Sugar is at such a disadvantage if she has to fight in her second language. I am sure that someone here would be willing to tutor her.
I lost my credit card. I can't imagine what I did with it.

I'm so tired from the weekend, not that I did anything. I barely left the house. I did exercise, though.

I can't think of a thing to write. I have to go find or cancel my card...bye

Found card.

I see that Bush is campaigning in Sissy's state. Why bother? They'll rig the election for him anyway. I blame Peaches.
It is the real reason she changed her name.

I'm on the computer to see if an bounced check is in my future. As you see, the details of my life are falling apart. I've been writing checks like mad with no deposits. Why?

I think I'll make dinner.

I am outraged. My keyboard broke causing me to stay off the computer for almost 24 hours and I come back to find this???!!!??? No one has taken seriously my suggestion to adopt a theme. Don't care for the religous tone? How about Disney characters? I will be Jumbo, the sweet and delightful mother of little Dumbo.

We're apparently not as bovine as we think we are... because we won't be herded into a theme... Sorry, Cowp. Please don't take it personally. My kids are so old I don't remember any Disney characters I'd want to name myself after. Do you think there'd be better response if we picked ancient Goddesses? Hestia? Brunhilde?

Default Hmm...how about Lazarus?

I don't mind Jonah, but I was thinking I could use a whole new life, so maybe I could be Lazarus, raised from the dead. I don't seem to know many goddesses. I actually know more biblical characters than goddesses. I must have had a wasted youth. I know lots of Disney characters, but I don't think I want to be any of them, except maybe Minnie (mini )

How come when I go away for 5 minutes (or 3 days) dear Peaches always gets so creative? One time I came back and we had all done amazing fantastical things.

Your cousin's son sounds abominable, Lush. Your son is merely a bit reckless, not vile like that one. I wish Lion King had been better, maybe you should have gone to Urinetown instead.

Speaking of which. Never mind.

We got back earlier this evening from taking DD to music camp. We had to come home and change our clothes and go out to the wake for DD's friend's brother. They had 2 2-hour open casket visiting times today at the funeral home, and they packed the place both times. The line of people coming in the door and waiting to speak to the parents and file by the casket continued without interruption for two hours, twice. I've never seen anything like it in this town. The funeral tomorrow will be in the largest church in town, even though they are not members of that one, because they are expecting hundreds. The state park authority closed part of the park (where the mountain is that he died on) to hikers last week for 2 days because they determined that the heat and air quality (ozone) was too dangerous. Too bad they didn't do that before it happened.

DD's music camp is going to keep her hopping -- and hiking. Colgate is built on a hill and she has to go from top to bottom several times a day, probably carrying a guitar. Oy. She ought to have a great time, though. It sounds like a really good program.

Well, I'm tired. Bye cowies

Wow, I found a slide show with actual pictures of my town, including
The church we were married in! Aren't you impressed? I came across this local web-paper while I was looking for an article about the boy that died. His obit is on there, but not the articles about what happened to him. But what I did find was a great article about a local film festival that warmed my heart, although I wasn't able to attend.

Beautiful church, Kiwi. I guess in your town you don't have to deal with those annoying "Do Not Dig" signs indicating unground cable. Ha. Ha. Just a little joke, albeit a rude one.

I can't sleep. Why isn't anyone else up?

Love that article. I may have driven through Maine with Bagzie once. Can I be on the committee? I'm famous in certain areas of Dogpatch.

Yeah, I don't think we do underground cables much around here -- tough to dig through all that frozen tundra

Throw all that stuff out!

You can be on the committee. We need more voices of reason. More than we need Barbra Streisand or something.

Funeral today went on for over 2 hours! They had live jazz playing before the service -- the band teacher who left his job at the end of the year came back and led a jazz ensemble and played in it. The boy who died was very active in the music program. They had a sizable (high school) chorus that sang at the closing of the service and in between, several pieces sung or played by friends of the boy. DD's friend (his sister) sang a duet and managed to get almost all the way through before she had to stop. The place, as predicted, was packed. Amazing tribute to a very accomplished kid.

Tiring, though, I'll admit.

Haven't heard word one, email or telephone, from my dotter. Not that she's ever very good about that.

By the way, Suzanne 3fc explaned about the outage this morning. Under, um, I don't know, Announcements or Help or something? Well, maybe here, I didn't look here.

Me tired.

I'm so ashamed. I didn't even realize it was Canada Day. I guess it's because, like the rest of the US, I'm so self centered I forget there are other countries in the world. Like Florida and Joisey.

What a sad day, Kiwi. No wonder you're exhausted.

Oy. They want to seize all the forest land to make a playground for people from other states. Because, hey, those National Parks are soooooo well run, right? Meanwhile, everyone here makes their living from the forests that they want. And I'm not talking about quaint little wreath-weavers, which is what the Burt's Bees lady thinks. We're talking lumbering and paper making. We are simply unwilling to be turned into a town of ice cream scoopers and windshield washers.

The name of the Park Project is "Restore: The Maine Woods", which of course implies that Mainers have squandered their woodlands, which is ridiculous. My favorite bumper sticker is this one: "Restore: Boston -- Leave our Maine way of life alone" I think it's very appropriate -- let Mass. and NY and so on clean up their own backyard before they start looking greedily into ours.

End Rant
Thank you for your patience.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Painty, you didn't stop the threads. They just became long enough to off and live on their own. No rules were broken. Give yourself a cookie. Some of us don't like long threads so we give 'em up.

T.S. Bill was here yesterday. We had tornado watches (or warnings?) water sitting on the ground, new improved potholes and in the worst of it, ds was off taking a driving lesson. Some brave teacher!

In just four days, ds leaves again. I am tired of being alone!!!! GRRRRRR. I know that when he goes to these programs, they have one phone for a whole dorm, limited time to use it and unless he spends his whole free time waiting in line, he won't call. So he doesn't call and I'm glad he has found something better to do. He will call once or twice in three weeks.

Kiwi, your park argument was very convincing. It sounded rather like me when I lived in Los Angeles and discussed with a friend in norther California why WE should have cheaper gas tax. (We HAD to drive. There was no choice.) Isn't there any movie star at all (say, Sean Connery?) who you would want on the committee?

Default Further rant and cleaning list

Kiwi, here in the center strip of NJ the land has been environmentally protected by about six different agencies...national forests, wetlands, state reserves...what ever it takes to keep the Christy Whitman types from having to rub elbows with the less republican (and blonde) city types. What that means is that it has, in effect, been confiscated from the farmers who've owned it for generations and made worthless. We're in the "Pinelands National Reserve." There can be no building...right where I am it takes 10 acres for a local to build a new house and 40 acres for an outsider. The only legitimate use of the land is farming....which is a dead industry in NJ. What that means is that developers can buy this land for 10cents on the dollar and then with their political clout, change the environmental laws to allow development. In the end they make billions(literally) and the original owners are out of luck. Down the street from me they are building these monstrous houses....I'd say about 5000 square feet. They've changed the zoning to allow them on about two acres, so they loom out of the ground, one after another. Three+ stories high with only about 15 feet of grass surrounding the house... Hideous.
END RANT

Paint, we usually do stop at 5 or six pages because it becomes unweildy. AND when someone comes up with a cow pun, like "aherd of our time"....would you really want them to keep that to themselves? We used to do a new page everyday, but we're too lazy for that.

I don't want a lame disney name. I was just ripped off by "The Lion King" on Broadway..I have a resentment.
I may go to making all of you call me by my full name, Luscious. I feel I deserve the respect.

DS13 is having friends over all day. I should clean the house a little and catch up on the wash...I'm hear all day, I shoud make the best of it. I will have to do pool duty later, but if the house is in shape, I won't feel bored.
Here's my list:

1. shift wash
done
2. unload dw
done
3. Load dw
done
4. wipe bath
ok
5. clear dr table

6. call dumpster people...we're doing a roof

7. swiffer kitchen floor
ok
8. dust 1st floor

9. windex 1st floor

10 vac 1st floor

Mail is here..report cards are due....ours are mailed...it is always such anticipation. I like the old way when they got to get them and study them on the bus before giving it to us. They are always so nervous, even though there is never anything to be nervous about.

I'm off to get my jobs done. I'll be back. Miss Luscious( note title of respect.

I' quit....I don't feel like it. I"m going outside
