  • Ugh, nothing worse than dealing with the Powers That Be. Good luck to you.

On top of mosquitos (isn't that a song? On top of mosquitos, all covered with fleas, I scratched my poor brains out, and started to sneeze. Yeah that's it), we are getting major pollen breakout, in spite of the rain. I've been coughing and sneezing all day. Lucky me.

  • Hi cows! Just checking in. Had a busy week of entertaining. Neighbours on Tuesday, friends on Thursday. Today we're going for a hike in the woodk to burn of those extra calories.

Way to go with the 1.2 lbs, Wabby! Better than gaining 5. I think we could use a "public involvement specialist" around here sometimes with all the stuff that goes on.

Hey Kiwi! Sounds like you had a great time with the babes. Man, what a handful. We were three kids at home and my mum says she doesn't know how she did it.

Bagzie! Forgot to congratulate you on your anniversary! Here's to another 40 years!
  • Hi chickies! Where's Peaches? Out inspecting her new house?

Yep, Sugar, it was well worth the massive driving to spend the time with sissie and the babes. I don't know how a person handles 3 small children either. I mean you only have 2 arms, 2 ears, 2 pant legs for them to tug on. My sis actual expressed the slightest guilt for contributing to overpopulation, but I assured her that she was having my 2nd, and anyway she makes good kids. The world needs more good kids. If only you could convince drug addicts and lunatics to have fewer.

I have come down with some horrible cold or something. I really thought it was just allergies, what with all the dandelion fluff flying around, but this is much worse. I was up most of the night coughing. Yuk. Must have gotten little kid germs, you know how bad those can be.

Tomorrow is my DD's guitar recital. She is calmly typing up a diary entry on the other computer instead of practicing. She is going to play "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" as a duet with her teacher. I'm sure she will be wonderful. And I will be a case of nerves. It's the least I can do...

  • i was just at a dance for my brother's hockey team-------------------i drank at least four double rums and cokes------------i can hardly believe i can spell-------acutally i am taking at least a half hour to write this : : : :
  • You're a wild woman, Bagz. Hope you're not suffering too badly today

I'm sitting here in my pjs, still coughing my lungs out. I'm going to have to stock up on good drugs before I go to DDs recital. Wouldn't do to have to leave in the middle, eh?

Gee, Bagzie - that post didn't seem any different than any of your other ones! HA HA HA HA HA!! Sound like you had an excellent time. How much Tylenol didja have to take today?

Get well soon AGAIN, Kiwi! Man, you have to stop getting sick like this. Do you think it could be something in the house?

Actually exercised today. Where's Peaches? Probably picking out window treatments.
  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa very funny sugarbags---------------i shockingly did NOT have a headache, but i was very slow moving until noon and felt quite groggy---i don't smoke but i had two cigs in the interest of entertaining the people, plus i danced alot=============OKAY---I AM READY TO TRY SOMETHING RADICAL LIKE LO CARB DIETING----ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT?????? COME ON WABBY,YOU MUST KNOW=-====--KIWI!!!!!! how was the recital????hope you didn't hack your way through it and got to enjoy!!!! your baby is amazing to be playing all those difficult pieces
  • Could be, Sugar P
I'm such a poet. I wouldn't be surprised if my house was making me sick. We have a roof-ful of bats, moisture laden kitchen ceiling probably growing mold by the square foot, and the usual dirt that I ignore. However, I would always be sick, wouldn't I? I actually tend to get what other people get -- in this case, my sister had a bad cold when she went into labor and passed the germs around to the rest of the family afterward, I presume.

In any case, I survived the concert by downing cough syrup and cough drops. The first half I had a water bottle with me; during intermission I filled it back up and went to the bathroom, then discovered when the recital started back up again that I'd left the bottle in the bathroom. I made it through though. And it was so gorgeous -- DD was the last to perform and she did a beautiful job.

Bagz, don't you go all lo-carb hi-protein on us. It's very unhealthy. Very trendy of course, but not good for you in the long run. Compromises your kidney function and can shoot your cholesterol through the roof. Do something more moderate -- there are moderate lo-carb plans out there.

That's my rant for the day.

  • Bagzie, as usual, Kiwi is right. Follow her advice.

Kiwi, you probably got sick because you left your home. All that stuff you described about home probably keeps your immune system running top notch. I know all the dust and dog dander at my house keeps me from getting allergies. My friend's house is spotless and she's allergic to everything.

I'm such a rebel. I'm deliberately keeping my library book for a couple extra days because I'm not done reading it, and someone else has a hold on it, so I can't renew online. Are you shocked????

My weekend was wonderful. I went to dinner w/ a friend and DD on friday night, then DD & I went to see Down With Love which was a really cute movie. Then went to a baby shower on Saturday, then out to dinner w/ DH Saturday night, then out in the boat on Sunday w/ DH, then had DS and gf over for bbq Sunday evening. I was busy all weekend and my house looks it. I need Bagzie's house cleaner to come over.

I know this post is all about me, but you know....

Gotta go. I'm getting my summer blond highlights put in my hair this evening.
  • I'm at that awkward age - I'm old enough that I don't want the sun damage that tanning gives you, but my leg veins are getting so bad that I need a tan before I can expose them to the world. What's a sweet young thang like me to do????? And don't tell me to use that self tanner stuff, it's not the same thing. Lush, do you tan before you hit the pool?

We've had 2 sleepless nights - Sunday night, actually monday morning at 2 am, the alarm company called to tell us our alarm went off at the business. Thank goodness we have a bartending daughter that gets home at 2 am, because she drove to the shop to check it out - don't worry, the police had responded, we wouldn't send her up there by herself. It was a false alarm. Then last night we got a 1 am call because a friend (I use that term loosely here) called from the county jail. He'd been picked up for drunk driving. DH drove to the jail, to find out that his bail was $750, and since he already owes us $1500 on a truck he bought from us and has never finished paying for, he decided that it wouldn't hurt the guy to sleep it off at the jail. The part that I found particularly amusing is that this guy thinks he's a real stud muffin, and he never wears underwear (I know - I think it's gross) and when they check drunks into the jail here, they take their street clothes from them, apparently so they can't hang themselves in the drunk tank. So he spent the night in the buff on a cold stainless steel bunk. Do you detect a lack of sympathy here??? I have none when it comes to ppl who get behind the wheel drunk.

Please somebody come and post. It's getting lonely here. Peaches, what's up w/ the house??

Well, that could certainly be true. I even took 3 boxes from our attic (little girl clothes I'd been saving) and they brought along rodent poopies as it turned out -- and I didn't get sick until way after we went through them. Yeah, then my sis put all the clothes in the wash (amazing what a little bleach will do!) and a few days later I was sick.

Okay, that's not as convincing as I thought it would be...

But I do always get a cold or something when I visit my rels in NC. I even used to get sick every time I went home from college (I wasn't the sickly type when I lived at home). A doctor told me that the Charlotte area is in a weather inversion and holds stuff/weather close to the ground or some crazy thing. Anyway it supposedly explained my getting sick when I went there.

You know, Wabbit, if you are going summer blonde, you really need to tan those legs. Get out the SPF 15, or maybe less, and stretch them babies out.

What an exciting life you lead -- Oy. I'm so glad your DH left the doofus in jail. I wish they would permanently take away licenses of people who keep drinking and driving. Because they never change. My dad went for years tee-totalling after he finally got caught DUI (I believe he lost his license for 6 months), then gradually went back to drinking, and quite frankly never did learn not drive when he was drinking. I'm sure it factored into his death. Really pisses me off when I think about it. A night in jail isn't enough, is it?

Oh well, it's a beautiful day. I should get out and work on my lasagna garden. So far all it has is a couple of layers of noodles...

I want to see Down With Love too. Did you see that Julianne Moore movie Far from Heaven -- it was done in a very stylized 60s fashion too, but it was a melodrama.

  • I have been asked to post and so I am posting. In 50 minutes Granny Mildred and the Realtorette should be here to annoy me. Yesterday, a young person with a tiny infant banged on the door. She walked in!!! She said the owner was to meet her here. I called the owner who ran her off. They had talked but not made an appointment. This is quite annoyerating.
  • Has the fuzz rubbed off the Peach?
  • Granny is gone now. She didn't even look at the whole house. She carried a pad of paper and pencil with her. She likes cats though.

Would that make her a nectarine?

Annoyerating indeed. Some people have no manners.
