Good morning
It's another beautiful day. I'm making plans to go to Paragould for another uncles get together at 11.30, but I am planning on coming back home. The boys were inching their way back to my part of the yard. So I went out and told them myself that they were not welcome here. The neighbors grandson got a bit huffy with me. But that's okay. If they don't give him limitations I will. I've notice he's helped himself to some bricks and other things I had in the yard to help hold down the basketball goal. I'll get those today and put them in the shed. Guess that's where they should have been in the first place. We're under a flash flood watch for tonight and tomorrow. I'm a wimp when it comes to weather these days. |
Hello Worldlies!
Quick pop in to say hello. Did a good jazzercise class this morning, then a shower, & back out again. Had too little for lunch yesterday & popped over to Walgreens next door to our bldg. They had a good sale on jerky, so I tried. Sure, a lot of sodium, but the chewiness iworked for me. So today I went back & bought two more pkgs. for future snacks. Then I stopped at the thrift shop before my hair appointment. Bought a colorful beach towel for $3.50 since I don't have one of my own. (I borrowed my sis's when I was a teen & never returned it to her. It's a thin towel, but what's cool about it is that the design is a giant can of Budweiser beer on it. Vintage 70's, lol. Someday I will return it to her in the form of a gag gift. :D) Ok, waiting for my color to set, then comes my cut - nothing new or different planned. Tonight will be the Blackhawks game on the telly. Personals tomorrow, have a good day everyone! :flow1: |
Sunday and I had better make this short since I have a ton of stuff to finish off today. Always seems that when I am busy I should never sit down with a cup of tea and biscuit since I always seem to end up dozing off and then nothing gets done.
Today I need to clean out the car and assemble the new toy - which is a mobile ladder scaffold thingy - I bought to be able to trim up the top of the hedge without having to get up and down and moving the ladder. This way I can trim up about 6 foot of hedge without having to move the thing. And it is on lockable wheels so I don't have to pick it up to move it either. So that is to be put together today as well. Yesterday I washed all the cot bed linen and got it dried, so making little S's bed is part of todays work as well. Since it is not blowing like crazy today as it did yesterday, I might get to poison some of the weeds down the side of the house. These have come from next door - the neighbour there seems to think that the grass only needs to be mowed when it is so high that you lose the dog in it. Most of my neighbours are pretty good even if they are not gardeners, but this one has no interest in a yard whatsoever and should have bought an apartment on the twelfth floor of a 40 storey block. Not much chance of much going in the tiles or around the hot tub there. This cat is about to drive me crazy. She had her breakfast, went down the hall and out the bedroom sliding door and walked down the back of the house and sat at the dining room door waiting to be let in. No. Not. Going. To. Happen...... Happy - Yes I get the font thing. Normally only on this site and it seems to depend on where I have the cursor arrow at the time and whether I am scrolling up and down the page. Ctrl + 0 will take it back to 100%. That's zero not o. Ctrl + and Ctrl- zoom in or out. Don't know whether I hit something that puts those combinations together or not but it sure happens often. Ceejay - hope the flash floods don't come your way Laura - Watch that jerky. You may hold water after eating that stuff. Glad you had a good exercise class Okay - shower time, then into it. No time for sitting around today. |

Happy Sunday everyone -
Happy Father's Day although except for DH, all the men are gone in my life. No more living grandpas, dads, brothers, or uncles. :( Yesterday was an interesting day. It was overcast and at time spitting moisture so not the best of days weather wise. The mosquitoes were ferocious as usual. The event was held at a local greenhouse - she has gorgeous flowers - her begonias literally glowed they were so fiery. They had a couple of workshops - one making a serving tray out of a giant rhubarb leaf, another making imprints of flowers onto fabric using a mallet -however that one took some extra embellishments with markers or paints - but still, an interesting concept. There was another workshop in which people were doing something with plain glass bottles and vases but I wasn't able to stick around enough to see the finished product. My cousin's wife took a class on painting flowers on glass bottles and she was actually very good at it. There were a couple of vendors there with handcrafted goods. I got a very interesting vase which makes it quite easy for flower arrangements when you are not adept (like me) at arranging flowers. I will have to see if I can snip some of my flowers and will post a picture for you. The animal photographer I worked with was just the sweetest, nicest girl ever. She was born in the town we were working in, then moved south to go to college and recently moved to a neighboring state to the "big cities". She really has a flair for photography and animals. We had 9 dogs and someone was thinking of bringing their horse over after my shift. She said one year someone brought both their dog AND their pet parrot. The bird was a beautiful green. It was fun, except for the mosquitoes I really enjoyed it. On the way home I stopped at a local gift shop in town I had meant to visit but never did and also picked up a few groceries from the small store there. Got home and DH said he had a taste for Chinese food which I am always up for. So the steaks will wait until today and we had a nice take out dinner yesterday. Took a nap afterwards and watched some tv and had a quiet night. We got some rain but not enough perhaps for the garden so I'll go out and check and harvest some arugula for a salad tonight. It's supposed to be rather chilly again tonight - I am really concerned that I won't be getting much in the way of cucumbers or tomatoes out of my garden this year. :( Mel - I hope you get the relief you need soon. Rest up as you know best and we will be missing you in the mean time. Where's Igor with a gentle back rub when you need him? Shad - we have one of those scaffold type ladders too. Very handy it is. Especially when you can walk side to side and not have to keep stretching precariously and moving the ladder. Be careful though. Sounds as if Miss S is going to be staying with you during her visit. How long are they in for? Is there room for DS and his partner or is it just you and the baby? Miss Sunday will no doubt be displeased that yet another intruder is in "her" house. Thank you for validating that you also have the problem with the font size. I really thought it was me except for the fact that it only happens on this site. Boo on the neighbor who ignores their lawn. We had neighbors like that in TN. Was a young couple who loved to spend their weekends away from the house doing outdoor things like camping and kayaking and the like. I never understood why they bought a house since they had no interest at all in taking care of it. DH was super frustrated since their front lawn quickly went to weeds, the seeds of which would always blow downhill and infest the lawn he worked so hard to keep decent - not perfect but grass filled. Then those people sold out to another young couple - the wife was a very unfriendly, snooty princess who spent her days laying out by the pool while the guy mowed the lawn twice and then neglected it just like his predecessor. Which was quite frustrating for us having sunk a lot of money into making our house prim and pristine and then having the house next door look like an abandoned lot. I guess mowing the lawn is for old folks  Laura - my former co-worker's husband would make what she said was awesome deer jerky. I never did get to try any. He also would get a beef roast and make jerky - but I didn't get any of that either, will just have to take her word for it. DH had some deer jerky that one of my cousin's friend's made - he said it was really, really good - would love to know how he made it but this guy is VERY secretive about most aspects of his life so that's a no go. D said it's not hard to make it and since you are making it for yourself, you don't have to put in all the salt and preservatives that you would if making it commercially for extended shelf life. I imagine it must be similar to fruit leathers which were popular several years back. Most of that stuff has a smoke flavoring which for some reason gives me really bad reflux so I don't eat that stuff. Did the Hawks win last night? Ceejay - I hope the neighbor boys don't give you any trouble. After all you suffer through I'll be you'll be looking for a quiet place with your sister. It's one of the reasons we like our place as much as we do. Undeveloped land on one side of us, 100 acres of undeveloped forest across the road and we only have one neighbor to the side - a nice guy with teenaged girls but we have a fairly thick pine tree border between us so it feels quite like we are by ourselves. No neighbor's screaming young kids, no having to look at people who don't want to mow their lawns, no bouncing balls in the yard, no yards with abandoned junk cars littering the property - it's HEAVENLY ;) Michelle - sounds like you had a lovely time with Santa. California sure is agreeing with you - seemed like you worked non stop in WI and barely had any time for recreation. At least you can enjoy the sun and the sand! Santa seems to be making the adjustment well also. What's Annie up to? Lemme guess - outside in the garden??? Take good care of your ouchie toe there woman!!!! Ok, let me get off the computer and accomplish something useful today. I think I'll try my hand at the dog biscuits for the Humane Society too. I'll pass along the recipe if anyone is interested - all natural ingredients - we could eat them too although they are a bit hard on the human teeth :D |
oh and one other thing I was going to say... Yesterday at the photography session customers had to leave their name, address and contact info. One guy came in with a beautiful malamute dog. After he left I glanced at his address. When we were house hunting up here, we were very interested in 2 houses. After much discussion we opted for the house we have now. That guy with the dog was the one who bought the other house we liked - and looked at 3 times - we were that interested in it. I was struck by how sometimes your life passes through another person's - sometimes you are aware, sometimes not. Just like a person walking into the thrift store dropping off a donation turned out to be a high school classmate, and one of her most favorite students is my next door neighbor. Then again too there was the person I saw at the event yesterday whom I worked with for 6 months who acted like that was the first time we had ever met when I said hello to her. How quickly they forget you when you stop volunteering - or was it just being insincere when they gushed over you while you were there???

So far so good today. The grandkids haven't been around this week end. I did see a couple of friends come by the house going next door but they have left. It's supposed to rain this week so I'm praying that they will not be here. And yes I'm looking forward to the peacefulness at my sis's. Laura Good job on the exercise class yesterday. What's ya doing today? Mel  to you my friend. It's so good that you have a doctor that still makes house calls. I hope you get some relief soon. Shad When is Sophia coming or is she already there? Is her mom and dad staying also. What a treat this will be. I'm missing out on both of my sister's grand children. ----- It's still quiet this morning. Looking like rain but I haven't checked the weather map. I've been food shopping bought enough supplies for a couple of days. |
Mel
I'm like you can't eat big dinners any more. And congrats on that three pound loss. Makes me want to try again. |
Hi Ladies...
Such a hard, weird, emotional Father's day for me. Thank God we went to Curtis' parents house last night and spent the day there. We had a cook out today. I took homemade slaw, baked beans, cheesy mashed potatos, and his dad's fav...braunschweiger ball. His dad was in heaven. All and all it was a good day, however I noticed on the way home that I missed 4 calls from sissy. Called her and she was on her way to emergency at hospital...we beelined it to the hospital, that was the longest hour drive of my life. Come to find out, she is fine, was just experiencing the remainder of the miscarriage...i.e. severe cramps and heavy bleeding, nothing else wrong, as they feared tubal pregnancy. She is fine. At home resting. Ready to resume life...look forward and not back. Crap I am so glad I only have two kids. They make me crazy with worry. Home now...Sassy completely worn out, C out fishing on our pond, me just hangin. Sass has to have tear duct flushing on Tuesday. Her left eye will not stop watering and is so puffy. Finally the Vet figured out it was her tear duct and not infection, only about 250 bucks later. The surgery will be about 150. I cannot believe I spend so much on this lil critter....but I love her so. Have a great evening/morning... loves. |
Evening all.
Just going to be short tonight. I'm running well behind. I went into town today to test drive the Audi A3 and then talked money to the guy. I knew I wasn't going to get much for a trade in of my old car, and I didn't but they came up with a figure that gave me a good discount and then knocked off another $500 when I mentioned that I was going off to test drive the Mercedes. Perhaps I should have mentioned some other things I was going to test drive as well. Anyway I have bought my new car. Now I will have to think about going back to work to earn some money. Oh joy. Forget who asked, but Sophia and her Mum and Dad will be coming up on the 4th of July and going home on 14th July and yes they are staying with me. I am off to NZ on 23rd June and back on 1st July. Oh yes and Happy you asked about carrots being ready. Well to be honest I really don't know. I generally start to pull them when the top of the root starts pushing above the ground. The young ones are probably more delicious that the mature ones IMO. So that's about it for today. I will be back with personals tomorrow morning. It's cold and it's late. I'm off to warmer places. The cat is already there. |
:cofdate: GOOD MORNING WORLDY CHICKS
ON MY WAY TO THE OFFICE. SOME EXPLAINING TO DO WITH MAINTENANCE. THEN I AM FREE TO LEAVE. NOT PUSHING MYSELF THIS WEEK. Richie's DAUGHTER IS DUE TODAY. THE SON IS STAYING HOME FOR NOW. LOTS OF DISAPPOINTMENT GOING AROUND. I AM STAYING OUT OF IT. NO DRAMA ALLOWED IN HERE.....LOL HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY. SHAD...IT WAS ME THAT ASKED ABOUT DATES. HOW IS THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON MY TIME?? GOING TO ASK JEN TO TAKE BOTH PHONES IF IT IS & SHE IS STILL HOME. IF NOT....SIGNS CAN GO ON THE DOORS! I AM GLAD YOU GOT A GOOD CAR DEAL!! CONGRATS AND ENJOY THE NEW SMELL!!:scooter: CEEJAY....HOW ARE THE UNCLES DOING. I THINK IT'S GREAT THAT YOU STILL MEET WITH THEM. HOPE THE STORMS PASSED YOU BY. ANNIE.....I AM GLAD SISSY IS DOING OK. BUT YOU ARE BOTH GOING THRU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW. WISHING HER A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND HOPE SHE RESTS. BETWEEN ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED YOU'VE DONE A GREAT JOB. STAY STRONG LADY. THURSDAY IS ANOTHER TJ's SHOPPING TRIP.....GUESS WHO IS GOING? THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOU GIFTS. |
I'd been concerned about Sissy, Annie. Do they not do D and C's any more for miscarriages. Just curious. Medical science changes every day.
Glad she's okay. Mel Don't blame you for not wanting the drama. I didn't want any today either. But first thing we've had to drain another tank for yet another inspection. Hope this is the last one for this year. Shad Did you buy the Mercedes or the Audi3? -------------------- Gotta go see if I can get my computer to come on. I'd like to get things done before all this rain comes through. |
Morning all. Running late today, I missed my usual train. I'll try to get back later to post.

Good Monday morning everyone!
Santa and I went to the dog park on Saturday. (Attached is a picture.) We met up with a group of people who all have Westies. There were probably 15 or 20 Westies. And there were also more than a dozen French bulldogs, including one that was just 12 weeks old...what a cutie! Several pugs. A few Boston Terriers and a few Schnauzers. And lots of other breeds. All in all nearly 50 dogs 20 lbs and under! There was much barking, chasing and frollicking! Of course there were big dogs in the big dog section of the dog park...but there was so much going on in the little dog section that I really didn't notice. LOL We were at the park roughly 4 hours! When we got home, we both took a nap! I also learned that the last Sunday of each month is Schnauzer meetup at the park...so that's on my calendar! And after talking with some of the Schnauzer parents there, I got the recommendation for a good groomer in the area...and also learned that most of them groom their own, so I will probably invest in a good clipper and give that a try. :) I'll post more later...gotta get some more work done. Much love, |
Afternoon all.
Michelle – Sounds like a great day for you and Santa at the dog park. So great they have a separate area for little dogs, and a special meet-up for Schnauzers! Nice. Love the photo of you and Santa! How did the obedience class go?? Ceejay – Hope this is the last tank inspection for a while. Mel – You are getting out and about – is your back feeling better now? Or did the doc give you some meds to knock out the pain? What ages are Richie’s kids now? I’m not surprised at least one isn’t visiting right now, as they get older they just want to be with their friends. Enjoy your TJ's trip. My Mon./Thurs. jazzercise class is very close to a Trader Joe’s store, so I will probably start going there after class every so often because it’ll be convenient from the perspective that I won’t have to make a special trip to the other location. The one negative about going after class is that I’m usually totally wet with sweat and I’m not all that comfortable & presentable at that point…but I’ll get over it. Congrats on the weight loss! Just continue to keep away from the fridge! Shad – Congrats on your new car! Enjoy that new car smell! Less than a week until your trip – you must be looking forward to going home. Re the ladder - bf and I have never bought anything more than a 6-foot ladder for our ranch home, but we have occasionally talked about getting an extension ladder. And then we start saying we should get one of those that can be used like a scaffold as well…and we never get any further than that. Not sure why we don’t just borrow from a neighbor for the rare occasion when we need to get on the roof. The gutter cover system we’ve had since ’08 or ‘09 is working out nicely (no gutter cleaning!), and we probably won’t hang anymore strings of lights on the gutters for the holidays since we decided last year to use colored flood lights to light up the façade. Good thing – the less that needs to go in the garage, the better. Annie – I’m sure your first Father’s Day without your dad was so difficult for you, and it's awful it ended with a medical emergency!! Sorry to hear Sis ended up in the ER, but thank goodness she’s okay - a tubal pregnancy would be very serious. Awww, poor Sassy with her tear duct. Well, finally the vet figures it out…but at least he did. I hope that resolves it all. Happy – Sounds like you had a good day doing the volunteer thing (except for the skeeters). I understand the need for privacy and some peace and solitude, but you sure went a long ways to get it! I’d like that too, but I think I’m just too citified to want to worry about the wild critters. And being out of cell phone and cable tv range, hahaha. I’m sure you know by now that the Stanley Cup Hawks-Bruins series is tied at 1-all. Tonight’s game 3. I’m not sure I’m up to watching these games – very nerve-wracking for me. Re jerky – I think that’s one of those things that a food dehydrator is used for. I’ve thought about buying one of those relatively inexpensive ones, but I don’t think I like dried fruit enough to bother. And jerky is probably something I should limit just because it has so much sodium. Bf has been using mesquite wood chips the last couple times he’s grilled – for pork chops and for burgers – yum. Do naturally smoked foods cause the reflux, or just the artificial smoke flavors? Thanks for shopping for the replacement of my Budweiser beach towel - or rather, my DS’s towel. I’ll have to post a photo of the Bud beach towel I have because it’s different than the one you found – it’s got flowers on it too – it’s pretty cool. And I might as well post a photo of my cute “new to me” beach towel. I like the colors. :) == The rest of my weekend was alright. Yesterday I lazed around in the morning and then got outside to pull weeds in the front shrub border that desperately needs to have its mulch replenished. I Preened it afterwards - hope that helps. Bf and I met my friend D at Panera for lunch. She’s been so busy going back and forth to spend time w/ a seriously ill aunt in the hospital that we haven’t had time to get together and catch up. Bf grilled burgers for dinner. I did the usual dog walks Sat. & Sunday and some laundry. I’m just about halfway through the book club book (Where’d You Go, Bernadette: A Novel by Maria Semple). It’s a bit similar to another one we read for book club (What Alice Forgot) in that the mother character is the target of the other moms active in the fancy school her daughter attends. The boss and sr. mgr will be out the rest of the week, so it'll be nice and quiet around here. :) That made my Monday more pleasant. :D Tonight will be Jazzercise class. It’s pretty hot today…it will be a good sweaty workout even if I don’t give it my all! :exercise: |
Mel - Friday your time should be okay with me. I can't think of anything else I will be doing. Sometime on the Saturday Miss Puss will go to the DS1's but that will be probably late in the day. I don't pick up my new car until early next month. It has to come through customs, be prepared and cleaned from riding on a ship and then tested out. I will be kept in the loop as to where it is from time to time. The date being bandied around was the 8th July. Right in the middle of the Royal visit from Sophia.
Ceejay - I bought the Audi A3. Its a little gem. I'll find a photo soon and you can see for yourself. Laura - seems like it might be one of those days for you. Michelle - glad you had such a good day at the dog park. Annie - poor Samantha. Hope she feels much better soon. It would have been hard for you on Fathers day. The 'first times' are always hard. Hang in there. Happy - must be having a good time driving the tracks and going bush. Have fun. Watch out for the bears. My finger is finally healing up. It is still a bit tender but no longer needs band aids. I do protect it with rubber gloves when working in water or outside and it still reminds me it is not completely healed when I knock it but slowly it is coming right. Not sure what the workload will be today. I need to do some outside work but won't make a start on the shed until this finger is completely healed. I also need to make a trip to the dump with some rubbish as well. I might just go up and give the DS2 a bit of a hand. I haven't been around to help him much lately. He doesn't complain, just drops hints from time to time. And that is about it. Miss Puss is making cute outside the door. How did she get out there - she went out the bedroom door which is open. So how come she can't come back in the same way? Beats me. |
And there is Laura typing above my head. Happy exercising Laura
|
Less than an hour to go with work for today. I really need a nap. I'm not feeling well at all. very dizzy. :dizzy: I wonder if I'm losing weight and my meds need to be adjusted...I've been too afraid of the scale to check my weight. And I think my blood sugar meter thing is packed away too. ooops. :dunno:
UPDATE: A little over an hour later, and I'm feeling MUCH better. |
HI girls...I am officially restricted from the at work. Like it is a threat. ok...so will be posting from home which will be less than every day. Unless I can get a minute.
I don't even know what all everyone posted. Will try to figure that out in a minute. C and I are trying to decide to do with his kids. Both are going to try to visit in the next couple of days...We will see. Poor c, he gets so excited, then they cancel. Will post more tomorrow...loves and hugs. |
Shad - Congrats on the new car!! How exciting! Audi's are really, really good cars. Well done! Bummer that you have to 'till next month to get it. How long are you going home for? I'm glad to hear that the finger is healing. Wrap it in bubble wrap before you start banging around with it.
Laura - Good job on all the exercising. I'm going to visit a 24 hour Fitness tomorrow and quite probably sign up. I'm hoping they have a recumbent stepper cardio machine like my gym in WI had so that I have options when my back is too sore for Zumba. Ceejay - What bratty neighbor kids. That would drive me crazy. I hate it when kids (and adults) don't have any respect or care for anyone but themselves. :tantrum: I hope the inspection goes well. Annie - Sending many hugs and prayers your way for you and Samantha. You two have been through so much.  Shad is right...the 'first times' after a loved one passes are always so hard...and so close to your dad's b'day. :( I'm so sorry, sweet sista. Sending you much love. Also sending prayers for Sassy's tear duct procedure. Poor little sweetie. I hope that C's kids visit C. It's awful to get C's hopes up and then cancel. Mel - I'm glad to hear you're not pushing yourself this week. Steer clear of any office or kid drama. Happy - So glad you had a nice time volunteering at the craft fair. Are your feet doing okay with all the hours you're putting in? I hope so. :crossed: Well, time to figure out what I want for dinner. Much love, |

I probably stayed on FB to long yesterday. I was chatting with a male high school friend. Can I say, hallelujah. B just called and told me the phones were switched. I'm having to keep the water towers filled to brim this morning. When and if the inspectors get through with the tank I'll have to start refilling the tank. ugh. More later. |
Quick post for me as I have a lot to get done today amidst a morning full of meetings. With everyone here working from home on Fridays and Mondays, Tuesdays are hectic because people try to schedule all the meetings on that day.
Mel - Thanks for the tip about the Peanut Butter on white bread. Good to know. I usually keep trail mix on hand (the kind with peanuts, almonds, cashews, raisins and M&Ms. M&Ms and raisins provide the fast sugar...and the nuts the slow carbs. Ceejay - I'm glad the phones finally got switched over for you. I hope the rest of the day goes better. Shad - I hope you and Mel are able to chat on Friday...I think the world needs being set right in a big way, and you two ladies do such a good job when you get together. :) Gotta fly! Have a great day everyone! Love and hugs, |
Morning all. Chilly, foggy & drizzily right now. Yesterday was hot and sunny until I drove to Jazzercise, then a cold front came through and cooled things off.
Ceejay - Glad the phones got switched over, you've got other things to do! Mellie - Glad to hear the pain has eased up. Yeh, good idea to be gentle with the back and not subject it to a rough ride! Two inches of paper - that package is gonna need a lot of stamps!! It's ww today, so I skipped breakfast, but now you have me jonesing for a piece of toast (preferably cinnamon-raisin) with some peanut butter!! Maybe tomorrow morning - instead of cinn-raisin bread, I bought some cinn-raisin english muffins because they have fewer calories. :D Annie - Sorry they've blocked 3fc at work. That stinks. Hope the kids don't cancel on C and you get to do something fun. Michelle - Hope you're not having any more dizzyness. Does 24 hour fitness have Zumba classes, or would you go elsewhere for those? I hope they have the stepper machine you want. I feel like I've lost some flexibility, and my back gets stiff after sitting all day. I really should try to do a yoga class, or at a minimum do some stretches/exercises at home for that. Besides the bridge, what other exercises have doctors recommended you do for your back? Shad - Too bad you have to wait a few weeks for the new wheels. I bet you'll have a lot of fun tooling around in it with little S. in the back in her car seat, LOL. :bb: Glad the finger is healing. You have a valid excuse not to get hands-on with work at DS2's place, but you could go over there and supervise and inspect. :D Too funny about Miss Sunday going out one door but having to get you to let her in through another. Hi Happy! === Nothing much to report. Considered skipping Jazzercise, but decided to go to sweat off some weight before my ww weigh-in today. No movie tonight, but I do have an eye doctor appt to follow up on the new brand contact lenses I'm trying out. They feel pretty good, but get uncomfortable like the other ones when I've worn them all day. The eye doc recommended I use rewetting drops throughout the day and that makes a difference. But wouldn't it be the same with my usual brand of lenses? As for the vision...there's something "off" in the rx of the left lens, so I'm not sure I'll stick with this brand. I don't think my rx changed, so I don't know if this specific lens is an issue or what. I do know that the office ordered a pair of my usual lenses and I hope they give them to me tonight to see if there's the same issue. I'm kind of tired of traipsing back and forth to this office because the route has a lot of long traffic lights. On the other hand, our Middle Eastern food joint is right on the way and it's an opportunity to stop there for dinner... Okay, enough rambling. Back to work. |
Laura - 24 hour fitness does offer Zumba classes at fairly convenient times. Stretching your back is very important. I've also found that stretching my hamstrings and calves are equally important because when those tighten up, they pull my back out of alignment. Below are some links for back stretches and exercises...obviously don't do any of these if they cause you pain. (Thanks for asking me about these exercises...I've saved the URLs because I really need to make time to do stretches.)

Good for you on doing Jazzercise!! Let us know how the weigh in goes. |
Hi all,
Sorry I didn't get here yesterday. Was starting to post and DH was going into town so I went with him. Wanted to check out the farmer's market (the Mennonite ladies make fabulous bread) and had some errands of my own. Got back, made lunch and then went outside to work on the garden. FINALLY finished planting everything. Then my cousin called and said they were predicting perhaps a light frost. Since I am now finally getting baby buds - green beans, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, squash and cucumbers - opted to err on the side of caution and we tarped the garden and I had to bring everything from the deck (flowers and patio pots) into the greenhouse or cover them on the deck. I was outside all day long and we didn't eat dinner until 7:30 - very late for us. I think I zoned out afterwards because outside of a chat with Mom, don't know where the evening went. Got up early today, uncovered and moved back everything (it only got down to 38 degrees but glad I covered stuff over anyway). Took me almost 2 hours to move and completely water everything in the yard. My cousin stopped by because we discovered some wild Morel mushrooms in the yard but he said they were old and had gone bad :( So we visited for a bit. Then DH said he needed some lightweight long sleeved t-shirts because he keeps getting poison ivy when he mows and trims. That was an internet search that took a while but that's done now. I was supposed to get a pork roast in the crock pot, I think it might be too late for that. Now I need to hurry and eat something before I jump in the shower and off to the thrift store for the afternoon. So I'm sorry - will do personals tomorrow. to the chicks. |
Hi ladies...this place is freaky. Yesterday Humana blocked 3FC due to malicious content, whatever. Today I got on with no problem. Strange I tell you.
Vet called and said Miss Sass a cakes did perfect with her surgery and should be ok after this. Only 145.00 for that surgery. Yikes. I must be out of my head spending $$ like that on a doggie....haha My BF, Tari from St. Louis called me at 4am yesterday to tell me her doggie, Bailey, passed away. She was just bawling, so therefore I was too. C was just about to leave for work and stood there waiting to see what was going on. I told him Boo Bailey had just passed away, he was relieved it wasn't something else but also sad. Bailey was 14. Made a new meatloaf recipe that is quite tasty, lots of work however you grill it out on the grill. It turned out quite yummy. Made steamed broccoli to go with it last night and that was it. Delish! HAPPY...I don't blame DH for wanting long sleeve shirts for the ivy. Man if I get that it spreads everywhere. I think next year put all your plants on rollers, then just roll them in and out. lol. CHELLE...I love crazy busy days, they go by a lot quicker. We are in our slow time of year and I am not liking it one bit. Makes for a long boring day. LAURA...kudos to you for wearing contacts. I tried them a couple of times but I just don't like stuff in my eyes. Plus I like rubbing my eyes. CEEG...glad the phones got switched. THey did not do a D&C on Sam because the ultrasound show a clean, clear miscarriage. Nothing to scrape out. Which is good. Yes they still do D&Cs if they need to. MELLIE...Sorry you missed out on TJs. It can wait. wink wink. SHADDIE...congrats on the new car!! An Audi..wowser, you must be one of those rich people. lol. That is about it for me. Everyone have a terrific Tuesday/nite. Hugs |
Annie - yesterday, 3FC was blocked by nearly all browsers due to malicious content (probably contained in a banner ad). 3FC fixed it last night. Glad you're back with us. I'm glad to hear that Sassy is ok. $145 is pretty good for a doggie surgery. And if the surgery will keep her happier then it's worth every penny. I always say...when you get a pet, you've got to be prepared to pay for more than just food. That being said, after getting such a lousy grooming for Santa last time - Petco telling me AFTER they were done and I was out $70 that they'd never groomed a Schnauzer before - I ordered an electric pet hair clipper off Amazon for less than the cost of 1 grooming, so I'm going to start doing it myself. I'm sure Santa will look mighty silly the first time or two that I groom him, but I'll get better with practice. So sorry to hear about Bailey.
|
Happy - I'm glad you were able to check out the farmers' market and got everything planted in your garden. Hopefully next time you'll be able to harvest some Morels before they go bad. I hope your afternoon at the thrift store goes well.

Morning all,
Up early this morning as I am going back to help DS2 again with the reno. He was sounding a bit panicked yesterday and had such a lot to do. So I made a batch of scones and went up and painted trims while he rollered the walls. I put rubber gloves on to protect my finger which is rapidly healing now. Went there and jumped up and down scaffolding to get the job done. Apparently he has refugees moving in over the weekend. He was going to spend last night tiling the bathroom. Lucky he is good at these things. Today we will finish the last coat of trim, finish the tiling. Clean up for the carpet layer arriving probably tomorrow and get the tools and stuff out of the house. Then we need to start on the yard. DB2 arrived around the house yesterday morning on his way to get a hair cut. He wants me to take him to the airport on Thursday since he is off to NZ as well for my sisters birthday. Just goes to show what you can afford if you don't gamble hey. My new car will not now arrive until late July, early August. The dealer rung me yesterday to say that there was a delay on the shipping. To compensate they will install the 2014 upgrade at no extra cost. So that is fine. Cynically I suspect that someone else didn't drive the same bargaining power as I did and therefore is getting the car earmarked for me and I wait for the new one. Happy - going out with the DH is much better for you than sitting at the computer. Sorry to hear that you are still getting such low temps overnight. That won't do too much for the garden except if you are growing cauliflower  or broccoli or even parsnips are they all need frost to give them their great flavour. Shame you didn't get the roast pork into the crock pot - love roast pork. Mel - will sit by the phone with lots of coffee brewed on Friday. Michelle - Good to hear that you are back to exercise and are doing stretching stuff. Better take pictures of Santa after you groom him for the first time. We like to see interesting things like that. Annie - it seems that I must have got in early enough yesterday since I haven't had much problem getting into the site. Getting it to stay in one place is another thing. It is really bad on the cursor jumping bit today. Glad to hear that all is well with both Samantha and Sassy. Hope C's children grow up soon and start to behave like adults. Ceejay - happy filling of tanks etc. Laura - Strange about the contact lenses. I have no problem with mine. I wear Acuvue brand. They are supposed to be monthly disposables but I usually manage to get about 2 1/2 to 3 months out of them. Never get dry eye unless I am really tired or the lens is just too old. Miss Puss is again sitting at the closed door. She is becoming a real old lady. Doesn't want her breakfast. Dinner is not good enough. Finally the sun has risen and I can see it peeping through the trees. Time to get showered, fed and ready to go to the DS2's place. I will be there until lunchtime, then I need to come home and do some work around here. The garden needs water and weeding. However first, trim up some nails and then shower. This site is a real pain with jumping cursors this morning. I'm a bit worried I might lose this post. See ya |
Whew what a day! First of the phone was driving me nuts and I had to start to refill the tank. Lo and behold they forgot to turn off the other tank and it over flowed. The boss was a bit embarrassed. I laughed. I'd only gotten 6 feet of water in the other tank when that happened. It took till 12.45 p.m. to fill it to 29.0 feet. I'd gone over to the waste-water lab to have my friend boss sign his initials where the other person made a mistake, and when I got back the filters were draining. Flew down stairs to start closing the filters. I made mention to the maintenance man that I'm getting to old to be climbing under and over these pipes. The rest of the day was spent filling up the water towers. I had to let them drop to 31.0 feet. They hold 38.0 foot of water. I'm still putting water in the other water tower.
I'm tired mentally. Will do personals later. |

Guess we are all getting older, even the cat. Sounds like she is set in her ways too. Good for you in offering to help in the reno's. Right down your alley Mel Glad you are feeling better. I'll be glad when this day is over. My 3 day week end will be here. And I'm staying home. It's to hot to be on the road. Laura, Michelle, Happy, and Annie  --------------- I'm yearning today to go visit my sister. My niece posted a picture of my Sis and her grandson on FB. He's such a cutie. And he turns one year old at the end of the month. It's looks like they were having lunch outside in the back yard. I'm missing out on so much. It will be nice to get to finally be around my family. I've never had that opportunity. |
Oh Happy Day, Oh Happy Day!! Just thought I would start it out on a positive note. Every time my phone rings at odd hours, I get a sick feeling in my tummy. It happened twice this morning, both calls were good. So I am going to have a happy day and be positive. All good things come to those who wait.
Sissy is coming up for lunch and shopping at Costco with me today, of course, this will be a two hour lunch. SHe came up yesterday and today she is coming back to return a couple of items at Costco. Ok by me, two days I get to visit with baby girl and lil man. Sassy is none too happy about it as this is a Sissy day. Beats being in the cage all day as opposed to a couple of hours. Wish you all could meet Sass in person, she is such a lover puppy and sweet. Cs DD, Maryann came over last night. She and her BF. We ordered Donato's pizza. Bacon and tomato pizza. I just love that combination. We ordered a pepperoni for them. Tons of leftovers which pleases C to no end. I rented Silver Linings Playbook, which I saw at the movies with DS and DDIL, however none of them had seen it. It was just as good the second time around. My eating is terrible and no exercising, which is no surprise to any of us. lol. I did walk a mile on Monday around the pond. Whoop Whoop. I think Laura has us all beat on exercise. MELLIE...Thanks for the extra hugs, I will take them and pass along to Sissy at lunch. THe meatloaf is seared on all sides for 3 mins each before placing out on the grill then you lay bacon across the entire top. Then there is a sauce you make on the stove and pour half on top wait 15 minutes and pour the remainder on it. It makes a nice glaze. Bacon is nice and crispy too. CEEG...gez your day wore me out just reading about it. Good idea to get that mistake initialed by boss so it won't come back to haunt you. Cover your bases girl. SHADDIE...you are such a great momma to DSs, and to Ms. Puss too, altho I don't think she appreciates you as much as DSs. lol Maybe another delay in the car will get you something else free or maybe they could knock a few bucks off? CHELLE...haha about Santa looking funny for a while. He will get used to it and only be embarrassed for a while. I used to groom Bella when she used to let me in the old days. You will do fine!! HAPPY...wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey. LAURA...how did the WI go? Guess I better post before I lose it...literally, hahaha Hugs |
Good morning girls,
Got a surprise phone call from my SIL last night. If my Sis will drive my Mom the 2 hour trip north to SIL, she will bring her up to our house and stay a few days with her extremely well behaved grandkids. That's great - means only one 8 hour trip for Mom instead of two. Of course in my SIL's usual fashion they will be making the trip THIS weekend. That makes for some really tight timing to get the house ready for visitors and plan out things like meals and such. So I will be a very busy girl and probably not on the computer much over the next week or so. I guess with summer coming into full swing, several of the regular volunteers at the thrift store are taking some time off. There are holes in the schedule and I signed up to work 2 days early next week which I will need to cancel now. I am still honoring my commitment to tomorrow afternoon though. We have no one to cover the store Friday and Saturday afternoon and with our first big summer festival right in town, that will mean lost revenue for the store if we have to close it due to no volunteers. I am doing my part by taking the Thursday slot. I did manage to get the pork roast in the crock before I left yesterday. Came home to a delicious dinner - will definitely do this again. Annie - pizza sounds delicious as well as the meatloaf on the grill. I love meatloaf :hungry: Sorry to hear of your friend's loss :( always sad to lose a devoted companion. So many people talk about losing a long time pet and then they are reluctant to get another one - but thankfully after a period of time, they usually do. Have fun with Sissy today. Michelle - glad you had a great time at the dog park. You seem to be finding more fun activities now - must be the fun in the sun CA living :D Keep it up! Did you decide on a gym yet? Ceejay - perhaps you should schedule a trip to visit your sister? Can you fly or is your only option to drive yourself? That's a long trip but I agree with you the little ones are cuties and they grow up so fast. Mel - how's the sciatica coming along? Gone, gone, gone I hope :crossed: Did you reschedule your meeting with the SS people? Hope you and Shad can connect up on the telly soon. Shad - congrats on the new car. Hopefully the current one won't get wind she's long for the car lot and will last out the time until the new one arrives. Whew! sounds like DS2 has his hands full with the new renovations. Lucky you are a handy family - hope they get done in time. Nothing like a tight deadline to make you move faster. Good to hear DB is using his money for better things. Guess you won't be going to Sis' BD party or is this the near term trip you had planned? Glad you mentioned about 3FC and malicious content. My antivirus blocked a mis-direct twice. Thought it was here but it happened fast - sometimes my fingers are crooked. Laura - hope you are having a good day - I'm sure you are over my head typing again. Will catch up with you later. And with that, I really need to get moving. Have a good one ladies, I will be here sporatically but with you in spirit. :grouphug: |

Good morning ladies -
Another busy day ahead...lots to get done for work. Santa and I are enjoying California living. I am more light-hearted than I've been in a long time. I'm very grateful to my step-mom for letting us stay with her until I have a more permanent job. I haven't signed up for a gym yet. Though I'm pretty much deciding on 24 Hour Fitness. There are three that are convenient to work/home/doggie day care, and they offer classes at good times. The thing I'm debating is the "level" of membership...do I go with the fairly basic package, which gets me access to 50% gyms that are convenient but don't have as much in the way of amenities...or do I pay a bit more and get access to pretty much any gym in the area, including some that are brand new and gorgeous. I'm going to tour the lower grade gym nearby, as well as the brand new gym. I did find out that if I pay "up front" for the gym and purchase the membership through Costco, I can save A LOT of money. Today, I think I'll do a Zumba DVD that i checked out of the library, and then take Santa for a walk if he's not too tired. I haven't slept well in a couple weeks. Too much on my mind. Hopefully the exercising will clear that out. ==================== Shad - Good on ya for helping your son with the reno work. Glad to hear the finger is still healing nicely. :) Annie - So nice that C's daughter didn't cancel out. And that you got to see Sam and the lil man two days in a row. :) Ceejay - What a hectic day you had. Sheesh! No wonder you were tired. I hope today is a bit easier. Mel - Don't work too hard. I hope you're feeling better and don't have sciatica anymore. Happy - How nice that your sister and SIL are helping with transporting Mom. I know how much you must be looking forward to her visit. I really miss my DMIL. My ex says she'll be coming out later this summer and staying with one of her daughters. And I've promised DMIL that I'd take her to the beach or wherever she wants to go. to Laura! Gotta get back to it! Much love, |
