Shad – Hope you have a productive week before your next session. Can’t have you sitting around feeling crummy afterward and also obsessing over what needs doing!
Susie – I’m happy to hear about no OT being worked and getting to be at your niece’s activities. They are a busy brood!! It’s so different than when we were that age. Yeh, I remember participating in many things over the years – brownies, glee club, Awana, softball, but it wasn’t in multiples and it just didn’t seem nearly as time-consuming. What do you think? == Good plan to focus on the garage, especially now that the temps are milder. Ours is still in pretty good shape, and we can still fit our car in there! That leaves us with continuing to work on the basement. This weekend, I’m thinking about clearing everything off the large bound room-size carpet that’s my workout area. The carpet needs a good vacuuming as well as a deep cleaning with the carpet cleaning machine. == I’m glad last week’s gain is temporary and you’re back on the losing track once again. You are really doing great!
Annie – Awesome NSV! I split my time between underwire and no-wire. No-wire bras will be another retirement thing in addition to letting my hair go to its natural color (sounds better than saying “letting it go gray”, yes?). == Yay for the bathroom victory - no movement is sooo uncomfortable. == I’m so happy to hear your ankle is not giving you any problems to speak of!!! == Re the spending, this month was not normal since there were still a couple weeks of taxi & bus fares. Next month will be more representative of the norm, well at least three weeks of it. == Yes, I was thinking that we would definitely be needing a new thread starting in April as the posts are getting up there in number.
Hellos to Happy and Ceejay! Keeping busy as ever, I’m sure.
Dee, hoping all is well with you. I was thinking of you yesterday because I checked out craigslist for used fitbits. I’ve been using my pedometer, but it’s a pretty bulky thing to clip onto my waistband or belt loops or put in my pocket. So I thought I’d go back to a fitbit, but something inexpensive. At this point, I’m not looking to upgrade to a heart rate monitor or anything fancy.
==
No workout last night, letting the muscles rest and recover. Tonight I’ll get back to it.
Bf had his lower braces removed and a permanent retainer inserted behind the lower front teeth. He will still have to wear the upper braces for a bit. He's not thrilled about that, but however long it takes is however long it takes...
My foot’s been so-so the past few days. Switched up my shoes to see if that makes a difference.
Tomorrow is my orthopedic appointment. I imagine it will be some more x-rays and not much else. I’m not sure what else the doctor can/will do for me (except to keep reminding me to take my Vitamin D). Hopefully the bone will be healed, but I’m wondering if this minor pain is a sign that’s it’s still not completely healed.
That’s about it for me. Everyone have a great day!

Hey all,
If you want a new thread for April - give me (name) suggestions and I'll try and get it done this weekend. Otherwise I will give it some horrible name because it seems like when I intend to do things well, they go horribly south for me (Doing it Clean in 2017 has turned into a muddy muck of a mess )
Ants ... when I lived in Chicago our neighbor's driveway was literally right next to my house because of the wierd way the lot was set out. My kitchen back door faced his driveway and every spring my eyes were trained for movement on the floors. Blasted ants would show up every spring in droves. If I did not catch the initial scouts I'd be flooded with them. Also a problem as the cat's food dish was in the kitchen. We tried all sorts of things including ant traps and even putting a scary harsh chemical along the outside brick of the house. My neighbor had problems too and it turned out that there were HUGE ant colonies under their driveway. The exterminator said the only way to truly get rid of them was to break out the entire driveway and that was not going to happen. I would wind up just having to heavy duty treat the area each spring until we moved. We'd put ant traps at the places we thought they were most entering the house. Even tried spreading salt along the baseboards - not sure that worked. They are a huge problem once they appear. And that's all I have to say about that.
I hate underwire bras. They always painfully stick in my ribs after a while. Even when I was thinner they bothered me. Guess I just have to deal with old lady floppy breasts. I noticed 3FC censors the b word that rhymes with foobs when Anne commented the other day But you can use cuss words when texting on your smart phone so all is not lost.
I haven't received a call back from my doctor for a follow up but I was able to log in and see the radiology reports for my x-rays. Prognosis is - advanced arthritis in all body parts. The good thing is that with my knee, they said there is very little change between this x-ray and the one taken last August so that means it's not advancing / deteriorating quickly. Still waiting to hear back from the doctor - I would not get a follow up appt before I left for Chicago so if they don't call to set something up by next week, I will call when I get back in town.
I might skip yoga today - I feel like getting busy and that would be an interruption and hard to come back and get back into the swing of things. DH may go to the home improvement store an hour's drive away so 3 hours by myself and I could get A LOT done. I still have to do some reading to have ideas for the bingo ideas discussion meeting tomorrow.
Went out for Mexican food yesterday. I had indigestion afterwards. Not sure but maybe it was the spicier salsa I am trying to adjust my tastebuds to eat. Many foods seem to be bothering me lately.
Laura - it's a good time to be thinking about spring cleaning and probably a good time to tackle that rug. What is your interest in the Fitbit? As something to track your activity or something to remind you to get up and move? Does the mobile MyFitnessPal have a Fitbit like app? Of course you'd have to manually track your activity. As for your foot hurting, with the damp weather of spring, things might be a bit more tender feeling for a while until the warmer and sunnier weather and temps improve. I am hoping that I am not one giant ball of pain once I hit Chicago - notorious for upping the scale on the pain index. I loved the idea of a quick pick up at the salad bar for dinner. Yes, it could be pricy but it sure saved alot of tedious chopping time and you didn't have to buy $80 worth of produce to make a $10 salad. Salad bar and rotisserie chicken were often a quick and easy meal on late days at the office. Marianos has fantastic chicken salad too. We always get some when I'm in town.
Anne - yay on the new pretty bras!!! That was quite a drop in chest size. Did you get a new swimsuit for vacation or will it be too cool to swim? Glad you are feeling better. Give your new plan about 6 months at least to see the most positive results in your bloodwork. I found out that the cholesterol takes a long time to show progress but once it gets there, it stays pretty consistent. If you like the idea of the Yeti cooler at the commune, you'll love it on the boat but NO FISH in my cooler!!! Food and drinks only Keep up the good work and be healthy for your trip
Shad - glad the package arrived intact and ODDU approved it as ok. Perhaps he liked the smell of American cats Hope you have a very productive few days before the next round of chemo kicks in. Is the weather getting more tolerable heat wise?
Susie - it's great to hear that your current busy involves people you love to be around instead of long hours at the office with someone who will chastise instead of appreciate your extra efforts. I think one of the downsides of losing weight is giving up some favorite pieces of clothing but hopefully you can alter the ones that you really like. And sometimes it winds up being tailored jackets or really good work pants - stuff that is complicated to alter. So instead - concentrate on fun shoes!!!! I see on the commercials that flower printed flats are trendy for the spring. They look so fun even if you can only wear them with a few outfits. Luckily we are not tempted as there are no Payless or DSW shoe stores around for hundreds of miles. We're a Keds/Sketchers kinda town - even for the work crews.
Ceejay - I hope you have the ant problem under control. Your redbud sure is pretty - I'm glad the frost didn't ruin it. How do you like the book club so far? There are websites on line with discussion questions and tips for the books since many book clubs tend to pick the same books to read. I used them a few times when I was behind in my meeting. Then I found that the book ladies were more interested in talking about their kids then the books we were supposed to be reading. Are you ready for your big musical debut?
Time to get off the computer and get myself busy. Have a good humper day everyone.
HAPPY...the drop in chest size actually started a while back which I could tolerate. This last bit of weight made for floppy issues. Plus too big around. May as well not been wearing a bazooka at all. My cholesterol has always been great even before the heart attack. Weird but dad's was the same way before his quadruple bypass. I am more curious about my AC1 and iron.
HAPPY, HEALTHY-still coughing up phlegm, GRATEFUL, BLESSED!
Two days til vacay. Migration of contacts is 85% done. Got a couple of scragglers. Will have to prod them with a cow prod or beat them with MELLIE's rolling pin. I told them all is due to me by noon today (Thursday), or else. Or else what, I do not know as one is in Iowa and the other is in Wisconsin (maybe I could send HAPPY over to prod him).
Pedicures all complete and ready for the beach. C watched the boys while Sam and I went for our pedi's. We were only gone about 50 minutes total. The Nail Spa is 5 minutes down the road and I tell you those lil Asian ladies are quick. We had our pedi's at the same time next to each other. Don't know what good that did cause I put the chair back and closed my eyes. Tried to meditate but my mind was all over the place. So just tried to relax and enjoy the moment. My toenails are a bright pink! Of course my favorite color and beachy. Will post a picture of my pedi and my monkey toes. Should give you a smile today!
Dinner was baby cheeseburgers on slider buns. No bunz for me. Also a salad that I built on the Kroger salad bar. It was enough for 3 of us salads, Sam a second helping and me lunch today. 6.99. Couldn't buy the items to make that at home for that price nor buy 5 separate salads. Mixed greens, spinach, egg, bacon, cheese, cauliflower, broccoli, red bell pepper, mushroom and black olive. Delish. We all used my KETO ranch dressing that I made. What an easy, yummy dinner. I will admit I am missing a banana and pineapple now and again. Nothing I can't get past. This WOE is so worth it, not only to lose weight but for all my aches and pains to be brought down a notch or two. Guess I am just in the right mind set. That is 80% of the battle. I keep thinking do I really want to eat off program or gain a healthier me.
My cardiologist appt is Friday afternoon. Time for my 6 month check up. No labs or anything, just a check up/in. Since I left the hospital in October 2015 after heart attack at 207 lbs, I have lost quite a bit. Today I weighed in at 178.something. Almost 30 lbs and 45 since I started working at WF in September 2014. I am more than pleased with that and I have the rest of my life to get to 160-165. Not that far off but it is getting harder to lose the closer I get to goal. I know step up my steps and exercising<---haha we all know Annie does not do any of that E word. bah!
HAPPY....Ants. We had issues with them when we first moved into the house but I have won the battle, I think. We will see this spring how my efforts against the ant war holds up. May have to do some more preventative measures. Geez HAPPY, advanced arthritis in all body parts, yikes. Can't replace everything. You will just have to be kind to your body and MAYBE try completely this KETO WOE to see if it helps with pain. Just sayin'. Um the YETI cooler at the commune. No worries on the fish being kept in there. C has a cooler for the fish caught, the bait, the "other stuff", he has all the fishing gear stuff you can think of. I have decided on a green house for the commune. lol. It would be so much easier to work in the dirt, especially if your DH and C could put the planting beds on risers. You know for our "all body part" arthritic bodies.
LAURA...me thinks when I retire I am going braless but will have to be careful not to trip over the girls and break something. lol. Sorry, I am just too vain to let my hair go gray, well actually my hair is white not gray. Tell BF baby steps with the braces. Patience. Listen to me, no patience here. Let us know how your ortho appt goes.
Make it a great day/night. Special hugs to SHADDIE and chemo treatment. Hope all goes well and no really bad side effects.
Morning all. Rainy day out there. Good weather for the duck couple that I saw out in the backyard on Sunday.
Happy – Hmmm, have to think about the thread title… Not 2017, part 2? Boooring. == Sorry to hear about the arthritis in all the body parts – which ones did they x-ray again – hands, knees, ____? == Did you get a lot done while dh was out? == My interest in the fitbit is just for a step counter. Of course there are cell phone apps that could count steps, but I don’t walk around with my cell phone everywhere. Oh, and I think the fitbit app syncs with MFP to carry over the steps. Lately I’ve been waking up at 4:30-ish and I don’t feel like I ever get back to a sound sleep after that, so the sleep activity function will be a good thing to use again. == Why does Chicago increase your pain? Is it that much more damp here than up by you? == You mentioned Payless Shoes, but I think I just heard something about them filing bankruptcy and closing stores. Not sure if it’s some or all though.
Annie – I’m sure the doctor will be happy with your weight loss, and I bet when you have labs done down the road they’ll show improvement too. == Yay for the pedicures. Nothing like spiffy toes!! I’ve been wanting one, but with the fracture I just didn’t want to chance it. Now I’ll probably just wait until a few days before I leave for vacation. Might just give myself a pedi in the meantime… == Oh yes, I’d miss bananas and pineapple on the Keto plan. Especially bananas, though they aren’t nearly as enjoyable now without my Coal to share them with. Guess I just have to have that good memory. And when I’d pack up my baby carrots for lunch, he’d get one or two I’d cut up for him and it was so funny hearing him crunch away at them. == Your dinner sounded good! == Love the idea of a greenhouse at the commune!! == Re the gray/white hair – yeh, I have a feeling I’ll be too vain to give up the coloring post-retirement. But I might be brave enough to try doing it on my own, or even do a different color!
Hellos to the rest of you!!
==
After work yesterday I went to pick up a fitbit Flex (same as I had before I lost it) from someone selling it for $30 on Craigslist. I’ve got it charged up, but I have to see how I get it to register on my fitibit account. Didn't feel like doing that last night - enough techy angst already (read on). Came with three wristbands, all different colors. Probably won’t wear it on my wrist much, but we’ll see.
I did an express pilates workout last night (25 min.). Not a favorite. The dvd also has a full mat pilates workout (60 min.). I’ll have to see if I like that one better. Otherwise it’ll go in the donation bag.
Bf bought a switcher thingy for the tv to switch between cable, blueray player, and our Amazon firestick (something to do with not enough HDMI ports on our TV), but had problems with the setup. Of course those installations never go smoothly so he was in a ranting mood. I was glad when I got back from picking up the fitbit that he’d figured it out and he was a sane person once more.
Okay, leaving work early to get to the dr appointment. Better get going now, I have to prep for a meeting. One last thing though - thinking I’ll do a spray tan for vacation. Never had one before. Anyone have one and have any tips for me??

Good morning ladies,
Random thoughts from a madwoman edition...
Greenhouse - never fear ladies. I already have a portable plastic greenhouse - used it one year when we bought plants early. Also DH designed my garden as a hoop system which means we can also tarp over the beds to prolong the growing season - it's just a bit of a hassle with the giant plastic tarp. I just need some gardeners in here because the getting down and low part is pretty impossible for me right now. Oh and he also designed the raised beds so you can put a plank between them for a makeshift bench while you are working. Isn't DH clever? Gee the more I talk about it, the more awesome this commune is sounding It's turkey humping season which means the males stand around all day in full strut (like you imagine a picture of a turkey with feathers all fanned out). The ladies just totally ignore them and keep eating. Very funny to watch.
Things hurt more in Chicago - a very proven fact from doctors no less because of not only the dampness but also something to do with the barometric pressure there. It really amps up the pain index - not the best place to be if you have chronic pain ailments. DH's orthopedic surgeon told him that 30 years ago and it's true.
Most of the ladies up here have let their hair go natural - gray. Some still get it styled but don't color it. It does age you a bit. Gray hair is more coarse and tends to do it's own thing so harder to style so many go for a short(er) bob of sorts. I decided to keep coloring because my hair is thinning on top and the gray just tends to make it look like I have bald spots. I have hair there but it's super baby fine and the white hair makes the scalp more obvious so it looks (to me) terrible. So I stay blond instead - I am blonde on top and darker on the bottom. 2 toned. Everyone likes it so I keep it. I am the opposite of everyone with super dark roots and light ends. Because I NEVER follow the crowd - unless we are running from a fire.
OH - you know how much I btchd - I mean LOUDLY COMPLAINED about someone sneaking in to the silent auction and "stealing" my items???? Well yesterday I was home cleaning and I got a phone call - I had not one but 4 items to pick up. Yikes. I was actually feeling happy I had not spent so much money. Somehow they had messed up the paperwork when I went to check and yes, I did have a few things - although someone else did sneak in after me - thank goodness So what I got was... 2 humongous bottles of vodka (whipped cream and raspberry flavored), a Cinderalla cartoon insulated cup to drink it from - it's just "juice" officer A one night stay at the casino lodge, $20 in free play money and $20 in food credits; a camping package - 2 night stay in a local campground renowned to be a really great place, a coupon for 2 fish frys at their restaurant there, 2 super long camp forks (will be good for the fire pit at the commune too), a S'mores package of marshmallows, chocolate bar and graham crackers, a cooking thing on a long stick that you put in the fire to make grilled cheese sandwiches and such - DH said that won't hold up very long, 2 packages of bratwurst - about 40 links altogether which I may give to the senior center as that is far more brats than I would eat in 10 years and it's taking up far too much precious freezer space in my house. There was also a nice fold up camping blanket with a vinyl bottom so it doesn't get wet on the ground, a first aid kit for when you burn your tongue on flaming marshmallows or too hot grilled cheeses There was another basket which was a welcome basket for another town - had hair products from the local salon, some local honey, cranberry chutney, trail mix, several books on deer hunting - everyone around here is a historian and writes books about the local history. There is a cookbook of recipes from the local townspeople which is neat. There is also assorted gift certificates for massages, dollars off at restaurants and local shops. Did I need all of this? Did DH complain I wasted money? Thank goodness Some of this I will use and some will be used as random prizes at bingo to try and entice more people into the bingo hall. It went for a good cause and all 3 packages I bought I paid far less than their actual value.
I got a call from the doctor's office yesterday. They want me to follow up with a rheumatologist up in Duluth. Next available appointment - *drum roll* JULY 5. Seriously???? Maybe we do need health care reform after all. I am not worried because I don't believe I have rheumatoid arthritis. I did see a picture of me in the local paper with me at the senior fashion show. I had what I thought was a nice outfit on and I am so big around the middle I almost cried when I saw it. REALLY REALLY need to focus on losing weight. I know, I know, I know - KETO would be the way to go - and the fact that it would be so hard kind of tells me just exactly how much I love carbs even though I'm not sitting there scarfing down candy and brownies each and every day. I WILL commit to making small changes immediately and working my way up to big changed. You ladies are very inspiring with your weight losses so far.
Anne- bravo on the weight loss since your heart attack. And bravo that you are taking your health so seriously. I hope you can get to your goal weight and if that takes another year to get there, just keep on the steady with your path right now that is working well for you. I'm glad you are ready for vacation, yes, I will be driving through the entire state of Wisconsin so let me know where those contact holdouts are hiding and I will give them a whirl with Mellie's rolling pin or the cattle prod - whatever you think will be more effective! Salad sounded delicious - but how do you do sliders without a bun? C can be the official fish monger for the commune. Him and my BIL - DH will drive the "fishtoon".
Laura - they did xrays of hands, left knee (not the operated one) and left ankle of me to determine how wide spread the arthritis is. As we suspected, it's all over. I must have pushed this body of mine awfully hard Genetics work against me too. Glad you were able to score on the Fitbit Flex - hope you can get it sync'd into your existing account. Do you find that it motivates you to get more steps in to get to a next goal when you are using it? Awww - that's sort of sad - your memory of Coal eating bananas and carrots. I didn't realize dogs liked bananas. Once we get the deck landscaped you can be the person who maintains and trims the plants - sounds like you are talented at doing it now. AND you can bend down too See - I need all of you guys here in a bad way. I had to smile at your comment about BF and the switch and all the plug in things. Yikes, why is it that they like all those things - just makes me crazy I don't use the basement TV because it takes 3 controllers to run it and I can't figure out what goes with what. DH bought a blue-ray player 2 years ago - I have yet to watch a movie on it because that's a whole 'nother complex process. Tips on a spray tan - don't go to the same place Trump does Watch out for those tanning glasses - don't need the overly white raccoon eyes either. I think if you do a light coat and don't try to walk out of there looking like you've spent 3 months in the sun you should do ok - just a bit of color to take away the pasty winter whites, like using a bronzer. I hear people are a bit shy at first if they get the whole body one and have to stand in the nude but like the doctors, I'm sure those people have seen everything. When is your vacation?
Hello to the rest of the chicks
The day is flying by - what's new? I still have to go through the refrigerators - DH likes to put the trash out tonight so he doesn't have to get up at 6am tomorrow which he will have to do shortly once the bears wake up. I also have a meeting today before bingo to discuss some ideas in increasing bingo attendance and I have to do some reading on that. I have 2 hours to get alot done. Always behind I am...
Sorry I've been missing in action the past couple of day. I'm completely out of energy. My lab results were as usual low b12, low iron and low vitamin d. Gotta take the supplements this time around. My lumbar x-ray shows arthritis along with the degenerative disk. Every time I have an e-ray it shows arthritis in different parts of the body. Guess I'm with Happy on this. I've been miserable this week.
-----
Annie
I know you are excited. Will you soak up some of that warm sun shine for me. Good for you in losing that much weight. I know the doctor will be happy with that.
Laura
I really miss my fitbit. My cousin has one that has a heart rate monitor on it and it showed that he had an afib attack with 140 beats. I'm like you I like to record my steps but the cheap one that I bought keeps clearing itself. So I'm going back to the fitbit.
Happy
Yeah that you got the bid after all. I understand about the pictures. My sis made some of me at the arboretum. and I was sitting on low wall. I looked like humpty dumpty. No matter how hard I try to lose weight my mind keeps going off the track. I know this is a mind over matter ordeal but my word, I feel as though I have A.D.D. concerning this matter.
Very wet drive in today. Raining a steady fine rain. That with the overspray I had to run my wipers on regular swipe instead of intermittent. Be glad to leave this weather behind. Leaving tomorrow night around 3 am so we can be in Athens, Alabama at a decent time to visit with Sam's HS friend, Amy for about an hour. Check in at condo is not til 3 pm so we should arrive perfectly. God willing.
My ortho prescribed Gapentin for the nerve that runs down my leg across the top of the foot into the big toe in hopes to "wake" that nerve up. Toe was tingly from the ankle surgery. I must say it is so much better than it was however the side effect from the script is it makes you sleep/tired. Which is why you take it before you go to bed. Well I stopped taking it about a week ago. I was just tired and couldn't get up very easily in the morning. I feel so much better and am more awake now. Another side effect from the script is that it makes you not be able to think of your words when trying to have a conversation. Hopefully that will get better. Could just be CRS-can't remember sh*t.
Last night was BL-no Ts. Mine a lettuce wrap. Also sauteed portabello mushrooms, onion, green pepper, radishes and garlic in butter. Then when almost done put fresh parmesan cheese on top to melt. That was better than the BLs. Both C and S loved it and ate second helpings. Cleaned up the kitchen, folded towels and off to bed by 9. No TV, straight to sleep. Woke up at 2am, checked the time and went back to sleep. Woke up at 4:45, laid there til 5:15.
CEEG...You might want to try KETO WOE. I am telling you once you quit carbs, you quit craving them. I ate popcorn EVERY night before KETO and now I don't even crave it. I am going on 8 weeks no popcorn. Yes mind over matter on dieting is true. I only get it once every 7 or 8 YEARS. Thank the good Lord this is my year. Low iron about did me in. PLEASE take your supplements. As all of those items can have an effect on your heart, liver and other functions of the body. I take iron supplements twice a day. Of course I also have to take a stool softener now and then. Low B12 can really zap you and all of these zaps besides making you have no energy and tired, plays on your depression. This is just from my experience and IMO. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Sorry to hear about Arther visiting your body parts, KETO helps with that too!
HAPPY....love, love, love the "green house" at the commune. DH is such an asset when it comes to his wonderful ideas and builds. Hmmm, may have to borrow him at my house for a week or so. Can you spare him? Or hey here is a great idea...you come with. Go ahead and bring kitties, why the heck not since it is a chaotic animal, people fest at our house anyway. lol. You know all the ideas and wonderful, awesome improvements you have made at the commune, we may just really have to do it. By the time I get there, I won't care that it is not in a warm climate, I will just be gardening, crocheting and cooking. Hope you like bacon. NO EXERCISING, bahaha. Ah, my sliders without a bun will still slide in a lettuce wrap. hehe. Especially with mayo on them. Just like a snow covered road, sliding along. Great score on the "extra" bid items. Glad they came to their senses and rewarded you your rightfully bidded items.
LAURA...Well, what did the doc say about your foot. Ready to run a marathon? Remind me, how did you fracture it again? Exercising? If so, proof exercising is not good for you. Sassy loves bananas too. Becomes a real nutbag when someong is eating one. HELLA BELLA liked them too. I miss her on occasion especially when Bruno does his two tricks. Bella knew about 6 or 7 tricks. Time heals I suppose. Good score on the Fitbit. I don't use the heart rate on mine EVER. Not sure why I thought that was a good idea. Probably should of gotten the least expensive FB. Oh well, as long as it works. Mostly I just use it for the time. Guess I could wear a watch. On any given day I do about 5000 steps. Most days are just that. Need to get it up to 10K but don't.
SUSIE...how did WI go? Loss? Total? ROCK ON sister.
Special Hugs to SHADDIE....one more awful treatment down, one to go! YEAH!
Hello to DEE and anyone else lurking.
Hugs all, will try to post at least once or twice from my phone while on vacation.

Quick stick my head in - gotta go to the hairdresser to get my hair colored so I don't frighten Momma and Sis next week. Will probably be the last time I see S before she has her baby too.
Will come back for personals but just wanted to say to Anne - SAFE TRAVELS Warm Lovely Sunny Weather and the very best happy, wonderful, fantastic relaxing vacation EVER!!! Be safe, have fun - don't think about nuttin' but ahhhhhh.
Morning all. Yet another dreary, rainy day here. I know we need the rain, but I sure would like some sun. Guess I have to supply my own:
Happy – DH put a lot of thought into your garden! You’ve got an awesome commune going on up there! == Very interesting re the barometric pressure and it’s impact on the body. Kind of like the fact that it’s not just the humidity but also the dew point that makes us feel comfortable or miserable, lol. == Hope your hair turns out great so there’s no scaring your family. -- Wow, you’ve got all kinds of loot from the silent auction. Is there a camping trip in your future? == Yikes that’s a long wait for the appointment in Duluth. Good thing you’re not particularly concerned about rheumatoid arthritis. == Yeh, seeing oneself in photos is almost never a happy thing, for me certainly. Bf’s never been into taking photos or being in them, but I wonder if it will change once he’s out of the braces and no longer self-conscious of his smile. Putting aside the vanity part and focusing on the weight loss aspect, we all know if will do us a world of good to lose the excess weight and take stress off our poor joints, but I do think getting that inflammation reduced with the no/low sugar aspect of the Keto plan or other eating plans could be a great thing for you. And remember, you come first!! Get going on those small changes! == I did get the fitbit synced with my new account. It keeps me aware of my movement. When I was trying to stay off my feet with this fracture, I also checked it to see if I perhaps overdid it. == Yup, my dog liked bananas, and Annie commented hers did too. I guess they have a sweet tooth too! == LOLOL, loved the tip about the spray tan!! Wonder if the Prez uses the booth or has someone spraying him. He probably has no modesty and thinks he looks marvelous. I’m not looking to go very dark, just something to take the edge off the white. Leaving for vacay 3 weeks from tomorrow!
Annie – Nice color on the pedi! Your BL with all the extras sounds delicious, except I don’t know about the radish… I’m not sure I’ve ever even eaten one! == Once the weather’s nice again, you should get back outside for those lunchtime walks, especially now that your ankle is good to go! That would get you to 10k steps in not time. But watch out, that’s how I got my stress fracture – just walking down the street, hahaha. Of course, I’d been favoring the bottom of my foot for months due to the Plantar Fasciitis. I’m convinced that contributed, but the doc says it just happens. == Have a safe, uneventful drive and enjoy your vacation!!!
Ceejay – Sorry your arthritis has been bothering you this week. I hope the supplements increase your energy level! == My pedometer only kept 7 days of data, so another reason I returned to the fitbit. == I get you about the mind going off track re smart eating choices. When I do focus, I can decide that I can skip that post-dinner snack, or that I really won’t die if I don’t get chips to eat with my sandwich, LOL.
Shad – One more down, just one more to go!!! I hope all went smoothly this time around. Hang in there through all this post-session stuff.
Hellos to Susie and Dee!

I got more x-rays yesterday and the doc says all is on track, pain is not unexpected/unusual. Still have to not do anything too strenuous on the foot, and advised common sense stuff to take it easy when the foot says to. I go back in 3 months. Glad bf was there to hear the doc first hand because he’ll know not to bug me about the foot not being 100% at this point. These things take time.
I removed my old fitbit (lost last June) and got the “new” one set up on my phone/in my fitbit app, so all is good with that. I consider myself large-boned, so I automatically assume I need a large wristband for my flex, but it turns out the small size is perfect using the last two holes of the strap to clasp it. Nice, because I have three more wristbands to choose from now on top of my plain old black one.
I have a hair appointment tomorrow morning and that’s about it for this weekend. Dang that came up quick! Gonna tackle the exercise area carpet this weekend. I think I’ll move some of the stuff off of it tonight so it’s not so much for tomorrow because there will still be the vacuuming and carpet shampooing to take care of. On the other hand, it’s so darn rainy and damp, I’m thinking it might not be such a great time to shampoo that carpet. I don’t need any excuses to skip exercise.
Morning all,
Getting on with my day early while the others are sleeping still - including the dog.
After all the rain we had with Cyclone Debbie devastating much of the Eastern Seaboard of Australia, there's been a bit of cleaning up to do around the place. We lost power for a day but some of those poor people up around Mackay and Proserpine still don't have power much less homes to live in and are flooded in by stormwater and sea surge. As a matter of fact, a lot of people not far from me, only about 10K are flooded in still as well, but at least they now have power back on. Makes life more comfortable when there are still the summer flies and plenty of mossies around.
Annie, by now you will be well on your way to the beach. Have a wonderful time and forget about work and home and dogs and everything and just enjoy yourself. Let the others take a turn at cooking and cleaning for a week. You deserve this rest.
Laura - Get down there and fix that carpet. I have to talk myself out of procrastination all the time, you can do this too. We both need the exercise. Glad to hear that the foot is coming along the expected lines of pain and getting better. Good idea to take the b/f along with you since they never believe you are not well. My kids went into total shock to hear that I had all this coming along. They are with it now and totally supportive, but it took a while.
Ceejay - glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Texas? Shame on the tiredness but spring is coming your way and summer will be here before you know it so you will be more on the go then. Sad about arthritis creeping in but it seems to happen to most of us as we age. Guess we were lucky it didn't arrive to devastate our early lives.
Happy - Sounds like the commune will be up and running for the northern lot soon. Sorry but the winters will be too cold for me now - especially with the lack of hair. I'm a wuss. I like sunshine and warmth. I am a hothouse species.
Glad to hear that you got at least some of your prizes from the silent auction and well you should. Cheating is not good.
Susie - Get back in here and post - your head needs clearing from all the work and stress you are under. I'm sure your weight gain the other week was because of the stress of work and home and not enough time with the little kids. They might stress you out but at least it is the right way.
Okay - chemo done and only one more round to go. I actually feel pretty good at the moment. Usually the first two days after treatment I wander around like a zombie and forget things and generally am weird but this time hasn't been too bad and I actually have found the energy to do a few things. I planted up one of the vege garden beds before chemo and with the rain we've had it is all sitting up and looking around. I'll go out and check them out shortly. Tomorrow if the chemo does the normal trick, the pain will set in and be around for 3 days. Don't talk to me then, it even rattles the teeth around I am sure and I spend a lot of time on self talk to try to ease the depression and tears that go with the pain. However it may not happen and I may be anticipating the worst when I will actually get nothing.
We're back to fine and sunny here although the days are really shortening now and it is cooler than it has been. Thank goodness or a bit of cool. The house looks like a bomb hit it since I haven't been up to doing much housework but it will get sorted this week. My two boarders are not much on the housework side and the ODDU sheds hair worse than the cats do. So much time is spent on the vacuum cleaner around here. I have finished deep cleaning the kitchen and now I am up to the dining room. Then it will be a case of the lounge room where I think I might shift some of the furniture around so I can hang a couple of paintings and a beautiful tapestry I bought some years ago. However there really isn't much wall space in there since there are two big windows plus the front door foyer along one wall and another is taken up by some big bookcases which I may be able to put one down in one of the bedrooms. But anyway that's all in the future to be thought of when I get to that area.
With that, I might go make a cuppa tea and make up a list of chores to be done today and try to work my way through it. Things to mark off the toilet roll of to-dos And I must do the exercises agreed on by the training study people and me. Dang it.
