boffo! to Peaches' brilliant friend who solved the dilemma of the steamer. Did she poke stuff through the holes?
I love the slenderina story, Bagz. I thought for a minute there you were going to relate a plumber's butt story.
Painty, did you find that there were a lot of factual errors in The DaVinci Code? I just read something about it; haven't read the book yet.
Peaches, that car thing you have going on, could be a real problem. Even DH says so -- I described it to him and he said "yeah, I'd be concerned" He says you should search the internet and see if it's a common problem.
There was a fire in downtown Bangor the yesterday; the Masonic lodge was gutted. Putting out the fire resulted in this big ice cake below. They had to remove pieces of the remains because they were afraid it would collapsed under the weight of all that ice.
This was in the NYTimes with this caption: Ice and flames enveloped a historic building Friday in Bangor, Me. Later, part of the building, the site of a Masonic lodge, had to be torn down.
Peachy... congratulations on flipped lid. surely your wiseass friend will tell you what he/she did to make it come off. the rest of us need to know... It could happen to us. (Either the stuck part or the comeuppance!)
Cherry... Congrats on library school shortcuts... Where are you going to study? My library school alma mater no longer exists!
I didn't notice factual errors in DaVinci Code.... but then I'm very unsure what the facts were supposed to be, and what the fiction was supposed to be. A priest friend of mine thought the underlying premise (the early church "fathers" suppressed any mention of strong women and their value") is completely plausible. And certainly there are double and triple crosses that happen whenever there is enough power or enough money involved.
Baggz: congrats to goalie boy. When I first read your post, I thought he was in fishnet... had gotten confused with gay handiman and slenderinas. Glad that I got those sorted out.
I did read Fall On Your Knees and enjoyed it very much. Just started a new novel, about two families 100 years apart in Cornwall... with at least one painter... Can't for the life of me figure out a title or author that comes up on Amazon. will report in later.
Painty, I tried to figure out what you meant and realized I had misexplained. My friend REALLY does know everything. I 've never known her to be wrong. She is a trained chef who had her own private investigator business for years and she has a degree in creative writing. Imagine the things she can explain!!
She said it was time for the lid to come off. She hit it with the end of an ice pick and it popped off.
awwwwwwwwwww-kiwonkers---is that the building down on the waterfront and is there a nice park is across the street???that is sad=======i hate it when old buildings die===it is a really cool photo, but those poor firefighters working in that cold!!=we had some fires here during the extreme cold and the firemen's suits looked like that building !!!!==it is saturday night, and i am enjoying the peace and quiet!! people are at a hockey game and i am thinking of reading my Real Simple magazine==========what are you doing tonight????? right now i am typing with my amazing slenderinas.
I had something to say but forgot. I am alone here and my car is broken and I don't like it. Somebody make me young and adorable so I can go out and catch a good 'un.
Oh yeah. My cleaning advice: If you get a long haired cat, make sure he/she matches the carpet.
