June is Worldly month for not busting out all over.

New Month - meant to get to this yesterday, however I had other things that obviously must have come first - like falling asleep on the couch in front of the TV.

Let's see if we can lose some combined weight this month. Any suggestions on how much we can lighten our footprint on this good earth?

Here is the link back to the old thread should you need it. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/supp...we-wont-7.html

Shad 06-01-2013 06:47 PM

Gotta go shop for some compost soil and then plant the beetroot and carrots. It's fine for a change. Not warm and sunny but at least not raining like most days last week.
Back later with the latest gossip and personals.

annie175 06-01-2013 11:20 PM

My daddy went to be with my momma this afternoon. I am sure he is the happiest he has been since April 27, 2010. I will miss you dad, as much as I miss momma. I love you both so very much. Happy Birthday to us daddy!

May be absent for a while....

Laura705 06-02-2013 10:38 AM

Morning all. Yesterday was overcast most of the day, but the rain didn't come til about 5, after the dog's walk, thankfully. Yesterday I did a Zumba class, fun & sweaty, a good workout. About 10- 15 min. In, 2 women joined the class, not dressed for working out at all - one in clogs, the other in flimsy canvas shoes, neither wearing socks. Must have been some spontaneous idea on their part, lol.

Watched the movie "Goon" last night- a funny, very crude & violent movie about a man who ends up as a hockey team's enforcer on the ice. Otherwise, no planting (soil is soooo wet), just some laundry & general puttering.

Annie - so very sorry about your dad's passing. I hope you are comforted that he's w/ your mom now even as you sorely miss him & grieve your loss.

Shad - Thanks for starting our new thread. NOT busting out -love that! June can bust out, but not US!!!

Mel - Hope the kids are having a good weekend at the trailer. Lol re the maintenance man in fl! At least the carpet is clean now! Poor woman - she surely needs a nursing home if she's confused.

Ceejay - Did you ever get to lunch w the uncles yesterday?

Happy - Glad you enjoyed the new fish fry. How was the shift w the classmate??
===
Decided to skip an exercise class today, and so my punchcard/ session ends w/ 5 untaken classes. Oh well, I'll get over it.

Today must include shopping! Right now I'm battling the urge to go out & pick up a couple doughnuts. Maybe ill just have some hot cereal like Mel, but mine will be Cocoa Wheats or oatmeal.

TTFN!

happy2bme 06-02-2013 11:45 AM

Good morning ladies,

Annie I am very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. It seems like he hit a health bump really hard and failed fast or perhaps I missed that he was struggling for a while. As you say, he is back with Momma again and hopefully at peace. Prayers and comfort hugs to you. Come back when you can, we will miss you until you return.

Laura - how crazy that the ladies just show up for class willy nilly. Clogs in a Zumba class? :dizzy:  :sssh: on the donut word  Much better with Cream of Wheat. What a "summer" we are having, eh? We are dipping below freezing tonight so the garden will be tarped. Up here we are getting several nights in the 40's for routine temps. 70 during the day but really chilly at night. Maybe I'll get good carrots after all but not much else. I guess you'd best get out and get your replacement plants before they are all gone. I wish the stores would carry vegetable plants for a second planting - especially stuff that peters out quick like beans, cilantro and parsley but I guess it doesn't sell after the initial spring planting.

Hello Java

Thanks for setting up the new thread Shad. I did not do much in the way of lightening up my personal footprint last month. Have to work harder on giving up the sodas, making menus and sticking with them. I did eat cleaner last month - sometimes when I decide to focus on the weight loss my body says oh no you don't and it backfires on me. But I am going to try harder this month, not liking how I'm feeling.

Yesterday went well at the thrift shop. A couple popped their heads in the door and asked if the shop was pet friendly. We said of course and in they walked with their St. Bernard dog. :yikes: Beautiful pup, very people friendly but BIG. Very BIG. About 180 pounds big. Soft and silk fur, a really nice dog. Yesterday was not the greatest weather day - on the cooler side, mostly cloudy with spots of both rain off and on. We had a good day at the shop and I enjoyed talking with my former classmate. She realized after a while that she recognized me from the popcorn shop. After a while I realized that I probably just talk too much. I'm a pretty open person and a yakker and I have to be more cognizant of applying filters to what I say and less is often times more. People ask me what happened to the popcorn shop and I think I should just say that I don't know, I left before they closed up. I also need to keep my opinion to myself about the people at the thrift store. At one point I told my partner yesterday that I was not meaning to be gossipy - just passing along what I had heard and experienced which is there are some groups and people you want to work with, and others it is best avoiding because of the drama surrounding them. It's a pity that there is so much to be done there. The back room is filling up with stuff and every day I have been there more things are dropped off. L was looking at the shelves and said a lot of the stuff was old and tired looking, and there was a rash of things in the back that should be brought out to freshen up the place as well as boxes and boxes of books. There were also several seasonal (Christmas) pieces that would probably not sell at this time of year and were taking up valuable shelf space. She said she'd love to work on the merchandise. The head of the pricing committee came in to pick up some stuff and we chatted for a while. They need help, the ladies doing it now are almost 80 years old and they said they need some new blood to help. So much to do, hard to not get sucked into more than you really want to commit to.

Anyway, I need to go make a grocery list and get over to the store. Now that the summer people are in town, it would actually be best to shop late in the evening as it's a big hassle now. People come into the store, are not familiar with it and stand there blocking traffic in the middle of the aisles looking for things. That would not be so bad but they have no consideration for others trying to get by and sometimes even when you say "excuse me" they don't move over. I think they should rearrange the aisles in the summer and put a section that contains paper goods, breakfast cereal, milk, bread, pop, water and frozen pizzas so those people could stare to their hearts content and the rest of us can get on with our business

Let me get on with the day - hope you all have a nice Sunday. Hello to the rest of the Worldlies.

MELODY525 06-02-2013 04:18 PM

Annie
So sad to read about your dad's passing. We'll be sending hugs and prayers

Shad
Thanks for setting up the June thread. I've made some progress but not as good as Laura. I'm changing weigh in day's to Saturdays. Actually weighed in at 194.6 this past Saturday. Hope to at least maintain if not lose 5 pounds for June, and continue to exercise. And deal with stress better at work.

Java
You could pop in a few more times. It's always good to see you.

Happy
I've learned to do as Mel says deny, deny, deny. And I've learned NOT to associate with co-workers. I do let them vent but I've learned to keep my mouth closed.

Mel
What's the election for this time? Don't work to hard.

Laura
I bet those women dressed that way to come to the class was a sight to see. I think I'd like to try Zumba. May have to get a DVD or look on line to see if there are any video's Didn't make it for lunch on Saturday but did go after the storm. Got to my uncles around 3 p.m. It rained HARD.

-------
I did do some Pilates last night for about 20 minutes. Nothing else is new.

happy2bme 06-03-2013 11:30 AM

Morning girls,

Guess it's going to be on the quiet side here for a bit.

Good luck with the elections Mel. Hope you don't wear yourself out working and handling everything. Sorry to hear that yet another friend has bad news on the health side. I totally understand the fingers crossed hoping it doesn't happen to you too. I say nah, you have too much to do ;) hang in there!

Ceejay - sounds like you've set some good goals for the month, here's to June success  (toasting you with a cup of tea ;) ) Yes, I too found out the disappointment that it's better to have a hands off approach with coworkers. At least the ones that you directly work with. Thank you for the reminder. Outside of the rain how has the weather been so far? It's much cooler this year than last, although they said that last year was warmer than usual so it's hard to say if this is normal or cool :dizzy:

Annie - sending you some love and hugs to get through this difficult time

Laura - I guess I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like Zumba  Perhaps it's because of my defective gene that inhibits my ability to learn dance moves. But I'm glad to hear that you had a good time at your class and enjoyed yourself. Sorry you lost out on 5 classes but sometimes things work out that way. Are you going to replace the punch card with the Jazzercise this time around?

Shad you must be quite busy these last few days.

Hi Michelle

Yesterday early evening I was talking to my Mom on the phone when hubby came rushing down the stairs from the loft area. He had heard a noise outside, looked out the window to see a bear had toppled over the trash can and was about to go hunting for a meal. He grabbed his pistol and the air horn and went outside. The bear decided to move on - I was nervous he was going to get curious about the greenhouse - but he stopped at the Shepard's hook and stood on hind legs to check out the new empty flower pots we just hung there. Hubby said it was a great picture, ran inside to get his camera but by then the bear moved off across the yard. We have not put corn out in a long time so there is pretty much nothing for them to eat but they have a very powerful sense of smell - 1,000 times stronger than we do and he was rummaging around in the area we would normally set the corn down. Hubby blasted the air horn and the bear just looked up at him like "what???". A few more blasts and he reluctantly walked away. This was a smaller bear than the one we saw earlier this spring. Might have been the younger guy we saw last spring - don't know how fast they grow. This was a bit disturbing because up to this point we have only seen the bears at the far end of the yard. They have stayed away from the house. The garage is about 15 feet from the house and there is an alcove of sorts between the garage and the house where the land is built up with a stone retaining wall. It's a short hop from the garage door to the deck stairs and up to the house. We keep the garbage and recycling bins next to the garage entry door less than 10 feet from the deck stairs. The bear was plopped on the ground with the trash can and could have easily turned and come up the deck stairs - which they do. Seeing him across the yard is one thing, seeing him on your deck is quite another :yikes: DH put the bins in the garage for the night and we haven't seen any evidence that he returned after that. We were thinking of leaving the hummingbird feeders out overnight but now we know that's not a good idea because bears love sugar water as much as seed, corn and fruit. We have quite a few hummingbirds, seems like a few more join the crew every couple of days. They are swarming the feeder like they do in the fall - I've not seen this in the spring ever. All I can guess is that they are arriving from down south and are as hungry as the bear when they get here and see some welcome food. We did cover the garden yesterday and I put all the flower pots in the greenhouse. It got to 34 degrees, just shy of freezing so I guess that's good. The cool weather plants are loving this, my tomatoes not so much. After working at the thrift shop Saturday I noticed they could use some big bags. I had a large shopping bag that was filled with shopping bags I was saving as well as a bag of assorted plastic bags. Went to go get them only to find out that someone in this house had decided to rearrange things, came across them and tossed them in the trash without saying anything to me about it. Thanks a lot there. I had been keeping some packing paper from the move - neatly smoothed and rolled - because I figured I'd use it if I had a garage sale. I've decided I'm just going to get rid of the stuff I don't need anymore and therefore don't need the paper. So I folded it into squares and took it down to the thrift shop along with some large grocery bags. I walked into the store and a man was sitting behind the counter. I said hi, introduced myself and started talking. He didn't acknowledge me, didn't say a word. I was about to ask him if he was dead when this lady came running Edith Bunker style from the back of the store. She introduced herself, said she was a snowbird from Illinois and they had just come back after 8 months to open their place up here for the summer. She's a volunteer over the summer months. Delightful lady. It was her unresponsive husband sitting in the chair. He said not a word to me the entire hour I was there. We had a nice chat and since she had not been at the store for 8 months, I stayed with her while she did the closing because some things had changed and she was a little unsure of things. It was a good opportunity for me because it cleared up 2 things I was not sure about also. At the stroke of 3 (closing), the husband came to life and locked the front door. C said he did not like to stay A MINUTE past closing  We counted the register out while he stood impatiently at the counter drumming his fingers. Which made our counting of the money all the more nerve wracking. But we got everything done and were out the door long before he busted a gut  I'm not sure if she doesn't drive or didn't want to be alone but he was surely no help at all  She said she is coming back tomorrow like me to help with sorting the donations so I'll get to spend more time getting to know her. Me and my former classmate are BY FAR the youngest of the people there. I feel like I'm 30 instead of pushing 60 so I guess that's a good thing  Went to the grocery store afterwards, got a lot of nice fruit and vegetables as well as meat for the week. I did splurge on 2 filet steaks as well as 2 halibut (fish) filets. We had the steaks yesterday - oh they were soooo yummy with some potatoes I grilled up with fresh herbs and some corn on the cob. The drought really took a toll on the corn last year but the sweet corn we've had for the last 5 weeks has been fantastic. They said it's from Florida so it's nice to know the crops have made a come back. I'm about to go have some yogurt and fresh berries before I head out to finish up the planting.

And with that I have babbled long enough - have a good day all.

ceejay52 06-03-2013 01:46 PM

Happy
Oh My those bears. It does sound like you are having a good time at the thrift store. Be careful on grilling outdoors you may have hungry bears inviting themselves. The weather has been much nicer this spring. My uncle and I were talking about that yesterday.

_____________
It does seem quiet in here especially with Annie and Mel not here today.
I got to work this morning and the other boss man was here waiting to explain some things to me about draining one of the ground storage tanks for inspection this week. That went well. Took approximately 2 hours to get down to the depth they wanted and the rest is going out on the ground. In the mean time they told me to start the plant. I did but all of a sudden I heard the water coming up out of the floor down stairs. It took them till almost 12 noon to figure out the probe in the clear well had burned loose. They fixed that but it 's running completely different than our normal run. The elevated tanks were lower than I would like so I'm filling those up but I'm robbing as much water as I'm putting into the ground storage tank. So it doesn't look like the level indicator on the ground storage tank has moved. I'm sure thankful for my nerve meds today. I'm almost tempted to take one now but they are scheduled for 6 p.m.

diyana 06-03-2013 02:49 PM

Good morning ladies (it's still morning here in CA),

I've been so busy. Since I didn't get the job in Escondido and it looks like I'll be here for a few months at least, I spent the whole day on Saturday getting settled into my step-mom's house, which included going through several boxes, sorting out what I really need and have room for, and putting the rest either back in my nearly full storage unit or up in the attic at my step-mom's.

And Sunday, Santa and I went to the coast. We tried out a couple beaches that were easy to access and not too crowded. :beach: Then we drove up and down the coast a little ways to see if we could find other dog friendly places. We came across this one stretch of road where several people were looking out to the ocean. I found a parking spot and Santa and I went over to take in the view. There was a pod of 6 dolphins (4 adult and 2 babies) swimming not to far off shore. They were beautiful! I didn't have my camera with me, just my phone and since the camera in my phone doesn't zoom, you can barely make out the dolphin fins. On the way home from the beach, we stopped at a really nice dog park. It's a little too far away to go after work (because the traffic going in that direction is horrible), but it's a very nice place to go on the weekends.

Today, my step-mom and I are anxiously awaiting word about my niece. She is pregnant with her first child, a boy, and she was due over a week ago. Her doc said if she didn't have the baby by last night, she would be admitted into the hospital and be induced. So they did that last night, and she still hasn't gone into labor! She's doing fine, so is the baby. I guess he's just cozy in there and doesn't want to leave!!

================================
I haven't had a chance to catch up on personals, but I wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to ANNIE. I'm so sorry for your loss. Take comfort that your parents are together now. I know it's difficult, painful and so heartbreaking. It's bad enough when you lose one parent...but when you lose both...it's so much worse.

I love you, Annie. Know that your strong faith and supportive family and friendships will help you get through this. Remember and cherish all the good times. I was smiling to myself last night thinking of your dad and how much he loved your excellent home cooking, especially your pineapple upside down cake. You were a wonderful, loving daughter, which is no surprise since that's how you are to everyone.  :grouphug:

I've got to get back to work.

Much love and many hugs to all,

annie175 06-03-2013 04:11 PM

Thank you girls...I plan on placing a birthday card, Father's day card and a can of pineapple in with him. I am so messed up right now. My heart is breaking and have been crying for two days straight. Thank you sisters for all your support...I am just a wreak.

MELODY525 06-03-2013 06:07 PM

OK I am officially tired. Very long day that began early.
My friend bought me gave me a vegetarian fallafel [sp]
I was sick as a dog.Never again.
From now on no one can buy me lunch!!
but she wanted to have lunch with me and yalk.
Her Dr found a tumor in her stomach and a cyst on her pancreas.
Surgery is scheduled for the 21st.

Tomorrow is election and the mayor just called.
What a mess. Does anyone do their frassing job anymore?
Sometimes I think he & I are the only ones.
Jen and I will take turns being a challenger at the table.
We bought food ahead of time so we have nothing to do tomorrow but be there.

My bosslady is devastated without her mother.
We hugged on and off all day.
My heart is just broken watching her.
I thought of our Annie all day too.
I thought of Shad too.
Hope my sisters could feel the mental hugs I sent out to them.
Please God, we need watching over :yoga:

The one good thing is that Jen has passed out of the anger stage and is done crying also.
She has other things to think about.
The weekend helped her get out of the pity party rut.
We laughed today for the first time in about 3 weeks.
Right now the kids are on the phone with her and excited about coming here.
Wish I could get excited with them.....NOT!!! ROFLMAO
Hope that does not make me a bad person!!!

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer but I didn't know who else to turn to.
So aren't you all the lucky ones!! :lol3: :lol3:

I will shower and do personals in a few minutes. :scooter:

Sorry, I have been missing, but things go on while I am planning to do other things. Yesterday I went down to get a new pair of glasses and picked up a cot mattress and some cot sheets and a quilt. The bits of the cot are all over my bedroom floor and I need to get on to that today.
I go to NZ in 19 days so I am trying to get sorted for that, and yesterday my DB2 arrived around with his tree lopper thingy and help to prune the Poinciana tree in the front yard. First time he has volunteered to do anything and actually turn up in years. As well as that the green waste bag man arrived to take away my hedge and tree prunings and tells me that he has sold his business, is retiring and next month will be his last pick up. His co-worker is taking over so hopefully he will be just as good. Then the neighbour appeared on the scene while I was trying to fill up my new bags and said that Joe has collapsed on the floor. She has called the ambulance, can I come take a look? What am I expected to do? Dunno but I went anyway. Poor guy has a bad set of kidneys and was carted off to hospital for another couple of days. Hope he has good health insurance. He has sure used it over the past couple of years.
Anyway - enough about me.

Annie - You can't help your emotions at a time like this. Cry as much as necessary. The grief syndrome will play out as it did for your mum. Grief, anger, acceptance and memories. I'm glad you have the family and Curtis there to help you along. I'm afraid I can't say much that will help and wish I could teletransport myself over there to give you a big hug.

Happy - I saw the story of E and the bear on facebook late last night. Good luck with that. Your garden is sounding good. We have had some very cool (for us) temps this year and my veges are basically standing still. I'm glad you are enjoying (sort of) the shop. It gets you out of the house and beats cabin fever.

Michelle - sounds like you and Santa are settling in well. It always helps when the weather co-operates.

Ceejay - sounds like some maintenance is well overdue for some of your machinery. Won't help if the city runs out of water.

Laura - Hope you beat the doughnut craving and settled for the wheat or oats. I'm having instant oats again. I understand the leaving of 5 sports on the punchcard. Some times it just happens. I think I have a card in my wallet from the gym at Banana Alley in Melbourne when I was working down there last. There is no date on it but I suspect that the gym is either not there anymore or has changed hands and so can't be honoured anymore.

Mel - poor Jen. You have to go through these stages to come to a peaceful acceptance. Doesn't make it any easier. Life is just about as complicated over there as I have over there without the addition of disability.

So the cat is going berserk for some reason. The sun is shining. I have done my run for the day. Getting better and going further everyday. Not losing much weight for all the effort tho.
I've finished the big T's doco and starting on a course outline for Micks training stuff.
With a little bit of luck, the back yard will be cleared and neat and tidy by this afternoon, the front yard should be clear of all the hedge debris and maybe I will have the cot done.
I also need to take the cat to the vet. I think she is having problems with her teeth.
So I guess I need to get on with it. But..... lets see if I can find some nature to inspire all of us to get out there and just do it.
Here it is. A beautiful 150 year old peaceful church not far from Christchurch, which for some reason was mostly spared the earthquake. It's for Annie

Shad 06-03-2013 06:49 PM

Mel - typing away over my head.

I will check out the diary for Friday your time and see what we can organise. The dvd arrived quicker than I anticipated. I meant to tell you to watch out for it. Glad it arrived okay - they probably checked it out to see if it was pornographic.

Gotta go. Shower, breakfast, coffee and then work .

ceejay52 06-03-2013 07:10 PM

Whew glad this day is almost over. We are still draining the ground storage but what a mess. I've mad more trips up and down these stairs today that I may count that as exercise.

Posted this pix on my cover page of FB and also wanted to share with my sisters....This is his BD last June at 85 and 29 for me...haha

annie175 06-03-2013 11:30 PM

How can a heart hurt even more...I mean really...just when you think hurt cannot get any worse...it rises to an even extreme event. Not only do I miss daddy but it opens the wound for momma. Why does GOD put us through this???? Especially for emotional people like me? I know not to question the word of GOD, however I do. Messed up and a wreck.

diyana 06-04-2013 12:10 AM

Annie - I know your pain. It is heartbreaking and gut wrenching. It does get a little easier over time, but the only way past it is through it, I'm so sorry to say. Before I lost both my parents, my cousin lost both of hers a few years apart. She said it's quite common to feel alone and lost and like an orphan. Know that you have a wonderful husband, loving children and siblings, not to mention many other family and friends, to help you get through this. We are here for you. :grouphug:  I'm just a phone call away, my friend. Anytime, day or night.

ceejay52 06-04-2013 09:25 AM

Michelle
Wow what good advice! I have often felt like an orphan after both my parents passed. But my uncles took me under their wing. It will be the same way with them passing I'm sure.

Annie
Hugs. You will get through this with support from others. God only puts as much on us as we can bare. It will make you stronger as time goes by.

---------------
The ground storage tank is still draining but almost finished. The guys are guarding the hole where the inspector will be climbing inside. They are to keep out all small animals.

What a day yesterday!. My back and foot were very painful last night when I got home so I took a Mobic and brought one with me today. I went to bed with a headache and woke up one also. Got tickled ant my co-worker. She's not experienced this before and she had all sorts of new things happen to her that threw her off guard.
Need to call and make an appointment for Friday if possible for lab work and refills. I'm going back to Paragould Thursday to visit with my cousin from Midland Texas. These three cousins are like sisters and we grew up across the street from each other.
The inspectors are here.

happy2bme 06-04-2013 10:14 AM

Hi girls,

Today will be a full day for me - going to work at the thrift shop - this time in the back of the house cleaning and sorting donations. So I don't have time for a long post today.

Annie - my heart and hands go out to you. I know you are feeling very sad, time will make it a bit easier though you will always feel the loss. Be comforted in the fact that you were very good to him, always looking out for him and taking good care of him. We like to believe he is in a happy place now too. Be good to yourself and let those around you comfort you  That was a really nice picture you posted of both of you.

Ceejay - with all the walking and stairs you do at the plant, a busy day indeed counts for some exercise!

Shad - lovely picture of the church you posted. I really like how they framed it in between the rocks.

Mel - good luck with the election work today. Don't wear yourself out.

Michelle - hope the great nephew decided to greet the world yesterday.

Hi Laura

Off I go into the wild blue yonder... have a good one ladies!

diyana 06-04-2013 10:56 AM

Good morning my dear friends,

It is with EXTREME excitement, pride and joy that I announce my grand-nephew (or is it great-nephew?) Ryan James was born this morning at 2:01 am, all 8lbs 9oz of him! He has a wonderful, loving mommy and daddy, and he's already got a big family and so many friends who love him also! Happy Birthday, Ryan! Here are the stats and a quote from the baby's daddy, "32 hour labor, 8lbs 9oz, 22inches long, APGAR score 9.9. He is a beautiful baby boy."

=======================

Ceejay - Like you, I was fortunate to have a wonderful aunt and uncle (my last remaining aunt and uncle - my dad's brother and his wife) to take me under their wing. They did the same for my other cousin who lost both of her parents. I know it will hit me hard when they pass, and also when my step-mom passes. :-(

Happy - I really hope there's not too much dust or anything to upset your allergies/sinus health where you're cleaning. :crossed:

Okay...gotta get to work. I'll be able to concentrate better now that Ryan finally made his appearance!

Much love and many, many hugs to everyone,

diyana 06-04-2013 11:12 AM

Annie - I totally agree with what Happy said. Please be comforted by the fact that you were so good to him, as you were for your momma as well. You loved them, cared for them, and made them feel so very special. Sending you much love and many hugs today and everyday.

Laura705 06-04-2013 11:30 AM

Morning all.

Annie - Such a difficult time for you and your family. :( You've had such a wonderful long time with both of your parents, your pain and grief bear that out. Hang in there girl, I know today will be especially rough. You're fortunate to have your kids and C by your side during this. Know we're here for you!! Love that photo of you and your dad!

Happy - Your bear visit had to be scary as heck! I'm like Mel - citygal all the way. :D Best to not keep anything food-like outside, especially the garbage cans! Too funny about the volunteer's husband. Not sure why he's there at all...Hope today's sorting goes well.

Ceejay - Sounds like yesterday was a huge challenge at work - I hope today isn't as eventful. Hope the pain med does the job on the aches. How nice you'll see your cousins on Thursday! :)

Michelle - Congrats on the long-awaited great & grand-nephew!! :bb: Are they in your immediate area, or down in the SD area??

Mel - How did the election go yesterday?? Sorry the falafel didn't agree with you, hope you're feeling better today. I love 'em, but don't eat them very often - I try to stay away from too much deep-fried food. Sorry to hear about your friend's tumor/cyst - I hope her upcoming surgery is successful. Good to hear that Jen is in a better mindset at the moment.

Shad - You sound busy as usual. How's the neighbor w/ the kidney probs?
===

Had a pleasant day yesterday - the sun finally came out and it warmed up a bit too. I lazed for a good chunk of the morning and then got out and did a bit of shopping, including two string bean plants (Blue Lake) to replace the one the rabbit ate. (BTW, that one is trying to come back - apparently the rabbit left an unfurled leaf behind.)

In the afternoon I finally planted my 4 windowbox planters. Haven't done any digging in the ground - it's way too wet. I do have a few more pots to plant, might do that in the next day or two. I was thinking to just dump the wet soil (there's already some plants in the pots that I'd overwintered) and plant with the new bag of potting soil I bought. But it's so much more dense than the last bag. Doesn't help that it got wet sitting outside at the garden center....

I had a passing thought of going to a Jazzercise class last night, but the day got away from me and my only exercise was a dog walk w/ doggy and bf.

I will be going to Jazzercise now for my exercise, and haven't bought a punchcard for the recplex's fitness classes, not even for just 1 class per week. I might just have a go at doing 3 J. classes a week. I used to do that - they're Monday and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. I'll have to shoot an e-mail to my instructor and see what equipment, if any, to bring. For a while way back when, we used to bring the big exercise balls, and dumbbells (and mats, of course). This instructor has her classes in 4 different locations and so she can't supply equipment like the franchises that have a single permanent location.

Not feeling up to a WW meeting or W-I today, so I'm going to skip this week entirely, first class I've missed. I haven't heard anything about a new session starting even though we're within 2 or 3 weeks of finishing this one. I do plan to continue.

Okay, enough rambling for me. Back to slogging through all this !@#$% e-mail. :comp:

diyana 06-04-2013 11:40 AM

Laura - My niece, her husband and their son live in Southern CA, about 25 miles (or a 1 hour drive) east of LA, in the San Bernardino area. They are about 1.5-2 hours northeast of San Diego. They are planning on coming up north in August, so I'll get to see them at that time. Or I might try and schedule a weekend visit in the next couple months. Glad you had a nice day off. I need to find some exercise classes to do, and I'm thinking about joining WW, but I'm having trouble finding out how much it is per week (even on their website). :dunno:

UPDATE: I just found the WW pricing page. It wasn't working last night when I tried to access it.

annie175 06-04-2013 04:51 PM

No tears today, a couple of times almost lost it. DD and babe came over and visited for a couple of hours. The babe is my therapy. Cleaning the house and now cooking for brother and SIL...DD and baby Jacob coming over also. Dinner at 6 pm. Keep it together girl...Tomorrow will be the toughest, laying him to rest next to momma. I know, be strong.

diyana 06-04-2013 05:17 PM

Annie - You are strong, but you are also in pain. Don't shut down. Don't fight the tears. Allow yourself to feel what you feel. Crying is not a bad thing given what you're going through.

Michelle
Congrats on the new great nephew. They are grand. I still have seen my newest great niece that lives in California. Her mom is good about putting pictures on FB.

Annie
More hugs coming your way. Take Michelle's advice and don't shut down.

Mel
Glad you are having a good day today.

Laura
They have a Jazzericse location in Paragould. Wish they had more things like that here.

Happy
Sounds like you like to work at the Thrift Store. How many hours do you plan to work each week?

------
The company has inspected the tank and I've been refilling it. Not sure how much water is in there yet. The bossy boss wanted it to run over but my supervisor didn't want to come up here after work so he turned that tank off. They'll pull a sample and take to Paragould to the lab for testing.
I'm about to get used to this way of doing things. It does make you more alert to things.

Hello all,
Had a good day today. Went for my run and am now able to jog most of the distance on the back track. It'll be a while before I can do the entire length. But I am getting along. Sometimes I still have problems with my knee but not enough to have to stop. It is still not completely healed. Then I did a bit of yard work. Not sure if I have any carrot or beetroot plants left since the cat dug up a number of the little plants. I might just dig her in if she doesn't stop. The car was due in for a service today and I dropped it over and carried on into town to have coffee with the Big T and a lunch with a friend I worked with a couple of years ago. She is going overseas on an extended holiday soon - walking tours of UK and also a long tour of West Africa. Lucky girl. Picked up the car and came home to cuddle the cat and have a wine and sort out some dinner. Now lounging around in my pyjamas and thinking about what to do with the evening. I guess tomorrow will be front yard clean up and getting a load of junk ready for the dump as well as finishing putting the cot together for the royal visit in July.

Annie - you can only concentrate on getting through the next minute, the next hour and the next day. It will get better but unfortunately has to run its course. Each person is different and what worked for me, may not work for you. But it sure can hurt.

Happy - I think there was a reason why they framed the picture that way. If I remember rightly there was a mighty rift in the earth behind the church. By looking up at it, the crack in the earth wasn't visible. It's amazing the thing actually stood up and stayed up.
Hope you didn't get too dust laden out the back of the shop.

Michelle - congratulations to you and the proud parents on the birth of your new Great nephew. He looks delicious.

Laura - the neighbour appears to be fine. They sent him home this morning. He has these attacks every so often. They are serious, but he always seems to rally around and gets out.
Hope the jazzercise works well for you

Mel - missing for the day. Okay. Will talk to you over the weekend

Ceejay - hope the foot is okay now and the headache is gone.

I think that is about it for the day. Not much news over here. Everything is going up because the last government was inept. Gawd I get so sick of that statement. The poor old taxpayer ends up paying for everything anyway.

I've added a couple of photos for your enjoyment and enlightenment. One is my granddaughter and the other is Lake McKenzie in NZ. Different angle on reflections.

Have a fun day

Laura705 06-05-2013 10:18 AM

Morning all. The boss is back. The admin PM'd me - "she doesn't look happy to be back". My response "Would you be?" Boss was gone for a three wk European getaway.

Shad - Glad you're back in the groove with your running/jogging and the knee isn't holding you back. When you said you might dig the cat in...I pictured only her head sticking out of the ground, LOL. Glad the neighbor is alright. Gorgeous little S. in the photo! Bet you're looking forward to seeing her in the flesh in July. :)

Ceejay - Totally clueless about water plants, so it seems odd to deliberately let one run over! Your comment made me wonder - has something drastically changed there?

Michelle - The grand-nephew is just gorgeous! Looks like he's actually focused, but it's probably just the photo. Or he was just born ready to see everyone and everything right away!! Not wasting any time, LOL. :) It'll be nice to see him when you get the chance to get away.

Annie - Like everyone's said, let yourself feel what you're feeling, it's part of the process, painful as it may be.
===

Nothing much to report. My new sneakers arrived yesterday. I have to phone the eye doc to see if my new lenses have arrived yet. We'll see if their office is open on Wednesdays or not.

Having trouble getting back into the groove with my eating and tracking after the weekend, but I'll keep trying. Feeling like a slug not having exercised in a few days. I'll be going to a class tomorrow.

Okay, back to it. Have a good day everyone! :flow1:

ceejay52 06-05-2013 10:26 AM

Laura
Nothing has changed at the plant. We are in the middle of tank inspections and they always choose my shift to do that. The way we're operating the plant their are certain gages that do not work at the moment.

Shad
Good for you in running part of the way. What a beautiful GB you have!

------
So thankful that today is my last day to work this week. I'm both physically and mentally tired.
More later.

diyana 06-05-2013 11:44 AM

Good morning ladies -

I went to bed early last night hoping to catch up on some sleep. Didn't happen. Oh well. :dunno: I'm going to a Curves today to see if it's what I want to sign up for...or if I just want to try WW again. Curves has a slightly higher weekly fee, but it includes a suggested meal plan PLUS exercise facilities.

In talking to my sister yesterday, I learned my niece had a bit more complicated delivery than was first let on. Awhile after they gave her the inducing medication, her water broke with such force that the baby's hand game out. Upon examination, the doctor saw the baby's hand and made the decision that a c-section would have to be done. It was a very good thing too because the umbilical cord was wrapped twice around the baby's neck. If the doctor hadn't seen the little hand and had proceeded with a vaginal delivery, the baby would've been in great distress and might not have made it. :yikes: The family all agrees that God works in mysterious ways and that the little fella's hand came out to say...hey, something's not right...I don't wanna come out this way! Anyway, momma and baby are doing great. The little guy took to breastfeeding right away. My niece will probably be released from the hospital tomorrow.

=========================

Shad - Speaking of little ones, your granddaughter is so precious!! And I love the photo of Lake McKenzie! I'm glad that your knee is doing a bit better and you're well enough to jog!! Sounds like a busy and productive day, with some fun socializing thrown in. :) Glad to hear your neighbor is back at home.

Laura - I can understand how your boss wouldn't be happy to be back after such a long, lovely vacation. Here's a buttkick to get you back on track with your eating, tracking points and exercising. :buttkick: I know, like I should talk...but you're doing so well!! I'm debating about trying a Zumba class in the area tomorrow evening. We'll see. Curves says their new circuit includes Zumba, but given how the rest of their circuit works, it could very well be one person dancing at a time while others are on the machine, and it could be to a video (which I could do at home). Not sure, but I'll find out later today.

Ceejay - I can see why they choose your shift for tank inspections...you seem much more experienced and knowledgeable than some of your co-workers. Are they going to fix the broken gauges or are they supposed to not work because of the way the plant is currently running? I hope you have a nice, relaxing long weekend. :beach:

Annie - Sending lots of comforting thoughts, hugs and prayers to you and your family. :grouphug:

 to Happy and Mel!

Much love and many hugs,

happy2bme 06-05-2013 01:02 PM

Hi ladies,

Yesterday just flew by. Kind of a messy situation in the store - I think the best for me is to stay on the fringes. There are a few things one on one most of us tend to agree with - some items are priced too high to move, some items will probably never sell and need to be pulled and we have too much of other things - like romance novels. Must have 300 romance novels - can't even give them away for free! Should we have a sale??? The problem is that when you make any suggestions to address some of the issues, there are some loud naysayers that poo poo everything. One lady was placing new items and noticed a wooden picture frame that was missing not only it's back, but also the clips to hold a picture in. She showed it to me and I agreed it should be pulled. She went back to the pricing ladies, showed it to them and they said to put it back on the shelf  As for the pricing, there is one specific person who overprices things - she says because she wants the maximum dollar for the thrift shop - and any effort to discuss price with her is met with steadfast resistance so no one crosses her more than once. As for the having a sale, I suggested a "sidewalk" sale - putting out merchandise in the front of the store outside. Someone else suggested that would be a good idea during one of our outdoor festivals later this month. The ladies poo poo'd that idea - who will run this? In the spirit of helping I stepped up and said I would handle it. Then they complained that they didn't have tables for outside displays. One lady said she might be able to loan them a table. When someone else said the weather was unpredictable I walked out of the room. What else can you do but step back? I wound up helping the book lady. She was very nice, easy going and the good thing is that if someone drops books off during the week, I can go through the bags, sort the stuff and put it out on the shelves. No mess, no fuss, keep things moving along! I did wind up working all day. I will also work all day Saturday. Was scheduled for the afternoon and the morning guy yesterday said he needed to find someone to fill in for him Saturday morning as he had to go out of town. I said I'd do it - he said that will be a LONG day - I said no longer than the days I put in at the popcorn shop and this is only 1 day - not something I'd make a regular habit of. I did it because he's a nice guy, maybe he can return the favor one day and we have a rough time finding people to come in. The regulars want just their set times, there are a few people who will work extra if needed but there are some open holes. I think the person who oversees the operation got roped into it and he has a lot of other irons in the fire so he sort of takes a pass on decision making and frankly I don't blame him - not worth the drama! Despite it all, I do enjoy what I'm doing, I am learning some of the people and I will stick with the ones I enjoy working with. Unlike the popcorn shop where you spent most of your time waiting on customers, here you spent most of your time chatting with the other desk people or amusing yourself as people browse the shop. I'm glad it's not as hectic!

Got home and DH had fixed a nice dinner of pan roasted halibut with lime and cilantro/corriander (turned out to be too rainy to grill), fresh green beans and roasted potatoes with garlic. It was a great meal. He even washed the dishes afterwards! I tried to finish the second half of my book but had over 360 pages to read. I did until my eyes got strained and blurry and still have about 50 pages left to go. I have an order from JC Penney to go pick up as well as a library book due tomorrow (not the one I'm reading). We are supposed to get more rain today and then it will dry out for a while. I think I'll finish the book, do some planting, clean the house and run my errands tomorrow.

We had the big black bear show up yesterday. Guess we have 2 of them roaming around. It's not as scary as it sounds - the older bears are more afraid of humans because they have the experience of being shot at I imagine so they run when they see a person. The younger ones are not aggressive, just hungry and it takes some persuasion to get them to leave. You just have to be watchful of your surroundings and make sure you don't make your area attractive to them. I still prefer dealing with them over the crazies in the city!

happy2bme 06-05-2013 01:21 PM

Here I've gone and wrote a book again. As for personals...

Annie - hugs and hearts to you today as you lay your dad to rest. We are all thinking of and supporting you. :grouphug:

Shad - I'm glad the knee is healed enough to resume your running. S is such a beautiful little girl. She's got those big eyes that melt your heart! Loved the mountain picture too although I thought it upside down at first even though I saw you mention reflection  Yesterday was national Hug Your Cat Day so it was nice of you to participate even if Miss Sunday is less than cuddlesome at times :yikes: I'm glad you mentioned carrots - how do you know when it's time to pull them out of the ground???? I know some of the carrot tops in the store are much much longer than mine are right now. I certainly don't want to disturb them prematurely.

Michelle - your great nephew looks perfect. Congrats to all. Too bad you will have to wait so long to see him in person but by then he won't be so wobbly either ;) And he will still smell the wonderful smell of a baby. Ohhhhhh. That is really a story for the books on his arrival! So glad they caught things in time. As for Curves vs WW - I'd probably make the investment in Curves as long as the circuit does not adversely affect your back. As you say they have a food program now too although I think that's a few dollars more in addition to the regular program. Nice thing about Curves is you can do the "class" at your schedule instead of trying to work around a set time. Sounds like a workable option - hope you like what you see when you go to check it out.

Ceejay - to your question about the store - I was thinking one shift a week, but absolutely no more than 2 days. I have to keep in mind I have responsibilities here at home too. I hope your inspections go well - I agree that they choose your shift because you are a seasoned veteran and know what you are doing. Is it also a small town in Missouri where you are thinking of retiring? Or about the same size as you are in now?

Mel - hope you are not passed out on the floor from yesterday's long election work. Come back when you're rested up.

Laura - you talked about possibly bringing equipment with you to Jazzercise class (unless I misunderstood) - I don't know anything at all about Jazzercise - does this mean you incorporate other things into the routines? I thought like Zumba it was just dance moves. Does this also mean the end to your kettlebell classes if you aren't doing the punch card?

Boy the time sure flies when you're sitting here at the computer. It's past noon and I have GOT to get myself in gear here. Have a good one all...

ceejay52 06-05-2013 04:38 PM

Happy,
As of now I'm going to live in Branson, MO with sis until she retires, then she wants to move to Nixa, Mo where one of her son's live. These plans are not in stone yet but I'm almost sure that's where I'll be.

Michelle
Not sure why I missed the picture of the baby. He's a cutie for sure. So glad the doctor was there. I would like to join a Curves but there's not one available in my town. Maybe when I retire.

Mel
Where are you today? Hope things are okay.

---------
It just dawned on me, 2 years 2 months and approximately 25 days till I retire. I'm counting them down.
