HAPPY....thank you for the HILARIous birthday card. I brought it to work to share with my buds. hahahahaha and it is so true and me!!! Perfect!

Laura705 06-19-2013 01:26 PM

Afternoon all – later post today and for a change I’m not typing over Happy’s head.

Michelle - I can imagine trying to squeeze all the meetings into a three-day week – why do they try to schedule them all on Tuesdays? Wednesday is a good day for meetings - people are more likely to be in the office. I know I hate to take single days off mid-week – just don’t want to come back to work the next day!! Thanks for posting the links to the back and hamstring stretches and exercises. I’ve done many of them during cool-downs at the end of exercise classes. I need to make them a daily thing – stretching and flexibility in general is very important and I just don’t make time for it, just do it when it’s incorporated into an exercise class. Hope the gym locations you can make it to have the right amenities and class schedule so you can make the best of the membership. Sounds like you’re really enjoying being back in sunny CA!!! I’m so happy for you sister!! :)

Happy – Did you buy any good bread at the Farmers Market? Yum, just love good bread. We met a friend on Sunday at Panera and bf & I had bread with our salads and soup. We didn’t eat it all, so we took the leftovers home and wrapped/froze it. Love good crusty bread. Gosh, you're still worried about frosts up there! Glad it didn’t get that cold and that you protected your plants. We had a chilly day yesterday, but no frost worries. Still, my veg patch (two tomato plants, one fresno pepper plant and three 95% dead bean plants, LOL) are not exactly thriving. I don’t think the veg patch is in the optimum position for the most sun, and being next to a flower bed probably blocks a bit of the sun at a certain time of day because some of those flowers can get tall. I’m thinking about some major changes to that flower bed – it’s been left to its own devices for years and it’s jam-packed with flowers, and you’d think there’d be no room for weeds to invade, but they still manage! Glad you got the pork roast done – sounds delish. Nice you’ll have guests coming to stay and shake up your schedule. Hope the shop finds some volunteers to fill in for the weekend. So you’ll only be making the trip to take your mom back home? How long will you stay when you’re in town?

Annie – Glad Sassy’s procedure went well yesterday. Sad to hear about Tari’s dog passing away. She had a lot of years with Bailey though, have to be thankful for that. Glad you aren’t permanently blocked from this site at work. I've tried to get to a couple sites - maybe from links that someone suggested - that were blocked by my company – due to content or just not deemed safe. Didn’t run into that issue recently with this one though. Yum, pizza – we had it last night too!!! I just put myself on the library’s request list for Silver Linings Playbook – I’m number 43!!! But they have 5 copies of it and if it’s new, the checkout period is only 2 days…I might get it in 2-3 weeks!! Maybe we’ll just rent it from Redbox instead, LOL. Weigh-in was good – down 1.2 pounds. I think the exercise is the main contributor because eating has been somewhat so-so lately. Speaking of eating – I’m not even a meatloaf person and that meatloaf you made sounds YUMMY. But it’s quite an involved recipe – I’m sure I’d enjoy it significantly more if someone else prepared it, LOL! :D

Shad – Nice of you to help ds with the reno work. Long wait for the car, but now you don’t have to choose between the car and little S, LOL and you get that upgrade. :D

Ceejay – Sounds like yesterday was challenging – I keep imagining a bathtub running over, lol. What really happens when the tank runs over – where does all that water go??. Hope today goes better. Are you going to schedule a visit to see your sister and her grandbaby anytime soon? Weekend coming already for you – nice!!

Mel – Have a lovely day today and not filled with too much work! Yeh, I suppose my eyes are getting dryer – I’ve done the same type of work for years and worn soft contacts for years, so it’s probably me that’s changed. :halfempty:

==
Went to the eye doc last night for a contact lens follow-up appointment. Yeh, the left lens was not sitting properly in my eye, so this brand is out for me. I have severe astigmatism, so it’s hard to properly fit my eyes with lenses. Back to my usual brand – they gave me the trial pair of those last night - and I hope nothing’s changed with the lenses. My rx hasn’t changed, thank goodness.

Instead of Middle Eastern for dinner last night, we opted for pizza. However, bf ordered from the wrong Malnati’s location! Much further drive for him – it was the one we usually go to when we eat in. The one nearer the house is a carry-out/delivery location only. When he went to pick up the pizza (at the near location), they didn’t have his order. They asked if they wanted them to cancel the order at the other location and order it there, but he said no. He didn’t think it was fair to have them eat the loss. If it had been me…if they’d offered to do that, I would have accepted. Oh well, that’s okay, we put the pizza in the oven when he got back with it and it was fine. So fine I had TWO pieces! That’s a lot of pan pizza. Bf updated his cell phone contact list so he doesn't do that again!!

My sweaty Jazzercise classes make me want to rework the car seat cover I made out of the bath towel and elastic. Too much of a PITA lately to get the elastic where it needs to be. Now I’m planning a design where the cover has an opening at the very top where it can just slip right over the headrest. I want to add some fabric to hang over the back and have it sewn to the front (towel part) at the sides so it’s sort of like a sleeve that goes a little ways down the seat back. But not too far down so as to interfere with the seat belt! I’ll check my stash of fabric, but I’m almost 100% positive that I have something that’ll work for that. That’s one project. The other is letting down the hem on some slacks.

That’s about it for me. Going to the nearby Thai Festival w/ a couple work buddies for lunch today. Hope they’ve got some tasty food there! :hungry:

diyana 06-19-2013 01:59 PM

Laura - The reason that all the critical, in person attendance required, meetings are scheduled for Tuesday is that some of the team members work from home on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and others on Monday, Thursday and Friday...while the rest of us work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesdays are essentially the only day that ALL of us are in the office. On the other days there are still meetings, but they are done via conference calls. I not good about stretching either. I just don't make time for it. I need to though. I need to get my back better because there are a lot of doggie-friendly hiking groups I'd like to join up with, but the usual hike is at least 2 miles and often 5 or more miles...and I can't get around the block without pain. Congrats on the weight loss! You've got to be close to goal, right? Good for you!!! You have me drooling at the mention of Lou Malnati's pizza. Yummmm. Wow! I'm impressed that you're designing your own car seat covers!! I hope your lunch is delicious!

ceejay52 06-19-2013 09:59 PM

Laura,
Funny you should ask about where the water goes when a tank runs over. This particular tank runs out the through an over flow port hole. It looks like a water fall. And unfortunately the water falls on the ground and out to the street. I should have made a picture of it but I was to panicked to do so. I did get a picture of the tank draining.
Wow, I wished I had your sewing ability. My mom was excellent at sewing and repairing anything. I didn't have the patience. I need to make myself hem some pants.
They invited me to the baby's birthday party this week end, but I can't go. I'll probably go in August around my birthday.

Michelle
Don't think I could handle a 2 mile walk/hike. But this is a good way to meet new friends.

Shad
How did the reno's go yesterday?

Now to go back and read some more

Good Morning Ladies of the Worldlie Type..........

Dad came to me in a dream last night. It was so real and happy. He said he felt wonderful and it was just beautiful in heaven. Everything was perfect, no pain and was happy to be with momma. I woke up with happy tears.

Then I dreamed dad and momma and I were going to Kings Island and my BF Tari was going also. The dream was all about making the plans to go, the reservations and where to stay. Now that is a funny dream to me.

Ok girls with knowledge of the Wisconsin Dells....C and I are going the third week in August....need suggestions where to stay, what to do, etc.

RIP James Gondolfi...51 years young. Heart attack.

MELLIE....You do not have to live in the shed. We have two perfectly good EMPTY bedrooms that you can chose from, altho one has about 900 DVDs in a ceiling to floor bookshelf, lol. Your choice.

LAURA...Congrats on the WL. Whew whoo to Ms. Laura, you are one rockin' star sister. Very proud of you. I don't think I have ever tried Thai food but would love to. Isn't it spicey?

CEEG...when the water tank overflows and runs into the street, do the kids play in it? Somehow I just imagine it. lol

Hey to all my sisters.

Have a wonderful Thursday/night all

Hugs.

Morning all.

Michelle - Ah, Tuesday is the only day to be face to face with everyone - what a scheduling nightmare! On days when I have too many meetings I just feel so unproductive. It's hard to dig into a project when you have meetings interspersed. But if it's always Tuesdays, you plan accordingly. Did you do the Zumba dvd last night? If so, how was it? I can see how you'd like to build up the distances you can walk without much pain - those outings with the dog folks sound like a lot of fun!

Ceejay - That sounds like it could be a lot of water depending on how much overflows from the tank! I'd also be too frazzled to be thinking of taking photos when that happens!! Too bad you can't be at the g-nephew's bday party this weekend.

Mel - Why would the drivers laugh at you - it's how they drive that could cause you the pain/problems! Typical SS bureaucracy. When I think of the waste in our federal, state and local governments, it's just a shame what the money could be doing for us.

Annie - What a lovely dream to have!! I'm glad you had that. :) And what a funny one about the travel to KI. I think the dream picked up on your plans to go to the Dells. I'll have to ask about where we stayed last September, but it was just a chain hotel, not a water park or a resort or anything special, so that might not interest you at all. I do recommend going on a ride on the Ducks. They are amphibious vehicles formerly used by the military that travel on both land and water and you get to be on the water to see the rock formations the area is known for. When I was a kid, we went to the Tommy Bartlett water ski show...the town itself is full of souvenir, t-shirt and fudge shops, totally touristy. We went in September when they have a craft (aka crap) show, flea market, parade, art fair, so that was fun. The attachment is from a short story by Flannery O'Connor and the one line made me think of you. I also thought of you when I read a columnist who mentioned basting her eggs with butter...;)

Hellos to the rest of the gang!
==
The Thai festival was nice yesterday. They had entertainment - dancing, and a description and symbolism in a Thai wedding ceremony, etc. I bought an order of chicken satay and it was larger than I thought, so I brought about half of it home. I also bought bf some Tom Yum popcorn, which is flavored like the soup of the same name that bf likes. It was pretty much just for fun because I'm not sure the flavor of the soup carries over all that well to the popcorn! Thai food can be spicy, but things like chicken satay (chicken usually on skewers, served with peanut sauce) and the popular dish Pad Thai aren't spicy. Same for things like potstickers, spring rolls, etc. Other dishes can be adjusted to your taste at the restaurant, i.e, you just tell them where you sit on a scale of 1-5 in terms of spiciness.

After work, bf and I went out to buy a couple new tires for my train bike, as well as a spoke for one of the wheels. The little air compressor unit we use for filling the tires on our bikes and other household equipment (wheelbarrow, two-wheel dolly, snowblower, etc.) crapped out the other day, so we also shopped for one of those. We ended up at Costco and found exactly what we were looking for. We also had a really cheap dinner there - 1/4 pound hot dog w/ drink, $1.50. Unbelievable. Bf and I always joke about going to Costco for a cheap dinner (because it's certainly not healthy - though I could have chosen a chicken caesar salad, but that was $4, so expensive, hahaha), but never do it - except for yesterday. We saw some teens in there and bf said he didn't think you need a membership to buy the concession stand food there. I'm sure the parents would be happy to know their kids are eating giant hot dogs and pizza...

I took down the hem on my slacks and did some upper body weights while I watched the rest of the hockey game, and that was about it. (Blackhawks won, TG!! They really needed this one, and now the series is even 2-2.) Oh, and I watered my flowers and plants and found some fabric to use for my car seat cover project. (Michelle - there's not much design to these covers, and I got the start of the idea from something online. Otherwise, it's just rough measuring. )

Having lunch w/ a work buddy today. Tonight will be Jazzercise class.

That's it for me. Everyone have a great day!

Annie - a pic from the Dells Duck tour friends and i took last Sept.

annie175 06-20-2013 12:02 PM

LAURA....haha on the home again, home again, I say that a lot. As much as C and I are into rocks we will most def to the duck tour. I am going on line later to check out sleeping places. Thai food sounds quite yummy, and I have had the chicken satay before, just didn't realize it was Thai, lol Go Blackhawks!!

diyana 06-20-2013 12:28 PM

Good morning ladies -

I haven't been sleeping well for the past couple weeks. I don't fall asleep until 11 pm or later, and then getting up at 5:30...well that's just not enough sleep for this chick. I've tried everything...cutting out caffeine after 3 pm, listening to meditation CDs. I got some Unisom yesterday, and that helped me fall asleep and stay asleep...though I still feel like I could sleep for a week. :faint: I didn't do the Zumba DVD last night, I was just too exhausted from lack of sleep.

I had a good meeting with my manager this morning. He's happy with my progress, which makes me happy! Might not meet the deadline of getting this one project done by the end of the month, but he's okay with the slight delay. He expected a bit of a learning curve.

=============================
Ceejay -- Bummer about losing all that water when the tank overflows. That wouldn't be a good thing here in CA where water is in such short supply. I know what you mean about wanting to go see the baby. I want to see my grand-nephew (and my niece and her hubby) soon. They're coming to northern CA in August, so I may have to wait until them to see the lil guy. Enjoy your 3 day weekend...are you going to Paragould? Sending happy birthday wishes to the baby.

Mel - Probably very wise of you to not go to the store. Twinges of pain are your body's warning system. SS is such a PITA to you. Dang! I hate how bureaucratic all the government agencies are. As for my back, I promise I'll be careful dear sister. You be careful too with your arms, legs and back.

Annie - So nice that you had dreams about your mom and dad. As for the Dells, you've got to ride a Duck (see Laura's photo). It's a fun ride and you get to see some of the beautiful scenery. Plus it's cool to be on a vehicle that travels on both land and water. The Dells boat tours are really good too. And if you like water parks, there's tons of them there to choose from. Another cool place that's about an hour's drive from the Dells is House on the Rock. It's a little pricey, but there's so much to see. I really enjoyed going there. (http://www.thehouseontherock.com/)

Laura - Luckily, I only have to attend 2-3 meetings per week, and one of them is a quick 15 minute touchbase with my manager. A lot of the team are in meetings or conference calls nearly all day. Ugh, I would hate that - can never get work done because all your time is taken up with meetings. Maybe because I'm a developer or maybe because I'm a contractor, they feel it's actually important for me to spend most of my time in my cube doing programming and being productive. :) Glad you had a nice time at the Thai festival. I love the peanut flavored Thai dishes. Costco is a great place to go for cheap lunches/dinners! Hmmm, I always thought you had to have a membership to purchase from the concession stands. Have a nice lunch with your work buddy, and have fun at Jazzercise.

Gotta go. I desperately need more coffee. :tired: :coffee2:

Much love,

ceejay52 06-20-2013 02:00 PM

Annie
When my mom passed away she would come to me in dreams to help me sort out things to do. Then one day I wanted one last visit with her and I came upon the huge crevice in the clouds. A man in a robe with a long white beard and a staff asked what my business was and I told him. He made the crevice come together and said your mom is in the building first booth. And yes there she was all clothed in white. She told me a few other things and said this would be her last meeting and she flew off with her wings spread out like an eagle. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
Last night I heard my name called while I was asleep. So she may be trying to contact me.

Mel
You did the right thing by not going shopping. There's always another time.
Some of our water tanks like the water towers do go to the ground in big pipes. I did make a picture of the tank draining and one of the tanks when the indicator was near the top indicating it was almost empty. I'll try to post those.

Michelle
You do sound a lot more at ease in California.

Happy
You'll have plenty to do before your relatives come for a visit. Think I'll call both my sister's tonight and talk to them. Maybe that will ease some of the anxiety I'm having.

----------
I've had a boil type thing on my upper leg this past week which was really sore. It drained by itself Wednesday. But I let the doctor here take a look see this morning and he gave me some antibiotics to take for it. I asked him about his retirement. He's at retirement age but going to work one more year then his daughter is going to take over his practice. I'm pleased. She has one more year of residence to do.
When I weighed in at the doctor's office the scaled showed a 6 pound loss from the last visit. So I'm happy.
Need to go to Blytheville to run some errand.
Then when the back yard is shaded this afternoon I'm going to mow. I have really weird neighbors. I heard a lawnmower last night at 11.15 p.m. At first I thought it was a helicopter. But when I got up to look out the door I saw the neighbor across the street on his riding mower with the head lights on. I thought how ridiculous is that but I guess it beats the heat of the day.

Laura705 06-20-2013 02:04 PM

Michelle - Sorry you're not getting enough sleep!! :( I hope that ends soon, you definitely need your sleep or everything else starts to go to heck. Glad your boss is happy w/ your performance and that you don't have to attend many meetings!!! :) I agree - The House on the Rock is a fascinating place to visit! Annie might have to dig up some fishing spots for C. :D

diyana 06-20-2013 02:15 PM

Ceejay - After my parents passed away, I dreamt about them from time to time too. I still do occasionally. The dream you had about your mom sounds very nice, as was Annie's about her dad. :) Sorry to hear about your leg. Glad you got some medicine. Congrats on the 6 lb weight loss!! That's fantastic!! I used to have neighbors that would mow at all hours too. Weird. LOL

Laura - You're right about the fishing spots. The Wisconsin River (which runs through the Dells) has EXCELLENT fishing!! C and Annie just might have to try that out.

Laura705 06-20-2013 02:17 PM

Ceejay - Congrats on the weight loss!!! :carrot: :whoo: Mowing at 11 pm??!! That really is weird. And not very neighborly, I might add!!

diyana 06-20-2013 02:20 PM

I forgot to tell y'all about a bit of excitement I had yesterday. When I got home, I was so exhausted. My step-mom was out, so I just sat in the backyard and chatted with my step-brother. We left the screen door open so Santa could come in and out as he wanted. After awhile I realized he wasn't in the backyard, so I looked through the house calling him. He wasn't anywhere indoors. My step-brother checked the gates to the backyard...one was left open by my step-mother. I ALWAYS check the gates when I let Santa outside, except for yesterday afternoon. :tantrum: I don't care how tired I am...I have to be more careful. Anyway, Santa had gotten out and we didn't know how long he'd been gone. So my step-brother started off around the block in one direction and I went in the other. He eventually found Santa (thank God). Santa had gone to the end of the street and was playing with another dog. I was so relieved that Santa was found! It would've broken my heart if anything had happened to him. I have to be more careful about the gates from now on.

Morning all,
Having a fun time trying to cybertrack my DB2 who should have landed in Wellington NZ last night. Wellington has been having some atrocious weather and the flight got cancelled. We hadn't heard from him, but I just managed to find him or rather he found me on facebook a few minutes back.
I'll be back with personals when I get him sorted.

happy2bme 06-20-2013 10:05 PM

We have 2 new fur babies in our lives.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...ps1b54f276.jpg
This is Meadow. Meadow is somewhere between 5 to 7 years old - probably closer to 7. She has been living at the shelter for almost 3 years. No one wanted her because she is older I guess. She lived in a room with the younger cats and barely tolerated all this roughhousing. She prefers to be alone but tolerates Nina - mostly.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...ps3bbe2f1e.jpg
This is Nina. Nina is a 5 month old rambunctious kitten. She's a Siamese Lynx Point they say. She likes to talk and fart a lot. She's stinky right now - we must check into her diet. She is very loving and affectionate and is total high energy. I hope she calms down in a few months. Nina is DH's cat so he can tire her out

DH brought them home today - 5 minutes before I had to run to the Thrift Store. They are getting acclimated now, we have them in the lower level until our company leaves next week. Neither of them is fond of the big thunderstorms we are having right now. Meadow is hiding under the sofa, Nina is looking for someone to cuddle with.

I'm going to go play with them a bit - will be back shortly for personals.

happy2bme 06-21-2013 02:02 AM

Back again. Been a long and busy day. I spent a good hour and a half watering everything. It looked like it wanted to rain but sometimes all we get is dark clouds that pass us over. Things were dry and I had to work today and knew I wouldn't feel like watering when I got home. It looked like it wanted to rain all day long and then just as I was about to close the shop, the skies opened up as some really really dark clouds moved in. I got soaked going to the bank and was about to wait out the storm at the shop but then the rain let up a bit only to start up again 5 minutes later. Everything got plenty of water for a while. I'm sure my lettuces are beaten down. We'll see come morning. The popcorn shop opened up again. Stopped in on my way home. It's good - they are using the same recipes - but it will be an occasional treat for me - too much salt and kind of pricey. Came home and sat with the cats for a while. The older one has bonded to DH of course. The young one, she's up for a good time with anyone. Boy though does she stink. Gassy Lassy. She loves to cuddle and thinks my breasts are a perfect warm water bed. I was holding her and I could feel the rumbling in her tummy. Constantly. I tried to do some research on the Internet but it's quite conflicting and confusing. Many things point to a change in diet but she was that way at the shelter. The thing that makes the most sense is that she is a young kitten and like humans, their digestive system is still maturing. I hope this doesn't last too long - it's really awful. I'm getting a little concerned with guests about to arrive...

Shad - glad you found DB2 and he didn't get swallowed up in a typhoon or flung to the far parts of the Fiji Islands or something like that! Bummer that you have to wait on the new car. Guess that gives you time to make a proper goodbye to your current buggy.

Michelle - that sure was a close one with Santa. Perhaps being in daycare and the bark park, he is used to having playmates and just took it upon himself to go find an adventure! Glad no harm came, guess as you say, you must be extra vigilant. I hope you find an answer to your sleeplessness. That certainly is no fun when you have to be alert in the morning. We use Nyquil or ZZzQuil occasionally - but sometimes that interferes with other medications.

Ceejay - congrats on the weight loss. As for mowing at 11:15pm, I'd be soooo angry. Might be cooler but certainly it's dangerous if not outright rude to be keeping other people up. Oh well... takes all kinds right? Did you get to have a nice chat with your sisters?

Annie - glad you got a kick out of the birthday card. :D I'm also glad you had a peaceful dream about Dad. See, he doesn't want you to cry for him. I hope that left peace in your heart. My experience with Wisconsin Dells consists of the casino we went to a couple of times, the Mobil gas station we always gassed up at between here and Memphis - the huge one with the Dunkin Donuts attached to it. I can't remember ever staying there so I am at a loss for recommendations - sorry :o 2 things though you can depend on in Wisconsin - cold beer and hot fishing

Laura - ok, now I can add Pad Thai to the dishes I am missing up here! Actually, that one - hold the spice please - I think I could actually wrangle up here myself if I tried. Wow - I agree that's mighty ambitious to take on making car seat covers. You must really like to sew! You'll have to take pictures so we can see the finished result.

Mel - you'd better rest up and get better. TJ's is about to report a sudden drop in sales  Seriously - you know yourself best and I'm sure you would not pass up a shopping trip arbitrarily. Can someone else pick up what you need? Darn this red tape with the SS people  I hear that some doctors are starting to drop medicare patients also because it's just become too much of a hassle. Crazy, crazy, crazy!!

Sorry I did not get into more depth but I am sooooo tired right now. And I have a long 2 days ahead of me getting things ready around the house. Not panicking yet, but I will be busy. Be good everyone...

Goodnight to all.

Shad 06-21-2013 05:06 AM

Mel - just sent you an e-mail, but in case you don't see it I'll repeat it here.

DB2s flight is re scheduled for 7.00am tomorrow. I will have to pick him up at 4.30am. I should be home by 6.00am which is our normal speak time, but if I don't answer leave a message and I will get back to you.

TGIF FO SHO!!!

Whew who...I have a new grand nephew. My brother's son had their baby. Zachary Michael weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs 1.5 oz, 21" long. Born yesterday 6/20/13. Head full of dark hair. His momma is 6ft tall and his daddy is 6'4". This will be one big kid.

HAPPY...the new kitties are adoreable. I love the name Meadow. THey look quite a bit alike. I am so excited for you two! Congrats momma and DH kitty!! lol You can bet we are going to try to go fishing and probably eat cheese..haha.

SHADDIE...loved the doggy card, too cute. Sassy appreciates you including her in the mix. Thank you for the other card also, heartwarming.

MELLIE...hope things smooth out at work and you are feeling better.

CHELLE...that is such a sick feeling when you realize you are missing your doggie. Bella got out a couple of times but came back on her own to the front door before we even realized she was missing. Glad Santa is safe.

Hugs

happy2bme 06-21-2013 10:22 AM

Good morning ladies,

Rained all night - woke up to a lake out in the front yard. My cousin said something about 45 mph wind gusts today. That is not good - we have our first summer festival of the season on Main Street this weekend. Food and craft vendors and lots of outdoor activities. I think it's going to be a terrible weather weekend :(

The kitties are settling down. Thank God Nina stopped farting. I guess all the excitement of something new had her upset. She is calming down a bit too - such a cuddler that one is. Meadow is not so fearful and is starting to relax too - she will come to me which is good. I think both are accepting us and their new home. We are keeping them in the lower level for the time being, until our company leaves next weekend as one of the kids has allergy problems. The cats sit at the top of the stairs right next to the door - I'm sure once we let them in the main house they will go nuts - lots of stairs, height and light for them.

Annie - congratulations on the new grand nephew. Perhaps yours and Michelle's can get together for a play date! 9 pounds - eh? That's one little bruiser - glad I didn't have to pass that! :yikes: I agree with the others on making sure you schedule a ride on the Ducks at the Dells. It's a pretty neat experience.

Mel and Shad - hope you get your loved ones off safe and sound and then meet up for a good chat.

Well my coffee cup is empty so that means it's time to get back to working on the house. Have a good weekend everyone and hello to the rest of the chicks

Laura705 06-21-2013 12:08 PM

Morning all. TGIF!!

Michelle – I’m so glad Santa wasn’t far away after she ran out of the yard! Yep, more vigilance on checking the gates. I always get a bit of momentary nervousness when I look out in the yard and don’t see the dog right away. There are places out of sight, which include the gates and I worry that maybe the electric meter reader has come and gone and left the gate unlatched.

Happy – Awww, kittens. This came out of the blue!! So – they are siblings?? They sure look like it. I hope you find the answer to the gas issue. Glad they’re settling in okay. Isn’t it just typical that after you spend all that time watering it ends up raining? Oh well, everything’s had a really good soak now. I have to check the forecast, but I know my garden needs watering. I usually end up watering after work, even though I know early day is better…I hope the rain you get doesn’t ruin the festivals in town. Yeh, I’m sure you could be successful making Pad Thai at home. I’ve never tried making that dishi, but I did make a really tasty Thai basil chicken dish not too long ago. I need to get those ingredients on the shopping list because I want to make it again soon.

The car seat cover isn’t a big deal - it’s not going to be fitted to the entire seat for a permanent thing, it’s intended to be easily pulled on and off after my workouts, and easily washable. I get so sweaty, sitting directly on the car seat would be nasty. The seats are leather and easily washable, but still…eeewwww. :D I will try to remember to take before and after photos. My “before” is what I did with the elastic straps (that’s not working for me). The “after” will be a sleeve-type thing using some fuschia/hot pink colored cotton spandex I have left over from making a pair of exercise leggings many years ago – the stretchiness is a plus! I have to sew together enough of the big scraps to make a piece large enough for my project. This isn’t a precision kind of project so not much skill is required. My sewing skills are a bit beyond beginner, but they lack in my ability to produce neat, precise finishes, be it on machine- or hand-stitched items.

Hi Shad!! Hi Mel! Hi Ceejay!!

Annie - He will be a big kid??? – He already is a big kid!!! Congrats auntie!

==

I considered skipping jazzercise last night, but ended up going anyway – I always feel good afterwards.

Bf hasn’t gotten the new tires on my bike yet, so I walked to the train this morning. Gonna be a hot day today. Maybe bf will pick me up from the train, otherwise my walk home will be at a very leisurely pace.

Nothing on the weekend calendar except Jazzercise Saturday morning. Weather permitting, I want to finish the pruning and do the trimming on the shrubs that aren’t blooming. There are three blooming shrubs that the bumble bees are thoroughly enjoying, so I will leave those alone until the blooms are done. So what if they are overgrown and look like one giant shrub?

I also want to get my slacks hemmed and get going on my car seat cover project. And do some cooking & shopping.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Good morning ladies -

Well, it's still morning here anyway, though not for much longer. I am noticing online that the Milwaukee area is getting hit with some doozy storms today. I hope my Midwestern Worldly sisters aren't getting any inclement weather.

I had a pretty good night's sleep night before last, and I slept really well last night, despite not falling asleep until after 10.

Santa and I are home today. I'm working, he's relaxing. We go to obedience training this evening. Tomorrow morning, a woman I met who breeds Schnauzers and grooms her own is going to teach me how to groom Santa. Tomorrow night, I'm having a few friends over to play cards.

On Sunday I might go to an afternoon BBQ party, or I might just relax if I'm not feeling up to driving an hour each way to get there.

==================================
Happy - As I said on FB, your kitties are adorable. Absolutely beautiful!! Funny about the farting cat...I can say that because I can't smell it from so far away! That seems to always happen in the midwest...you water everything REALLY well, and then you get a torrential rain storm later in the day. Here in CA it's easier. You have to water nearly daily because it almost never rains from April/May 'till October. I wonder if your older cat has bonded with your DH because he was home with her after he brought her home, while you had to go to work. I'm sure the guests will be okay with the Gassy Lassy. She's so adorable, you just have to love her. As for my Santa, yes, I have to be extra vigilant. I just now put him out and I went out with him to check the gates since both my step-mother and step-brother have been going from the front yard to back yard all morning. The gates were shut tight, but the door from the backyard to the garage was wide open, as was the overhead garage door. I shut the door tight, and will just have to check it all the time. Later, I'll sit outside and do my work and keep close tabs on Santa while we're out there. Thanks for the tip on ZzzQuil. I bought some Unisom and that helps. I just read your recent post...I'm glad Nina has stopped farting.

Shad - I'm so glad you found your brother. I hope everything is okay and that you both get to NZ safely. I hope you and Mel are able to talk soon. I definitely think the world needs the kind of "righting" that only a long convo between the two of you can take care of.

Annie - Congrats on your new grand-nephew!! I agree with Laura...he is ALREADY a big kid...and will just keep on getting bigger! I hope all are doing well.

Mel - Have a good chat with Shad.

Laura - Good idea for making easy on and off seat covers to keep the sweat off the leather. Wow! You made leggings?! That stretchy kind of material is hard to sew!!!Good for you for not skipping Jazzercise. I miss post-workout endorphins. I'll probably sign up for the gym this weekend. Sounds like you've got quite a nice weekend planned. Have fun!! I hope the weather cooperates for you.

Back to work for me.

Much love,

MELODY525 06-21-2013 04:17 PM

shad......i'm in the mainternance room.
everyone left already and we sprung a leak in the electrical room.
I cannot believe this happened.
I will try again tomorrow.
so very sorry for this mess.

Shad 06-21-2013 05:13 PM

Morning all,

First Mel, you can't ring me tomorrow. I won't be here. DS2 is picking me up at 6.00am to take me to the airport. So if you want to ring, better make it when you have plugged the leak! or it will wait until I get back.

Happy - nice kitties. Yes the young ones can smell. That one of the DS2's was pretty high most of the time. I hope he settles down as he gets older. I keep telling him it is because he and J give it fresh ordinary milk.

Ceejay - congratulations on the weight loss. Awesome

Laura - Looking forward to seeing pictures of these car seat covers. Sounds interesting. I may have to have some for my new car as well.

Michelle - Glad you found Santa. Always a worry when they go missing. Thing that gets me is that when you are wound up to fever pitch trying to find them, they come sauntering in with an innocent expression as if to say whatever is the matter mum?

Annie - another great nephew. How wonderful. Our families are getting bigger.

Anyway - better get going and finish cleaning out my room. I've moved the cot in there, but need to get behind the chest of drawers and the bookcase and clean out the dust and spiders and whatever else lives behind. Might even find some cash. Seems that the bro's flight has closed. They are boarding. He is going. Hallelujah.

ceejay52 06-21-2013 09:17 PM

Happy
The kittens are adorable. Did you get them at the Humane Society or did they just show up at your door step? You must have gotten a doozy of a rain storm to have the yard flooded.

Michelle
Glad you are finally getting some rest. Your week end sounds like fun.

Laura
Once you make Jazzercise a habit it will not be hard to go every day. You are doing well with the class.

Shad
Safe travels. Did you and Mel get to talk?

Annie
Conggrats on the new g-nephew.

Mel
 Hope you get the problem solved.

----------------
My day started bright and early at 6.45 a.m. Didn't want to get up but I did.
Took out the garbage and talked to the neighbor for just a little bit.
about 9.30 the girls rang the door bell. They asked for a rid e and I told them politely that I'm not giving any more rides.

Got out and finished the yard today. Should have waited as it was hot and muggy. I only had the front and side yard to do but it took me the whole afternoon.

It's hit me that I'm tired.

diyana 06-21-2013 11:11 PM

Ceejay - I hope you're getting some needed rest. I am SO proud of you, girlfriend, for standing up to the girls. You had much too much to do to give them a ride anywhere. Good on ya' for saying No.

MELODY525 06-22-2013 07:56 AM

I WOKE LATE. LONG NIGHT AND ALARMS ON TOP OF EVERYTHING.
MEETING THE PLUMBER IN A FEW MINUTES.
HE CALLED AND IS ON HIS WAY BACK.
WAS A PUMP LEAK LAST NIGHT. BIGGISH JOB.
BUT THEN WHEN HE TURNED EVERYTHING BACK ON...ANOTHER PIPE LEAK.
IT HAPPENS WITH THE RETURN OF PRESSURE.
WHAT A FRASSING MESS.
GOT HOME AROUND 10:30 AND CRASHED.
HE JUST WOKE ME WITH HIS CALL:rofl:
SEE YA LATER OR TOMORROW. I AM BUSHED.

HAVE A HAPPY & SAFE WEEKEND.
SHAD....SAFE TRAVELS AND KISS SOPHIA!!

annie175 06-22-2013 08:32 AM

Good Saturday Morning/Eve.....

My knees are healing nicely, sufficiently scabbed over from the fall last weekend in the mall parking lot. Ouchie...but recovering. I have not been stable since bariatric surgery. Believe it or not...this is a side effect...and now that I am 35 lbs up, yes 35, fat and unhappy, is it all worth it??????? I will say yes, beats being 165 up. Anyway, I am going to try this Advocare diet. Google it. It is a 24 day diet. Hope to make progress. Won't start for about a week, have to wait on product.

Lots to do today...clean the house...can't stand it anymore, cut the grass and laundry. I would say I need a maid but how the heck would I get any exercise? Day is cut out for me....also have to weed garden. Have jalapenos, zucchini, green peppers, cherry tomatos and reg tomatos all coming on. Bout the size of a quarter. None ready for harvesting. Basil and lettuces are ready for harvesting.

Been up since 3 am. Watched a bizarre movie with Kate Winslet called Little Children. Do not recommend it, it is just too weird and about cheating on your spouse. Bleh, not much to chose from at 3 am. Sass and I dognapped. Sis said if Sass does not quit rolling in her own poo (next to the rabbit poo) she is not going to keep her anymore. This is the third time she has had to bathe her for that. Don't really blame her, but will have to look into doggy daycare.

Best get on with this day...lots to do and the time just gets away from me...have to do the bank thing this morning first.

Hugs

happy2bme 06-22-2013 10:26 AM

Good morning ladies,

Making progress getting the house ready for guests. I still have a lot to do but I am fine, no stress yet. Hoping to make the bbq dinner tonight at the casino as a reward for all our hard work. It's worth having guests just to give the place a deep clean and declutter  I just have to do more laundry than I usually would (to freshen up the linens) and I'm hoping with all the rain we got that I won't be overloading the septic system. Trying to stagger it out. The cats are doing fine - getting used to their new home. Nina is a delight - she is the cuddly kitten. We have discovered that wet food seems to be the source of the gas problem so she's on dry for the time being. I have to feed the older one separately - she's mostly a sauce licker when it comes to wet food. My company should be here tomorrow afternoon - if I know my SIL they will be leaving at 6am. Good thing I've been going to bed earlier exhausted and getting up early too.

Shad - safe travels and enjoy your trip. Hopefully you got the DB off just fine also. Will be fun to have S for an extended visit as well as the family. Did you find any cash while you were cleaning?

Mel - sorry you could not hook up with Shad - emergency is the code word of the day. Hopefully the pipe leaks will stop at 2. That's part of the problem with an old building that is heavily stressed. Tell people cooking and bathing only once a day

Annie - ouch on the knees. I did not know that wobbliness could be an after effect. That's scary as I am trippy as it is :dizzy: You sure are a big pile of boo boos lately. Hope C is kissing them and making them all better. How is the toe doing? My greens are all doing well in the garden - have been harvesting spinach, lettuce, arugula and herbs all along. Yum, in fact I have to go do another cutting if the rain will let up. Baby beans, yellow squash, peas and tomatoes are also coming in but I only have flowers on one of my cucumber plants - and that's a special hybrid one. Good luck with the new eating plan - is that similar to what you might have eaten after surgery? Why do you think Sassy is rolling in the poo? I can't say I blame Sissy for complaining. I take it that Sassy will get herself into too much trouble if left alone during the day?

Ceejay - I also applaud you for telling the neighbor girls no to a ride. They all took serious advantage of your good nature. Give 'em an inch and you will be their personal slave  Yes, I got the cats from the Humane Society - with so many unwanted animals I think that's the way to go. Even if what you are looking for isn't there at the moment, wait a bit - just like the Thrift store, something new and interesting is always turning up :D So the heat is back in town for you? Be careful with the yard work - it's easy to get overwhelmed out there. I used to fill a bucket with cold water and add ice to it - DH had a towel he would dip in there and put on his neck to cool off. He said he is not missing the southern summers at all

Michelle - let us know how the obedience training goes - I'm sure Santa will be a willing participant. And how nice that someone will teach you how to groom him. Sounds like your life is so much fuller now - what was it again that was the appeal in the Midwest? I mean, for us at this part of our lives, I totally get and appreciate what we have here but you seem to have a much better social live now - which I would think would be great all around. Anyway I'm glad you are having fun in the California sun :D Glad to hear you are doing well at work in spite of having so much to learn - that's reassuring.

Laura - how is the car seat project coming along? I understand what you are saying about the sweating. When we'd go to the gym DH would just lay a big beach towel on the car seat and clip it with a (paper) binder clip to hold it in place  I never wanted him to use my car at the gym because I have cloth seats and his car has leather seats  I look forward to a pic of your finished project. No, the cats are not siblings - far from it but they do look somewhat similar in coloring. Light color cats that match our carpeting - good thing ;) Actually we'd been pondering cats for a while - I was just hesitant because though we don't travel much, DH is a give them extra water and food and leave them a few days and I'm a what if something happened let's board them instead kind of person. It was a weak moment and we caved  Good luck with the lawn work this weekend. I understand what you are talking about - one large bush or 3 manicured ones??? Either will look fine but I agree I'd not be messing with the bees right now.

Ok, coffee is finished - I have lots to do so better get on it. Have a good weekend all - longest day of the year for us - shortest for Shad - make the most of it no matter what you chose to do!

ceejay52 06-22-2013 10:32 AM

Thought I posted last night but evidently not.

Happy
I checked the kitten on FB they are really cut. Did they adopt you or vise versa.

Laura
Good for you in keeping up with the Jazzercise class. My doctor informed me to do more. exercise. ugh.

Shad
Safe travels.

Michelle
You do sound more relaxed since you moved to Ca. I'm not sure I'd get any thing done if I worked from home. Even Santa sounds more relaxed.

Mel
Springing a leak in the electrical room is not very safe. Be careful. Hope today brings you some rest and relaxation.

Annie
Wow, that g-nephew is already half grown.

______________
Got the rest of the yard work done yesterday and I'm pleased. Makes me good to do something and get to be outside. Talked to my neighbor a bit yesterday morning. She mentioned the fact the she was woman enough to apologize if the need arose and I said I was too, but right now I have nothing to apologize for and changed the subject.

The girls down the street came down wanting a ride. I decided there is no need of me putting a do not disturb sign on the door just for them. Of course they asked for a ride and I politely told them I'm not giving rides anymore. They went next door not sure if she gave them one or not.

Also yesterday morning a huge truck pulled up out front and started pulling a long hose to the apartments next door. Then I hear a commotion up in my attic so I went to investigate. The guys told me they were spraying in insulation, instructions from the landlord. My rent may go up, but the air and heat will stay inside.

My doctor called last night to tell me the blood work results. Told me my cholesterol had elevated some and wanted me to do more exercise. I can do that with the yard work. I'll have to put the bike on minutes only from now on cause when that mileage starts to accumulate I get tired more quickly. Guess it's physiological.
It's also back to healthy eating, protein, veggie and fruit.
Need to get started for the day.

OOPs guess I did post. Sorry.

Shad 06-22-2013 02:51 PM

Morning all,
Might be my last post for a while since I have no idea of the living arrangements for the next 8 days. All going well I am back in Australia on 1st July around 6.00pm.
Hoping to take some good photos, but it is winter over here and in NZ that doesn't always mean blue skies, cool temps and sunshine. It could be snowing.

Speaking of snowing, I went shopping for some warm clothes yesterday. Now I have put on a little weight, but still fit my size 16's here at home. Off I went to Target and I found a couple of jackets that I liked so picked up a 16 and an 18 and some jeans - same story. Not one of the 5 items would even do up. I see they have devalued our sizing again. I spoke to the salesperson in the store and said that I didn't believe the labelling was right. Her reply was (and I quote) that 'that particular label was a small fit because it was aimed at the young people but this should be okay'. Excuse me - a 16 is still a 16 is it not? It might be tight because the young like to have tight fitting stuff that shows all the lumps and rolls but it should still fit, not be 2 sizes to small. And if that is the case, why doesn't the 18 fit a size 16 body. Bloody made in China!

Anyway with that rant, I'm off before the DS2 gets here to cart me away from all this. I'll try to get back if I end up staying at my sisters place. Who knows what form of technology the niece and geeky husband will have. Be good or be careful. Annie, knees are meant to lock the legs in place. Give up trying to ruin them will ya.

Evening Worldlies.

Shaddie- Safe travels home. Enjoy the visit with family and the sis's bday celebration. The sizing is crazy - very inconsistent between brands. Interesting that you found the sizes fitting smaller. I thought with vanity sizing the size stayed the same but the fit got larger. Anyway, with my dislike of shopping, it makes it harder to shop online. Better to carry armfuls of clothes to the fitting room and see right away what fits.

Happy - Hope you got to the bbq at the casino. You're absolutely right about having company/guests - great time to get the deep cleaning done. It was rainy this morning and muggy this afternoon. I pulled some weeds in the veg garden and adjacent flower bed and that was it. Not very motivated at the moment.

Mel - Sorry there's been so much trouble in the building w/ plumbing and alarms. :( I hope things are quieter tonight and you get some rest.

Michelle - Hope you're having a good weekend with Santa and your friends. How did obedience class go?? It's so great you'll get Schnauzer-grooming lessons from that woman you met!

Ceejay - Good for you not giving the neighbor girls rides. I'm hot, sweaty and tired just reading about you mowing the lawn in the heat!! But it's good exercise!!! Sorry about the cholesterol results - have to find a type of exercise you don't mind doing, not an easy thing. Do you have the bike set up in front of the tv??

Annie - Glad you knees are healing. Good luck on the Advocare plan. I should have planted some lettuces earlier in the season - we sure had enough cool weather. Now we've got this hot muggy crap that I can't stand. But maybe my tomatoes will get going now!
==

So I skipped Jazzercise this morning because I didn't have any clean bottoms to wear (yoga pants, etc.). :o I ended up mostly lazing the morning away except for the weeding out back. Also did some laundry (yes, clean exercise bottoms now!). Puttered around mostly. Finally hemmed my slacks - they don't look so hot. We'll see how they look when I press the hems. I did them by machine, but I might have to re-do them by hand. We'll see. Who really gets a close look at them, all the way down by the ground, hahaha. :D

Took the "before" photos of my towel/car seat cover. Prolly gonna work on the re-do tonight.

We're going to get an ice cream cone and perhaps go to the cruise night at the train station, so I better get my photos posted and skedaddle.

Re the photos, shots of front and back. The back shows the elastic, which I didn't have a problem with until recently. Now I have a heck of a time putting it on and taking it off, hence the redo for something that's hopefully easier to deal with. Took measurements today, ready to get busy on this.

Morning girls,

By now the "bus" has left southern WI and is headed north. I hope they don't run into bad weather on the trip up - doesn't look that great out there. I am still in cleaning frenzy but I think I'll manage to get as much as I "need" to done. Never enough time no matter how well you plan.

Love the graphic Mel - take care of those seniors. You could use a little cooling breeze it sounds like. How was the shepards pie?

What a great Budweiser towel Laura! No wonder you took it for your own. Seat covers look great. I am amazed at your skills!

Safe travels Shad - have a great trip. As for Target I have always found their clothes to run small - really small. Seems like their clothing is sized to fit tall, slim Asian women. Walmart used to be like that but got more realistic.

Ceejay - you are right, the insulation will help a lot with the heating and cooling. I think that's wise to retire the Do Not Disturb sign - just keep saying no and the girls will get the message.

Hi's to the rest of the Worldlies - time to get cracking again. I probably won't post much either for the next week. Will be on the quieter side here. Have a good one everybody.
